Hello. Few months ago i rooted i9003 (used frankenstein mod). I did it for a friend, who is not tech savvy. Well, now i am stuck with systemless phone (thing won't boot up, can't flash zip because it restarts during flashing), and when i am for too long in CWM it will go into "Kernel Panic Upload Mode".
When i connect it from cwm or download mode it won't get recognized (no new devices in win7), and in kerner panic upload mode its unknown device (samsung usb drivers don't help, those drivers aren't in android sdk too).
So here's my question, can i attemp to flash kernel from cwm?
Also will USB JIG (whatever it is) solve the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Copy qwety kernel zip and its cm rom alph 4 not alpha 5 into external zip using PC card reader than flash in CWM.
After boot the phone, you can flash back to stock or stay on cm alpha4

Thanks mate. Should i flash this or some CLEAN CyanogenMod 10?
EDIT:
Sorry, was kinda blind, i will flash qwerty's cm 10 build.
So, i've flashed kernel and system successfuly, but it still kernel panics in system. Also i still can't get usb to work (not even charging when booted up) and no audio plays when i try to play mp3.
Can this be problem with software or could it be faulty hardware? Also i flashed latest qwerty's kernel and CM 10 alpha 4.
I currently have access to fully booted up system (for a short time) and CWM (that seems pretty stable), no usb connection.
EDIT:
-snip-
Everything on motherboard looks okay. Can it be radio sw that's broken?
Try flash back to stock. Thats the way to know what cause kernel panic. If stock rom look ok, than maybe your phone cant adopt custom kernel or rom.but that posibility is low.
Ps.. From the begining i assune your phone is gt-i9003

actually kernel panic mode should get resolved when you pull the battery out and put it back and reboot the device that is as far as I know.. better get back to stock firmware if you can

I have access to recovery and the bootloader but I cant transfer another rom via pc because it doesnt read it has a drive. Is there anything I can do?

Why not? TWRP can mount sd as mass storage. When you done that put boot.img somewhere easy to get at and use All-In-One Toolkit to flash it but the Toolkit calls it kernel so use that part to do it.
I had rooted and installed CM 10.2 to my tablet about two weeks ago. It was working fairly well but I decided I wanted to go back to my stock ROM. When I flashed the stock ROM the tablet caught in a boot loop after resetting, never getting past the Samsung screen. I can get into the stock recovery mode, but I have lost my root access. According to recovery mode the /efs has been corrupted. I cannot get into download mode, so Odin and Kies are of no use right now.
I can flash from my external sd card, but being a stock ROM without root it will not load accept anything that is not digitally signed. I've not been able to find a digitally signed ROM or recovery mode that would help, I even tried getting the ROM from Kies but to no avail. I can get command line access through my PC, but without root there is not much I can do with this.
So now I'm stuck with the worst of both worlds, a corrupted stock ROM with no root access.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
If stuck in bootloop, have you tried factory reset in recovery?

Unfortunately seems my backups ups were lost in the corruption. I know I made one, but unable to find it now. Also don't see an option for restoring the EFS folder in the stock recovery mode.

It just goes straight into recovery mode, no matter what I do. Never goes into or gives me the option to go into download mode.
I can get into adb and flash things that way, but if what I'm trying to flash isn't digitally signed it won't flash it because I lost root.

I think i have a answer, since youre stuck in recovery and it does register in adb right? download the toolkit here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341488
follow all instructions in the command prompt, choose your model and version of last installed software, if not listed choose 4.1.2
then choose option 3 to install a recovery image, i will reflash my device and make a recovery zip for you to flash in twrp and that should fix it or so i think.
Wait- why can't you get into Download Mode? (You've tried holding down "Power" and "Volume Down", I'm assuming?) Plus, you've mentioned "signed images"- which model do you have? (neither the N8000 nor N8013 require signed images, as they're factory unlocked).

Just so you know Volume Down is the one closest to the power button!!! and if you can get into download mode you could also flash a recovery from there and then install a rom.

I'm not sure exactly. Since something went wrong when I flashed my ROM I also lost my backup of the original Samsung ROM that came with the tablet. Not sure if that's a related problem or not. Due to not having a backup I downloaded a stock ROM from SamMobile and flashed that one. That's when I lost my ability to get into download mode and the CWM I was using.
It is a N8013. There is one wire leading from the battery labeled N8000, which caused some confusion to me, but it is a WiFi tablet, not 3G, and all other documentation says it's a N8013. Maybe Samsung uses similar internal parts.

Please, Please help, none of the guides have worked, Every guide is just a little different from my situation and nothing works
I have a att inspire.

boot unlocked
hboot 2.0.0
shipped with 2.2
I installed ran ace tool to unlock hboot. clockwork 5.8.0.0. Backed up. verified back up. Tried installing a few roms. No Success.
Then found a thread that referred to CWM needing flash boot.img, tried that, no luck. then I realized that I have flash a boot.img from a different rom. So I install TWRP 2.6.x which is supposed to flash boot.img automatically. So I went ahead and tried a few other rom installs, DR.Ni, Aosp, carbon, fallen Each rom preceded by a full wipe. No luck. So I verified back up again and "restore" .....no success. The process completed successfully, but every time I "reboot" it prompts for SU install, I have tried both accepting and declining this step neither work...Every reboot the HTC white screen green letters comes up, then blacks out, the HTC screen again, then TWRP loads.

restore backup "successful" reboot gives white screen HTC in green letters then to black screen, then back white with HTC and then CWM loads.
So if I can flash what do I need to do and if there are files I need please, I hope for the love of all that is holy someone can provide a working link.

