Hi,I want to change my sensation.I'd like to buy a new phone with good camera and battery life.
I had to decide betwen 3 device:galaxy sIII (removable battery and good camera),htc one x(better camera but poor battery life)and nexus 4(good device and battery, but with camera I saw different opinion).I'm a fan of HTC from many years, but last battery decision is wrong for me.
Thanks all for replyes
I'd go with the Nexus 4. To be honest, a phone camera, no matter how good, is still a phone camera. Yes, some phones may produce slightly nicer pictures than others, but unless you start comparing them side by side, you're really not going to be disappointed with any of the phones you listed. Setting aside the camera as a major consideration, the Nexus 4 is going to give you the best overall experience. The screen is downright gorgeous, the battery is solid, and not being a third party phone means you will be able to load the latest and greatest builds of android right out of the gate.

thankyou Vincent. I like very much htc one x for sense too,but battery is a really bug for me .What about n4 battery life with your use?HTC drain battery very quicly when screen on,
If you can, try the One X+. It's the refreshed version with much better battery life and larger internal storage.

I saw it,but the price is out of budget
You can prefer Note II also for longer battery life
I like the freedom of a removeable battery and can't see myself going back to a device where it can't be swapped / replaced. I would have loved to get the N4, but this was a dealbreaker along with lack of micro SD card. It depends on what is important to you.

Based on your choices, I would suggest you get the Galaxy SIII and get a expendable battery (probably 4200mAh if you don't mind bulky or OEM 3000mAh which is slimier). You get best of both worlds, good camera and good battery life :good:

Both HTC one plus X and Samsung Galaxy S3 are using 2100mAh battery so there is no which one is longer or shorter battery.
Both camera shots are comparable since after the latest update for S3.
Consider things like removable battery which can be upgradable to higher mAh, expandable SD Card which able to store more photos, music, videos etc....
Its quite clear that Samsung Galaxy S3 do have the edge over HTC one plus X.
Hope this will help you make your choice.

It seems that they are a lot of people who have come from the galaxy s2 to the one x. and I am one of those people.
This thread is to express your thoughts on which is better and for what reason.
my opinion:
s2 over the one X:
Better battery life
more Roms at the moment
Smaller (I prefer Bigger though)
AMOLED screen has better blacks
Higher resolution front facing camera
Better video recording quality in my opinion
Touchwiz seems to be lighter on the RAM and processors
most issues have being fixed via updates (lets hope this will be the case for the One X)
One X over the S2:
Bigger (depends what you like)
Higher resolution screen
Produces better whites
Better camera quality in my opinion
My device gets warm, not hot like my S2 did.
HTC Sense over Touchwiz (depends what you like)
Better build quality
quad core
I personally think better call quality.
My son had his upgrade at the weekend and went for the Galaxy S2 over the One X and loves it... i have to say I found it a tough choice but i prefer the Samsung over all as I hate HTC battery life and wifi signal generally.
Both awesome phones though!
Well i think its not fair to compare those two because they belong to different "generations".I do agree with you on both pros and cons of s2.We still have to wait for s3,then it will be true battle
Yeah I don't think you can compare the two. Have both must say one x for me is far superior. To add to your list one x
Looks and feels better in the hand.
ICS.
Better Keyboard.
LED light notification.
The only reason I would go with gs2 over the one x is simply it would far cheaper option.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk
Also, I think once you're used to HTC Sense, it is quite hard to switch to a different user interface, though I believe the SG galaxy UI is also well thought of.
I went from a SGS2 to a HTC One X. I felt the HTC was always "laggy" as if things were not being gpu accelerated. It always seem to sit on the helper core in many apps overall the experience was not as expected for such a "fast" device. My SGS2 with ICS and Gingerbread is flawless, everything is smooth. Much more so over the One X with scrolling. Other positives is the blacks are much better, motion clarity is nicer removable battery and SD card and the battery life is much better. The "back" button is also in the right place since I am right handed rather than having to stretch my thumb across the phone, it also doesn't have the issue with the 3 dots at the bottom in most apps.
The One X has a nice resolution screen and a decent camera and I do like the LED notification everything else id say the SGS2 is better for which is bizarre considering it is a phone which is over a year old.
I have just got hold of a One S since I am taking the One X back and that is a different beast. Battery life is fantastic ( 2 days of heavy usage ), blazing fast much lighter and "better" in the hand than the One X is. Unfortunately is it let down by the pentile screen but it is actually surprisingly good overall I am much happier with the One S than the One X.
The SGS2 is just a fantastic phone considering the age... I am really looking forwards to to the SGS3
There is a 'hack' somewhere for the One X, which would resolve the battery issues?
i have galaxy s2 and i love it. go for galaxy s2.
when SGS3 comes out, the price of SGS2 will definitely drop. and that's good news cause SGS2 is still pretty much a kickass phone!

