i have done it, and it worked for me but my samsung wave was unlocked, so there you go, but then unlocking it was only 15$ for me, so you have to decide do you wanna pay 15 $ for bada 2.0? and other thing if you have mobile data, somehow the apps on venezuela bada 2.0 doesn't pick up mobile data, and bell was unable to help, i was able to tether other devices with that firmware but not use the internet on the samsung wave itself. wifi works though, the firmware is pretty stable, correction very stable,, i even put different themes only available for bada 2.0 and some apps everything works fine, but the only thing is you can't use mobile data itself on samsung wave after getting bada 2.0, you can use wifi for all the internet needs on the phone, anyways, if you are planning to use this phone you are not paying for data plan to bell, if you are ready to pay for data plan to bell, you can get free phone with android on it, like ACE IIx, or even in black friday deals, samsung S4 or S3. so if you are not using mobile data, get it unlocked and go for it read the instructions perfectly, i did it twice without problems..

[Q] Mobistar Samsung I5801

Hello,
I have just buy a Samsung I5801 from Mobistar Belgium for my daughter. Unfortunatly i remark that the phone always connect to 3G mobile network and impossible to uncheck the mobile connection from the Mobile network parameters (it's simple there is no choice, in my HTC wildfire i have the possibility to uncheck all mobile network connection). When i create a dummy connection with false settings and i choose this last to connect to the mobile network the phone continue to connect to 3G through the mobistar portal.
I don't know what to do. Maybe root and flash my device to have an original Android Rom? The rom in this phone seems to be modified by Mobistar.
Can someone help please? Have someone the same problem?
you can download APNdroid or like software in market.
if not have simlock can flash to other i5800 firmware
and flash is not root..
Install a free app called My Settings from Market. In it there is option to toggle to 2g network from 3g. Try and report back.
Good luck !
Yes, I Swyped it from my Galaxy 3
don't solving
Both APNdroid and My setting don't solve the problem.
Also when deleted the APN settings and replace it by something else, the connection is always on AND active.
Is there a hard way to close any 3G communication from the device? I have ask to my provider to close any 3G communication from my number but still continue.
Flash your device then.
Alternatively put your phone in GSM-only mode. Try.
Yes, I Swyped it from my Galaxy 3

[Q] T Mobile Samsung Vibrant on Telcel Mexico (or ATT)

I have a previously SIM unlocked Samsung Vibrant that has since been upgraded to Froyo via the official Samsung release.
I am currently using the phone on Telcel Mexico which as I understand it uses the same data frequencies as ATT in the USA.
When I connect to the data network, I get Edge only.
What must I do to get 3G? I tested my SIM in an iPhone and I get 3g with my same SIM in an iPhone.
Try this as it could help both of us.
I found this thread from another source and haven't tried it myself since i haven't been in Mexico yet but i suppose this might help. I also have an unlocked Samsung Vibrant android version 2.2 and already put a AT&T SIM card and received 3G. Ill try this myself whenever i obtain a Telcel SIM.
So follow these steps as it could help both of us.
1. In your android phone, get into:
Settings-> Wireless and Network Settings-> Mobile Networks-> Access
Point Names (APN)
2. Then Create one NEW access point and give it a name, (I'll use: Internet 3G)
3. Fill in the data as follows:
APN: internet.itelcel.com
This is internet.itelcel.com<-------- itelcel has an initial "i"
Username: webgprs
Password: webgprs2002
APN type: default <------ Type the word "default" in lowercase and don't
put in the quotes
Leave all the rest fields with their default values.
4. Restart the phone and when it starts back up you should see the 3G logo
on the status bar.
If that didn't work I'm so sorry. Like I've said, i haven't tried this method yet but i will as soon as i get a 3G SIM card. If this didn't work thy following the steps shown in this thread. It says that Telcel runs on 850 MHz frequency and our phone aren't selected, by the default, to this frequency. There is a way to manually select it to this frequency, though. Once again these aren't my threads and are from outside source.

You type better English than most Australians I know
To use your carriers data service, you will need to set up what are called 'APNs' on your phone. This installs the correct settings on your phone to access the internet.
Setting up APNs is very simple. Go into Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks. In here there is an option called 'Access Point Names'. If you tap on it, you're probably looking at a blank screen. This is where we can add your carrier's internet settings
What carrier are you using? We will need to locate the correct settings for you, before proceeding
Talk to you soon!

