got the same problem once. the only thing you have to do is flashing a stock recovery, then a custom one again. it should work i think
edit: ups, when i had this issue i wasnt even able to start my phone, i dont know if it helps anyway

Thanks guys....to bad my work shift is to long 12hrs... I have to wait till I get home tonight and give this a try. Btw, my boots and all but no sd card access at all. It happened after I flashed a different kernel, but it was giving me reboots so I went back to stock, then I flashed a different kernel again many reboots...went back to the default kernel that came with my rom again, try to access my pictures, then files and I could not. I guess it was time for this to happen after so many things that I have flash... Thanks again guys.

Only starts in Recovery Mode - HELP!

Please Help!
I was installing a ROM on my Inspire 4G from ClockworkMode Recovery, but the problem is that after having installed, the phone does not start the ROM, just enter on the Recovery, and I go back to reboot and return to Recovery and I can start my phone.
Any ideas?
Could be a bad flash, try first wiping and flash again. Or a bad download, download with a PC and save it to your and card flash again. What ROM are you trying to flash?

I was trying to flash Android Revolution 6.3.2, I tried 5 times and nothing.. Cant start my phone... I do not think it was a bad download because it was installed and I have the files on my pc, but I changed my ROM and wanted to install it again.
Do you have a Old back up you could try? are you wiping? Have you tried a different ROM? I'm just trying to get all the info, there is a issue with your boot setup not setting up

a few days ago I had a problem with my bootloader it took about 20min to start But I could solve it with this method:
"Managed to solve the delay after booting by Following These steps:
download http://tinyurl.com/6fkvepx
unzip-HBFX.zip PD98IMG
installer using busybox
turn on usb debugging
adb push hboot.nb0 / data/local/tmp/hboot.nb0
adb shell
md5sum / data/local/tmp/hboot.nb0
dd if = / data/local/tmp/hboot.nb0 of = / dev/block/mmcblk0p18
md5sum / dev/block/mmcblk0p18
exit
adb reboot "
That might damaged in any way?
And yes, i`m wiping.
I don't think so; everything you pushed should be formatted when you wipe and overwritten when you install. I don't want to say it but you could have a bootloader issue and reverting to stock and doing all that might help but that seems a little to drastic. If you jump on the IRC with the hack kit they might be able to tell you how to flash your bootloader over without a complete revert and the devs on the collective's Palringo chat room may have some better options.

Thinking about it a little more and reading your post again. I would look at flashing your bootloader again. I want to say it's as easy as loading a pm_img and flashing through hboot but double check with someone it's late but you should find someone on IRC

Ok I'm now becoming something of little help. But before I go to bed, I had a similar problem on my sister in-law's phone and it was a bad SD card. Remove it and try booting without it.

That`s the only way i find it to fix the problem, and from the IRC channel i had some help too..

Are you using CWM by any chance? Also in one of Scott's threads, (I cant remember which one CleanROM DE 2.2 I think) someone used a data recovery program to get it back.

So... CWM was a turd on the OG, and still is? I only gave it one chance to screw me, which it did, then I moved to Amon Ra, and was forever happy afterwards...

Yup, a lot of people have been having that with cwm. It has been recommended by scott and some others that you use TWRP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677447
It still has bugs but no where near as bad as the data loss that seems to be happening on CWM
WOW!!!! i had no idea!!! well twrp is what i will be using from now on, thank you very much for letting me know, i had a couple beers and when this happend... well i was a little dumb founded.... lol gonna flash twrp. thanks a million guys!!

After re-reading your snark, it occurred to me that flashing the recovery wasn't the issue. Flashing the mod was. Weird that it took a few beers to make it clear...

I've had this happen on cwm not the entire sdcard but random items or folders. But what I have noticed is that it's not happening after the flash its actually happening after I mount as disc drive then unmount went back and checked before flashing and things were missing.

