*REWARD -Tablet lost Imei and network after attempting root - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'll give as much info as i can and will REWARD whoever can help me with this situation!
I have experience with different samsung phones rooting through odin and others never having much issues. This is first attempt with a tablet fyi.
Samsung tab 2 lte edition from at&t i497 5100
Attempted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957165
root method through odin and everything was going alright until halfway through it said failed. I then rebooted into download and attempted this version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101044
This method seemed to work as i was able to boot into recovery cwm and go through the options. I then ran the supersu zip and verified that the appdrawer had it in there. things looked ok i thought. so now i was ready to download a rom. Attempted the most current CM10 nightly through recovery.- it failed giving me the status 7 error. i then went to the only post about status 7 in the all things tab 2 thread and attempted to download mobile odin but when i loaded the app it said not compatible with my device.
I then attempted to download a stock rom and remove root from phone because sometime in this all i lost the ability to use wifi and my imei showed missing in the settings. no attempt at unrooting seems to work because of the cwm not allowing me to use roms. I attempted to recover the nandroid i made the minute i "rooted" and its giving me the md5 sum error as well.
Please help!!

I'm worried for you, in that you have corrupted your efs folder - did you make an efs backup? as far as i'm aware, you can only recover your efs if you have backed it up. good luck.

If it helps I am an At&t store manager, and i do have access to a identical tab that is about to be sent back from a return. I am scared though of corrupting that one and then being in a worse situation. If i knew i could create a backup that could be moved to my personal one i would do it. is that possible? I'm not familiar with an efs backup but am researching it to check now.

I'm not sure it would, as a store manager you will know imei numbers are specific to each device!...you could swap the tabs over, but I don't condone that

Did you by chance rename the backup after making it? That has caused me problems in the past.

Sorry I can't help, but is this the 7" tab? I have the 10.1" tab 2 and my model number is i497... LTE edition.

I totally understand what you mean now, i wasn't thinking a backup would switch over the imei i just thought it would contain whatever identifiers needed not realizing it would have the actual number in that.. I used total commander to look into the root file and there is a efs folder with all the separate folders "bluetooth, wifi, and other folders".

I did rename it when i was going through a fix for the md5 sum issue, i was going through adb and couldn't navigate to the folder so i did rename it... i cant imagine that the recovery would have an issue just because of that? i wouldn't be sure what to name it back to.
I wonder if Samsung has any option for me to send it in and get them to reboot the thing. This sucks!

i'm pretty sure samsung has an option for you to send it in, but depending on what firmware your running/whether the flash counter has increased in download mode - your warranty would be void - or you may have to pay some $$$$ - they may even refuse. i don't know for sure though.

I appreciate you talking me through the different things, even if it doesn't fix my issue. I am probably going to call samsung to see but my flash counter is reset from triangle away and the firmware looks like it did before i ever rooted. but it says modified when i go to download mode so im sure they would know in a second that its my fault

if the counter is at 0 it sounds like you still have root access, do you?
you could try flashing a stock firmware through odin , which ever came with the tab - 4.0.4??? get the firmware from sammobile.com - that may :fingers-crossed: get rid of the modified status.

You're missing the point! He has a corrupt imei number. He can flash that but still won't be able to get signal.

I had a simaler issue with my S3 (d2tmo) as well as many others. Qpst I believe is what I used to get the imei back. I had the links all save on the laptop but it died 3 moths back. (10 year old dell). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997 try that out see if it will help. I have some of the other stuff saved that I will upload to you. Search the issue on S3 (us variants) it could help.

Samsung Rocks!
Great news! Samsung had me send it in and they repaired it in less than 2 days of having it. their ticket email says this
Problem found: ESN corrupted
Solution: Replaced PBA
-- not sure what a pba is but they didn't charge me for the repair! I'm taking this as a gracious sign from above that i should leave it well enough alone and enjoy it the way it was made! I'll just stick to rooting my s3 and doing what im comfortable with. I appreciate all your words of help and advice to try and narrow down a solution.

First of all, you flashed some things not meant for your device. the CF-Autoroot method is designed for the Pxxx models, NOT the SGH/SCH models. Flashing this on your device flashed partitions it shouldn't have.
Second, the PBA is the mainboard. I bricked my tab a few weeks ago (typo in my updater script) and they replaced the PBA also. Samsung warranty is pretty great. Glad you got it fixed.
Always, ALWAYS, be sure you flash a ROM/recovery/etc designed for your specific device. The pxxx tabs and sgh/sch tabs are 100% different in hardware AND partition layout. If you flash a ROM for the Pxxx tab on a SGH/SCH tab, it will overwrite imei. Moderators REALLY need to suck it up and create separate forums for the lte tabs.