Wait for SGS3 and then go and buy
Just a simple question, why would choose an HTC One S over the Samsung Galaxy S3? I'm considering buying one of those, but i don't know which aspect of the One S is better than the S3..
Because it fits in the hand like no other phone,it's not too big and not too small, simply perfect, the phone is quite fast
And if u are buying a One S,buy it with the S4 chip
Sent from my HTC One S using TrickDroid 4.0.0
Far far far far nicer looking and way better build quality and of course perceived quality, the looks of the gs3 is the main thing that puts me of it
Better chipset (s4)
IMO sense is miles better for the stock apps, ui, colour scheme
Better battery life
The camera is better overall in terms of features/options and camera ui which make photography far better
If we're talking stock, Sense >>>> Touchwiz. Touchwiz feels so sluggish.
On the One S, I keep going back to stock from custom roms because I love how it feels and the battery life is great.
Only benefit of the SGS3 IMO is NFC.
Build quality, build quality and erm.. build quality.
Fluent usage! The GS3 is not running as smooth as Sense on my HOS!

if i'm not wrong, the battery life in S3 is actually better than the One S. also, it does have the option to expand memory (up to 64GB). other than that i'd lean towards the One S.

You can't really count storage as a plus or a con for either device, it's all personal preference. ~9Gb is plenty for me

There isn't a huge difference in battery life, however, i have yet to see a GS 3 get the same sort of battery life with similar usage to what i and others get, which is about 4-5 hours on screen time spread across 1-3 days with heavy usage especially for browsing (out of the box), which kills battery life on Samoled screen mobiles particularly ours.
Plus it shouldn't be to any surprise anyway as we have the smaller display with a lower res. As well as a far more power efficient CPU chipset.
As said storage is personal preference, 16gb is enough for me, even if I had a 64g SD card i doubt that i would even use 5gb of that on top of the 16gb internal storage.

Build quality is definitely a big one. Much better build quality with htc. Also gonna have to say size, sgs3 is practically a tablet.

I own a galaxy 3 and I get 5-6 hours screen time easily with just web browsing/text with games I get around 3-4 hours. As for build quality I don't know anybody who doesn't get a case for these higher end phones and most of them like the otter box cases make it feel as sturdy as any phone can be.
As for CPU they both have the same s4 chip if it is the lte variant and if its international it has the the quad core exynos so the better CPU argument kind of confuses me.
Expandable storage is extremely nice too have but that is just my opinion. Touchwiz 5.0 has added way to many features to list but i'd suggest you look it up its worth the watch. The camera also has a plethora of features that HTC phones do not. Also the lte variant comes with 2 gigs of ram which actually makes the CPU run more efficiently because it doesn't have to manage the memory as much.
All in all I would take a good look at the reviews on both phones before you make your decisions. One more thing before I forget is the amount of accessories available for the s3 is pretty nice.
Hope I helped

