[Q] [Help] Skyrocket go down! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

hi everyone. I need some help here with my At&t Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. I had my phone unlocked and work on T-mobile GSM fine but I only got EDGE for data. I then flash it with with a T-mobile radio according to the instruction here at XDA forrum to try to get 3G/4G. after flashing the radio the baseband in the phone showed "unknown" and I lost both GSM and EDGE. the phone even didn't recognize my SIM card,I don't know If I did something wrong.
Here How I did
1. I flash CWM 5.8.x
2 I update to CWM 14.x.x touch version
3. Root the phone with SuperSU busy box
4. Flashing tmo_SGH-T989_VK1.zip radio
5. No signal.
It seem to be the radio I tried to flash didn't go in correctly. BTW I still keep the stock ROM form At&T (ICS 4.0.4)
Any one have experienced the same problem like me ?
Thank you very much for helping me out.

Just so I'm clear, you flashed a T-Mobile Only Radio on an A T&T Sim card? Check your APN too.

I flashed T-mobile radio on AT&T phone not SIM card. I lost my original AT&T Radio and new T-mobile radio didn't go in, now the phone doesn't read my T-mobile SIM card. I cannot access mobile network to check APNs without a valid SIM card since the phone doesn't see it.

the phone function was perfectly fine before I flash the radio. of course, no 3G/4G connection on T-mobile

the problem is after flashing custom radio, I have no radio at all. the phone is now a tablet

Did u make a backup? Did u try flashing a new radio? Try odin mabie and go back to stock and try again.

thank you for you suggestion.
I finally understand the problem the phone simply doesn't accept the radio. I flashed the new radio and turn out the original radio was removed and new one didn't go in. when i flashed a full stock ROM the original radio came back. may be the ROM and radio have to be compiled together.

Uh no you have to flash the modem before the ROM to get a good flash from what I've seen. Also I think almost every radio exempting maybe gingerbread radios as I haven't tested them should work on every ROM exempting maybe tw based.

The Rom or radio can be flashed in any sequence. The order they are flashed in has no effect.

Fixed that for you. You forgot to mention that you have to hold your breath while you wipe dalvik 3 times, cache 6 times, factory reset 2 times, perform a backup and then flash a kernel from a different device.

Sorry, I am bit confused...you did a full wipe, didn't flash a new rom and the old one is working?...have you tried swapping SIM Cards before? because not all sim cards are compatible with unlock Inspire....search the Ace Hack Kit thread, because someone came into that problem....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352
Hope it helps...
EDIT: Sorry I just saw the error message the phone is sending you...haven't you erased anything?...If the sim card is ATT it doesn't matter is the phone is rooted or not....but haven't you erased anything? try using this menu:
dial * # * # 4 6 3 6 # * # * and then go to bands pressing menu. Check if the bands there.

I had a ton of stuff on the phone she did not want, So I did a full wipe and flashed the HD revolution rom again and still no service. I understand that not all sims will work but even putting mine back in there is no service.
Can it be something wrong with the radio?

[Q] Need help with radio flashing

Hi, I tried to flash a few different radios, and then back to the original one and it seems like it isn't reading my sim card anymore... I'm not sure if I am flashing it correctly. I booted into the recovery mode and installed zip from internal and chose the radio zip file. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Well I got the radios I tried from threads in this forum, so I'm pretty sure they are all compatible... but do I install twrp the same way I did CWM?
if u r using the correct recoveries, clear caches, flashing the radio again , sometimes it doesnt take when doing it only once, even removing battery after flashing the radio might help

Okay, I got the recovery from your thread so I hope it's right thanks for that by the way got my phone rooted pretty fast. I tried installing the radio like 4 times in a row because I saw that you said that in another thread, but it still says that I don't have a SIM card in... I'll try removing the battery for a little and see if that helps..
thanks

I didn't think that it was relevant to my problem that I'm trying to get on T-Mobile... the main problem is that after flashing every radio my phone won't read my sim card and I found those threads but they didn't say how to actually do anything with the radios so I just tried the CWM way

unlock free proceed at your own risk!