Wait, you said you are unlocked and then ran the "ace tool." How? It's unsupported, and the files it needs are no longer there. What does your bootloader say right now? And do you want to flash a radio or a ROM?
If you want to flash a radio (why?), you do need S-Off. If you just want to flash ROMs, unlocked S-On is fine. Each time, you'd need go flash the ROM zip from recovery on your phone, then extract and flash the boot.img from the ROM zip in fastboot from your computer.

I don't care about radio, just wanted to try out some different roms.
Every freaking rom I fashed would just sit at HTC white screen. I tried like 6 different roms. Not one would work after a completed flash with either CWM of Twrp, that is why fastboot flash boot boot.img, then the problems began I think.

Yes, you need to fastboot flash the boot.img each time. Extract the boot.img from the ROM zip, then flash it from fastboot.
maybe this is the key element I am missing.

Okay,
Then when you do a restore from backup in CWM do I need to flash a boot.img. Is there a boot.img in the backup zip? would I need to extract it? or would "restore" do that.
anyone have a known clean stock rom and boot image. or update.zip the os version I was at originally 2.3.5
I believe restoration of backup doesn't require flashing the boot.img. But if it doesn't boot on restoration, try reflashing the boot.img.

I cannot get original backup to work...
Now that I have the process down I think I will be able to find some rom that I can see easily.
The whole reason I started this was to find a rom with a little bigger font or dark background to menus etc, being that I am visually impaired.
Dr No has white back grounds, very hard to see. I tried aosp but that one jjust sits at boot animation.

1. Download the stock rom from sammobile.com and you'll need Odin for flashing the rom
2. Turn your phone into Download mode by holding Vol.Down+Home+Power
Note:You battery mut not be less than 70%
3. Connect your phone to your PC
4. Open Odin as Administrator
5. Click on PDA and choose the downloaded stock rom and then press Start
6. I recommend you to make a factory reset and wipe cache partition before and flashing the stock rom
Good Luck!

only thing i did was change my boot animation. An thats it downloaded cydia substrate and winter board.. I removed both and tried to reboot and same thing happened. Also it was doing it before I even installed them and changed the boot animation.
I might of deleted some att apps but when I did a full restore and got them back I even fully uninstalled bootstrap with titanium back up. An say after I fully restored I turned my phone off and back on boom no imei no service etc..
My phone is rooted an im on firmware 2.3.6
I have no clockwork mod I cant get it too work or I know I cant get clockwork mod wit bootstrap.. But even when i went into boot recovery i was just in a bootloop at my motorola boot screen. an was not able to get into recovery no matter what button i pressed.

I hate to say it but it looks like you might have to flash a jelly bean STOCK(not custom) firmware, then start over from scratch, I think you are going to have to do it anyway because there are things in the stock jellybean that you're gonna need in place before you flash any kind of new ROM, it would also be easier that way than trying to fix your problem befire you start.

I was just sharing my experience. Eventhough I never tried any other recoveries, my recovery is doing very fine.

After I had a jelly bean update, only the touch version of TWRP seems to work. Every recovery I tried other than that is not working. The touch version is tweaked by some contributors in xda. Latest recoveries of twrp itself not works with my handset

twrp is touch to begin with, CWM is not but the newer versions of CWM are both touch and hardkey interface

did you try piwering off or pulling the battery out it back in and then use the button combination to boot to recovery instead if using bootstrap to boot to recovery?

yes as long as it is a stock version of jelly bean for your device, doesnt matter the version as long as its for your exact model number
you won't be able to do it through recovery though, you'll have to have a oc to flash stock firmware to your device, you'll need to download your stock firmware (not custom roms), the usb drivers for your device, and whatever program is required to flash your stock firmware. no other way, then you'll have to root again and install a recovery then you can find and flash whatever custom roms are available for your device

you might could just reflash recovery with a pc with whatever method your device uses on pc then flash a custom rom, its safest to just flash the stock and start over

there is a process that you can do through the terminal emulator app that you can make a backup of your imei and a method to restore it but you'll have to find how it is done for your device, do a google search for "HOW TO MAKE AN IMEI BACKUP FOR (your device model)" that should give you something.

Hello..!!
Do you've Atrix 2 mb865 ..?? if yes you can follow this step..
you need to download ICS/JB leak firmware for ur device AT&T/International version, then you need rsd lite to flash ur stock fw back to ur device via fasboot mode..
Root ur device again and then you need to install Boot Menu Manager from playstore . No Bootstrap anymore if you want to have KK rom on ur Atrix2..
Bootstrap only can be use if you're still on GB only..
Hope you got it my friend ...

Really...??
No.. you no need to backup your IMEI on this device.. But you must need to backup your CID .
You can do it via bmm recovery.. there was a option menu to do it when you're on recovery setting interface ...
Sorry if I'm wrong. ..

I told him I wasn't familiar with his device, I told him to flash a newer version of stock because it has parts he'll need if he flashes a newer custom ROM but he keeps wanting yo fix what he's running even though he's gonna have to flash over it anyway to get where he wants to be so I don't see wgat the problem is, flashing stock will get rid of his issue then flash up to whatever Rom he wants, I don't see why he doesn't just go ahead and do it now instead of doing what he's doing.