IMEI Messed up, help please!

I was told to post here so:
Hi,
Yesterday I flashed a custom ROM , the rom somehow messed up my IMEI number.
Then i went back to the forum and found out that everyone who flashed the rom got his IMEI messed up and we all got the same IMEI now, i still have calls working but im afraid they will stop working soon, i know what was my original IMEI, can anyone help us please. (Heres the rom i flashed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034130)
I saw that the devs on samsung captivate managed to restore their imeis, there should be a way to do that to the nexus s.
Same Problem with my phone...
same here
I'm restore my backup .. and nothing change
and imei still changed :S
Same here, i think the phone is as good as network dead.
Hi all, I also was unfortunate to flash this rom resulting in the changed imei issue. My Phone was displaying emergency calls only and i was unable to connect to data services. I used Odin to flash back to stock GRH 78 ticking the phone efs clear box . After rebooting i checked my imei number but it still displays the wrong number. However my phone now connects to the network and i can make and recieve calls and data is enabled. Not a full fix and i am not sure for how long it will work but definately an improvement on the very expensive paperweight i had. Hopefully a full fix will come soon.
Trying that~!
UPDATE :
Nope Odin again didn't help.
Isn't it kinda stupid to discuss this in not only one or two but four threads? I get it, you guys want a fix and I feel with you, but having four threads will only cause confusion.
How about you all agree on one and work together to fix it instead of dividing your efforts?

Can you explain what version of Odin you used - Odin3 v1.8 ??
What rom did you flash stock GRH78 ??
Did you use a .pit file and if yes which one ??
What boxes were ticked and de-ticked in Odin ??
Cheers mate
Hi,
I used odin 3v1.8 and the stock GRH 78 rom. I opened odin and loaded the
bootloader, Pda and scs files and ticked the phone efs clear box ,this was the only box i manually ticked all other boxes were left in their default state. i did not have a pit. file. Previous to using odin I had just unlocked my bootloader as it was locked. Odin won't work with bootloader locked all atempts to access download mode were met with a unlock bootloader screen.
After flashing I checked my emei no. but was disappointed to find no change. I then checked for system updates and clicked on the update which started to download. It then suddenly dawned on me that i had not linked my phone to my router and that data was enabled. I cancelled the Gingerbread update and went into notifications and saw my network instead of the previous Emergency Calls Only. A quick phone call verified that my phone was now connecting to the network. I then connected to wifi and installed the update.
I am still stuck with the wrong emei but can now connect to the network and
have restored my favourite rom from a nandroid. The only issue i now have is the
wrong emei but for now my phone functions perfectly

Y'all could try to look in the forums of the various Samsung Galaxy S variants, AFAIK there are ways to restore your IMEI on this kind of Samsung phone, maybe they apply to the Nexus S as well.

For those who have no baseband and null Imei on their i997...

Im not sure were to put this so called tutorial so mods feel free to move it to were it belongs if its not supposed to be here. I was having a big issue with my Samsung i997 thats was showing no baseband on settings, No imei null/null and of course didnt have any signal. I started a couple threads about things related to that. No luck, until a member called Truckerglenn pointed me to a efs .tar file he had made that fixed his phone.
So before i start, credit for the efs file goes to Truckerglenn i had nothing to do with that. Then, i want to make this clear, This worked on my i997, it doesnt mean it could work on other phones but for some reason i think it will. I messed up mine on purpose a couple times after i solve it just to see if it was a real solution or just luck. It worked every single time like a charm. With that said, i got to make clear i didnt have a copy of my original efs file. I have deleted the efs file a couple times also. So i think none of you could mess a phone worst than i did, and i still managed to bring it back to life using this method.... So lets talk about what i did:
First download Truckerglenns efs .tar file located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1438113
In my case i used the infuse unbrick ODIN file so i dont know if it works with any other firmware or not.
Open the ODIN file located on the infuse unbrick files and click efs clear, yes i know it sounds very risky and people have made clear that is not recommended but hey, you cant mess up your phone worst than you already have so. Anyways, put the infuse ODIN files were they belong, pit, pda and phone. Then here comes the tricky part, i used the Truckerglenn file in the csc box to flash it with the unbrick files.
Click start and the phone will flash the stock Froyo for the i997, wait until the flashing ends. Then when the phone reboots into recovery before hitting reboot go to wipe data/factory reset and click it. Then you can hit reboot phone and if youre lucky enough you will have your signal, restored imei number and baseband version.
Like i said this worked for me and i cant asure you it will work for you. But after all those weeks i spent dealing with this without success and having deleted efs many times and messing the phone that much, i didnt have anything to lose. Also thank Truckerglenn for his efs if this work on your phone, after all im just giving you an idea on how i made it work on mine but i didnt create a file or anything i just flashed it the way i just told you. Good luck guys and keep up the good work!
this happens to me as well, but flashing an efs didn't help me. any other ideas?
Step by step??

