I rooted my phone back on ICS and when I updated to Jelly Bean, I used root keeper and restored the root. Voodoo rootkeeper says that I my device is rooted. My titanium backup shows that I have root and the program works perfectly Lightlow has root and works perfectly. The problem is that I can not grant root permissions to other applications. Superuser is installed, but shows outdated binaries.. I tried to update them but it says no root. Rootchecker also says that I do not have root. What I dont get is that the programs I already granted root access still work but I cant add more. Any ideas on what is going on? Thanks!

I rooted my Motorola Charm with superoneclick 1.7, or atleast I thought I did. superoneclick 1.7 did say the rooting was succesful and I have superuser installed.
But when using Link2SD it says I didn't have root access. So I checked with Root Checker and apparantly Link2SD is correct. This is what Root Checker has to say:
Root Access is not properly configured or was not granted.
Alternate su binary location:
/sbin/suermission denied
SU binary not found in the system delcared PATH
Does anyone know what could be the issue? And if not, then would anyone know what is the safest way to proceed from here? I already have superuser and superoneclick says it is Rooted, I'm not sure what would happen if I were to root it again.
I had the same problem with my Milestone, rooted it using AndRoot. I used Superuser to update the su binaries, but still nothing. Then a simple reboot fixed it
My Milestone2 rooted successfully by SuperOneClick 1.3 ,
you can use the 1.3 version to root

Hi, I just root my phoneabout a couple minutes ago. I have the superuser icons ib my All Apps screen. However when I open the superuser, there's not any apps on there. Is this normal? Am I rooted?

There aren't any apps listed in there because you probably haven't given or denied root access for any programs yet. Install any app that needs root, run it, it should ask for root access. When you give or deny it, it will show up in the superuser list.

titanium backup
I have rooted my htc wildfire s (HBOOT-1.09.009). installed superuser. but when titanium backup is installed its showing root access denied.
can anyone help?

You will probably need to root your device again. If titanium backup cannot access root then your not rooted. Just to be safe, GO to goolge play and download a root checker. Run the root checker, it will verify root or not.
Otherwise, use HTCsupertool to root your device.
Superuser permissions
There aren't any apps listed in in super user. When I try to install any app that needs root, it super user not asking for root access.
Please help.

Did you try any other super app. Remove the one you have and try another.
Please excuse me if this has been covered elsewhere but I have done a search and can't find anything that applies to my Transformer or the problem I have.
I used Razorclaw to root my Transformer when it was on Honeycomb, and Voodoo OTA rootkeeper to retain it when I upgraded to a later version of HC. And then again when the first ICS update came out. However when the .17 OTA came out, in my haste to try and fix the problems that came with the first ICS update, I hit 'install' without thinking. I should have made sure voodoo had a fresh backup and temporarily unrooted the TF (as I had done on previous updates).
So after the update I checked with both Titanium Backup and Voodoo which indicated I did not have root. I selected the 'restore root' option in Voodoo and it then indicated I had regained root access.
So now the three apps that I had granted root access prior to the upgrade (Titanium Backup, ES File Explorer and Voodoo) still have root access, but whenever I try a new app that requires root it says I don't have root. And checking in Superuser the 3 apps above are listed as allowed, but no other requests are even logged.
So my question is how can I have some apps that require root working, yet new requests are denied? And is there a simple way to fix it? I don't want to uninstall Superuser in case that loses me root completely (and permanently) and when I try to update Superuser it fails to gain su and stops.
Edit:TF is running Stock firmware, just rooted.
Look to see if you SU in system/xbin if not look in system/bin and copy SU from there to system/xbin

This did not fix it I'm afraid, but thank you for your suggestion. It's almost like Superuser is frozen and won't allow anything else root access. I see there is a 'Superuser Update Fixer' App on the Market (oops I mean Google Play Store) but I'm not sure if that will solve the problem I have as it seems to require root access to work...

Try running ViperMod (option 1) again to get full root.

I don't think you have root. I had same thing happen, literally almost exactly and its because I did not have proper root. Use vipermod to get root back and you'll see everything will work like normal

Thank you both baseballfanz and eminembdg (I pushed the thanks button) Vipermod Option 1 did the trick. I now have full root access restored. The biggest problem I had was I couldn't find any Win7-64 ADB drivers so had to go and pull the old Win7-32 laptop out to get everything to work properly.
Still can't see why I had partial root permissions though. I thought it was all or nothing. Kind of like being a bit pregnant.
I have searched and not found this specific issue.
I believe my issue may be associated with BusyBox but wanted to confirm before I go through the entire process again...
1. Was at JB 4.1.1. downgraded to ICS, rooted and went back to JB.
2. Root lost. I assume due to forgetting to establish a root keeper.
3. Moved back to ICS, rooted, established root keeper (Voodoo RootKeeper). Moved back to JB.
4. Verified root with RootKeeper, Titanium Backup, Root Explorer SuperUser Elite 0and began reloading apps.
5. I installed BusyBox.
6. BusyBox now reports that the device is rooted.
7. However RootKeeper, Titanium Backup and Root Explorer all report that it is not.
Q #1 - My guess is that BusyBox overwrote something. Is that reasonable? Or is it something else?
Q #2 - Could it have anything to do with SuperUser Elite which I am also using? Is there any compatibility issues?
Q #3 - Although I'm getting fairly good at the process, once I go through the process and verify root under JB are there apps I should not reload?

I recommend the real root test - can you get a root shell, e.g. via adb or a local terminal emulator?
Here is how to root the new BLU Life One, there are probably many ways to do it but this was the best way that I could find.
Note that I tried to root with framaroot, towelroot, and iroot and their apps have failed.
Try this of your own free will, I am not responsible for anything happening to your device (it worked for me so it should work for you).
What you will need:
kingoroot, supersu, busybox, root checker, and titanium backup.
First things first,
Go into settings and check the box next to "Unknown sources".
Next open up the internet tab and search for Kingoroot (kingorootapp dot com)
Click the download button for android (not the windows one)
When it finishes downloading, click in the drop down menu and install the apk.
Open the kingo root app, and click root circle.
After the app is finished rooting your device, you can download Root checker in the play store to ensure that your device is indeed rooted.
Now, I personally don't like kingo root, so the next steps are optional.
In the play store download three apps, SuperSU ( i use chainfire), busybox, and titanium backup (i suggest buying the paid version, it is well worth the money).
Next open up SuperSU (KingoUser should ask to grant SuperSU root access, allow it), and install the SU binary. Do not reboot system.
Next open titanium backup, click the middle tab, then scroll down until you see SuperSU. Long press, and then press install to system apps. (you can do this manually by using ES file explorer and copying the SuperSU.apk file [may need to download it from the internet] in to the/system/app folder.
Now restart your device.
When the device boots back up, check and make sure that your device is still rooted by using root checker again.
If it is still rooted, open SuperSU and make sure you dont have to install the binarys again (you shouldnt have to).
Next uninstall the kingo root app (it will not let you uninstall the kingouser app, for this you must use titanium backup)
Now go into your system, applications and then disable kingouser app.
After doing so, check and see if your device is still rooted (it should be)

if someone here has a working blu life one 2015, could you do a rom dump. a bunch of us have soft bricked phones and can't get them working. Blu doesn't have the stock rom available
Hey thanks for this guide! I have one problem I'm hoping you could shed some light on. I've followed your steps and when I try to update the SU binaries it fails every time. The kingroot worked and the kingroot su asked if I wanted SuperSu to have root access and I selected yes. Each time it fails to update it suggest I reboot and try again, but I haven't yet.
