Hey guys, I just picked up a Inspire as a play toy since my cousin upgraded.. What in looking for is a RUU for the latest update if there is any.. 2.3.5, firmware 3.20 if I'm not mistaken. (Its not in front of me at the moment).. I've tried numerous sites and it seems as though they don't exist anymore..
Quick history, phone worked fine. Bone stock, never rooted or unlocked. So she took the latest update, and ever since then it has problems... Main thing is when the screen goes black, it reboots. EVERY SINGLE TIME. So I decided to unlock via htcdev, fastbooted twrp 2.4.4.0, and flashed a rom to see if it fixed it. Flashed jellytime and respective gapps, no dice. Phone is still rebooting upon locking. Last resort is a ruu... I've tried over clocking, overvolting, etc... No go. I'm not ruling out hardware 100%, but bc it didn't do this before the update makes it last on my list... Any advice?

Test it without the sd card.
Reflash the ruu.

There seems to be a link with the files, haven't checked if it's in it. As well, I have a copy of the last inspire update but no where to upload it and in case you can't find it via the provided link.
Hey thanks man. I'll give that a shot .
One more question, if I flash the stock lower firmware zip, would that be enough to run the aahk to s-off? Or is there more to it than that? Last time I tried it said the firmware was not supported up to that version

I wouldn't recommend flashing a lower firmware.... Not sure if anything bad will happen but it does not seem like a good idea. Besides, aahk has been retired. There is no support for it and it is only for advanced users.
You can try glevitans tool in the development section to unlock your bootloader but he two has left these forums due to too many self rightious (or however you spell that) noobs.

Right... I'm already unlocked and rooted.. So there's no way to s-off without jumping through hoops? Lol... I can throw out some fastboot and adb commands... But as far as DD'ing blck partitions I'll just give up on s-offing

Hopefully someone could give a few more opinions before I throw this thing in the trash can... I'm still having the reboot issue... I can use it for hours on end as long as the screen is on. It will stay on if its connected to any power source... But when its not plugged in and the screen locks it reboots about 3 seconds later...
Didn't do this before I took the 2.35 ota.. I've tried 15 different ROMs, different kernels, I tried overclocking and trying to get rid of deep sleep. Don't know what else to do. I'd love to try to raise the voltage but every kernel/ROM I use doesn't give me that option.
Also I'd like to mention when I boot into bootloader it immediately searches for pd98img.zip. is this normal? I never seen another boot loader look for a certain file..
Anyway, any help will be appreciated... I'd hate to get rid of this phone if its fixable...

Thanks for the reply. I was just flashing, but a power outage hit my computer while the file was "sending". I freaked out, but luckily the phone still works still on 1.73. Are there any things I need to do before the 1.83 that I didn't do before? I'm going to try it again. The taste of custom ROMs is too good to live without (I came from an Atrix (awesome devs))

You might want to flash from a laptop. Losing power is the last thing you want to do during a flash and could potentially brick it if it were to fail.

Yeah, luckier this time. Finally finished flashing. Took about 2 or three hours. Maybe more. I feel so happy those nervous breaths are finally over! Thanks for all of your time.
It took me 10min to flash, but the whole process took me all day. My goal was achieve root and unlocked status and it was a success.
Guide:

I checked all the other bricked threads and none have the same problem as me.
My HTC ONE X will not boot and or charge. I cannot get access to the bootloader or recovery.
My HTC ONE X had it's bootloader unlocked via the rogers htc-dev method. I also installed clockwork recovery. It is rooted also but you prob figured that already...
I pulled a bonehead move by flashing the MIUI rom the international one x by changing the update script to flash onto my phone. After it flashed it looked like it worked. When I left recovery and shut the phone off it would not turn back on.
I called AT&T they said they will switch it for me when they get a shipment but I want to keep this phone because the boatloader is unlocked and they might patch the rogers method.
Thanks in advanced.
P.S. I know how to use adb and other tools such as RUU and they did not work.
Have you tried holding the power button for 10 seconds to reset it? You should see the 3 lights below flashing.

First of all, you should be able to get to H-Boot by holding volume down when turning it on.
Second of all, this is why they lock the bootloader in the first place.

H-Boot key combo is not working.
I have been flashing roms since the samsung moment, I built and modified roms on my EVO and ported roms from other phones to the EVO. I always had recovery to fall back onto to get my phone booting again. Even when I had the Xperia Play that required a PC to boot recovery I was still able to get the phone to work. This phone is strange that is will not even turn onto H-boot/Bootloader.

Im glad I have my iPhone to fall back on but it is really annoying that I cannot even get the bootloader to load. I only had it 3 days and already broke it.
Thank God the dude at AT&T cannot get into the bootloader also to see that is was tampered with so they are giving me a replacement.
And people wonder why at&t locks their phones down. I'm guessing you just told them "my phone broke...I have no idea what happened". Just lovely.

Honestly, not trying to call you stupid or something, but did you really think it was going to run on this phone when it was meant for another one? The GPU and CPU are completely different...
Anyway, I'm glad AT&T is replacing it for you. Hopefully if someone else bricks the same way then they will be able to get a replacement as well.
so you are smart enough to use adb, an RUU, unlock your bootloader, root, flash roms.......but you aren't smart enough to see the hundreds of posts saying that the international roms don't work on our phones??
lol
Coming from a phone that is virtually unbrickable (Captivate), I'm quite curious about how you managed to get it into this state. What exactly did you flash? Did the package contain both the system image and bootloaders for the tegra3 one x?

My EVO was unbrickable too, I flashed a rom that was designed for the international version. It only contained system and other basic rom stuff, nothing that was crazy.
No idea why you wouldn't be able to boot into recovery then. I hope all HTC handsets aren't like this..

