I have the 8013. I am running the lastest update, installed with mobile odin with everroot. When I reboot, I get the standard Samsung keyboard in text mode. If I switch to handwriting mode, I have to reboot to return to text (typing) mode. What am I missing. Before the update, there was a button to return to typing mode on the handwriting keyboard. I can't find it now.
Thanks.
Maybe you're saying this hasn't worked or it just isn't applicable, but have you tried long pressing the audio input icon, or whatever is there?
That was it
The long press worked. Thanks. Guess I was having a senior moment.

I posted this in the other Auto Correct thread (found here). That thread got so long that it was requested that I start a new thread with this info so it is easier to find this fix and how to do it.
I have a FUZE and mainly ONLY use the actual physical keyboard and not the onscreen keyboard. The fact you can not set up normal Auto Word Correction words was driving me crazy. So through a lot of people a fix was found. Credit goes to a lot of people who suggested different things (like Bugsykoosh), and then I put a few different programs/tweaks together and it works very well.
Here is how you do it.
1) Disabled T9 completely by installing the cab found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2914474&postcount=8 . After installing the T9 button will no longer work.
2) Change your onscreen keyboard to "keyboard" as the default. You will no longer be able to use the QWERTY keyboard, but that was fine for me since I mainly use the actual keyboard. For this to work you MUST switch your on screen default keyboard to "keyboard" or install the Happy Tapping keyboard.
3) Install DictMgr for Windows Mobile that can be found at http://mobile-sg.com/software/?p=DictMgr&platform=ppc . It is FREE. This program is the key to making this work.
4) Only parts of DictMgr works with our version of Windows Mobile. After installing open up the program and launch the Word Corrector part of the program. It looks exactly like the traditional word replacement entry screen you see on your PC. SEE ATTACHED PICTURE.
5) Add the words you want to auto correct and hit save. It requires a soft reboot.
10) After the reset try to type something using the actual keyboard and you will see the word correct work the way it is supposed to.
I am VERY positive right now about this working so far.
Some other Feedback/Notes:
1) I use MyMobiler so when connected to my PC I can view my phone screen on my desktop. This makes entering all the auto correct words I want MUCH easier since I can use my normal keyboard.
2) I entered as MANY as I could at one time because a soft reset is required each time you save the file.
3) I have started entering all the basic ones like
i --> I
monday --> Monday
mon --> Monday
tuesday --> Tuesday
tues ---> Tuesday
(and all the rest of the days)
jan --> January
feb --> February
(and all the rest of the months)
4) on the onscreen keyboard I did go to the Touch Input Setting and check all options. See attached image.
5) I also went to the Options-->Word Completion Tab and checked "Enable Auto Correct. See attached image.
Everyone, this SEEMS to be a real EASY fix for this issue I am happy to report.
There is a solution to still use the Full QWERTY Keyboard. The complete text is located here: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1527
After disabling T9 you must toggle the T9-ABC button back on. To do it press the button then hit the ABC123 button and keep going until it stick. If that fails go into landscape mode and try toggling. Once you get it to change it will stay that way. The one downside is it only works for odd numbers so it works on the first, third and fifth letter you enter and on the second letter no autocompletion appears on screen. The autocorrection (ex spell check) still occurs either way that.
Thanks TVDinner -that was fun
sweet! This issue now has 2 solutions. I love when a plan comes together!!!
So with this fix can I still use the physical keyboard/Full QWERTY soft keyboard/Phone Keypad like normal?

Hi NeroDan;
With bugsykoosh's fix you can still use the on screen Qwerty keyboard.
With my fix you have to choose the onscreen "keyboard" option, or install the happy tapping onscreen keyboard. You can not use the qwerty keyboard with the fix I described.
If you do not use the onscreen keyboard then either fix will work fine.
Hi there just wondering if anyone had/has this problem and knows how to fix it.
Basically when i go to reply to a text message by tapping on it (from inside TouchFlo) the keyboard (and message box) appears, then disappears
When i click on the box to type, the keyboard comes up, then jumps back down. I have to press the 'Keyboard' button when the keyboard is down (to bring it up) then type somthing (which doesn't appear) and then press space...to even start typing anything.
It's really odd, i've tried re-flashing both stock and a few other ROM's...same wierd problem...anyone?
THANKS!
Is this the stock keyboard or a third party one? Could be a compatability issue...
All the stock stuff. I've tried it with 'Phone Keypad', ' Full & Compact QWERTY' and it's te same problem...
I have the same problem.... help
Hi everyone, i have some problems messaging with SMS stock app.
Often, when write something, if I click on the option button (for accessing smiles), the conversation go back to the first message, and the stock keyboard crash (only in landscape mode).
Additionally, when I press backspace, it came up with 'delete by selection' function...
Try Hard Reset, but without results...
It's by the way... a bug?
Or it's my Device?
Thanks a lot.
p.s. sorry for my bad english
i can't reproduce it on my device.
what do you mean by option button? it's on keyboard or you mean HW menu button?
yup, it's the HW button (to the left of home button).
This issues appear usually after I unlock the screen or after other operation.
Example:
Device screend locked -----> unlock -----> answer message ---> issues in landscape mode.
Example 2:
Playing with some game------->answer message (or write new one)---->issues in landscape
Not noticed any issues and had the phone for over a month but I don't use the phone in landscape mode ever so must be a landscape problem.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
is it software-related o HW-related?
What do you think?

and does it happen right after pressing menu key? or after selecting smiley to insert?
when i press menu key, keyboard is closed right away and menu is opened.
when pressing the button or when pressing the 'hide qwerty' button...
Not every time... like..
5 times over 10 tries.
I have just tried this and the first time I started a reply and typed some words then presses the option button then more then smileys I pressed back and the kb had gone and it took me to the first msg in my conversation. Have tried it several times since but could not replicate it.
I don't use the stock sms app, I use handcent sms and have no issues
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
you hit the spot, is that problem!
Is it a bug? Hope that it will fix soon...
Handcent is good like stock app?
does changing another ruu help?
I have this problem! I find if I press backspace too many times while in landscape mode, say after I mess up a word typing that it won't autocorrect, it takes me to this delete message menu. Going to install a better messaging app.
RUU= Rom Upgrade Utility?
@ridley1000
The same problem here, then i believe that is a problem with gingerbread+stock sms app.
Hi!
So I've got this problem on my tab where I can't boot but I get to a screen that says in Chinese that I need to do a factory reset to reset to default settings, which probably will make my tablet work.
However, I noticed I'm able to use mouse/keyboard on this screen.
So I'm wondering if there's any psychical keyboard shortcut to enter Settings on Android 4.0.2 / ICS?
If I may enter Settings I may turn on USB-debugging and save my tablet, otherwise I can't use it.
I'm able to bring the on-screen keyboard up by pressing "ESC" on my psyhical keyboard, and from there I can get into the keyboard settings. But I'd like to get into the settings of the OS if this is possible?
I can't enter recovery mode because of the tablet getting stuck at the logo.
So any useful shortcut I may use?
Thanks in advance
Anyone have an issue where the Samsung keyboard will stop responding to SwiftFlow, also known as "swiping"?
For example, sometimes when I want to input text, the Samsung keyboard appears, but instead of being able to swipe through letters, It will only detect "tapping" or the first letter I touch.
The simple fix is to hit the "back" button on the phone which will close the keyboard, then bring the keyboard back and SwiftFlow/Swyping will work again. The problem is I seem to be running into this a few times a day during heavy use, so it's obviously annoying when it happens.
