Hi guys, if you are S-Off and you want to change your splash screen, you can do this over your hboot.
Credits:
- to jmztaylor and Facepalm crew for getting S-Off and for his tips
- to TrueBlue_Drew for his ready splash.img's
- the community where it did a lot of research
Notice:
I tested this myself on a european non-lte phone and it works. But as always bricks can happen and i am not responsible if your phone is dead afterwards.
Don't do this, if you are not experienced enough!
Requirements:
- A S-Off HTC One SV (tested on an Android ICS device).
- You need a splash.img, i took it from here (the htc_green one from second post). All credits to the author!
- Then you need a android-info.txt from attachment
- Or if you are experienced enough you can create your own picture with the tool from here.
How to do:
1.) If you take one of the ready ones linked above, download it and remove the .zip from the name of the file and rename it to splash1.img (for example: before it's called HTC_Green.img.zip, after renamed splash1.img). You now have already a working img file.
2.) Download the android-info.txt that fits for your device from attachment
- k2uandroid-info.txt for a device without LTE
- k2ulandroid-info.txt for a device with LTE
Rename it to android-info.txt
3.) Put the splash1.img and the android-info.txt together in a zip file a rename the zip to PL80IMG.zip
If you have a LTE device, please look before into bootloader if the filename is the same. The bootloader is searching for a flashable zip straight after starting, so you must be quick looking at your phone
4.) Copy the PL80IMG.zip file to your sd card
5.) Boot into bootloader
6.) In bootloader the file would be recognised and you must confirm to flash it with vol + button on the side of the phone
7.) After few seconds the file is flashed and confirming the reboot with on/off button you should see your new splash screen.
If you created your own img, proceed with step 2.)
Have fun!
Cool after moonshine s-off finally I can re-customise my splash screen.

You are going to enjoy this HTC splash . I didn't design it. I only converted it. dimensions are set to 480 by 800. Works perfectly. Enjoy it because it is so SHINNNNNYYYYYY!!!! lol Thanks for sharing that link to that nbimg. Using that made the image possible.
This works for k2_cl on JB in regards to the first post. Process is no different. Just got to have the proper txt file.

Yes, but if you aren't comfortable with it then put the splash file in a zip (stored, not compressed) along with your android-info.txt file and place it on the root of your ext_sd card then boot in to the bootloader. Follow the on screen instructions.

So this doesn`t work for the cricket version - K2PLC_CL?

Make sure the main version found inside the text file is the same as yours. You can check by going to settings > about > software information > software number.
It will look something like this (yours will be different of course):

Yes, open up the text file and where it says main version you will confirm that it matches what your device says. It always has to stay up to date with your device. So if you ever receive another update, make sure to check it (just in case).

So I'm not sure why this is happening lately, however, every time I boot into recovery mode, I get that triangle image with the exclamation point in the middle on my screen and a message ” Installation Aborted ” on the bottom of the screen. Any ideas on why this might be happening?
Sent from my Crack Injected Doubleshot using xda premium
That has happened to me once before, not sure why it happened though. All you can do really is press volume up and the power button again, hold until you launch the factory recovery screen, should be blue colored font and like only 3 or so options available. One option is to install/load update.zip, thats your CWM recovery image, once you load that you should be good. Its the only way to flash the custom recovey. While we are on the subject, does anyone know how to, or in what folder the recovery image needs to go in so that you can flash directly from rom manager?

Rom manager several issues on our phones. I would try termial emulator and root explorer for adding an image.

If you can hook your phone to your PC and have ADB installed follow the instructions below.
I imagine you can follow them from a terminal emulator on the phone as well, but the / key doesn't work from the hardware keyboard, and on some softkeyboards it's hard to find if it exists at all.
Another thread, with much more detail, is here.