Set APN In Samsung Galaxy S III i535

hello, i just recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-i535 From Verizon, but im living in Dominican Republic, i unlocked it!, but i can't set the apn configuration!, when i press the menu key it just say, Reset the default configuration, when i do it, it says that has been resetted correctly, but there is nothing on the screen, and i can't navigate unless i connect into a wireless connection, i flashed the cellphone to the Stock Firmware and i can't use my internet data, what can i do?
Here's what I've gathered, but since I haven't tried it out myself, I can't verify that it will work. As I am about to go overseas and use a local SIM card, I would really appreciated if you could try it out and respond back with the result.
* Step 1. Go ahead and install the apps APN Manager, Titanium Backup, Titanium Backup PRO, and Phone info app from Play Store. APN Manager and Titanium Backup PRO apps are pay apps but totally worth it if you want to turn your Verizon GS3 into World phone. For Titanium Backup app, you need to download both the free version and PRO key.
* Step 2. Next open up Titanium Backup app, hit the “Backup/Restore” tab and choose “APN Manager Pro”.
* Step 3. Swipe to the right.
* Step 4. Choose “convert to system app”.
* Step 5. Next, open up APN Manager Pro app and choose “Insert APN”.
* Step 6. Insert the APN settings for the country’s carrier you are traveling to. Google “Carrier APN settings”, replace “Carrier” with the carrier name of the country. For example, if you are going to use Prepaid SIM on UK’s Orange, google for “Orange APN settings”. Then you will want to input that APN info

As I understand it you can use a 3rd party foreign sim by activating the global roaming feature on your account online. Then in mobile settings changing your network mode to global. You may not have data though. My wife was able to do this when in Thailand. Her phone isn't rooted or unlocked.
If you're rooted you may be able to activate data by inputting the APN using the method described above. Please let us know if this works!!

To answer my own question, the steps I posted worked perfectly on CleanRom 5.6 (Jelly Bean based). I was able to use GSM 3G at HSPA+ speed on a local SIM card in Taiwan.
Now, does anyone know if I have to do anything when returning to the states?
3G or 4G in Dom. Rep.?
Hi, I would like to know if it will works 3g or 4g in Dominican Republic after follow this steps and applying this settings?, bands on my country are 850/900, thanks

[Completed] Help! Tmobile Samsung S7 locked only on 1800 mhz band. Already rooted

Hi everyone.
Last time i was in xda forums was when i try to mod my windows mobile CE 5.0 lol
This is my sad story:
I bought in the US a samsung s7 with T-Mobile SM-G930T, i paid a guy who 'unlocked' it in there. After that i brought it to Colombia, in here i run the T-mobile unlock app which succeded and erased itself after that. Then the cellphone started working with all the mobile companies in my country except for one that operates over 1800 mhz, other companies do work fine. When i insert a simcard of this company it just says that 'Not registered in network' and wont do nothing. I already tried to put the APN settings correctly (Actually it automatically loaded every company settings detected).
After that i tried to root with a modded Odin with a custom ROM and it succeeded and i got the SuperSU application, tho the cellphone its a little laggy now, but neither that way it worked. Anyone knows how where should i start looking?
I went to this company support and they sent me to Samsung support, which redirected me back to this company, lol
Thanks in advance guys

Hi,
It seems your phone is region locked due to which you are locked onto a particular mhz network frequency...
yes the first step would be to try to a custom rom to see if this over rides this situation or you could try below situation below... this is ideally for s6.... or atlast google search...

Ok, since now we have root, many users wanted to know if they can lock onto certain LTE frequency bands using Samsung's ServiceMode. So here is a quick guide.
ServiceMode is Samsung's proprietary Engineering Mode, built within the TouchWiz framework, readily available on International variants, and some domestic like T-Mobile. It allows us to observe the RF connection, change certain RF related settings, and lock our phones onto specific technologies and frequencies. Sadly, Verizon has been blocking user access to Engineering Mode for years now.
So in order to enable access to ServiceMode on Verizon GS6/Edge you'll need to:
- Download Root Explorer
- Navigate to /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu
- Use TextEdit to open it (not text viewer)
- Change the value to ON (upper case), Save and Exit
- Restart the phone
Once restarted you can dial:
*#0011# to observe the connection
If you want to lock your device onto a specific LTE band (13, 4, 2):
*#27663368378#
- UE Settings & Info
- Settings
- Protocol
- NAS
- Network Control
- Band Selection
- LTE Band Selection
Here you can force your phone onto a specific Verizon LTE Band (13, 4, 2), or use LTE ALL if you have VoLTE (Advanced Calling) enabled as this will eliminate the need for CDMA radios.
To go back to default, go through the same process but at Band Selection make sure to chose AUTOMATIC.
There are a lot more settings here, you can enable AMR WB on UMTS if you use T-Mobile so you can get HD Voice on their UMTS layer, etc... Carrier Aggregation has already been enabled, so no need to tweak that.
If you aren't sure what certain settings and values correspond to, it's better to avoid tinkering. You're responsible for your own actions.
According to this thread, he posted via visitor.
Then he registered and posted his query here so he seems to have posted in correct section.
Just documenting this here.