Quite a lot of people don't actually use cases, I always had the intention of using one with my S (have like 4 cases) especially given that the MAO layer can chip easily, but it so good that I don't use any case at all now unless going out for the night or something, if it was any other phone like the GS 3 then I have no problem using a case) IMO the otterbox cases are butt ugly and add a stupid amount of bulk.
Yeah the USA GS 3 has the S4 chipset although touchwiz seems to be very poorly optimised with it as the XL (using this as it has the same screen res.) easily beats it. The international is quad exynos, but just because it is quad does not mean that it is better, the S4 has way more performance per core (this is far better than having an additional 2 cores as android and apps doesn't fully utilise 2 cores let alone 4, they just aren't optimised in order to properly make use of the cores), a lot more power efficient and better for heat.
Eh? What features is the HTC one series phone lacking compared to the GS 3? The GS 3 has nothing at all really, only the standard stuff like HDR, panorama etc.. With the one series/sense V4 you have a load of effects, depth of field, vintage warm and cold, aqua, distortion amongst a ton of other things as well as slow motion recording, 16.9 aspect ratio amongst other things. The touchwiz software on the note II has a lot of features that are comparable to the one series phones, not the GS 3....
2GB of RAM (only 1GB on the international GS 3 although the LTE variant for the UK has 2GB) is a nice touch but it doesn't really provide much of an advantage, only good thing that it brings is you can switch from a demanding game to the browser, which would have 3 or so tabs open without them reloading. With a chip like the S4, apps launch pretty much immediately anyway.

No... probably the number one reason people go for the One S over the GS3 (or One X, or Galaxy Nexus) is the form factor, and the build quality. Really, with the feature sets being similar (and unless you want to quibble), the only REAL difference is size, and there are a lot of people that think a 4.7+" phone is too big. I have the Galaxy Nexus, and am lucky enough to have a plan that lets me update my phone yearly with no penalty. I'm getting the One S - the damn thing is speedy, the perfect size and is the most comfortable phone I've ever picked up.
Just ordered a HTC One S to replace my S3. I always get the latest phones and I bought the S3 to replace my Galaxy Nexus that was stolen. I almost immediately regretted buying the S3 because of its size. I'm a big guy, have big hands but nevertheless, the S3 is just too big. 4,3 Inch is more than enough for me. A few weeks ago I helped buying a friend a new phone and he wanted to stick to HTC coming from an old HTC Desire. The moment I took the phone in my hands it instantly fell in its place and I was amazed by the difference in build quality. It's a HUGE difference! So, tomorrow my S3 will go online and I cannot wait to lay my hands on my new One S.

What the subject says... thanks.
Well considering the Nexus 4 runs on stock Android and the battery is 2100 maH; the One S is only 1650mAh and running Sense I'm pretty sure the Nexus 4's battery life is going to be way better.
You can't judge yet because the 4.2 version on the nexus phones is buggy as anything, not performing as well as it could.
In theory it should be the best there is (apart from the likes of the note II, MAXX etc.), S4/adreno 320 + very power efficient IPS display and a next gen 2100mAh battery with very well optimised software = great battery life.
Currently going by reviews the one S battery sounds way better at the minute, even the optimus G (with LG's software) is better!
@Vandam500
sense V4 is very well optimised with the S4 chipset etc. it shouldn't make much difference if any at all compared to the S running on stock android when it comes to battery life. Plus we don't need a huge battery as we only have a 4.3" qHD display, not a 720P 4.7"+ display like the nexus 4 etc. plus we have the most power efficient chipset there is, so there really is no need for the bigger battery especially when the battery life is already the best there is (4-5 hours spread across 1-3 days with heavy usage) aside from the likes of the note II, MAXX etc.
Although I wouldn't have minded sacrificing a few mm for a bigger battery.
EDIT:
Actually do stock based android ROMs like CM 10 etc. not have worst battery life compared to sense based ROMs?
I love the One S but I'm considering the N4 if batt is better, bigger screen, and jb. If batt is worse, then I probably will just keep my One S.

I don't know about that. I read a review that said the battery life was considerably worse than the LG Optimus G although it is a variation of the phone and that they were sort of disappointed with that. But I mean wireless charging is pretty cool and I hope it becomes standard. hehe
I believe the battery life trumps the HOX and the S3 though, not sure in comparison with the HOS though. I'm assuming the Nexus get about 12 hours with moderate use...

