[Q] Battery Calibration

I have a question about battery calibration.
After I deleted batterystats.bin, the meter seems to be working fine (prior to deletion, battery meter was not correct - for example, only 50% battery was remaining, but battery meter would be around 70%.
Anyway, do I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new/upgrade ROM?
I've been changing to different ROMs frequently nowadays to find best battery ROM. So I was wondering if I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new ROM.
Thank you!
Honestly I dont think it matters much. I've heard arguments both ways but what I do is I calibrate when I first get me phone (or a new battery) and thats it. I get great battery like even going between roms

You MUST delete the battery stats.bin everytime you flash a new rom

I don't agree with the word must. It would be a good thing after a few flashes but EVERY time is not needed.

Um.. no. theres a proper way to caliberate the battery.
If that was the case then I'd be wiping my battery stats everyday because of CM7 nightlies
But yeah, I'd probably say just do it if you feel that your battery life is awful. Maybe once every 3-5 months? I've had the NS since it first came out and I haven't wiped my battery stats. Battery life is still amazing, so I don't know.

Android System Going Rogue

I used to get great battery life with other roms on my galaxy but now since upgrading to the new ucla3 modem my battery dies extremely fast and the android system is always up around 48%! with the phone just sitting ill loose 30% over night when i used to lose 4% or 5% (about 9 hours). Any help would be great i just want to get back that amazing battery life

It definitely sounds like you have a background process running continously and you are not 'deep-sleeping'. Use CPU Spy and check to see if "time-in-state" clock cycles... you should be deep-sleeping 90% of the time during screen-off and know you have shutdown apps you normally use. My experience with UCLA3 modem is very favorable... faster data speeds and better reception coverage. I'm running it with the stock UCLA3 rom and UCLA kernel, and my Android system usage bounces around 1% to 5% CPU usage at any point in time. What rom/kernel are you running? Another suggestion is to use BetterBatteryStats app... great for checking which processes/apps generate wakups, partial wakelocks, and process times.
Ya i know what your talking about and i do have cpu spy and my phone is sleeping quite a bit but it seems that system_server just wakes it up and runs like crazy. im on nexus mod 4 and faux kernel undervolted. anything i could freeze to help with this?
BetterBatteryStats will tell you which processes ars generating wakeups and how many minutes /seconds they're actively using battery
OKay i think i found the problem with my battery drain just running a few trials to see if it really back to normal. will report back
Ya it was weird but i think that the battery drain was the ucla3 update on a rogers phone. not sure but when i went back to rogers radio and quikwiz rom my battery drain issues dissapeared :S oh well thank for your help though

Cell Standby Battery Drain On LiquidSmooth RC7 ROM?

Hi All,
I'm noticing that Cell Standby is taking up a large % of the battery on LiquidSmooth RC7 ROM. Is anybody else noticing this?
Is this due to the same issue with where the power_profile.xml file is set to use 34 mA instead of 3.4 mA?
Is there a proper zip file to fix this issue if so? I know there have been some in the past but not sure if they work for AOSP ROMs and more specifically for LiquidSmooth RC7 ROM.
Thanks.
a little off topic.. but how are you getting 16 hours without a charge and still at half battery %?
i have the processor governor on Powersave and i'm a heavy user of my phone on liquidsmooth RC7 and i barely get 10% of battery life an hour.

Your cell standby is not high... By the looks of it you were on wifi and didn't use your phone that much because you have 16 hours on without a charge and still have a lot of juice left... From what I understand cell standby goes up the less you use the phone...so it looks normal to me imo but I'm no expert

pschatz12 is right that I was barely using the phone besides talking to my wife when I was driving home. In regard to the processor governor, I never changed the settings after flashing so it's whatever the default is. However, I don't believe it is correct that cell standby would take up the most power without that cell standby power drain bug because I used to have this same issue on regular ICS stock ROM and it was fixed when I updated the power_profile.xml file that is located within the framework-res.apk file in /system/framework.
The problem is, you have to recompile the file or it won't work properly and could potentially soft brick the phone which has happened to me before.
As a result, I'm asking if anybody else on LiquidSmooth RC7 rom is noticing this Cell Standby power drain issue because I don't think it should be normal and is something that the developers should potentially look at fixing.
In terms of battery life I get on this ROM, I have let it sit without using it for 2 days and 2 hours (so 50+ hours) and when I looked at the phone it still had 26% battery left so it's pretty good. However, I just don't like seeing Cell Standby take up so much battery life and it just reminds me of the Cell Standby power drain issue mentioned in this post on the original ICS ROM:

First let me say I love Redemption ROM, it is the most stable of what Ive found.... Anormal Battery Drain

Hello guys,
I have noticed some Battery Drain in my G920F since I have changed the stock kernel for Arter Kernel (I'm on Stock 6.0.1 rom).
But I don't think that Arter is the problem, I will explain to you :
I have migrated to Arter Kernel and the battery life was great (better than stock) but since some days (after 2-3 month of Arter) my battery does not take long, I need to charge my battery 2-3 times a day ! And I do not use it often because of my studies. I have checked the battery settings and the first battery utilization is the screen, I have calibrated my battery with this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
But nothing works !
Someone has a solution ? Maybe I have to change my Rom ? Any advice for a fast Rom and good battery life ?
Thanks in advance !