Goto
http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Then search for the "mytouch 4G Slide". There will be the stock rom that can be applied in the bootloader. Just charge phone to 100%. Then put the downloaded zip from HTC Dev on the (Root of a CLEAN) SD card, and enter the boot loader (Vol+/Power). Then it'll find the zip, and ask you stuff. Blah, Blah, Blah. Your 100% Factory.

Ignore what I said about the re-locking method, just flash the file from HTC. It puts the stock recovery, and boot.img on. Just do it via bootloader. Easiest way.

I got kind of excited when I saw this, but all I've ever found at htcdev for the MT4GS is a couple of ZIPs of kernel sources. (To others, that's what those CRC and MR files are. I don't know the difference, but they are just sources and some docs.)
So, is the helpful advice from AgentCherryColla just a mistake, or have other files been there in the past? Or maybe some other location?
(Unofficial copies of signed stock ROMs are available with pointers in various threads here.)
Hi,
I have big problem with Wifi, Bluetooth & GPS on my phone.
10 days ago, my phone work very great with ViperX 3.3.3 (stock kernel of the ROM). But, when i trying download the Maps offline via Wifi Network (5% downloaded), wifi automatic turn-off, i try turn on it in the Settings, it show 'error' message (Bluetooth & GPS also not work, cant turn on it). While Mobile network work fine.
I was flash more ROM another (stock kernel), & custom kernel (include module), with full wipe & erase cache. But still not fix it
Is this a hardware issue? Can i fix it for myself? HTC's service in my country is bad i dont want send my phone for them.
Plz help me!
Many thanks for read my post.

Did you get this sorted?
I just bought a used HTC One XL at&t and I can't get either BT or WiFi to turn on. I've tried several different modems with no change, a full wipe did nothing as well. The guy I bought it off said about the issue when I bought it but reckoned it was because of the way he flashed a ROM.
I'm running a older HBoot, could that cause it? Currently on CM10.1.

it might be because of cm10.1 some people had to go with a sense rom to get it to work download one of the stock rooted roms and flash it and try agian also some have had to try a couple of times to get it to work read though that thread and see what they did to get it to work
Got it working. Had a couple of issues (old versions of ADB/fastboot and needed to power down my phone completely to copy across the zip in step 3).
So, now... Does this mean I can flash any radio/RUU I want and not worry about bricking it? I'm on the Telstra network in Australia. Any idea what I should try and flash to see if I can get the WiFi/BT to work? Just the link above that you posted?
yes now you can flash any thing you want you do not have to relock bootloader to run a ruu i would try the ruu i linked you since you have a at&t phone you will have to fastboot
flash a recovery after the ruu because it will make your phone stock
edit no on bricking there is always a chance of a brick when flashing firmware
I'm such a nub. I don't have enough of an idea what I'm doing...
I've flashed a couple of different Telstra radio's but they haven't made any difference. On my SGS2, I could just flash different modems to fix things like this. Is that the same as what radio's are for HTC's? Or do I need to flash a whole RUU and start again?
Is there somewhere better to ask for guidance/help? Or should I just keep going here?
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2
i would try the ruu that will tell you if you have a hardware problem
edit and yes radio and modem are same thing i know how you feel came from samsung phones too you just have to learn the terminology it is always good to read the stickys
No worries. I'll download the RUU tomorrow at work and flash it. Fingers crossed!!!

I've been running ViperXL (Bulletprrof 1.3 kernel) just fine fine for a few weeks. It's been nearly flawless. Just now, though, the backlight went out and nothing I do seems to bring it back on. I've rebooted, plugged into AC, and tried booting into recovery. In the sunlight I can see just enough to know the device is on. I've managed to get into settings, which thankfully has a white background, and verified that brightness is at max.
There is no backlight even through the reboot process.

When you reboot the phone, does the boot image (Default HTC Screen) also have no backlight? Or in recovery is there a backlight? If not, it's a hardware failure. Screen would need to be replaced. If the backlight comes on when in recovery or during first boot image, then it's something software related which is easier to fix.
There's no backlight anywhere. I know it's not kernel since I was able to fastboot flash the default kernel for ViperXL over USB.
If I bought this through AT&T less than a year ago does anyone know if it's under warranty? I'd hate to pay to get the screen replaced. I'd rather try to get it back to stock and take it in.
That's assuming, of course, someone can point me to instructions for getting back to stock! I've looked but haven't seen any in the forum.
It's hardware. You need a new screen. You would need to s-off if you're not already and then run the appropriate ruu for your carrier. I believe at&t will warrant it np.
S-off directions are stickied in original android dev section and ruu's can be found in the resource compilation thread linked in my signature.
Make sure to download an executable Ile and not a zip. Easier to return to stock with exe

It will return your phone to stock but your bootloader will still be unlocked and you will still have s-off. You can spoof it like it's never been unlocked and return it to s-on though I doubt that would be worth the trouble.

I see. So you don't think they'd bother digging too deeply to notice it's s-off and unlocked? I'll run the RUU tonight and check in later.
I really appreciate your help this evening.
Since it's a hardware issue, I doubt they'll care to dig That far into it. From what I see on here AT&T is pretty lenient about unlocked phones, especially when it's a hardware issue.

I'm having difficulty running the RUU. I've rebooted and connected my device to my computer and run the RUU utility. It says it can't find the device and to check the connection. I can't see the screen well enough to turn debug mode on or off on the device. What can I do to run the RUU?
Try running while in bootloader/fastboot?

That did it, thanks. Now to wait until the sun is bright enough out today to wipe the SD card through settings.
I'm going to miss being rooted.