So, I am having same problem as u were. One thing that I want to make sure is do i clear efs and then flash ?? or just click the box on the efs clear and put everything and flash it??
So here is first option - You check on the clear efs box and then click "start". After it's finished, put other files and click "start" button again.
Here is second option - You check on the clear efs box then put all files and click "start" button and done.
which one is correct way to do this process??

Ok, my phone got fixed by AT&T. But it wasn't software problem. My radio chipset was burnt. I checked and when AT&T saw that, they just replaced my phone to new one. For free. Pretty happy now. Thanks for help tho
Thanks!
OMFG...I bricked my Infuse a while back and I thought all hope was lost. I have bought a Note since then but I wanted to sell it and wait for the Note2 while I could still get a pretty penny for it.
This worked like a champ.
I basically followed your instructions using the Unbrick package here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27286083#post27286083
I also checked the EFS clear checkbox. I didn't have to factory reset from recovery either. It just rebooted and I popped in my SIM and it worked!
So I haven't gotten to the stage where I do not have signal... but do plan on moving my infuse from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1. Through this process, it has been noted that you could lose efs. So before I tried to install the rom, I backed up my efs through root explorer. Within this app, all I did was copy my whole efs file and pasted it to my SD card. After this, should my efs be fully backed up? And if I were to install jb and WERE to lose signal, how would I go about restoring it? My efs is on my internal storage..
Thanks

It would be best if you informed us of the upgrade path you took.
Slim ROMs (I am assuming you are trying to flash a JB 4.2.2) are known to cause loss of IMEI if flashed directly from ICS. Best solution would be to flash a CM10 and then a CM10.1 before flashing SlimBean. I have followed this path and have had no problems although I have gone on to Rootbox 4.2.2.
scott.hart.bti's Unofficial CM10.1 post has instructions for the proper upgrade path, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28842232&postcount=1
andros11's "[Guide] How to Flash Jellybean" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878458
is an essential and important read to avoid any IMEI snafus.
Also, and this important since almost every JB ROM thread mentions it at one point or another: REMOVE your external micro-SD card from the device before flashing a JB ROM.
Hope this helps.

You may have to start fresh from GB [or Froyo]. That would be the best recommendation.
qkster's posts are valuable in how to get back to GB. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081

Unless you have your EFS backed up which you can flash via ODIN or Heimdall it is impossible to get tour IMEI back.
Best is to go all the way back to GB.

Do not even think about doing such a silly thing. This is an Infuse specific efs. You cannot flash it to the I-9000 or I-9100, for example. The partitions are different on different Samsung phones, they are not necessarily interchangeable.
Unless there are clear instructions available, you could end up with a very expensive brick.

[Q] Invalid IMEI after installing ROM

Hello guys,
I just installed 4.1.2 Android from 4.2.2 and now My phone can't read my SIM card. When I'm trying to unlock my phone with GalaxSim Unlock it says "Warning: invalid IMEI. Restoring an EFS backup before unlocking is advised." The IMEI code on *#06# and on my phone's box are different. I have no ideas what I can do because I have never had this problem before after ROM installing. How I can solve this problem?

thats the best way (link in above post) if you happen to of installed synergy rom at any time it would have asked about making one for you. also nandroid manager can backup it also so check and see if any of your nandroids have a efs partition saved. if not read post in link more than once before doing anything.

I followed all steps but there is some problem in Restore. My phone is rooted and I have Terminal Emulator. When I write "su reboot nvbackup' it works and my phone reboot. But when I write "adb reboot nv restore" it says "device not found". Could you help me? I cannot reply on that thread.

You need to reread the directions in the Comprehensive IMEI thread. You'll see why it's failing. I will say this though, "adb" is primarily a computer command so it's unnecessary on mobile.

I still do not get this. It says that I do not need ADB if I have Terminal Emulator and my phone is rooted. I just need to restore it in a some way.

