Rooting new model# sch-1925 - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well Ive been trying to root my galaxy 10.1 and no matter what method I try, I load odin and try to install cwm it always fails. I have all the latest drivers. But my model number is differetn from every rooting guide I can find.......I have the 10.1 running 4.1.2 and model # sch-i925. Anyone know of a method to root this model or know why odin keeps failing on me?

I think the Problem is with CWM. The device is very, very new and because it has LTE the Hardware will definitely be different from other modells. I think I've read the device number somehow in the context with TWRP. You might want to check the TWRP Thread if TWRP is compatible.

If you just want root, Try the framaroot app. Worked on my n8020 lte

Actually the Framaroot did work to give me root, but it acts strangely. It doesnt stick when I reboot and have to re-run the framaroot almost everytime I reboot, but at least I get some root access, to over-clocking apps and titanium back-up and a also my sdcard speed reader apps, but like I said, it doesnt stick and for a temp solution it works. Hoping someone is working on a perm root method for the sch-i925 witha working recovery, thats where Im really stuck now since no one has developed a working recovery for the sch-i925, tried all sorts of the cwm updates and also tried twrp. No recovery method will give me an option to install zip files from sdcard. I also cant load the new radio and/or flash any new splash screens. So any devs out there that want to work on this, Id gladly donate heftily to get some dev support for this new model.

Root
I tried Framaroot on my galaxy note 10.1 4.12 with MK1 build
i told it to install superSU when done
i clicked on sam got error of try another exploit error 9
i clicked on Frodo got error of same
i clicked on Aragom and it took a while and then came back like it worked
i clicked on superSU and got an error of There is no SU Binar installed, and SupierSU canot install it this is a problem
and if i try to unroot using the same method it gives me the same errors but it will not remove SuperSU
Any ideas???

Is anyone working on a root for the sch-i925 anymore? It's a great tablet, but it needs to be rooted. Is there anyone out there?

To remove Root:
This Root Remover has been tested with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" P3100 (tested on jellybean)
REQUIREMENT: A rooted Tab 2.
•After you download this file, move it the root of your external SD card( /mnt/extSdCard ). This is the micro sdcard you insert in tablet slot. Your /mnt/sdcard folder is internal memory (not recognized in CWM recovery).
•Reboot into CWM (recovery) using Quick Boot app or
•Power OFF your tablet, disconnect from computer and restart in recovery (CWM) by pushing and holding POWER & Volume DOWN/LEFT buttons at same time. When Samsung Tab 2 logo appears, you can release power button but continue holding volume button for a few more seconds. Note: If you've done this on other Samsung devices, you will notice that it takes longer before blue CWM v5.5.0.4 text appears ... just be patient.
•Once you are in recovery, use volume button (UP/DOWN/LEFT OR RIGHT) to move around and POWER button to select an option.
Select install zip from sdcard. Choose Root_Remover file you already copied to root of sdcard.
When unrooting is finished, choose reboot system now from CWM menu.
NOTE-By downloading and using this file you understand and agree that you bear all responsibility for the use and anything it may do to your tablet.
DOWNLOAD-
Root_Remover.zip (h--p://www.mediafire.com/?ty54o6lah25w41d)
Replace (--) with tt.
For Root (tested on jellybean):
Use chainfire root its d best i have it.
U can google it or find it on xda search.
Dont use the above method to remove the chainfire root as it can be easily removed from its modified superuser application but it works as any other root and is superb!
Enjoy,
Kunal

Hey amit i have edited the link in my post n its now working. Yeah dats the correct package use odin to flash it. Dont use this root remover on cf autoroot. Cf autoroot has the option to completely remove the cf root in its own menu. After u have rooted your device, use a root checker(available on play store for free) to check that you device is fully rooted. When u root or flash a custom rom or do anything fishy with ur device using odin, ur warranty gets void as there is a counter in the tab 2 which keeps a record of how many times u have flashed ur firmware wid a custom rom or rooted it or done something fishy. To get your warranty back, use the TriangleAway app (another miracle by chainfire) to reset the flash counter to zero which means u get ur warranty back. Its paid on playstore but is free on his xda page. It only works if ur device is rooted. Nd yes u can move apps to sd after rooting.
Good luck n happy flashing

unrooting problem
Kunal
As you said, I unrooted my tab.
Earlier, I was using official stock 4.1.1
Then I rooted my phone and updated it to cm10 nightly
But that cfw was not good enough (no offense)
To go back to my old stock, I restored my stock which I backedup while updating to cfw via rom manager
Now I wanted to unroot and used the app advised by you
But now when I'm tryin to update my tab using OTA by going under Software Update option in Settings, it is saying following message:
YOUR DEVICE HAS BEEN MODIFIED. SOFTWARE UPDATES ARE NOT AVAILABLE
how to fix this?
Factory reset should fix the issue.

Hey man, sorry for extremely late reply.
To fix this (Do this after unroot only) just connect your tab to kies and then it should recognize your tab and from there you can do the update and after the update you can follow the same root method to root your device. Good luck
PS-I was not able to perform the ota update because of the same problem and used kies to do the same.

