Hi folks,
here's the story: being a big fan of Stunner right from the moment I first found out about it, the capricorn bootanimation in Stunner 2 triggered the idea to try to create a different one that would put the focus on its real mascot: the Blue Dragon.
Though the final result isn't necessarily perfect, I still feel content with it as it comes close enough to what I had wanted to do.
So, while I originally did the animation just for myself, I decided to share it here, as sort of a fan's tribute to Stunner.
Credits go to neobuddy89 for the inspiration and kind approval; to whoever painted the Dragon in the first place and to www.obsidiandawn.com for their custom brushes and patterns with which most of the flames were done!
Here are the two versions:
1) the normal .zip (can simply be selected as custom boot animation in ROM Control - General User Interface, as most of you probably know):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8tpq27jbxtvdujc/boot_upinflames_st2.zip
2) the CWM flashable one:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/otj9n0xcsa7r5co/boot_upinflames_st2_cwm.zip
The thumbnail below is an animated gif. It does not include the loops of the real animation and has a heavily reduced quality to fit the max attachment filesize.
Still, please click on it if you want to get somewhat of an idea of what the original looks like.
Thanks, mate. Being a dragon myself, now I just want my Note to loop reboot!

Yeah, it's a bit rough on dragons these days:
not only are they getting jolted and consequently molested There And Back Again, have to scamper all over the place just to get the blonde mum from Essos back to Westeros, now beyond all of that people here on xda seem to take pleasure in having them caught up in endless bootloops like treadmills...

Thank you, it's nice and well done. Just the firing animation is too fast (for my eyes, cannot look at it).

You know, the timing and the speed of the animation are always going to be a compromise.
While it's possible to define the pauses between the loops of the various parts separately, the speed is an overall parameter. Because I was trying to achieve a vibrant impression, I decided to use 35 fps which is rather fast indeed.
Here's a version with the speed reduced to 25 fps - although it feels to me as if the dragon's rather yawning flames instead of actually belching them...:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/170a4fur1q95587/BUIFL%4025fps.zip
If you want to, have a look at the desc.txt in the zip file and modify it to your liking. Just keep in mind that a working bootanimation has to be saved as an uncompressed .zip file.

I recently started learning how to do some work in the community with splash screens. Initially I just did three as copies of an image from another community member (got his permission), but I seem to be making more and more thus the need for a singular thread.
So far, these are all simply splash screens for the Synergy Roms, however as splash screens go, well it doesn't matter what rom you're running, would just be a bit strange running savaged mod with a Synergy splash, but thats on y'all.
Anyway, as I get better then I'll branch into boot animations or lockscreen mods and maybe even theming roms, but for the moment this is it.
If you have a particular image you want made into one, I can give it a shot. I wish I had more talent as a digital artist, but since I don't then I use images I can find and get permission when at all possible.
Thanks for stopping by.
Instructions for installing any of my splash screens:
1) Remove everything after the "-" from the filename so it is just "PC36IMG" or if you have file extensions set to show, it will read "PC36IMG.zip".
2) Copy it to the root of your SD Card.
3) Reboot the phone into bootloader.
4) Bootloader should automatically detect it and ask you if you want to install it, hit Volume up for yes.
5) A couple seconds later it will prompt you to reboot with another Volume up, go fer it.
6) Your new splash screen will show up, the peasants will rejoice, and peace will reign across the land. Well, can't guarantee all that, but look for one of the above to happen.
Some examples of whats going on in this thread:
Synergy Splash Screens
So this is the set that I took the image from whiterider13 with his permission, they turned out pretty decent.
Some other Rom Splash Screens
More Synergy Screens
Miscellaneous Splash Screens
Testing out this style, seems to have gotten good reception so far. Will probably tweak it so it doesn't look quite so hacked together a little later, but let me know what you think. I'll probably start sorting through a green and red version later.
Three more I just wrapped up, feels like a step backwards from my last one, but they look decent. I think I did them just to offer variety more than anything.

Alright, I gotta admit, these look pretty slick in my opinion, despite the simplicity. Getting the color to change right was a big pain, and I'm still going to work on getting the blue one to look a hair cleaner than it does, but overall I think they look good. Hope you all enjoy.

Digital Green
Hello again forum. So I spent quite a bit more time on this than the original blue one, I tried pretty hard to make sure it doesn't look too "busy". I'm still not entirely satisfied with it, but it appears to be coming along as a work in progress. However I do think it looks pretty cool for what it is right now. Let me know what you guys think though, thanks.
Crafted a simple signature, nothing fancy, just functional.
Great job on the splash screens....I have personally chosen the green swoosh splash as my splash screen...Thanks and once again, great work.

Actually that is kind of the plan, gotta fix the way Gimp is processing the font, clean everything up a bit, make a couple of small tweaks to it, generate the red version and reverse produce the final product for the other colors, then animate it. I'm also tempted to do a "noir" version of each splash screen cause I know there's anti-color folks out there. I don't want them to be simple black, white and shades of gray....I'm looking for them to maintain the same feel, just a lot more subtly. But that will be a bit further down the road. Thanks though for all the praise.

