I have seen many ppl complaining that the USSD sounds come even in silent mode and it's quite nnoying
this is a simple fix
1)you have to just reduce the media volume to zero after enabling silent mode coz media volume controls the ussd tones volume
2) download sliderwidgets app from play store
3) add a 4X1 widget or 1X1 widget for medi volume and reduce it to zero after you select silent mode everytime
NOW NOMORE ANNOYING USSD TONES IN SILENT MODE
why not just delete the tone from the system folder? Quick permanent solution.

Nah, No more Micromax in life. The build quality isnt good & they miss a lot of sensors in the phones. No decent after sales service. Not much device support on XDA. Luckily caus of varun chitre we got an xda section for a110. Moreover I want a phone of 3.5 - 3.8 inches which is easier to hold. Thats why looking at phones like Xperia U. Ya, I know about the SD card limitation.

The notification and call volume are the same. It has been the case ever since ICS and the only way to over come the issue is to use a custom rom, even rooting doesn't do anything to over come it.
I always sleep with phone on silent but I have started missing important unknown calls and was thinking that I should just keep my notifications silent when sleeping. So how do I do that on a nexus? Well I can't lol. Even if I select silent ring tone for notifications in the settings some apps like whatsapp have their own notification tone setting and will over ride whatever you have selected in settings. So basically I need to change the setting for every app everyday lol.
Now with iOS 6 even iPhone gives you higher control over notifications than stock Android. In the day of increased push services and what not a smartphone really needs to offer robust control over all this.

I used an app called volume control in the past to control notification and ring tone volumes individually. There's a free version on the play store. Give it a try

Solution to every problem out there. Go spend that $6. It's totally worth it.
I think a much bigger problem with vanilla android is the lack of a T9 dialer. This is one of the most useful and important features on a phone for me and i don't think there's any way to fix this without a custom ROM.
I wish google would just add this and get it over with. I see no reason why they haven't already done so.
i have no idea if the stock from has this feature but im running paranoidandroind 2.54 on my gnex and there is a option to link ringtone and notifications together or have them separate. But even before using this rom i remember when you go to setting->sounds->Volume you can change ring and notifications separately.

I agree; Android definitely needs better sound/LED notification controls. For an OS so heavily invested in "personalization," it certainly lacks any here But oh wait, the Android fanboys and Google nuthuggers say its fine, so I guess it must be, right?

there's ton of apps that let you "personalize" sounds and led notifications if you just look for them in the play store not to mention the countless roms that include these features. no need to start insulting people because of your ignorance.

You can get t9 with third party dialor you don't need custom rom or even root for that. I use touch pal contacts its a brilliant app and you can theme it as well. The best thing about android is that you can change default system apps.
And people I have used several profile applications but all of them are riddled with bugs. The more powerful an app is the more bugs it seems to have. And some of those bugs can be so severe its not even funny. Like one of these apps "profile scheduler" would sometimes disconnect my network after a phone call lol wut.
However of course I am not giving up I am searching for apps that can unlink the notification and ring tone volume and seems like some of the devs have been able to do it now.
I am rooted btw so I will look into the recommendations put forward by a few posters.

Because Samsung was never stupid enough to link the notification and ring tone volume. Bleh android oem's can be good at times lol.
I am also amazed at the blocking mode in jelly bean galaxy S3. I would like to see Samsung add profiles to blocking mode but in any case it trumps every other phone in terms of the sheer control it gives you. I have realised it really is better for such critical features to be built in instead of using an "app".

after updating my canvas 2 with jelly bean, i experienced my mobile volume is now lower than it was with ICS.
also, i am using dr. battery killer which kills almost 20-25 processes each time. but in ICS, it was only 6-10 processes, that was also in rare cases. so how can i limit the background processes?
i tried to manually stop few of them but they restart automatically.
please help!

