[Q] Can I flash the tf700 kernels available in the CleanRom aroma installer? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, sorry to put it in general but I wasn't allowed to ask in the dev thread due to needing 10 posts.
So my question is: Can I flash the tf700 kernels that are available when I install CleanRom via TWRP?
There are a lot of different kernels in there and a few are prefixed tf700 and some tf300.
I didn't dare to flash a tf700 kernel on my tf300 but instead went with one prefixed tf300.
So can I flash them on my system without any harm or am I forced to only use the tf300 kernels?
This is for the old cleanrom 4.1.1 btw, haven't tried the 4.2 one yet.

It works on 4.1.1 cleamROM (3.x), but your camera may not work properly with the tf700 kernel. I tried it once or twice, but honestly, with the newer tf300 kernels, I don't see any reason to use a tf700 kernel.

Ah, ok. Then I'll stick to the tf300. Thanks for the help.

They will generally work on the TF300 with 4.1.1. but as said the front facing camera will be dark. Other than that they are pretty quick

[Q]How to restock Asus tf101

I rooted my tf101 9.2.1.17-20120312 with viperMod. Then installed recovery installer and can now access recovery. I want to try some custom roms but I want to know how i can restore my tab in case i don't like the rom or something goes wrong during flash.
I downloaded US_epaduser9.2.1.17UpdateLauncher.zip from asus site since my tab seems to be running Us version of rom. My question is is this zip recovery flashable? Or is there some other way I can restock?
I should mention i got my tab in mint condition but without original case so i don't know what serial number it has. I've attacked a photo with what it says on the box.
Any help would be apreciated. I don't want to end up with a shiny new brick.
According to the box, your serial is BC0, which means its an SBK2 device. So you cant use NVFlash.
Its not much of a big deal as long as you dont **** up the recovery and the android OS at the same time.
As far as restoring... Just take a backup of your current rom in CWM before flashing anything new.
And I suggest you skip ASUS's builds. Just grab a custom rom instead, they are 100 times better in all areas.
Thanks for the quick reply. I saw there are plenty of custom roms for the tf101. Which one is the more stable? I used aokp for a galaxy tab 7 i owned until recently but it wasn't quite suited for daily use.
Hi Saav,
I can also recommend this to read:

I like the revolver rom of gnufabio 4.0.0. It is still in beta but works really wel for me.
And Goatshocker is correct, the serial number is for SBK2, so nvflash is not an option for you.

They hold a generally equal stability. What matters is the kernel youre using. guevenors kernel is aparantly very stable. I dont know myself, Im running the kernel included in EOS build 19 still, which is stable for me.
I suggest you try out the roms for yourself and pick the one you like best

Yes if you want to go back to stock, just flash the official firmware from Asus in recovery.

[Q] KT747 Kernel Question

Hi everyone,
Quick question. I've been searching the forums and dev section for a while now, and couldn't find a concrete answer, so I made an account to simply ask. If I am on the Verizon OTA JB update, 4.1.1, rooted with an unlocked bootloader, can I flash the KT747 Kernel without any adverse impacts? I am looking to keep my rom stock for usability (I used to flash all the time on my Droid X and stability issues were problems), but would like to increase performance via a modded kernel. I am just wanting to make sure, since the dev section says I need either JB AOSP or TW. I assume my stock OTA JB is TW?
Sorry for any naive questions. Thanks in advance!

Yes you can with custom recovery.
Ya you want the touchwiz kernel, here is the link http://www.mediafire.com/?ixn5n9xjnwbve8r
Thanks guys!
I flashed it and everything seems to be running perfectly fine. I will give it some time until I form an opinion, but I hope I can get the results that many others are reporting.

[Q] what to choose? kitkat rom

Hi
I am new in this forum so bare with me I have had the Asua transtormer infinity tf700t since it came out in 2012. It ia 100% stock with the android 4.2.1 intalled. I dont think i runs as well as it had done running on the earlier android versions. I just got a hold on a Asus nexus 7, also 100% stock on android 4.4.2, whch runs much better. I know that the nexux diveces are running smooth, but i think that a transformer tf700t can run much better then it does now. I am thinking about trying a costum rom wich i think will run much better. But I am not sure if there is a very good rom out there yet. Is there a rom where everything is working fot the tf700t like bluetooth, wifi, sound, camera, mic and alle the other stuff??? It is also very importent for me that the dock is working like it should and the usr of a external sd card in both the tablet itselve and the dock!
The only reson that I consider using another rom is that I dont think it is running as it could. I have tried doing a factory reset mant times...
Is there a good rom outthere yet or should I wait???? Which one should I use if there are a good one?????
PS I am not an advanced user, but I doo know how to use a computer and follow a guide Apparently I am not that good at English eighter...