I worked on this for hours. I got all the png pics right, used a gif of some flames, added the Kindle Fire boot logo, along with the "part0 and desc.txt" files. Created bootanimation.zip but no matter what I did it wouldnt show up on boot. So I was browsing around for a solution and found this tool. Worked great. I then tweaked and tweaked the size and timing trying to get it to look the best without a lot of hiccups. It does have a few delays right at the beginning but I got it the best I could. I think it came out pretty good considering Ive never created anything for android before. Im pretty much a follow tutorial only guy. But I got in the mood tonight to try to create and contribute. So anyway feel free to check it out.

No offense taken. Hey call me strange, but I actually like the Fires wallpapers. I love the whole OS and launcher. Ive tried other custom roms like cyanogen, but ended up going back to stock. Just bought a Xoom today for under $300. So Ill most likely be playing around with that. But I havent stopped with the Fire. I had another boot animation all done, but ended up scrapping it. Everything looked great except for the logo. It was blurry. So Ill have to work on that one some more before I post it.
I have to admit, the stock ones have a nice resolution to them. Some are really nice and then the others are just meh. I do hope you keep at it. Those are neat. I want one of a dragon coming out and setting the word "Kindle" on fire. That would win me in a second

Yay! I had an idea That would be neat. Maybe replace the fire on that dragon with the animation you already have...not sure how that works. I'll leave that up to you
So I'm playing around with bootanimations and threw this one together. Problem is though, it's choppy and stutters.
Is this because the animation is too much for my CPU?
Any specs on having it nice and smooth?
Qkster? Andros?...............Bueler?
Not a huge deal, but would be cool.
Re: [Q] Bootanimation too much for CPU?
Well, first off, nice animation. My guess is that you have too many frames for too little of motion.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Re: [Q] Bootanimation too much for CPU?
Good idea. I guess I'll try and take out every other frame. I just kinda figured that more frames = smoother, as long as I was under a certain amount. But what ur saying makes sense.
Attempt #2 coming up.

Build.prop addition:
Debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
Well, first I tried the build.prop modification from 0 to 1.
Unfortunately the animation wasn't visible during boot up. The phone still started fine, just blank screen where the animation should be.
Then I tried removing every other frame.
That made the animation and the stuttering run faster.
Thanks guys

Damn I should have known. I thought it looked like I was turning off the boot animation. But I just did what you said anyway.
Nice one. :good: You got me.
There was something in the desc.txt I messed up. An extra space or something. I got it nice and smooth now.
Only 14 frames and because the background was black anyway, I reduced the canvas size of the images to from 480x800 to 480x480.
Made the image size in the desc.txt file 480 480 also.

It's definitely the icons. When using the pen on a drawing app, the brush strokes match perfectly with the pen. Only the icons are off. Before I installed this, everything matched up perfectly. Reset Spen did nothing to fix it.
I wish I would have made a backup just prior to installing this. I'd made a lot of changes to my system since my previous backup. Which files did this modify? I'd prefer to just revert those files if possible.

To the above post: I completely reflashed my ROM and the icon looks exactly the same. Its off by a little tiny bit but it looks no different from using the stock option in aroma.

I get that most of those wouldn't be accurate, but I'd hoped the Scope or other pinpoint versions were. Oh well, still a good addition to the themes. I noticed the stock image wasn't as clean looking as the real stock, you might want to redo that one.

I have a note ii and was asked to port this here. I will extract the stock images from the pad and post it tomorrow for you. I'm guessing the pad doesn't use the same resolution as the note ii, the note ii is 30x30.
Give this a try, select the stock image: http://d-h.st/KM5
Like I said I ported this over from the Note II, which uses 30x30 images. The pad uses 48x48 I was told by a couple folks it would work, I guess they didnt realize the size difference. You should be all set, please leave a reply so I know your good.

Thought I would share my custom bios bootanimation to infinity pad users. I search all over but there was none made for the TF700 so I decided to do some editing based off from the OP by frysee and luna_c66 post #6 so thanks to them. Here's are the screenshots made with an online gif generator. Didn't turn out as clear as I hope but still somewhat legible. Both bios has the green ascii android at the end before bootup

Thanks for this bootanimation it is really nice. However my TF700T is a little different to the specs listed in the animation so I would like a version for 64GB internal storage and also for Android 4.3 rather than 4.2.1.
Is there any chance you could post resources you used to make this (PSD's or XCF's etc) to allow these small adjustments to be easily made? Alternatively if you would make a version of the animation with these adjustments it would be much appreciated.
Thank You a lot

Go into the zip and edit the desc.txt file. Change the fps number 30 to which ever you feel fit
I Played around with the fps # . tried 15, 10, 5. the only one that works is 30. Thanks again for your help, vnphatbuddha

Hey mate, i made a cromi boot animation a while ago but never put it together, i made it mainly to test out my wildly overclocked FX-8350's rendering capabilities, but maybe you would like to use it.
Heres a preview:
I randomly found the files on my dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/jw2f1qupc5itr02/Cromi(jpeg).rar i rendered them do a jpeg as i wanted to keep size to a minimum, The files in the "ToBeLooped" were meant to be looped at the end but i couldnt remember how to do it..
Not my best but someone might like it