Anyway to get back the lost data?? I mounted as usb in recovery, put the file dim button mod. On my isb, unmount and my sd card was wiped, only two folders left on it...
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I doubt this is a CWM problem IMO, I am using TWRP and I have this problem too, for me this has happened 3 times so far, and always after mounting in ubuntu (I always umount and eject). 1st time it deleted few tibu files, later a major part of pics, zips and tibu. Latest yesterday. Lucky I use unison and sync my files...
Wondering what it is?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Flashed maybe 5 times or so using CWM, various builds of CleanROM, and also rooted deodexed 1.85. Every time was fine, except the latest time where I lost a bunch of random folders and files. All my music was gone, but folder still there. CleanROM mods folder not there. Titanium Backup folder gone. Couple photos and videos were corrupted, but files still there. Lots of stuff ended up in the LOST.DIR folder (randomly renamed).
At some point had mounted to a Windows PC to sync music. Not sure if the corruption/missing files happened before or after that.
Luckily, I had backed up most stuff fairly recently to my PC. Mostly due to the fact that one user on the CleanROM thread had posted that his whole SD card wiped somehow while flashing. I only lost a couple photos, and not anything I was interested in trying to recover.
As the cause is not yet known (and seems to be on TWRP and CWM), I'd recommend backing up anything you don't want to lose, before flashing anything. Especially the Titanium folder, and anything not replaceable and of sentimental value (like photos).
I had this happen, and I too think it is more of an issue with transferring files over USB and then not properly unmounting the device before unplugging or something like that. At any rate, I used Piriform's Recuva software to recover my files. Found everything, all my pics and videos, and zip files, etc... And it is free.
Run the scan ASAP as transferring files over to the device could start to overwrite the "deleted" stuff.

[Q] HTC one X crashes during install, loops, van't do a thing

Oh dear this looks really really bad! I hope someone can help me
I tried to install Slim ICS on my HTC one X. So I did a complete wipe and then I flashed Device_x.x.zip***, and then Slim_Common.zip
But now my phone keeps rebooting and rebooting and rebooting. There is nowhere to go, even if I go to recovery and try to wipe again it goes straight back to the Slim install screen and it starts rebooting again :crying:
Does anyone have any idea how I can get out of this loop?
Desperate here
No nandroid?

I am afraid not. Stupid I know :silly:
Happens to all of us lazy people or when Ur excited to flash ;P. I know the one x requires a flash of a certain file in order to work are u installing the right one?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I think I did yes. I did everything according to the instructions. I did install custom roms on this device before. No problems then. Whatever I do now it keeps going back to the install screen.
I'd recommend you check the md5 for the Rom if it fails download it through Ur pc and transfer via recovery menu (if your recovery supports it)

Will try and report back!
Thanks
now this is interesting. I downloaded HTC One X all in one kit
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...very_-_what_to_do_in_the_event_of_a_bad_flash
I then flashed another recovery program and that one DID let me clear cache etc. so no more install screen! However....when I want to flash a zip from sdcard it says no such file! Sdcard seems empty but I am 100 % sure I did not format that!
So question now is how do I install when it's not on my sdcard. you were saying transferring though recovery but how do I do that. Mount USB storage does not work: unable to open ums 1unfile. Oh my...I need a beer
Well I give up! I am now going to try to unroot and get back to stock since you can install stock rom through USB. Flashing stock recovery works....I got that far Now I have to wait a few hours for the rom dowload to finish so I guess I am going to get that beer now. I sure hope I don't have to throw my phone out of the window tonight
My phone is locked again, RUU, and SDARD works. Sorry for the drama but I really thought I bricked my phone. I think I will leave it alone tonight......and start rooting again tomorrow
Lol its all good. Sorry for leaving haha mw3 lol and I don't have the one x I got the LTE EVO

Soft Brick?

