Anyone experience issues with the wallpaper on the desktop getting cleared out? I've set wallpaper several times and end up reverting to a black background after a couple of days.

I don't know if that's your case but I've heard that hiding the system bar on rooted devices has the side-effect to remove the wallpaper.
Are you maybe using some app that does that?
I have Lecture Notes set up to hide the system bar that must be it. Thanks

I installed the GO Launcher EX that came with the Google Apps RAR in the developer forum and noticed that I am unable to set my own custom wallpaper. I am only able to set a Live wallpaper or the default one that comes with GO Launcher EX. Anyone else have this problem?
When I attempt to do so, I go to the gallery, select my picture, crop and size it, then try to set it. It does the whole "Saving" thing but when returning back to the launcher, nothing has changed.
I've tried both from the Wallpaper option on "Menu" as well as under Theme Settings in GO Launcher EX.
Also, anyone know of a way to change the Amazon lock screen? The Amazon lock screen is still present after installing GO Launcher EX and will change the wallpaper to one of the random lock screen ones after turning off the screen and locking the device anyway...
Thanks in advance!!
EDIT: I should also note that I am rooted.
I have the same problem but am not rooted. I would love to disable Amazon's rotating wallpaper in favor of one of Go Laucher's.
I was planning on going into the system files and locate the folder its pulling the wallpapers from. Hopefully all we have to do is replace them with the wallpapers we like. Go launcher wallpaper doesn't shift left and right for me either when screen moving.

the problem seems to lie in the Fire's own stock lock screen. given the fact that it is rooted, see if you can disable the stock lock screen (using No Lock from the android market) and replacing it with something like Go Locker or WidgetLocker (though some say WidgetLocker doesn't work well)

The wallpaper for the launcher is located in the launchers apk. The wallpapers for the lockscreen are in framework-res.apk the standard place for an aftermarket launcher to pull wallpapers from is framework-res.apk (correct me if I'm wrong. The rom would pretty much have to be custom to fix this. Therefore it would be best for us to get a working recovery(twrp or clockwork using short presses to move through menus and long presses to select) then focus on ICS or HC(probably better off ICS) so we have a soft home, menu, back button.
Then changing wallpapers would be a breeze.

I got no lock to work. Same solution used to get Android Market to work. Get Titanium Backup installed (need the paid version) and you can use it to change the installed No Lock app to a system app. Reboot and it works fine. Will need to have your Kindle Fire Rooted.
Ok, Now I have No Log working, but how do I replace the Lock Screen?
GO Launcher EX wallpaper, make it stick
It's not a question of disabling the locker; regardless of whether the phone locks or not, the default Kindle slider screen appears on wake-up, and after sliding, the default Kindle wallpaper is there instead of GO Launcher's wallpaper.
I, too, am greatly annoyed by this.
If pyrostic is right, then regrettably there's no simple way to fix this. Which would suck. (Many of us are not developers.)
Widget locker works well for changing the lockscreen wallpaper at least..

It won't stay after you restart.
Benjyp's procedure worked for me. I posted more specifics about what you can do about them.

OK. I've got the wallpapers to not change back to the Amazon ones by changing permissions on the /data/data/com.android.settings/files/wallpaper file, but I can't get scrollable wallpapers to work. I'm using the long rainbow one that came with Go Launcher but it's fixed and won't scroll. I've tried changing the settings in Go Launcher to the Default setting (to allow scrolling wallpapers) but that didn't help.
Anyone else having this problem?
Would you mind sharing how you changed permissions? I.e. what app used and changed from/to what?
My mom downloaded a live wallpaper and like the others, it keeps getting changed back.
so to stop it from changing wallpapers you have to root it?
yea gotta root to stop it from changing wallpapers. I feel like a solution will come out that doesnt require root...hopefully