Hi,
I have been using the Mi4i for some time now, and I should agree that I am being bowled over the display time and time again. Not to forget the MIUI, which i am a newbie and it is fascinating over stock android. A few issues that I have faced of late, and would like to ask others if they have faced these, and if yes do we have a workaround ? I have upgraded to 6.5.6.0, still its same.
1. At times, incoming calls do not ring, it vibrates, screen is awake but no sound as ringtone. Restart resolves it, but i wonder for how long.
2. On a few restart occasions I see the second sim does not connect, another restart follows.
3. I am more adept at using Gravity Screen to turn off/on screen, it seems to consume a lot of battery and hence had to abandon it for this phone.
4. Anyone knows of the "Double Tap To Awake" feature (some external apps) to help with, possibly with lower battery consumption, relegating the use of power button.
5. Anyone tested it to speak out numbers/contact names for incoming calls ? I tried DW Contacts/Speak Caller ID apps but no luck.
In the wake of overheating (its still heating with the latest update but less comparatively), no sound on on ringtone, network issues I requested Flipk*rt for a return, they asked me to install an app from the site below:
https://rink.hockeyapp.net/apps/048138767ad146a538155a799701bda9 (SmartChk App - Not from play store and god knows what this does in the name of testing)
I did not indulge and they replied back saying seller had disapproved the return request :victory:
Anyone knows of a decently priced magnetic flip cover/tempered glass/normal flip cover for this phone ?

Glad to know abt u don't have other problems with this phone
Abt double tap to wake up this feature currently present on the developer rom but it has bug due to which phone is always awake which consume lot of battery other then that it's a nice update idk if u noticed but 6.5.6 is a bad update its lags a lot
The cover and tempered glass they are all over flipkart and mostly on ebay

Hi ruffain,
Nice to have your references.....I noted in the forum that double tap to awake is on the dev roms but am looking for a good app with user feedback from this vast XDA community.
The update 6.5.6 stands good for me, though I should divulge that I had a fastboot ROM flash and wiped out everything instead on normal update (possibly averting a pile up).
The cover/tempered glass on FlipK*art do not have good ratings, I checked almost all of them, a few good ones command a very higher price. You sound as if you have other problems with this phone ? Sharing it may help !!!!

Well everyone will agree with the new update being laggy I was on the Dev ROM but the battery drain was pretty bad also some have complained abt problem with charging the phone i also faced them so i am back to 6.5.5 other then that no other issues...
Are you for apps that allow dt2w?
Sent from my Mi 4i using Tapatalk
Yes, some good apps dt2w that do not tax the battery, possibly if you have used some of them, as user experience is imperative and is almost equivalent to trust in today's world of thousand and one apps in the play store.
Not necessarily d2tw, I am looking forward to any app that prevents me to tap/hit the power button for unlocking my phone, gravity screen is hogging battery like anything hence i had to discard it. My previous phone Lava Iris X1, came with a magnetic flip cover and hence I did not have to use the power button apart from shut down and restarts.

[APP] Ring Master - vibrate first, gradually ring for phone calls, WhatsApp & more
Play Store Link
About a month back I happened to read this article on XDA about Pixel's new feature that makes the phone vibrate first and then ring gradually. I have seen this gradual ring on some phones but never with "vibrate first". In about 3 weeks I managed to come up with Ring Master that will bring this feature to all other Android devices, with option to customise vibrate duration, ringer duration and volume percentage as well.
I was about to release it when I wondered if I could extend it to other voice calling apps as well besides regular phone. Unlike phone calls, Android OS doesn't provide any API for a developer to detect when an incoming call comes on a messenger app like WhatsApp or Duo. I had to find a workaround for this and I am happy to say I have a nearly perfect working system now. This means perhaps for the first time you can now have gradually increasing ringtone for your WhatsApp and other voice calls as well. You can select which all apps you want to enable it and Ring Master will ignore if a call comes in any other app.
One concern about these ringer apps is how it will behave when your phone is in silent mode. Rest assured, if your phone is in Silent/Vibrate or Do Not Disturb mode, Ring Master won't do anything at all. Similarly, it only changes your ringer volume when it has to. Your media, notification, alarm volumes are left untouched.
The app as such is free if you use it in its default configuration. You can even test the settings before applying. But in order to apply the changed settings, you need to upgrade to Pro version that costs just $0.99.
Please test out the app and let me know your thoughts. As always, in case you encounter any issue, please write to [email protected] before leaving a review on Play Store.

Hi!
It's a great idea to implement this app.
I want to test it some days, in order to try it and check it if I get use to it, but as I only have the default options, the max volume it gets is 30% (to low for me) and I can't use it, because I could miss phone calls.
There is a chance to change the max volume in order to try the app? If not, don't worry. And seriously, good app.
Thanks in advance!

In the Settings screen you can click the Test button to see if vibration and ringer works to your needs. But yes, you cannot apply the setting in free version.
I would request you to upgrade to full version and try it out with actual phone call. And no need to worry about refund window. Any time you feel like the app isn't satisfactory, please feel free to write to [email protected] with your order number. I will issue a full refund.