That was most likely due to software problems... I mean several reviews said the phone was overheating. Also, Google is constantly working on it, pushing out updates and such. By the time they release it, or shortly after (I hope not) they'll have it all fixed.
Software can have a HUGE impact on battery life, especially when they're porting it to a new cpu and everything. Having to write new drivers and all.
It'll have batter battery life than the One S, or at least the same.
So i've been planning on getting a new phone for a while now and I love the speed of my One S. Has anybody used the One X? How fast would you say it is in comparison because I think the One S seemed faster but then again I haven't used a One X with the sense 4.1 update and I know that was a huge update for us. The phone got a hell of a lot snappier and smoother. I was planning on getting the nexus 4 but if you look at the forum for that the battery life and build quality is extremely disappointing.

Nice and brief lol!
Only the memory is slower, the processor is faster and the GPU is better. Other than that, it's slightly fatter and can't hold a charge for long
only advantages of the X are:
- screen
- NFC
- more storage
one S (s4):
- better CPU chipset for performance, heat and power efficiency
- faster
- aluminium uni-body
- much better battery life
- better audio
- 1080P recording is smoother
However, JB has made a huge difference to the X for audio, performance and battery life (but it still isn't as good as the S and plus chances are the S could improve even further in these areas when it gets JB)
You want to be looking at the X+ or preferably the XL if you don't need any more than 32GB of storage.

Cheers for the info. I'm not that interested in how good the One X hardware is because the One S is fast enough it's just I long for a phone with a hd screen that is larger than 4.3 so the One X fits my preference perfectly. I also need more storage for my music collection and the price of the One X is really good now so I want it. The only thing that lets the One S down is the screen. It's not bad but a pentile super amoled display at a qhd resolution is hardly something to boast about in late 2012. What do you guys think about the Nexus 4? I really wanted to get it but after looking at the threads there are so many design flaws with it and the battery life is supposed to be terrible. (One X battery is better)

Really informative reply thanks. May I ask why the audio on the one x isn't as good? Surely sound output through headphones is just as good as they both use the beats amp? Or do you mean mics and recording? I've just looked at the One XL and in the UK it's confusing, they sell it at a Qhd resolution and it's a compeltely different phone to the american XL. I do want the One X+ but at £470 it's really not worth it. That's an extortionate amount of money for an HTC phone and everyone knows that HTC phones lose their value incredibly quickly

No problem
Regarding the nexus 4, it looks great, however;
- camera not as good
- battery life not as good
- audio not as good (more so the loudspeaker performance)
Personally the only advantages it has over the S (that apply to me) are;
- better NLED
- better and bigger screen, although quite a few users are saying the screen looks washed out compared to other LCD based screens
- better software support and you get updates much quicker
Although there is something wrong with the software on the N4, the battery life should be much better and I am betting that a software update will improve it so it will be as good as the S if not better (S4 pro + 2100mAh + power efficient display and with stock android, which should be very well optimised thus we should be seeing much better battery life from it )

Thanks for your opinion. I actually considered the GS3 but after looking at many sites and youtube video comments the One X comes out on top and the screen is a big priority of mine and the SGS3 has an inferior screen that is no where near as bright as the One X. If I'm honest the only 2 types of phones I will ever consider at this present time are HTC phones or a nexus device.
International or North American/Australian One X?

I own an AT&T HTC One X (One XL everywhere else) and my girlfriend owns the One S (S4). My impression? They're exactly the same aside from mine being better tuned... Which is to be expected.
My screen is definitely nicer though.

No problem, only suggested the s iii cause it fit all your needs, hd screen, bigger screen, not to mention it (unlike HTC current phones and nexus) has the micro sd slot which you said storage was a big deal for ya

International one X isn't too great compared to the dual core one

Speaking as a hox owner and comparing it to the one s of the missus: there are a few big advantages of the one x: better and bigger screen, better sound and more storage. The better speed of the one s is not noticeble. It depends on what you find important in a phone. Never in the world would i trade my one x for a one s.

Well I've found a good deal on the one x+ so I'll probably buy that if I get the money! Massive amount of storage less reflective screen. Better battery life. I'm drooling haha!