I'll ask you this now before I explain to you the command, does your IMEI in Settings/About Phone match what's on your Verizon GSIII retail box? Cuz restoring your IMEI will not work right now if its the wrong one. What you just backed up could be the "broken" IMEI and restoring it will do you more harm than good.

IMEI codes are different. Now the IMEI code is 004999010640000. On my box the IMEI code is very different that one.

Aight, second question. Are you absolutely sure that you have a Verizon Galaxy SIII (d2vzw aka SCH-i535)? If so, proceed to read.
if you just performed this IMEI backup with the improper IMEI then the restore command will only reinsert this same wrong IMEI. You want your "proper" IMEI which is on the box to be backed up before you ever attempt an IMEI restore. If you have a CWM or TWRP rom backup then you should try restoring that THEN check if your IMEI is correct or wrong.
Do not post your proper IMEI. If it returns if/when you restore your rom in CWM or TWRP then just say "my IMEI is correct" or something like that. If you don't have a CWM or TWRP backup or don't know what I'm talking about then you're going to need a Windows computer and you'll need to Odin flash stock VRALF1 or VRAGL1 firmware tar. Make sure to unzip the file before using Odin, Odin flashes "tar" and "tar.md5" files only. If your IMEI is not restored at that point, then you'll need to reprovision your LTE sim card with the following code. It will erase your phone's storage. The dialer code only works o ICS software (so you'll need absolutely need VRALF2 or VRALG1):
Open the dialer and enter *2767*3855#
I'm stepping out for an hour or so. If you have any questions, hopefully someone else can provide input. If someone else things what I wrote above is unnecessary, please say so.
Edit: For clarity as well, I do not know if the VRALF2 or VRALG1 tar files format your internal storage (let's reasonably assume they do wipe /sdcard), so backup whatever important data you have on the phone to your computer or external sdcard.
Actually I have got SGS3 i9300. When I created this thread I didn't see that here is a subforum for i9300. Thanks for the help I will try it and let you know.

I'm actually considering doing this today. I lost my IMEI/ERI and restored them with the forbidden software but the problem I'm having is on some roms my google play store won't connect and it's been kinda frustrating and I don't know what else do, I've cleared store cache and data, plus every other fix I could find online. Plus it might be good practice for me if I have to send my phone back in the future as I bought my S3 rooted and unlocked.

The only thing I can chalk it up to is maybe there was something still wonky because I didn't Odin back and used the Repair Tool. I'm off today and not really interested in the football game tonight so I got time. I'll Odin back, reprovision and reroot, unlock and see what happens with play store after that, thanks for all your help. Learned alot from your posts dude...:good:

This was before I found the Samsung Repair Utility so you may not need QPST and you can just use the repair utility.
1) I restored my IMEI using this guide here: http://droidmodderx.com/galaxys3/?page_id=79
2) Please note that since I hadn't found the repair utility you may not need to do step one, the repair utility does both IMEI/ERI
3) Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44871571&postcount=3
4) We don't want to get XDA in trouble so I can't link the repair utility or have a mirror for it. I can only put you on the block and you have to find the house....
5) Once everything is ok flash your modem back up to whatever current modem you were using.
6) Also it may be best to just Odin back as I'm having issues with Play Store on certain roms.

IMEI Repair, HELP NEEDED

Hey all,
Ive been flashing things since early HTC Hero days and never had this issue before. I flashed a new kernel (Uber nightly if that matters) the other day and the IMEI is now 0, no network signal, cannot connect to services, random reboots, etc. Tried completely clean flash stock rom using guide at beginning of general thread running bat file (by windows), still nothing. The file seems to be corrupt until I can reenter the numbers so device recognizes and can get network. Went completely back to stock yet still have unlocked bootloader. Tried looking over the internet for some solutions, only found Octoplus IMEI repair but do not know if I need the box or not in order for it to work. Any alternatives or if anyone knows if the software works without having to buy the box. Want to avoid sending back to Google or LG. Links and suggestions are appreciated.
EDIT: no previous backup had been made to the file.

No, didnt previously make the backup of the file. I know it exists on the phone back and other places Ive seen but I need to inject that number back into system files so the phone recognizes it again. I didnt know of this issue before this but I wont be making this mistake again.
This probably won't help you after the fact, but I'll link this thread right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/modem-nexus-5-flashable-modems-efs-t2514095 and check the EFS Backup section.
You basically have to figure out a way to manually input the IMEI back into the EFS Somehow, the thread I linked might point you in the right direction.