Hey guys,
Just experienced what I think is a soft brick. I know that this has been talked about a dozen times, and I have searched. I just want a more experienced yes or no to be sure.
Basically, last night I tried flashing PAndroid on my skyrocket and I went through the format system, format data, factory reset, and wipe cache. Then when I went into flash a zip it said something to the effect of "E: Can't access SD Card". So then I tried to use my band road but that also gave me the error. I then tried to mount the SD card, but it gave me another error. So, guessing that it would just factory reset me, I rebooted.
Now, my phone will vibrate and flash the Samsung logo before going to a black screen (but the screen is on). It also had the symptom of sticky power button for a while with the few second interval buzzing, but I jammed the power button and it seemed to stop doing that and is now doing the aforementioned thing instead.
Should I go use Vincom's soft Brick guide? Also, does anyone have a link to a 7zip extractor that isn't riddled with viruses? (had a hell of a time getting rid of them the first time I rooted haha)
Again, I know this is probably a fairly obvious answer, but yall have just been so helpful in the past that it makes me want to come here before just winging it. And I'm really nervous with this being my first time haha.
Thanks a lot guys, yall are the best!

You wiped system. That's why nothing is happening. You should still be able to enter recovery. Now why your recovery was giving you that error is a different story. Go to recovery and copy the version down here.

Okay, I managed to get into recovery, but I'm still getting the error about the SD card not being mounted. I was looking on Google and I found two different solutions. One was to re flash CWM with Odin, but would that mess up my phone because it already has CWM on it? The other was to reformat my SD card on the computer, but I have no honest idea how to do that haha.
EDIT: v6.0.1.4

Re-Flashing cwm won't mess anything up. Formatting the sd card will remove everything on it including the rom you're trying to flash.

New to Inspire

Hey guys, I just picked up a Inspire as a play toy since my cousin upgraded.. What in looking for is a RUU for the latest update if there is any.. 2.3.5, firmware 3.20 if I'm not mistaken. (Its not in front of me at the moment).. I've tried numerous sites and it seems as though they don't exist anymore..
Quick history, phone worked fine. Bone stock, never rooted or unlocked. So she took the latest update, and ever since then it has problems... Main thing is when the screen goes black, it reboots. EVERY SINGLE TIME. So I decided to unlock via htcdev, fastbooted twrp 2.4.4.0, and flashed a rom to see if it fixed it. Flashed jellytime and respective gapps, no dice. Phone is still rebooting upon locking. Last resort is a ruu... I've tried over clocking, overvolting, etc... No go. I'm not ruling out hardware 100%, but bc it didn't do this before the update makes it last on my list... Any advice?

There seems to be a link with the files, haven't checked if it's in it. As well, I have a copy of the last inspire update but no where to upload it and in case you can't find it via the provided link.
Hey thanks man. I'll give that a shot .
One more question, if I flash the stock lower firmware zip, would that be enough to run the aahk to s-off? Or is there more to it than that? Last time I tried it said the firmware was not supported up to that version

I wouldn't recommend flashing a lower firmware.... Not sure if anything bad will happen but it does not seem like a good idea. Besides, aahk has been retired. There is no support for it and it is only for advanced users.
You can try glevitans tool in the development section to unlock your bootloader but he two has left these forums due to too many self rightious (or however you spell that) noobs.

Right... I'm already unlocked and rooted.. So there's no way to s-off without jumping through hoops? Lol... I can throw out some fastboot and adb commands... But as far as DD'ing blck partitions I'll just give up on s-offing

Hopefully someone could give a few more opinions before I throw this thing in the trash can... I'm still having the reboot issue... I can use it for hours on end as long as the screen is on. It will stay on if its connected to any power source... But when its not plugged in and the screen locks it reboots about 3 seconds later...
Didn't do this before I took the 2.35 ota.. I've tried 15 different ROMs, different kernels, I tried overclocking and trying to get rid of deep sleep. Don't know what else to do. I'd love to try to raise the voltage but every kernel/ROM I use doesn't give me that option.
Also I'd like to mention when I boot into bootloader it immediately searches for pd98img.zip. is this normal? I never seen another boot loader look for a certain file..
Anyway, any help will be appreciated... I'd hate to get rid of this phone if its fixable...