Read all of the post and the one bellow it from cschmitt before you do anything. This also might be illegal in the USA if you bought your phone after 1/26/2013
The last few days it's been going around unlocking the note II and gs3 with some settings(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34661189). Well the good news is the method can be used on our phones! I don't know what modems work I know two that don't. I was able to use the T989 modem (Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip)to unlock my phone but others have reported UCLD2 (a skyrocket modem) works as well. after I unlocked I switched back to UCLI3 and the phone is still unlocked.
You'll need to be on a stock(or stock based) rom and you should make sure the number matches the text next to it. All you need to do is touch the row to select it. I did these steps with a O2 sim card in my phone. after the reboot your phone might take a second but it should connect to the network and be happy with your non att sim.
I have not tested this on a rogers phone. It might work it might make your phone explode in your hand and kill you. For all I know it could do the same for other ATT phones.

Confirmed, this method works to network unlock using stock UCLD2 rom and modems (the April 15th ICS 4.0.3 leak.) Links to the CWM-flashable stock ROM and modems can be found below. Unlock was performed on an AT&T locked SGH-I727 using a TMO SIM card.
This method is modem specific, as the service mode commands vary by modem. It does NOT work with UCLA3, UCLE2, or UCLF6 modems (NV initialize menu item is not present, or non-functional.)
Note: After 'Press [4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALLIZ' step the phone reports ' PERSO_NV_INIT is SUCCESSFUL', then it's safe to reboot.
Confirmed that IMEI is intact following network unlock, and that unlock persists following a ROM/modem flash (back to CM-10.0.0 and UCFL6 modems.)
Awesome find, my friend!

kool, i added this thread to the sticky, even though its cheap to buy an unlock code for rogers(i paid under $8 from ebay), for att users its more expensive
Hi, I'm stock ICS on ATT, if I just flash the new modem will that make any difference on my ATT service? Like not get HSPA+ service. I am currently out of the country so I can't test it with my ATT sim. (had my phone line suspended)
Also using a SIM from the Philippines... Will the type of SIM card make any difference?

First, a stock (or stock-based) ROM must be installed. Specifically, one that includes Samsung's serviceModeApp.apk in /system/app. This is required to support the *#197328640# dialer code that brings up the modem's service menu. ROM's such as CM9/CM10/AOKP/AOSP won't work for this because they don't have the service mode interface.
Second, a modem that supports the '[4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALIZE' command is required. The service mode menu items that are displayed and available are a function of the modem, not the ROM-- so only specific modems can be used to unlock with this method. So far it's confirmed that T-Mobile's UVLE1 and AT&T's UCLD2 have what it takes.
Just perform a nandroid backup of the current setup, flash an appropriate ROM and modem, factory reset, reboot, perform the network unlock, reboot, verify it's success with a non-accepted SIM, then restore the nandroid backup and re-flash the previous modem.

If you look at the OP he used ANOTHER sim card when doing all this. I think if you have an AT&T SIM in it doesn't work. I'm guessing that's it as I had an AT&T SIM in while I was doing it and it didn't work. Try a T-Mobile or other GSM sim and see what happens. I'll be doing that later.
Update: Apparently you do NOT need to have another SIM card in when you do this, as I was working on unlocking the phone with a T-Mobile card in and before I finished (I mean like I was on step 2) I got a T-mobile signal and was able to browse the web. Best advice I can give is when you reboot, make sure you wait for a good minute to see if the phone was unlocked, as you won't get a signal immediately even if it works.
WORKS ON ROGERS i727r

[Q] IMEI and Baseband unknown, doesn't recognize any sim card SGS4G

Hello guys, couple days ago I bought a SGS4G, the T-Mobile one, not sure if there's another versino anyways the model is SGH-T959V.
When i turned on the phone everything was alright, but it wasn't recognizing my sim card, so i thought it wasn't unlocked, but that wasn't the problem.
I checked the settings and the phone info and i saw baseband unknown, imei unknown, everything! so i did a factory reset, flashed to stock, got 2.3.6 rom on it. Nothing worked only thing that appears now is the MAC address, can someone please help me!? I'm really desperate and I need to use that phone, really need to use it!