Do you know how to get the tool to recognize the device, etc on how to use it. I downloaded demo to look into this yet no luck thus far on how or where device is to write to. I have drivers ,ADB, etc installed.

For now I would keep trying re-flashing factory images again, this time using the long method 2.
I have had this issue. It happened to me on November when I got the phone and wiped cahe. I fixed just Reformating cache on twrp and flashing a CM Rom. It returned my IMEI

try flashing a new bootloader for the device. i take no responsibility for what happens to your device after you flashed the new bootloader.

It is illegal to change it for another one. but the issue Op has is something about recovering his own withing allowed parameters.

Sadly, no. The imei number file is specific to the phone and to get it "injected" was considered illegal since people who steal the phone could, by theory, inject the new imei to sell a phone as new. There is things out there (sort of) on this yet nothing good can be done. I use TWRP now since the back up allows EFS folder as well, versus CWM that didn't. I haven't had the problem since on nexus 6 or lg g3. The only way I know how to "solve" it was warranty through Google for nexus 5, they sent a new one to me and took the bad one. Only they (the manufacturers LG and Google) can legally inject the phone back to working condition. In all, had to get new one because no real true fix out there (legally) since even recovering it may be an attempt at stealing, the manufacturers cannot distinguish one person from another. Wish I had better news. Hope that helps and you can get it resolved.
There is an app on*******. IT'S ILLEGAL TO CHANGE A PHONES IMEI NUMBER!!
You can't take a number of am old phone and put it on a new, even if you have both. I can't see its wrong to put the original number back though. I've started a thread and asked the powers that be to rule on giving out the apps name, etc.
Sorry if I revived this post...
I know how you feel.
If you message me I will send you a link to a blog I wrote on this subject, I didn't think it was possible to fix but you can.
I know it's illegal. But google supports custom roms and rooting. So they must understand that this can happen.
Uhhh, I think all of you are incorrect. You may want to check your facts or your phones. If you have the manufacturer's firmware, in my case it is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G, you can use the manufacturer's (or other) method to flash the firmware and the IMEI numbers will be reinstalled. I was required to login to their site, but that's why you should register electronics with the manufacturer when you purchase them. It might not even need a registered product. And, after I was able to recover the lost IMEI numbers, I noticed that I can freely change them if I desire. Soooo, maybe I'm breaking the law? I suppose that would all depend on my location because this phone is mine, I bought it, rooted it, put a custom ROM on it, then did the dumb a$$ move of arbitrarily deleting files that "just didn't look right". One of those was a key component. Keep in mind, possession is 9/10th of the law. I possess this phone so no matter what, they can only charge me with 10% of a crime.

[Q] Hard Bricked S3 Verizon 4.4.2

ON: Galaxy S3 4.4.2 Verizon(d2vzw) -->OK, I know you all may think I didn't read the other debrick threads, your wrong. I made this new thread because i HAVE tried endlessy every method of debrick on this forum and the internet, and no success. I was messing around with safestrap and decided to try and flash a rom called flashingdroid: for some reason. So i did as usual, boot into recovery(safestrap 3.75) and wipe current os and flash the new one. So i wiped my stock rom(after making a backup) and installed/flashed the new one(flashingdroid) and after seemingly a successful flash, i pressed reboot. Then it went downhill. One second after i pressed reboot, the screen flashed quickly, then shutoff, for good. I couldn't boot it or get into recovery or odin or ANYTHING. I tried the microsd method of debricking with minimal success. It will only give me one vibration, then black scree with that method. Nothing else has worked. I know this was a noob mistake somehow, but does anyone know any special tricks or something? Will a good jig maybe work? I have doubt verizon or samsung will accept it back(it was well rooted!). Please anything/anybody help! I really don't want to buy a new phone or jtag it. Thanks!:crying:
You may have read the debrick threads, but what you should have done from the beginning was read and pay attention to which forum you were in. You flashed a ROM for the International version of the S3 onto your Verizon S3. You almost certainly turned your phone into a shiny paper weight. JTAG may be your only hope. If you don't have one, check out mobiletechvideos.com. I'm not familiar enough with safestrap to know if that may have actually saved you since it is not a traditional recovery and I don't know if it touches all the partitions. In the future, research, research, and research, and pay very close attention to exactly what you are flashing onto your phone. For the Verizon S3, you should only flash ROMs from this sub-forum. And when using safestrap, you are restricted to only flashing ROMs with the same build number as what your phone is currently on in a stock condition.
Ok...Thanks

Confused About What's Possible for Modding a Stock Verizon S3
Can someone please steer me in the right direction? I have a Verizon Galaxy S3 running 4.4.2 stock. I recently rooted my phone, but I realize I am very limited as to any mods I can make due to the locked bootloader. Am I able to modify my OS in some way at all (Safestrap) to make my phone run better, or am I just too late in going about this? I've read so much on this subject, but the more I read, it seems the more confused I get. I want to be careful not to brick my phone and would love to see some precise directions on what I could do. Thanks a million for any help at all!

