I've dabbled with android programming before and am interested in getting back into it. I just got a new phone (LG G5) and noticed that it has an animated lock screen that changed effects as you swiped to unlock.
I was wondering how I could go about creating a wallpaper such as that. Not just a looping animated background, but something that would change based upon input such as a swipe. I can't find any reference material close to making something like that and was wondering if it was even at all possible. Maybe it's only a manufacturer thing? Or does someone have a reference or good starting point/idea to point me towards?
Thanks!

What you're talking about was an effect of the lockscreen, not the wallpaper, the lockscreen overlays the wallpaper. By this example you might can get what you're looking for by modding your launcher to give the effect over the wallpaper and your app drawer or any other screen that has your wallpaper background.
The problem with your animated wallpaper idea is that animated wallpapers have a preset continously changing image so your idea isn't the sane because you're talking about something that would need to react to random touch input instead of a preprogrammed series of animations. It's not about where you want it to do it, it's about when and how you want it to do it.
It may be simpler than I'm thinking though.

i know this is an old thread. I recently developed interest in lock screen programming. I know building it from scratch would be very difficult. Especially since lock screen is used for security inside many application nowadays. But I was wondering if I could only change the animation for when you unlock the screen.

Hi guys
I'm a total 'droid n00b so please be gentle with me.
I know I have seen Android devices which kinda "spread" an oversized wallpaper across all the home screens so that scrolling through the home screens also scrolls across the wallpaper. I just tried to set an oversized wallpaper and it made me crop it to the screen res
Is this a feature which is only available on some phones, or is there a tweak you have to load first... or am I totally blowing it out of my arse and the whole thing is a figment of my imagination?

get rid of Sense by replacing it with ADW Launcher. It will allow you to crop a wallpaper correctly for your home screen and it runs WAY faster with a ton more features. I would also recommend getting the paid version of the app. You can get it from Market.
also.. after you get ADW and are running it... go into Accounts & Sync in your settings and disable all of the Sense stuff.
edit: thought i should also add this recommendation. if you like the sense widgets and hate to part with them. or the weather clock...etc. you can get an app from market called Beautiful Widgets. it runs way faster than sense and does the same stuff... again with more options.
Errr.... that's all very nice but how does it relate to my question?
It is sense that is causing the wallpaper to display as it is, change sense back to the android stock option by removing sense will then enable the wallpaper you wanted.

In response to your original question, most Android devices and versions do spread the wallpaper across all the home screens, including older versions of Sense. Sense 3.0 however uses vertical wallpapers that do not scroll, it is a new feature in this version. I imagine they did it because of the 3D rotation of the home screens and it would make stretched wallpapers look weird when swiping, but who knows.
It would be pretty complex to have each screen with its own section of the wallpaper seperate, spin, slow and expand, and finally rest at the ending homescreen.

It seems that it is not possible to have different wallpapers for home and lock screens using standard capabilities of HTC Sense. However, this topic may give you some ideas how to get what you want.
Go to personalize - display - lockscreen style. Choose wallpaper and hit settings. Then you can choose between "use home wallpaper" and "use custom wallpaper". Choose the custom wallpaper you want to and this will be shown as the lockscreen wallpaper. Can be another one than the one for the home screen

It is entirely possible to have two different wallpapers, however I don't think it is possible to have a Live Wallpaper at the lockscreen and a static wallpaper at the desktop. It is possible to have a Live Wallpaper at desktop and a static one at the lockscreen though.
The person above me had already posted the solution so I shall elaborate no further. Cheers
I am a pretty much a noob to Andorid modding. I have had 3 Andorid phones in the past few years and rooted them all, but always did each one by following really good tutorials. However, I really need to be able to change my lockscreen wallpaper and use something like gesture lock over the wallpaper. From what I've read, it's possible to flash a custom lockscreen, and there are methods to change the wallpaper by utilizing something like a weather widget and changing the graphic. Is this something that I can do on a rooted Razr Maxx HD running 4.1.1? I am willing to do it the hard way, but I would need a reference to follow to know what to do. I really need to change my lockscreen wallpaper, any help on how to do it would be appreciated. Basically, I want to regain what I used to have with the CM7 lock screen. It was a gesture based unlock with a custom wallpaper. I will use the app "Gesture Locker" from Google Play for the gestures, I just need to know how I can change the wallpaper on the lockscreen. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on how to do this.

Just an update to let anyone who's interested know, you can change the lockscreen wallpaper with an app called "Simple Image Wallpaper Pro". Only the pro version allows the lock screen wallpaper to be changed, but there is a free version too. So, problem solved!
As you guys can see here, from my lockscreen I am using simply Chronus as my single widget on both lock and homescreens, but anytime I tap on it to refresh, my old wallpaper comes up - I am currently using Muzei to rotate a folder I recently made, not using that one that pops-up anymore. What can be done?
EDIT: I believe it's an live wallpaper thing, since the stock ones happen just the same. It's kind of awkward, but apparently is a android and app's limitation.
Can anyone delete this?
Hi all
I've noticed from using the phone that when you set a custom Wallpaper or Lock Screen wallpaper, the phone lags on turning on, the lockscreen takes a second to come on (sometimes), and the same with the desktop wallpaper.
Seems to me the problem is tied directly into the theme engine.
Is there any way to get around this without having to use the Stock preset themes and not altering the wallpapers?
If there was an easy way to simply mod / add the wallpapers you want to use into the theme, or remove the wallpapers from the theme entirely then we may not get the lag any more?
Thanks for reading/

Hi all
This doesn't happens when I use standard themes without additional wallpaper, mainly during pressing power key or waking phone after pattern lock, I think new lollipop upgrade may solve this issue