hi. don't sure how i fix this everytime i had this issue but a few days ago i encountered it again. took me some hours, done flashing to stock to restoring and so forth but still it was no good, still no signal because of unknown imei and baseband. then i re-read some things about this issue. finally it lighted up my mind and solved this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480418 - The Definitive Noobs Guide to Flashing and/or Fixing the SGS4G! POST QUESTIONS HERE! by Juls317 said that Modem ([Mo]dulator [Dem]odulator) -> helps your phone interpret wireless signals sent from your cell network and wireless routers and also send data back to them (flashing different modems can help improve your cell reception) (thanks FB) . once i re-read this , i assumed that this is what i need to bring back my lost imei. (credits to him)
tried flashing a modem of galaxy s 4g and boom! the signal, imei and baseband of my phone came back.
so here's what I did:
I flashed a stock rom of galaxy s 4g. froyo or gb, doesn't matter which two. (via odin) check the pda then reboot
next, I flashed again via odin a bootloader with cwm. (check the bootloader and let it reboot)
then, flashed again via odin a modem of galaxy s 4g (i used kj6 cause i remember mine is kj6) check the phone then reboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192436 - here's the link of modems by fbis251 (credits to him also)
the reason i flashed a bootloader with cwm is that i have a zip of sgs4g rom in my sd card which i'm using currently.
then i reboot into cwm and flashed my saved rom in sd card via install zip from sd card.
after that, i restored my backup in cwm and there my phone is, still good as my last backup.
i'm not familiar with using the adb terminal emulator so i don't know about those things they said about the efs folder in renaming the .bin files to recover the imei. sorry for not giving the whole step-by-step flashing things but i'm sure you'll understand some things i said especially those who uses Odin. hope this helps!good luck!

[Q] 4G/LTE band missing

I was experimenting my M8 with T-Mobile sim card. I flashed 5.0.1 GPE ROM and everything worked fine. I also changed its CID to T-MOB010 and flashed ViperOneM8 3.2.1. It worked fine as well. But after I reverted everything back (by loading 3.28.605.4 0P6BIMG and firmware, and restoring a TWRP backup), I discovered I can no longer get 4G/LTE signal. I can only get 3G. I tried flashing to RUU M8_VZW 4.4.3 (firmware &0P6BIMG). But it doesn't help. I dialed *#*#4636#*#* but didn't see any option/menu. When I use 4G Switcher app to select band, 1900MHz band isn't available. The network type is set to "CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto". I am using CleanROM 3.0. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Try a factory reset using stock recovery. Not twrp or any custom recovery. Has to be stock recovery.

I understand completely where you are coming from. I flashed the same rom and my phone stop connecting to LTE when in global mode. I have flashed the 4.4.2, 4.4.3, and 4.4.4 RUU and went into the stock recovery and did a factory reset and it still does not work.
Right now I am running cleanrom 3.0 also. The only time I can get LTE is when I go into settings and switch it to LTE only.
The only thing I think it can be is when I do the factory reset on the RUU, the says restoring Verizon NV flash rather than formatting it. I want to try and flash a T-MOBILE RUU to see if it will format it and clear it out then switch back to Verizon but I don't know if that will brick my phone. If I can't find a way to wipe the NV the only thing else to do is run the phone over with my car a couple times then claim warranty.
Not trying to knock digital high's rom because he and several others put a lot of work into the stock 5.0 rom and I really appreciate the effort, but I wish I didn't flash it because I think there is an underlying issue with the rom that is affecting a small portion of our phones. And it is so small that there is no support to fix it. I have scoured the forum to find a fix and nothing has worked so far. But these are the problems we accept when we hack our phones and flash non factory software.
I hope you find a fix and if you do please let me know. Good luck.

Factory reset using stock recovery does the trick. 4G/LTE is back. Thanks a lot for the suggestion. Much appreciate it.

It should work.