Cool! I got a myTouch 4G Slide!
Not cool! No ClockworkMod recovery!
Solution! Make my own.
You must have a 'S-OFF' device to install this recovery image!
Here is my unofficial MoDaCo build of ClockworkMod for the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide / aka HTC Doubleshot. In order to flash this recovery, you need to have temproot or permanent root via Fr3evo (grab from here, push to /data/local, run via ADB then reconnect after it drops your connection for root access). If you need ADB, you can grab it here.
You use this image at your own risk! Proceed with caution!
To install, simply...
Download the ClockworkMod image file from here
Copy the file to /data/local ('adb push doubleshot.clockworkmod.4.0.0.9.modaco.img /data/local')
Write the image to the recovery partition ('dd if=/data/local/doubleshot.clockworkmod.4.0.0.9.modaco.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p21')
Do a recovery reboot to test ('adb reboot recovery').
That's it!

I'm not sure what exactly you're asking for.
All I did was follow these steps and it was no problem.
If you don't have ADB installed, instructions for installing ADB are here.
I'm pretty new at dealing with this phone, but if you post step by step what you're doing and what step the process breaks down at (i.e. where are you getting unexpected results) I'll try to help you.
I actually got out working again using the method described by unclespoon. I had to use terminal emulator and the copy/transfer the recovery image that way. I'm now back on MoDaco v4.0.0.9 Super excited and about to flash another ROM. I have officially reached flash junkie status.lol

Hello there! I am re-posting this from the Mytouch 3G thread which can be seen here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6507176#post6507176
I have made some slight modifications in order to make this work on the Evo Shift.
This is a Evo Shift tool to easily convert images in splash screen ones.
This tool is based upon ffmpeg and you need it installed on your system before proceeding (it will prompt you about the program missing in any case)
REQUIREMENTS
ffmpeg installed on your system
a 480x800 image
a 480x800 device (i.e. Evo Shift) with engineering SPL
USAGE
Code:
./ElegosSplashCreator.txt --help or -h
Prints out how to use the script
Make sure that the script and image you are converting are both in the same directory that you are in in the command line (Terminal)
Code:
./ElegosSplashCreator.txt your_image_file
Converts your image into a flashable splash screen, if you want the script will continue flashing the file directly.
I ASSUME NO RESPONSABILITY ABOUT THE USAGE OF THIS SCRIPT. USE IT "AS IS", LOOK AT THE OUTPUTS AND YOU'LL AVOID BRICKS!
Please, if you wish to redistribute this script, give the right credits and don't change the prog_header please (maybe link this discussion in a text file)!
Make ElegosSplashCreator.txt executable permissions (right click on file and go to Properties > Permissions, then make executable) and use it!
Here's mine, feel free to post your own folks
Flash these Splash Screens at your own risk. It is not my fault if you have a faulty usb cable or computer, or accidently unplug your phone while flashing! But the chance of a soft brick is very small
Fastboot images to flash in fastboot:
Here is a .zip attached below with all these splash screens ready to flash in fastboot with pics that match the names of each image to flash
How to flash: fastboot flash splash1 name.raw565

Two things:
First of all the pic that you attached needs to be 480x800 (the attached pic is 495x800). I know it's only 15 pixels, but it screws things up.
Second, for the life of me I can't figure out the script in the OP. I do my splash screens an entirely different way. Have you tried the script in the OP?
By the way, if you end up using this as a splash screen, don't forget to hit "Thanks"'

what I do is I put both the script and the pic in my home folder. That way when I open up terminal (command shell) I can run the script that way. The bottom of the OP shows how to run the script. He probably does not have linux set up or knows how to use it. It's common among a lot of android root users. That's why I posted mine to be flashable ready in a zip.

when you ruu it returns everything to stock including the splash screen, so yes.
Sweet. That's all I needed to know. Bout to take this shift back to best buy ... just remembered i signed up for their buy back and I have an extra shift so I can't lose.
So as some of you know I made a tutorial on how to change the boot logo (or splash screen as it is called on some devices). That is the Ugly Dual Core screen that nowadays just says "my phone has half as many cores as yours and by the way it sucks because moto made it".
Anyways. It is actually a really easy process to make your own, but this one I made specifically for our CM 10.1 You can use it on any rom, and in fact you do not even have to be rooted for it to work, but it does say Jelly Bean and Android 4.2.2.
this is what it looks like on the device.