Thanks, that solution works for me.
EDIT: i remedied my problem by installing Slideshow Wallpaper app. A freshly updated app that i was not aware of when i initially searched for an app like this. If anyone is looking for a great, simple, app that will change your wallpaper at a set interval, then look into this app.
i use "Custom Wallpaper Slideshow" app. It is a good app except for one dilemma, and that is the scrollable wallpaper option DOES work, but if the image size isn't an exact specific size, only the bottom half appears at the top half of your screen. It remains scrollable, you just don't see the whole image. i fixed this by, as i mentioned, resizing all my images.
A weird problem occured after deleting a bunch of apps. None in which should have anything to do with wallpapers, home screen, or sense in general except "Most Recent Apps" widget. Even still, i don't see how this would effect my wallpapers not scrolling anymore.
i also reverted back to not using CWS and just regular images that i know are scrollable. (i use ViperS Rom and its default wallpaper that comes shipped is scrollable). However, none of these were scrollable anymore. i found it weird that these were not scrollable, but CWS (though not working correctly) still are.
i tried different sizes but either have not found the right NEW size, or it just isn't possible to remedy the CWS bug.
i have tried restarting. Trying different settings. Apex is set to scrollable. i still can't figure out what happened.
Does anyone have an idea, or perhaps could recommend an app other than CWS that does the same thing (changes wallpaper at set intervals) unlike the default HTC one that can only be changed every time the screen is turned on or whatever.
As you guys can see here, from my lockscreen I am using simply Chronus as my single widget on both lock and homescreens, but anytime I tap on it to refresh, my old wallpaper comes up - I am currently using Muzei to rotate a folder I recently made, not using that one that pops-up anymore. What can be done?
EDIT: I believe it's an live wallpaper thing, since the stock ones happen just the same. It's kind of awkward, but apparently is a android and app's limitation.
Can anyone delete this?
Hi all,
Sorry for the silly question, but this is driving me mad. I tried everything I could think of, followed a few tips, but still have the same picture...
I want to have a picture of mine I downloaded to the phone, I selected it from settings but it doesn't work of course.
I am on MIUI 7 by Xiaomi.eu 5.12.4 beta
I tried it from the settings screen but only option seems to be to choose online, other options seem to be for main wallpaper and changing them has no effect... I use MultiPicture Live wallpaper as a wallpaper, and even tried an option there to change the lockscreen.
Any tips?
Thanks,
Julien

I think you use a custom launcher? If yes, you have to go to settings, apps, default and then chose stock miui launcher as default launcher. On the stock launcher homescreen you can then swipe with 2 fingers (1 from the left side of the screen and 1 from the right side of the screen, towards the middle of the screen). Then you can change the lockscreen wallpaper. After that you can change back to your other launcher. This is a known bug/feature
Thanks. Will try this now! You are right, i am using Google now as launcher
It worked a treat. Thanks again!
I hope they fix this sometime, because this is a pain in the ass
I've dabbled with android programming before and am interested in getting back into it. I just got a new phone (LG G5) and noticed that it has an animated lock screen that changed effects as you swiped to unlock.
I was wondering how I could go about creating a wallpaper such as that. Not just a looping animated background, but something that would change based upon input such as a swipe. I can't find any reference material close to making something like that and was wondering if it was even at all possible. Maybe it's only a manufacturer thing? Or does someone have a reference or good starting point/idea to point me towards?
Thanks!

What you're talking about was an effect of the lockscreen, not the wallpaper, the lockscreen overlays the wallpaper. By this example you might can get what you're looking for by modding your launcher to give the effect over the wallpaper and your app drawer or any other screen that has your wallpaper background.
The problem with your animated wallpaper idea is that animated wallpapers have a preset continously changing image so your idea isn't the sane because you're talking about something that would need to react to random touch input instead of a preprogrammed series of animations. It's not about where you want it to do it, it's about when and how you want it to do it.
It may be simpler than I'm thinking though.

i know this is an old thread. I recently developed interest in lock screen programming. I know building it from scratch would be very difficult. Especially since lock screen is used for security inside many application nowadays. But I was wondering if I could only change the animation for when you unlock the screen.
