Word Correction / Auto Correct Fix - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I posted this in the other Auto Correct thread (found here). That thread got so long that it was requested that I start a new thread with this info so it is easier to find this fix and how to do it.
I have a FUZE and mainly ONLY use the actual physical keyboard and not the onscreen keyboard. The fact you can not set up normal Auto Word Correction words was driving me crazy. So through a lot of people a fix was found. Credit goes to a lot of people who suggested different things (like Bugsykoosh), and then I put a few different programs/tweaks together and it works very well.
Here is how you do it.
1) Disabled T9 completely by installing the cab found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2914474&postcount=8 . After installing the T9 button will no longer work.
2) Change your onscreen keyboard to "keyboard" as the default. You will no longer be able to use the QWERTY keyboard, but that was fine for me since I mainly use the actual keyboard. For this to work you MUST switch your on screen default keyboard to "keyboard" or install the Happy Tapping keyboard.
3) Install DictMgr for Windows Mobile that can be found at http://mobile-sg.com/software/?p=DictMgr&platform=ppc . It is FREE. This program is the key to making this work.
4) Only parts of DictMgr works with our version of Windows Mobile. After installing open up the program and launch the Word Corrector part of the program. It looks exactly like the traditional word replacement entry screen you see on your PC. SEE ATTACHED PICTURE.
5) Add the words you want to auto correct and hit save. It requires a soft reboot.
10) After the reset try to type something using the actual keyboard and you will see the word correct work the way it is supposed to.
I am VERY positive right now about this working so far.
Some other Feedback/Notes:
1) I use MyMobiler so when connected to my PC I can view my phone screen on my desktop. This makes entering all the auto correct words I want MUCH easier since I can use my normal keyboard.
2) I entered as MANY as I could at one time because a soft reset is required each time you save the file.
3) I have started entering all the basic ones like
i --> I
monday --> Monday
mon --> Monday
tuesday --> Tuesday
tues ---> Tuesday
(and all the rest of the days)
jan --> January
feb --> February
(and all the rest of the months)
4) on the onscreen keyboard I did go to the Touch Input Setting and check all options. See attached image.
5) I also went to the Options-->Word Completion Tab and checked "Enable Auto Correct. See attached image.
Everyone, this SEEMS to be a real EASY fix for this issue I am happy to report.

There is a solution to still use the Full QWERTY Keyboard. The complete text is located here: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1527
After disabling T9 you must toggle the T9-ABC button back on. To do it press the button then hit the ABC123 button and keep going until it stick. If that fails go into landscape mode and try toggling. Once you get it to change it will stay that way. The one downside is it only works for odd numbers so it works on the first, third and fifth letter you enter and on the second letter no autocompletion appears on screen. The autocorrection (ex spell check) still occurs either way that.
Thanks TVDinner -that was fun

sweet! This issue now has 2 solutions. I love when a plan comes together!!!

So with this fix can I still use the physical keyboard/Full QWERTY soft keyboard/Phone Keypad like normal?

Hi NeroDan;
With bugsykoosh's fix you can still use the on screen Qwerty keyboard.
With my fix you have to choose the onscreen "keyboard" option, or install the happy tapping onscreen keyboard. You can not use the qwerty keyboard with the fix I described.
If you do not use the onscreen keyboard then either fix will work fine.

How do I disable the keyboard???

Hi there,
here's a question relating to the soft-keyboard:
I noticed that with some applications (e.g. PHM reg editor) when I want to punch in a value and hit the corresponding field the keyboard will pop up (which is perfect so far). Now, the keyboard sometimes hides the OK button which I'd have to hit to accept the changes but somehow I can't convince the keyboard to go back where it came from - there's no button to disable or change it (like the "12" button you sometimes see in the bottom).
What can I do to get rid of the keyboard in such situations? Is there maybe a hardware button??
Thanks a lot
There's an icon between the soft keys on the bottom of the screen that changes according to the desired input method. Touch that and a keyboard will magically disappear, regardless of the selected input method.
The input method icon, is always displayed when there's a possibility for text input.
ps.: RTM

Read the manual and like I said:
There's NO icon displayed at the bottom of the screen!
Then use another program, that's the best workaround that i can come up whith..
Or there's the possibilty of a greater underlying problem that would need a Hard Reset to fix it... so far you're the first whith this problem...
Indeed, I've had this too before, try using WM6 compatbile software, I though that was my problem a few weeks ago. An example is Mozilla Minimo, which is horrible on WM6, not being able to remove the keyboard, or even better, hiding it, but not refreshing the contents behind the keyboard

Exactly, Minimo is another one of those applications that show this problem.
How about changing your default kb to something else?
There is a reg hack to disable the SIP from displaying when you put focus on any text field, but that is not a good solution for a device that doesn't have a physical kb. I use it on my Treo 750 since I don't need the SIP. However, on the TC, it would make much sense.
On a bit of a side note, I have heard that if TC owners want to use another kb besides the standard Xt9 version, you need to apply the following to disable it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\compime.dll
Layout Text=COMP IME
To Turn on again
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\eT9Ime.dll
Layout Text=eT9 IME
Did your registry tweaks will stop pop up of any keyboard when accessing a text area?
That's what I 'm looking for. Because I installed a full screen keyboard and I use it with a button.
Thxs.
up!!!
Pleaaaaase'!
This app will keep the keyboard from poping up automatically. You can still open it manually. I've not tried it with WM6.