Directions for installation:
Chose whichever you find easiest.
Method 1:
Download the attached ZIP FILE and flash it in any recovery. No wipe or anything required. You must have a bootstrap recovery of some sort obviously (like the one built in to CM 10) so you must be rooted. Reboot and enjoy!
Method 2:
Flash the BIN file with fastboot. NO ROOT REQUIRED
1. Put the BIN file in the same folder as a copy of fastbooot, or have fastboot in your path. If you don't know what I said, use the recovery method.
2. reboot into fastboot mode (hold vol. buttons while turning on and select fastboot)
3.
Code:
fastboot flash logo.bin logo.bin
fastboot reboot
4. Enjoy!
Method 3:
Only do this if it makes sense to you:
put the bin on the sdcard with adb or copy it, then cat it to /dev/block/mmcblk1p10. no reboot necessary, except to see it, duh.
Don't forget to say thanks, and if you want to make one yourself, it takes less than 5 minutes, see here: http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?Threads

The OG moto logo (in red) along with CM logo. Keep both the logos small and neat.
Just lose the text. I think it'll look much better and much more professional.

Will do, keep in mind you really want a black background probably, because these just centr on the screen (same width, but not height), so something else might not look good.
I wish there was a way to make them full screen with our phone, but alas, there is not. I'll do both and you can see how they look anyways
Added the 2 new logos to the op as flashable zips. that seems to be the preferred method. you can always just take the bin out of the zip if you want to use another.
Ok, i'll keep in mind. Thx.

No, that is incorrect. You are able to edit the system partition but not radio or rpm, tz, rcdata etc. with an unlocked bootloader but no S-OFF. S-OFF enables you to do anything and edit any partition.

I think everything you need is the relocked bootloader.
Yeah, the ruu will write the recovery back to stock itself. The only thing you need to do to run an ruu is relock the bootloader.
Keep in mind you will lose root if you run the ruu.

It sounds like it could be just a modem configuration problem. The first place I would check is: open up the dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* This will open a screen called "testing." Then go to "phone options" and scroll to the "preferred network type" option. Make sure that an option is picked that includes GSM. Be sure not to change any other options unless you know what they are for, this screen alters the core of the phone.
You also get to show off a hidden menu on your friends phone

it happen because the kernel is with write protection i.e. u can change the system partition ones but it be rolled back to stock after reboot
to avoid this you have to install a custom kernel with write protection disabled like Bullet proof kernel by flar( it is shared in forum have a look)

this is very wrong.
when u type: adb shell getprop "ro.cid"
it reads the cid stored in system\build.prop
in build.prop you can change to whatever you want.
the only way to make sure it's only throw fastboot.

iN 4.1.2 yes your correct. in 4.2.2 and later it reads from the partition that I listed.
in 4.2.2 and later there is not even a line in the build prop for ro.cid

SuperCID changes your Carrier ID so that you can flash any ROM using ANY RUU. For example, when the Google Edition stock HTC One is released in the Google store, it will cost $600+. When the RUU for it is released, you'll be able to use the RUU to turn your HTC One into a completely stock Google Edition One.

So what your'e saying is that I can go download any RUU from another HTC One forum and flash it using super CID to change my CID?
So using fastboot oem getvar writecid won't change the cid system wide on 4.2.2?

It does not matter it will work..I changed all of my cid's with hex editor only to find out it does not matter...it reports the old cid in some places because of when it was written ...if u flash a new ruu it will change plus its been reported that some did not hex edit all out and they still could flash everything

Careful with that, don't wander around flashing RUUs, doing so might also harm your device. Better to read into the topic of the RUU you are interested in carefully.