I'm having the LTE issue as well. I'm currently running DigtalHigh's GPE 12/18 release with the updated firmware. LTE works on first boot until I connect to my Wi-Fi network, after that I never see LTE again. I tried everything, and I mean everything. I tried the RUU back to 4.4.4 and doing a factory reset from that... I get the same result, LTE on 1st boot until the WiFi connects and then it's gone for good again until the next complete reset.
The most recent thing I tried was replacing the SIM card (while on the GPE rom)... this worked flawlessly. I had LTE again for a few days... until I made a phone call from my car using Bluetooth, at which point the phone geeked out, switching from speaker to line-out to bluetooth audio and eventually dropping my call (not sure if that is somehow related to the LTE issue), but now I'm back to no LTE again.
But I get full bars of 3G, so I've got that going for me... which is nice.
Is it possible for you to put in a new SIM while on another Rom like clean rom to see if LTE will stay?

DH GPE with custom firmware has hooped the VZW LTE radio settings, it has overwritten them...no amount of custom rom re-installations will fix this.
As stated above, the easiest way to fix this is to simply flash a stock Verizon RUU, and THEN do a factory reset from the stock recovery. I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ent/ruu-m8vzw-4-4-4-s-off-onlynewest-t2914914 with the SD card method and it worked fine.
After you do the stock factory reset you can then install DH GPE again, without using custom firmware.

I tried installing the stock ruu and using the stock recovery to fix it. It hasn't worked. Did you use the method of installing through the phone or the computer?

I put 0P6BIMG.zip in ext SD card and booted from HBOOT.
My LTE just automagically kicked back on after I reset it three weeks. Glad it doesn't have to meet the tire of my car. I pray it stays on

I posed this question on another thread, but I'm trying to understand what you mean when you say "stock recovery". I know what it is, but what I don't know is what stock are you referring to; do I have to downgrade to 4.4.4 or when you mean stock it doesn't matter if it's Lollipop 5.0.1.? Thank you sir!

I mean the matching HTC provided recovery img for the firmware version you are on.

Boy this horse is getting beat to death. Go to Dottat's RUU posts where he explains it all. I used the 5.0.1 S-Off one. Once it's installed, boot, and then reboot to it's stock/factory recovery and do a factory reset. That will fix your 4G/LTE problem. Then you get root back and flash a "custom" recovery like TWRP. I followed the Sunshine instructions. If you don't want/need root or TWRP skip it and you'll have an S-off stock not rooted phone.

It's been a few years since I wore my horse, the HD2 to death and I didn't stumble on to the cure until the wee hours this morning. It eventually comes back and like the wife hitting your head with the iron skillet...ding, ding, ding....external micros SD card and RUU; I remember how to do that. I'm S-Off, this will work. What I didn't know is what is "stock"; factory state you walked out the store with or matching the ROM to the firmware and if I'm going to downgrade to reset the NV configuration, what all that entails. It's the jargon, I need to learn and that takes time. I sincerely appreciate what the OPs do and where they direct me to; thanks!

Answered this once already in the last 24 hours and this will be the last time.
Stock recovery is the matching HTC provided recovery img that is from the matching firmware version you are currently on. If you are on 1.X firmware it's best to find stock recovery from the 1.X ruu or firmware zip file.
Stock recovery is only provided by HTC.
Why is this so dang difficult to understand folks and why does the question need to be repeatedly posed?

Well, not all brains are wired the same. I do understand providing a direct link again or now would be like defeating the purpose. Although sometimes some words in some directions or answers are misleading to One and very confusing.

Point is the information is already out there. Nothing misleading about it.
There are some basic premises that better be understood first lest he avoid failure by leaving that boot loader locked and s on.
Capiche?

Because, those of us doing the asking while we truly and sincerely appreciate the work all of you do, and believe me "I" do, some of you, not all of you completely fail at the teaching aspect of the knowledge you possess. That said, thank you very much; it worked. I can't tell you whether it was the factory reset or performing the edit inside ##778; the moment I put the wife's Straight Talk (Verizon) SIM card in; 4G LTE returned. I did not have access to the dial code until now. Again, thank you!
