Hey Guys,
I found out about Zipaligning apps make them faster since Android align the apks in some way to run them smoother and use a bit of less RAM, so the question is since im running stock ROM do i have to zipalign my currently installed apps? I know if the developers made it in Eclipse from September 2012 and forward it should be zipaligned but my ROM isn't.
So what you guys say?
Trying to learn as much as i can about Android.
bump
I think you should go a bit slower, zipalign it's advanced stuff...
start with basic stuff, flash a custom Rom and take it from there...
Well i meant since i have a stock rom, do i have to zipalign my apps to enjoy that feature?

you can try dsixda kitchen on development thread, I know it has an option to zipalign

Thanks OP for your interesting question. I did some reading and searching and used Android Tuner Free from the Play Store to zipalign. My ROM is stock 4.1.2 leak 2 and smooth running just got smoother.

Like other people, I was disappointed when I started using my HOX and the multitasking was very poor. Also, the development community is working to get S-OFF. So my question is, when we eventually get S-OFF through some hack or through kernel source from HTCDev, would we be able to fix the multitasking in sense 4 based roms? Is it kernel related? Or is it deeper then that?
Thankyou!
-Corey
By poor do you mean it is aggressive in how it manages memory. If so, CleanRom with multitasking Mod 2 will help.

Yeah that is what I meant, its so aggressive for every app. Thank-you I will try the mod. Is it in his clean mod add on? And someone from ky! Even better
Multitasking mod 2 works well for me! You can try it out on virtually any Rom I'm sure.
I'm using it on Nocturnal's Senseless ROM. =)

I didn't notice much of a difference with multitasking mod 2 on cleanrom.
Caulkin has a beta rom with multitasking fixed. pretty sure it wont be long until all the roms use this... thats if he releases his mod. Give it a few more days

I have one hell of an update for this this first release was just to get it out but now I'm gonna work some shark magic and make it more interesting so stay tuned.

This looks very interesting to me. I came to Android from the Palm Pre. So that WebOS style looks very intriguing. So what all will be in the update? I am going to wait to flash this until you get the update out and then go from there. It looks very awesome.
I suggest trying it now just to see if you like it.
The update will consist of a new pure aosp base, many tweaks like init.d and build prop, ram and sd tweaks, beats audio and more....
But I will probably be updating this sometime Monday-Thursday as I have off from work those days.

Correct me if I'm wrong sniper, but don't you need the app AND the libs? The zip you just posted I thought was libs only? Don't you needs Awesome's manager to use?

So flash this and also leave the awesome beats one i have on the phone now?
Sorry in advance if this has been addressed, I have searched and found nothing. Is there a debloated, zip aligned, deoxed stock ROM available. I read the Stock ROM thread, but it appears (since the author was a little opaque) that this is a locked, unrooted, stock image, which is precisely what I am not looking for.
I have the Nexus 7 and thing JB is great but am fairly happy with the stock build on the S3, would just like to get the junk off it, and hopefully get better performance, better battery life.
Try this, but I don't think it's debloated much
I think this may be the ROM you're looking for

Could be doesnt understand the difference between odex and deodexe and the fact that cleanrom does give him what he wants unless he wants to theme it himself.

nosympathy, understand basics of odex vs deodexe, in the end chose your ROM simply because it was expedient. May play with CR next week, or wait for the TM JB ROM to get cleaned up.
Thanks for the response!
Note: Coming from VZW thunderbolt, which was rooted and running BAMF in the end (only ROM with outlook tasks native support). The complexity of rooting/unlocking/custom ROM installation has gotten far more complex. WTF is Odin???? LOL. Anyhow it is going to take some time for uses of different platforms to get up to speed on the new technology. Please be patient with us...
Hi,
I'm running the blk3 stock rooted De odexed rom found in the thread initiated by beans town.
Is there any material difference between that, and the stock factory image found in openyoureyes' thread?
Thanks

The stock factory image from openyoureyes' thread is Odexed, while the one you are running is De-Odexed. The difference is that the Odex version is slightly faster, but most themes and customizations require De-Odexed builds.

Thank you for the reply. Is there a material difference as far as performance from the odexed and deodexed versions?
The reason I ask is I am somewhat happy with the setup I currently have. However if there is a big difference as far as performance I will go through and get the odexed version on my phone via Odin.
Thanks

On older phones, the performance difference was definitely noticeable between Odex and De-Odex ROMS. The Galaxy S3 has so much power though, that the difference seems to be pretty negligible. Technically speaking, the Odex version is faster. Practically speaking, they're both so fast you can't tell the difference.
I've been running De-Odex now for months and haven't looked back. This phone is just plain fast.
Welcome to stock kanged thread!! I'm in no way a developer nor anything related. I just used some handy tools found on XDA to bake myself a ROM using the ham burger helper via a kitchen! Please bare with me as I'm interested in learning about android devings but it will take time.
If you are looking for something heavy with mods and themes this isn't for you. This is just for the folks looking for a stock like based experienced with a minor changes.

OK, let's start this again
I will list a few of the high points mentioned in the cleaned posts as there were some good points made
Everyone has to start somewhere. My first ROM was just an ADB /pull of my existing setup and thrown into a flashable.
From there this awesome community taught me how to do so much more.
If you want to stick in this thread and help with growth and contribute to the community please do and thank you
If you want to trash someone for trying and tear down the attempt please ignore this thread and move on