I agree with this guy. I'm lucky enough to own both and an Optimus G Pro (I work for AT&T), and for ME, I prefer the One (and I actually like the Optimus Pro G more than the GS4). Both the One and S4 get comparable battery life. My rooted one gets 5 hours screen on time with 16 hours off the charger and will still have around 25% left. GS4 doesn't quite match that But it's not rooted and is all stock. They seem to both get through the day with no issues for me.
I won't make a long review as all three of these flagships are great, and the "down sides" to each is all really nit-picking, but here's why I like the One the most:
1) HTC Sense is now lighter than Touch wiz. In fact, all the cool features that I like about the GS4 make the phone seem to lag, or get stuck (like pausing while switching to landscape).
2) The GS4 reminds me of the GS3,just with added features (having owned a GS3,this bores me, but if you never owned a galaxy s3 then this won't affect you)
3) having kids the main selling point for the one is with the camera. Though it has less megapixels than the GS4, the Ultra pixels allow in more light. Also, it has both software and hardware image stabilization, while the GS4 only has software stabilization. Having two kids this was really important to me. The camera on the One doesn't look as good when zoomed in (because of the Ultra pixels) but I almost never get a blurry picture with the One whereas I do get a few on my GS4.
4) the screen on the one is just absolutely gorgeous. I prefer the truer colors of the One than the over saturation of colors on the Galaxy s4. However some people do prefer a more vibrant colors of the galaxy s4. The One has the best screen I've ever seen.
5) the build quality of the HTC One is absolutely amazing. It just feels like a work of art.
6) you get double the storage space with the HTC One as you do with the Galaxy s4 for the same price. At the moment SD card slots are becoming less important not just because of cloud storage but because apps have to be stored on internal storage. So the only thing SD cards are good for are pictures music and videos for the most part.
7) and lastly, because I love rooting my phone, the fact that the HTC One hardware and software are the same in both the US model and international model makes the development community bigger for the one in that I can flash roms made by people in different countries. With the GS4, the US model and international model are different making any international roms incompatible with the US galaxy s4.
As I said they are all great devices and like the post before me it really comes down to personal preference. everything that I listed above is all really nitpicking because the phones have their advantages each in their own right.
You really can't make a wrong choice here. I hope this helps!

I think S4 is a better choice cause it has replaceable battery... so u can use it a lot....
It all depends really if you prefer touch wiz or sense. Also if you want a removable battery or not. I picked the Gs4 because of the battery. As soon as I got my phone I picked up a ZeroLemon 7500 mAh battery and geat a solid 2 days of heave use and 2 1/2 to 3 days with medium use.

I have the ONE and my battery life is great also..once rooted amd you gain control over the processors....you can get the same amount of battery life

Neither. If you are wanting a phone for long term, you would be better off waiting for Snapdragon 800 CPU phones that are going to be coming out soon instead of getting a S600 CPU phone like the S4 or One.
I got a S4 and bought a aluminium battery cover (not case, just replacement battery cover). Doing so improved the build quality of the S4 substantially for me. I flashed the Google Edition rom because I dont need all the samsung features, really improved my battery life as well.

ok let me tell you my optinion about +/- of htc one
+Awesome Design
+Bright Screen
+Smooth software
+Awesome sound
+Full HD screen
+GPS works very good (I Don't know how it works on S4 but on Dell Streak it was awful)
-Overheating!!!
-Have only 1 dead pixel [annoying anyway]
-Only 32GB [But only 26GB is available for usage] and No MicroSD card place
-Unremovable Battery
-Charging takes a bit longer
-Camera is 4 Mpixel [In spite of "UltraPixel", Image Sharpness of S4 is much better]
-Batterylife is not that good if you like to play games
-You just NEED a case cover because the aluminium in the back side can be easly scratched (not big scratches)
Аlthough its overheating, it doesn't start to lag, but Galaxy S4 does
think that HTC one.

I'd probably take S4 for the sexy screen. Then again HTC has awesome looks and feel..
Personally I bought S4.