I was having the same issue with vroot 1.7.7 auto updating I went as far as to do a system restore on my of to delete vroot and unplugged

Despite kind of clumsily clicking through, I managed to get her rooted/Verified with root checker from the Play store/Installed Titanuim Backup pro and froze a ton of useless apps - Runs fine and kind of nice to be able to freeze things. I did disconnect the wifi connection from my pc before I did the install of VRoot and I never had an issue FYI.
it failed. I tried several times. Can you guys help?
when connecting the tab it takes 10 minutes to establish the usb connection. after clicking the root button it takes another 10 minutes. meanwhile the chinese app shows a green field the a blue field and so on.
can you guys confirm that behaviour? thanks.

root issue
So I accidently updated and ran 1.78 file as opposed disconnecting my Internet and run 1.7.7. It was successful but i am getting su not found when running from android emulator terminal. Am I screwed to fix this? I did factory default tablet not it doesn't update 1.7.7 anymore..I could not understand the Chinese wording but clicking on green button it doesn't update like I saw finished when I did it on 1.7.8 version. When I rebooted, i checked root checker of course it's not rooted. Can anybody assist me?
I ran this root, which went well...random question, will the root hold if I do the system updates? I know some do, some don't. Figured I should ask before updating at all. If it won't hold, do we have a source for the updates?
so i have vroot 1.7.7 but still get the bluescreeen with a x meaning its not successful what am i doing wrong?

I kept, having the same problem, it's because of the August update.
You need to revert to the previous update. You can go to sammobile dot com and get the previous firmware for your tablet. Get the latest firmware that does not have Kies. Instructions for how to install it onto your tablet are on sammobile. You'll use Odin 3.09, and once you've flashed the previous frimware, turn off any wifi connection on your tablet so that it doesn't re-update. Then root using the method in this forum and you should be good.

I don't believe it's actually something you pay for. I could be wrong, but if so, it's not obvious.

From what I saw on QBKing77 video, people who have battery drain problems after rooting their Galaxy S6 should boot into stock recovery, then wipe cache, reboot system, and that should help with your battery drain. Also you may have to wait till Chainfire comes up with a auto root tool with a sprint tar file to unroot your phone, check his google plus page for info or help.

Root ATT S4 On 5.0.1

Hey guys! im Cole. Im new around here .
Anyways I managed to fix my phone from a soft brick using the 5.0 OTA Update and decided to root the phone.
Also This Didn't trip Knox for me. Im on 5.0.1
NOTE: I am not responsible if you happen to brick/Break your ATT GALAXY S4 (I337)I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WORKS ON THE I337M
Anyways on with the rooting tutorial:
Ok, On your S4 I recommend that you have the OTA Package which you can get from Here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934552137
And You should have at least 50% battery life left.
Ok. Go and download Kingroot V4.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
Install it. It should say that root access is unavailable. Click on Try to root.
It takes around 3 to 5 minutes to get root access. once done you should see at the top Root Successful or something like that.
If it fails I suggest that you either try again or just give up on rooting your phone.
But since ATT Has a LOCKED Bootloader we cant install a recovery i think. Anyways I hope you guys found this tutorial working and have fun rooting.
Oh yeah I forgot: Thank You Kingxteam for providing us with kingroot

It works. I'm using it to edit my coc host file. I'll add some screen shots to this post to confirm that this works. Oh yeah. Kingroot just installs purify which I removed like any other app
I'm using my phone so I just looked up photo uploader.
I can't upload images yet since I'm new but this does work as long as it's the newer kingroot I had to reflash the 5.0update last night because I installed a recovery and as all ways it fails due the locked bootloader so I tried to root again and it works fine.

If you don't like the kingroot su binary, check out super sume in the play store. It replaces kinguser with supersu. Costs $1. Well worth it imo.
Edit: I'm on build OC4.

Cool story.
But, this is so simple. Instead of having to flash this and that with flashfire and safestrap, you can just go straight from lollipop, use a one click root tool, and then use another one click app to switch to SuperSU and remove the other. It's simplicity, compared to keep root method, is great. Now, if we could just get someone to figure out how to do it with one step, we'll be golden. Many are thinking there is still no way to root straight from lollipop. This works. So, if these cats can do it, then another dev can figure out how to get SuperSU injected instead of Kingroot. If that can happen, then safestrap can also be updated to work with lollipop instead of having to swap kk kernel. This is progress.
edit: When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I tried several times to update to 0C4 after using this method. It failed every time. Then, I flashed the rooted 0C3 with flashfire and the update worked flawlessly. I wouldn't suggest this kingroot anymore to anyone. Cheers.

Anyone tried to root stock OC4? Using this method
Worked for me
Desktop version worked for me even did the sume 1.00 thing. All rooted with Lolipop and SuperSU
What recovery to use
What recovery can I use because I used Flashing to flash ClockworkMod Touch and on restart I trying to goto recovery I got a Yellow triangle saying "there is unauthorized att software found on this phone". Can I use TWRP or some new one I heard about called Philz?

Just used KingRoot to root my I337 with OC4. Took a few minutes and then took off with a percentage rapidly climbing to 100%. Unfortunately for those of us who cannot read Chinese you have to feel your way through the user interface.
Here are some notes to help (I should have grabbed screen shots and will try to do so):
Make sure your PC has the I337 drivers and they work.
Enable developer mode on the I337.
Download and install the desktop version of KingRoot.
Connect the I337 to the PC with USB. Let Windows do its handshake stuff.
Launch KingRoot, it will find the phone and give you a screen (all in Chinese) showing how to turn on USB Debug mode. For English that is in Settings | More | Developer Options. Check the USB debugging box.
Phone will ask to verify the computer RSA key, accept it.
Phone also asked twice to allow Google to check for security threats. I declined both.
KingRoot will see that it can talk with the phone and do its thing.
A few minutes later I had KingRoot and root access on my 5.0.1 OC4 phone as verified with Root Checker Basic. It has survived a power cycle with battery removal.
Added screen shots from phone. Need to get some from KingRoot.
When KingRoot has everything ready you will see some Chinese text followed by Root on a blue (IIRC) button. Click that to launch the rooting.
