Hi people,
Got a pesky problem here. At home i use a normal connection that uses always the same protection, resulting in instant connection. At work i use wifi connection that connects by a random login and password on browser, the problem is that it goes down if the wifi connection is not being used. Ex. streaming media, play online games, it works well, but if pausing, it will re-ask for login.
Is there a workaround for this?

Find some app on market that will ping router or google.com every 30 sec. That should keep wifi alive and connected all the time.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a search and found nothing.
I can connect with my Gtablet at home to my wireless system with no problem. Anytime I travel and take the device I cannot get connected to the hotel wireless.
Any ideas.
Thanks.

I am having the same problem with TNT Lite. Connect-Disconnect-Connect-Disconnect. At home I forced it to use a fixed ip address and that seemed to help but still my connectivity is spotty. I have found that there seems to be some issue with a Tegra driver but how to fix it remains unknown. I would guess that the developer of the ROM< would have to patch it but I'm kind of new to this stuff. Hopefully someone that knows how to fix the wireless will read this and post an answer.
Did you use the browser?
You may have tried this but often public wifis/hotels have an acknowledgement screen that comes up in a web browser before you can use the wifi. Once their terms and conditions are accepted, then you can use the wifi for any other purposes (including browsers). I have several browsers loaded and Ihave found that sometimes I need to try several before getting to the proper screen and get wifi access. Other than that, I have had no real issues connecting to wifi outside of my home (other than not knowing the password that is).
Which browsers do you have loaded, and which on gives you the best result for connection?

Oh just about all of them loaded: Stock (Vegan Tab b5.1.1), Skyfire, Dolphin, Opera Mini, Miren. I find that I end up using Skyfire perhaps the most but it will really depend on the website. My son is a DJ at his college radio station and they transmit in swf format. Only one of the browsers will play the stream (I think it is Skyfire). I just keep plugging away until one works or I get frustrated and give up. I generally try and not do the mobile browsing if the browser has an option for desktop setting.
Hope that helps somewhat.
More wireless data
I am testing in two spots. At home, my netgear router using wpa/wpa2 psk and it has been wonky. Using a fixed ip seemed to help but still it would go intermittent. At work, also a netgear with wpa/wpa2 psk and it just connects and disconnects. In both instances, I am within ten feet of the router and I absolutely know the key. Curiously, at work in another part of the building is a restaurant with an open wifi and it connects right up to that without an issue. My guess is that it has something to do with the WPA encryption but what? Any thoughts or experiments to try?
Does anyone know how to get Netflix to work in Canada? After the recent update the app keeps saying "your device needs to be updated to instantly stream videos" before the update it said it couldn't stream because of my region... someone please help..

There's plenty of thread that shows how to get NF working in Canada.
Use a US IP. you need to log in the first time using a Vpn from the US.
you can use one of those site that let you try before you buy. After you successfully log in and maybe even watch a little you can use your regular wifi
It's pretty simple, luckily.
1. Install the latest netflix app using market enabler or find the apk.
2. Do NOT sign in yet.
3. Set up a VPN connection under your device wireless settings. (I've used "VPN Reactor" and "Best Free VPN" and they both work). Start the VPN connection.
4. Open the app and sign in. Pick a movie and start to play it for a few seconds.
5. Then you can stop the video, disconnect the vpn, and netflix should work fine now without having to use a vpn.
Hope this helps! For some reason this works fine on my TF but wouldn't work on my Nexus S. Not sure why.
Thank you do much guys got it up and working! Your awesome!

I followed this and signed with VPN reactor but everytime I sign in on my tablet I get an error saying Server hung up and that my username and password is incorrect....even though I have double checked it and it is the correct un and pswd. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Forgive my ignorance, but do you set up the VPN on the tablet itself? When you say "set up a VPN on your wireless device" are you meaning on the tablet, another computer (like a laptop or desktop) or the router itself?
I may be completely wrong here, (I've never used a VPN in my life) but as I understand it, I'm supposed to set up a VPN on my computer, then log into that VPN using the VPN app on my transformer, and connect remotely to get netflix to work?
Thanks in advance for clarification!

Just add a vpn connection under "Wireless & Networks" on your transformer.

Is there anyway that I can read Wired while I have no Internet? I figured I would have been able to use the Fire on my last plane trip to read it. I downloaded the issues and then when I went to open the app on the plane, FC every time. The second I got it on the WiFi in the hotel it started working fine. Turn off WiFi, FC.
Any ideas? Are other people experiencing this? I'm running gedeROM 1.7 at the moment.

Does someone with a stock KF have Wired that can test this out? I'm curious if it has something to do with the ROM for some reason or if it is universal.
Thanks
Unfortunately (tragically) Amazon has a lot of apps, including games, that won't work unless you are connected to WiFi. I have no idea why they do that but it is really maddening. For some reason they want you streaming rather than using local memory.

It seems nuts that something like a magazine would need an Internet connection to use. What is the point in downloading it then to memory if I am connected to WiFi? I would just open it up and read it at that point...
Apparently it doesn't work with JB at all as far as I can tell. No modded hosts file or anything, just a FC.
A510 connected to router, can easily access files stored on lan, but I can't open any webpage ("Webpage not available", same with gmail or facebook). If I conect my HTC Desire over wi-fi to the same network, internet surfing works without any problem. I also tried connect to other network, turn off - on tablet but nothing new.
I am sure that yesterday it worked ok, but after that was only using lan connection.
Last night I have rooted tablet (using simple method), installed SuperUser, then TitaniumBackup, Asphalt, GTA3 and Kineticalc (from mobilism) and at the end tried to use cifmanager (without any success). I do not know if anything there make something wrong.
What to do?

Now I made reset under settings and at first boot it asks to sign in to google but I can not do that since network connection is still not working
Ive tried a few apps that didnt connect properly after bieng on another network for some time, particularly apps that needed authentication like Dropsync, and I sorted it by having my tablet connect to the internet through my mobile data connection. I dont know if your HTC Desire has that, but on my Sensation I just started mobile data and wifi hotspot, connected my Tab to it and was able to get online with any app on the tab. When switching back the Tab to my home wifi, everything worked as it should.
Might be a dns reset issue, that the Tab is forced to do on connecting to another network, it has to, but I cant say for sure that this trick will help you..
Sincerely
Omnius

- TF101 can connect to my Home wifi easily and browse.
- TF101 can also connect to my phone, via wifi tether, and browse.
But today I was at two different free wifi hotspot locations, and it would Connect, but the wifi signal would still be grey, not blue, and not let me browse. (one of them was starbucks).
I'm I missing something basic?
thanks.
Thinking more about this...when I've previously used a Windows Laptop to join hotspots...when you first launch a browser it takes you to some hotspot webpage which you usually have to hit "connect" for whatever reason.
At the two locations I was at yesterday, my TF101 browser didn't redirect, so i could not accept whatever it was I was probably supposed to click on.
My next outing, I will see if another browser on the TF101 does, or if "requesting desktop site" and refreshing works.
I've not had this issue with chrome, but with default browser a couple times, I think it's just a browser issue.