It's hard to compare this forum with the others. I believe the people here are the most knowledgeable and, like you, very helpful. Funny enough, or not, I posed a related question on another site (initials AC), and it took over 150 views and a week later before anybody offered a reply. Anyway, I can see there is lots of information on this forum about xposed, so now I'll go and learn as much as I can about it. Thanks again for your help!

I seem to have gotten into big trouble - I hope there's a solution. I learned all about Xposed and installed it along with about a dozen modules. Everything was working great, except the torch/flashlight... [I wanted that! ] so, I saw a download for a module on this forum to fix the flashlight... http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-flashlight-fixer-fix-devices-t2867267 . Well, since doing that, I think I realized that I should have left the flashlight alone! When I tried to reboot after adding the module to xposed, I ended up in what i believe is a boot loop. The Samsung screen comes on, and then it gets stuck on the red Verizon screen. I never dreamed that a module installation could cause this; and I guess I figured if it ever happened I could get into recovery mode and restore everthing. Btw, I had done a complete backup of my phone using Titanium on my sd card.
So, here's what I can/can't do now. I can push "down-volume-button" + home + power to get to screen where you can download a cusom OS - then pushing volume-up-button goes to screen that says "Downloading...Do not turn off target!! (Nothing seems to happen from here.) - - - I cannot enter recovery mode by pressing "volume-up" + home + power keys. When I do that I get the big yellow triangle with message - System software not authorized...go to nearest Verizon store. hmmmm.... So, am I hard bricked or soft bricked? Do I have a way out? Thanks very much for any help with this!

That's great news!!! Thanks!
I believe my phone was on 4.4.3. A file I used in my rooting process using Towelroot was I535VRUDNE1_I535VZWDNE1_VZW; I used Odin before for the root procedure, so the program of course is on my PC. Is there a thread around with instructions how to flash back to the stock firmware? Thanks again a million for getting back to me!

Instead of odin, you could try using samasung kies 3 and use its emergencey firmware recovery tool which dl's and intalls the correct, latest firmware on your device.
What you do:
Install kies 3 on your computer.
Boot to odin mode on your phone.
Click on tools in kies.
Select emergency firmware recovery option.
Follow on screen directions.
Hope I helped!

Shapes Blue & Root Wizard,
Thanks much for your replies. Is it possible for me, having had 4.4.3 on phone, to go to 4.3 instead of 4.4.2? Seems some people think that's an advantage, but I'm not sure. If I did do that, could I still run xposed?
Btw, RW, I tried using your idea, but when I was attempting to do the emergency Firmware Recovery, it asked for a computer code...??? So, that method doesn't seem to be a good route for me, but thanks for the tip!
You guys don't know how happy I am to have you come to the rescue! I've been using an old iPhone 4 for calls, etc.... during the day which I don't like at all! I'll be real glad to get back to AndroidLand. Thanks again!!!

I'm 100% sure the last update on the VZW S3 was 4.4.2 NE1. As long as you can root the phone you should be able to run xposed without an issue
And no you cannot downgrade to anything other than what your currently on

Still Not Up & Running...

Believe-it-or-not, I still haven't been able to get my s3 back up & running. When I open Odin3 v 3.09 and try to flash the firmware 1534VRUDNE1 . . . . .tar.md5 , it doesn't successfully load to the s3. I've attached a screenshot showing the Odin screen. It show "All threads completed. (succeed 0 failed 1) - btw, when I click on the firmware file within Odin, nothing appears in the box to the right of the AP field; is that correct?
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

I can't open it. It's in the newest word format docx. I personally haven't had to do this myself and it's been awhile since I've used Odin. Damn MS having to have all files in there own format
Edit: trying to download docs by Google and seeing if it opens

Can you get into recovery?
I was able to open it once I downloaded docs by google. It's been so long since I used it though. I can't recall off hand how to use it to be honest