Thanks a lot!
It works!
what full screen keyboard are you using?
I use SPB full keyboard.

Opera shows onscreen keyboard in landscape mode

Hey everyone,
If I have Opera open on my HTC Touch Pro with the hardware keyboard slid out, it still shows the onscreen keyboard (and it's annoying having to keep closing it all the time). Any idea how to fix this?
I too would like to know the solution for this. I have a feeling that this is kind of a feature from Opera and can't be disabled but it's very annoying for users with hardware keyboard.
I have this issue on my kaiser too

Actually, it's not Opera. It's Raphael itself. HTC should have made it in such a way that if the keyboard is out, the SIP should not be displayed.
To prove that it is not Opera, try creating a new SMS. Do this in portrait mode first. Try hiding the SIP and change field (To or Message). You'll see that the SIP is displayed every time you change field. Now slide out the keyboard. Try changing field and you'll see that the SIP is also displayed.
As far as I understand (from another post somwhere on the forum) it's not technically a bug...
It's a requirement of Windows mobile that the SIP is deployed whenever text is entered into a field. Seems rather daft when you have a hardware keyboard on your phone though...
I've had that registry tweak above work for me, the same tweak is implemented in Advanced Config 3.3 as well. There's another fix that *should* work throughout Windows Mobile, for text fields.
It's called nullkb, and installs an option into the SIP menu that gives you a null keyboard option, and any attempt to bring up the SIP brings up nothing. I installed it, and it appeared to work, but after a reset, it defaulted back to the normal keybaord, so you have to select the null keyboard everytime you reset the device.
I'd love to find a way to simply disable auto deployment of the SIP in ALL circumstances. NullKB forces you to go into the SIP menu and select another keyboard should you want to use symbols, for example. The registry fix only seems to (sometimes) work for opera.
I just want the SIP to stay hidden until I want it, and a single click on the keyboard icon should bring the selected keyboard up.
I have no idea how to go around getting this working, I'm more of an end user than a developer...
e: there's also this reg key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange=1
Change that to 0 and it disables the SIP entirely. I'm thinking this fix and judicious use of PQzII (once I figure out how the hell to set it up...) to set up hardware keys for lots of symbols (where the hell is "\" on the keyboard? On a WM phone I would've thought a \ key would be mandatory...) might be the way forward, though it's a fair amount of work to get everything set up.

That doesn't work, at least not on my CDMA Touch Pro.

Doesn't work on my CDMA Touch Pro That regedit makes the keyboard appear on screen all the time, with no way to minimize it.
it is a bug in opera...
it is well documented as one
you can see if you disable autodeploy of keybaord (use advanced config) and youll see it still appears in opera. the only work around is to download nullkb and select it as your input while using opera
I had the problem with nullkb that it wouldn't stay as the default SIP after a soft reset. Loading PQzII and setting a link to PQzII in the startup folder fixed this, as within PQzII you can select which SIP should be displayed in portrait *and* landscape individually.
This still means a couple of clicks to get a keyboard up in landscape for entering symbols, but if in portrait the SIP will display normally.
I still can't get the "\" to work properly through PQzII though... it displays odd characters whenever I enter it into any of the PQzII configuration options. I suspect \ is used extensively in the code or something, and this messes up what's going on inside PQzII.

Word Completion Fix

Found this cause I was having same problem...passing it along
To fix the Word Completion function on my Sprint HTC Touch Pro. It turns out the problem has to do with the installation of the new Full QWERTY keyboard that came with the ROM upgrade. My Word Completion was not working in Block Recognizer, the original Keyboard or the Letter Recognizer UNTIL I did this simple fix.. Here is how to do it:
* After confirming that you have the box checked for "Suggest words when entering text" in the Word Completion tab found in Settings>Input.
* Open up a new email or text message.
* Go to the bottom of the screen and change your letter input method to Full QWERTY (using the down arrow next to the "pencil", "keyboard" , etc. icon).
* In the bottom left hand corner of this Full QWERTY keyboard, just to the right of CAPS/shift button, is a button to toggle between T9 and ABC.
* Click the button and make sure that T9 appears below ABC. Apparently the opposite appears as a default setting.
* Switch back to Block Recognizer, Keyboard or Letter Recognizer and Word Completion should be active for you!
when using the keyboard this is not working . . .
Doesn't work for me either
I can't even get T9 to work with the full QWERTY keyboard...
If you install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2914474&postcount=8
Then you can get the old fashion word completion back on your Touch pro BUT it only works for the regular keyboards (not the new Touch Pro or Compact QWERTY Keyboard) Happy tappy would work with this. You need yo soft reset after installing this.
It will put you back on the old format with the old dictionary and auto complete and auto correct...but no more pretty keyboard...
What about auto complete with the harware keyboard
Still doesn't work with the hardware keyboard, any ideas?
Found the fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425405
Word Completion
Same problem here, not getting word completion when typing, even though I have it turned on. I would like a fix for this.
Does anyone have word completion working?
James
word completion
was anyone able to find a fix? i have the fuze and my word completion is turned on but not working.
It does work for the physical keyboard but you still need the onscreen keyboard set to either Happy Tapping or the standard windows keyboard. it cannot be set to Full QWERTY. Also, a soft reset is required since the dictionaries go into the ROM on resets...
Whats goin on
Whats going on man!!!
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this stupid problem
I have word completion working on inputs all except the full qwerty and compact.
It works when you backspace after a few letters???
Please help someone
I seem to have an opposite problem with word completion. When I type in an email or sms, the word suggestion forces me to use its word. The change gets made automatically. Usually the word replaced is not what I wanted. I have tried unchecking the word suggestion/correction and made similar choices in Advanced Config. How can I stop this forced word replacement? Is there a registry hack that would stop this for good?
it is not working , any solutions