I'm pretty sure once you run a custom rom you are going to kick yourself you waited this long
A ROM for "everything works like stock including all dock functions only much, much better": CROMi-X 5.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425383
A KitKat ROM: CM11
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957660
CyanogenMod ROMs are developed from the ground up and then forked for specific devices. Since they don't use Asus firmware they have to use generic drivers for keyboard etc. Expect some bugs but most things work. Check their thread for current issues
Another KitKat ROM: CROMBi-KK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672751
Two weeks young, a hybrid of CROMi-X and CM11 on CM11 base. It's still in beta, so there are bugs
For your first custom rom I would recommend CROMi-X. Read the OP of it's thread very carefully and then browse through it. To read it all you need to take a few days off
And finally here are some instructions how to flash them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2688891

[Q] Kernel/Rom Compatibility

Hello XDA Friends,
First, some background on my question. My last device had a locked bootloader, so I could flash roms and could even get recovery, but I could never change the kernel. Thus, I never learned about custom kernels. Today, however, I have a Asus Transformer Infinity with an unlocked bootloader and a Cyanogenmod 11 nightly installed. There are several nice kernels I'm looking to try. My tablet also has a Tegra 3 process I'm eager to overclock, and so we arrive at my question.
Can I flash the MaxKernel, or other kernel, under Cyanogenmod without issues? I assume that my TF700T is still using the stock kernel right now, but are all kernels compatable with all roms? Also, I welcome any constructive comments, information, or external reading on kernels you you have to offer.
Thanks in advance,

You are very limited what you can flash for CM11 I'm afraid.
If you look in my crombi-kk thread I include 3 kernels in my rom (I never released them seperately) that are basically variants of the asus stock kernel with the CM11 ramdisk to make them work with CM11. They bring good improvements especially _that's kernel.
To make a kernel work with CM11 you have to take the originalkernel zimage and add the CM11 ramdisk. You also need to include the modules for wifi/bluetooth from the original kernel and then edit the init.cardhu.rc in the ramdisk to load them via the insmod command.
If that all sounds a but technical - flash my crombi-kk rom (CM11 base) and be done with it

Any high performing roms out there, or should I retire my TF300?

So my TF300 is running slower for each day. Is there any hope left?
Ive tried kat kiss and cyanogenmod different versions.
Most of the time I'm running twitch, or youtube.
I gave up browsing the web, everything is way too sluggish.
So what rom do you recommend for best performance?

I would go back to KatKiss (as it is the best ROM there is for the TF300T right now and possibly the last one of that quality as well) if I were you. You can try an app that let's you make additional Swap space whether it be a file or partition on your external SD card. I did this on my Amazon Fire 7 2015 KFFOWI, and it made a noticeable difference with a 2GB swap file. I will be trying it on the TF300T next.
Im in the same boat. I keep coming back to katkiss because it has the battery dock support. I hate not knowing how much I have left in there. Im itching to try something new and different with better speed, but so far... no luck

To my opinion the best CR is KatKiss - Nougatella by Timduru and I think I'm not alone. This rom will give your device a new life. There is a thread you may read carefully: https://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf300t/development/rom-t3453702
Please note, your Tablet must be on the latest Asus stock rom Jelly Bean 4.2. with bootloader unlocked. Custom recovery must be Kang TWRP [email protected] If it is so, please follow the install instruction in post #1 of the mentioned thread carefully step by step.

Yea I second the notion for KatKiss, it is the best one for our device right now and has great support as well. I paired the ROM with some tweaks from L Speed and it is great and very fast compared to how it was previously. Also, @timduru is an awesome dude and really cares about the users and the community so you can't go wrong using a ROM he develops.
@rjmxtech
 @ebonit
Yeah actually I already have Kat kiss nougat by that dude. Version 7.1. I used TWRP 2.8 to install ROM.
I've used loads of different roms before this one. Does it matter what boot loader I am installing rom with?
How can I make sure install is as it should be? Should partitions etc be a specific size?
Just upgraded to TWRP 3.1. Should that be an issue? Should I install ROM one again?

No, TWRP 3.1 shouldn't be an issue!
If you did follow the install instruction in post #1 carefully and did format /Data and then changed file system for Data to F2FS through Kang TWRP, you don't need to run the install process once again.
I had never enabled F2FS before. Now my tablet is working better than ever before. Thanks man!
