[Q] Xperia J ICS or JellyBean? - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

I would like to get some feedback from you guys. I have not had the opertunity to try ICS on my sons Xperia J. The second it was turned on it got upgraded to 4.1.2.
With a lot of help from this forum I downgraded to fm .75 and then flashed the rooted 4.1.2. It works fine. However... the batterylife is not all that good and I heard a lot of complains that it has to do with 4.1.2 JB.
So... what do you guys think? Regarding to smoothness, modding and all that... is ICS better than JB on our Xperia J´s?
Thanx guys!

but is not there anything like that for j rom ?
Haha buy xperia Z or made own rom. Our development is very bad, there's no a lot of roms and if they are they isnt better then stock. I like xperia j stock rom very much, cant wait for end of March when we will get official JB! I have x8 before xperia j and developers in xda x8 forum are very good,we.have official stock rom 2.1 but they made for our tiny rom with 185mb of ram(on stock kernel 175mb) fully working gb,froyo, ics and jelly bean. Im not saying that development is bad but isnt good, how i have ics vegeance 1.34 and Temple Run 2 is laggy on stock i didnt have this.problem. If i oc to 1.3ghz is game laggier then witout overclock, on all governors is the same just ib stock work perfect and yes theres no good rom, fully working for our J , anyway i'll stay on stock rom because stock sony ui is so cool and excellent!

Xperia J Jelly Bean Whats You Opinion

Xperia J Jelly Bean Discussion
Well we have jelly bean at last time for people to have there say, what they think, if there happy or dissapointed.
in my view im really dissapointed apart from the 3.4 kernel update and stock power widgets in the notification draw sony have given us nothing new at all. Google now, project butter are part of the platform and are not from sony. they have let consumers down again all this update seems like is a fixed ics rom nothing new. no updated walman, album movies, launcher or lock screen nothing. i no our devs will have no problem to fix sonys mess yet again but is not the point.
Any other opinians fellow users?
i am not dissapointed at all, phone is buttery smooth now thats all i wanted.

I am not disappointed at all. The performance is really great and better than in stock ICS but battery drain is bigger and there are only few changes like statusbar, settings.
When I updated it I was like: Um? And that's all?
Despite that I am glad that we got this update.
Btw, can we build AOSP for jlo?
I'm wondering if clean android would be better than stock

iv'e never been a fan of ASOP i always have preferred Cyanogenmod
I prefer CM / AOKP too but actually we don't have CM10 for jlo stable enough, not enough for me. I was using AOKP but since official JB came out I am on stock JB.
Do you think official JB can make CM10 fully woking on jlo?

Bravia Engine was never part of Xperia J.
I don't know how some people are not happy with the new firmware.
My opinion is that after this update the Xperia J finally feels like a real android phone from 2012 year.
Finally everything is smooth and runs like it supposed to. (on a single core CPU that is - can't ask for miracles)
I am very happy with the new update.

battery drain is the first problem i face after my XJ updated to JB
and the second is the auto sleep wifi & data connection that is so uncomfortable, already set the wifi to always on during sleep
but still its off everytime the phone was sleep
and huge lag everytime i unlock my phone after a quite long sleep
i don't see any real impact of that "project butter"
and yes XJ has limited hardware but sony still could make it better

[Q] [MIRO] Is it possible to port/make GB Rom for Miro??

How easy do you reckon it would be to create or port a GB Rom to our MIRO?
I am not a developer but I pick things up quickly. I gather, for porting you need a rom for a phone that is very very similar in hardware and spec to the miro.
I may have a go if you fine people think it is possible
its very easy....what cm version is gb? (cm9, 8, 7)?

CM7 is GB Android 2.3 I wouldnt even know where to start but I really do think it would be so popular on Miro. I think it would run way better than ICS does.
Any ideas where to start from???

tomorrow i have exams....after that i have something to do...after that i will look to port cm7 to tipo and miro (first tipo to see if it works) at which section should i post it? original development or android development (i dont know )
Sent from my Xperia Tipo using xda app-developers app
I would say original android development. That would be totally amazing. I am not a dev at all but as I said above I'm quick learner and if I could help or test in anyway just pm me
Sent from my ST23i using xda app-developers app
Im not a dev but can I ask some questions? We all know, cm7 is gb / 2.3 so the standard kernel is 2.x. Do you actually want to use cm7 2.x kernel or the original ics kernel? The hardware itself already run on 3.x kernel. If you choose 2.x, would some hardware capabilities being disabled, like it isnt there in 2.x but 3.x have it (ext4 for example). What do you say if cm7 ran on stock 3.x kernel instead? This would bring cm7 to locked bootloader too. Just a noob asking questions.
Paradox ST21i
Well I would say no. Surely it would cause hardware to not work properly.
You can't use JB for instance using ICS kernel can you? I don't know.
Bootloader is easy enough to unlock though.
I just think that ICS runs okay on the Miro but think GB would be so much smoother.
Sent from my ST23i using xda app-developers app
So no cm7 on stock ics kernel? Thats too bad for people that have unlock: no. I thought it should be easy like x8 / e16i but that phone itself ran on 2.x. Miro on gb would be faster. It would be like running xp on 8-core amd pc. Easy example is galaxy ace plus s7500. It is smoother than my custom rom tipo.
Paradox ST21i
hello guys....i ported cm7 to our tipo but it stuck at boot animation...kernel is fxp default...rom flashed successfully but i have bootloop....

no with vergeance because all cm versions need a custom fxp kernel to work for now....i think in the future we will be able to use a kernel like vergeance (i dont know it but i hope it)

I believe this is mostly because JB uses newer features and hardware specs again. I believe backward-compatibility would work easier than forward one. Therefore I agree with zzztidurvirus.
Also I doubt if it would be 'so much smoother'...
Regards, Drago
Well it is possible... but you would need to compile it from source not port it. It doesn't work like that. And second, by the time you make a stable release, fxp will probably have an even more stable release of jb.
CyanogenMod lover. Miro user. Help via PMs.

Still no JB for GT-P6211 yet, do GT-P6210 instead ?

I'm still waiting for the release of JB for my GT-P6211.
Am a bit hesitant to install JB for GT-P6210.
Is is really worth the risk to install JB, is it really a significant improvement compared to ICS ??
THANKS,
V.
Well, at least you have a hope for upgrade. My t869 will not get one( thank you tmob). None the CM roms are fully functional - so far.
I guess there is no problem. I did upgrade my Gt-p6201 with the gt-p6200 rom and no major issue so far.

How about you just port the whole stock 4.1 ROM from the J or E to the Tipo or Miro? BTW, stock JB is slow as hell.
1)i think your trying to make a stock 4.1 rom as if it was released by sony? amiright?
2)I like your idea but porting anything from stock E is a bad idea(stock E software was done by different people & things are quite difficult to port and'stuff)
3)IF you are still planning to do it choose another phone
4)doing it for the first time ? don't start with stock. custom roms should be easier..