Touch Pro onscreen keyboard landcape with slider closed?

Sometimes I like using the virtual keyboard instead of the hardware keyboard but would prefer to use it in landscape mode. Is it possible to have the virtual keyboard up in landscape mode without having to open the slider? I tried GSen but that didn't work and reading about Gyrator it seems causes more problems than it cures.
Basically I would like to start a new text message (or e-mail) turn the phone and have it switch to landscape.
Second, does the hardware keyboard have a 'punch through'? On my old T-Mobile Dash (WM 6.1) I could hold down a button and have the symbol pop up on screen instead of the letter - saves me from having to hit the "function" key. This works on the TP in virtual mode but not with the hardware keyboard, can this be enabled? Right now holding down the button merely makes the letter repeat like on a laptop.

I personally use Gyrator2, I do exactly what you are wanting to do. If you set it up correctly it really is a usefull app.
Second question, No clue.
gyrator 2 works great once you tell it what programs not to work in
it does exactly what you want in texts
You can also "move" your keyboard around the screen with this hack:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\SIP and change the value of Dragstyle from 0 to 1, followed by a soft reset.
You can grab it and move it anywhere on the screen you like after.

i saw that hack but is it in anyway useful ? or just amusing
Thanks for the replies. I just installed Gyrator2 and it does indeed do what I'm asking for! I think I need to get a little deeper into it though as it does some things I wasn't expecting (switch the calling screen to landscape after taking a call etc.) but so far, so good!

CM 11 on Note Pro - Almost Perfect

First, just want to say thanks for the development on the Note Pro. CM on this thing is awesome. That said, I still have a couple of lingering issues, hoping someone may have found some work arounds/solutions. Inevitably there will be someone that will reply with "USE THE SEARCH!". For those that do, I will offer you my sincere admiration. Your search foo is only exceeded by your wit. For those that are still willing to read on and assist, know that I've come up empty in my search attempts. Believe me, I'd rather have found a simple search result than to have typed all this up... In any case:
1. Hardware keys and navbar -
CM has a setting for "Enable on-screen navigation bar and disable hardware buttons". Checking this box enables the navbar, but fails to actually disable the capacitive and physical buttons. This causes me some grief when using the tablet in portrait mode. I've tried hacking around in the build.prop and the Generic.kl files, but haven't found that magical combination of new lines/commented out lines. Maybe CM does this differently than other roms? (I've not observed a difference in these files when toggling back and forth in the settings, so there must be something else I'm missing.) Any pointers?
2. Key Mapping -
I have the Logitech Pro Keyboard Case. Seems to work well, for the most part. (I'm typing on it now...) However, not all of the keys work. Example - there are keys on the top left row for "back", "menu" and "task switching". Nothing appears to happen when pressing these now. Again, probably something in a .kl file somewhere, but I'm coming up empty. There doesn't appear to be a Vendor-Specific.kl file, but Generic.kl doesn't seem to cut it either.
3. On-Screen keyboard still displays when using bluetooth keyboard.
Well, that about says it all really. I've tried using both the Google keybard, and SwiftKey. Both continue to show up on-screen, even though I'm typing on the bluetooth keyboard. Swiftkey even tells me that it cannot detect a physcial keyboard. Probably related to the key mapping issue from above, but...
Again, thanks for all the work on this. Having CM saved my tablet from it's date with eBay.
Thanks!
- Bri
1. i thought about it but now i haven't spare time to implement. next week maybe.. but i dont promise
2. and 3. try this programm https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apedroid.hwkeyboardhelper

Thanks! I'll give the app a shot. I'm concerned that it seems to replace any other keyboard though. I'd like to find a way to keep SwiftKey's corrections/prediction functionality. Nevertheless, I'll give it a go.

Hey, try going with Null Keyboard, enable all your keyboards, and switch between them depending on whether the device is connected or not
