my fit overheat when i charge if wifi tether on
Thats normal, tethering DRAIN so much battery because data connection always on and connected also you charge your phone. Thats can make your phone really hot. Try to little underlock your phone if you use custom kernel or rom.

have you edit the CPU settings on system control or something like that ??

i have a nexus s, 4.1.1, original clean update from google.
the phone is getting very hot while using it.
for example when i use internet radio with the screen off its gets very hot,
when i have a call for more than a few minutes with the screen off its hot too.
it's not the problem since i upgraded for jellybean, but it was a problem since gingerbread
so not JB's causing it.
any thoughts?
I normally have this problem with certain kernels. If you are rooted try thamulus kernel as I have no issues with heat.

Mine is getting hot too since I use facebook for a while (30min) or just searching Internet around. In my case I'm using custom Kernel without OC.
try to change the kernel
here is the latest AIR kernel download link

How is the battery consumption with the excess heat?

Check your battery, I am a certified Service and Repair tech and if the battery is shorted, it will generate a ton of heat. Pull your battery and if it is bloated even the slightest, replace it. Unfortunately you could smoke your phone running it too hot.
Also, are you running any custom UV or anything? All devices handle voltage changes differently and if the kernel you are using has custom voltage settings you could be running into an issue there as well.
Hope this helps.
checked the battery, looks like new.

When using your phone, it might get hot. The cpu, screen, wifi, gps, bluetooth generate heat when you use them so there is not necessarily a problem with your phone/battery.
However, if there's a problem with your battery you should replace it because it could damage your phone. I suggest that you download an app that tells battery info (temperature) and post them

try to do a factory reset and check. random issues like this do happen. when it does, just switch off and switch back on. however, if it happens too often, then u need to check the overclock, undervolt, kernel and rom combinations.
please click on thanks if you think I helped.

i have the same problem here
i tried to change the kernel but no luck
i even changed the whole rom but still the problem
help me plz
we neeeeed helppppppp come on guys did ur optimus become hot ? how much it takes optimus to drain battery in hd games ?
Is a problem of all Lg Optimus 3D...i resolved partially the issue with ICS and custom kernels...
the problem with ported ics rom for Optimus 3D
how did you solve it?
I'm on Acura v3.1 rom now, and with acura's v4 advanced kernel, i have no excessive temperature or excessive drain battery issues.
With moderate use battery lasts sometimes 2 days, with more intensive use it lasts at least 1 day.
I've been with Bluekernel too, and had no problems whatsoever.
With Acura's kernel my CPU runs at 56-1008 MHz, with Bluekernel I use 196-1008 MHz.
Aren't you guys using excessive overclock?

well you can try another kernel...for me the best with battery is iodak's kernel...there are a lot of custom kernel for ICS(Pesach, samno, iBluemind, Acura), with LG kernel for me there wasn't overheat problem...but stock kernel sucks with memory management..
ma phone dnt go hot all time but when i plug it to ma pc it heat up and aftr playn hard games is that normal it heat up when u flash it in download mode or plug it in usb ?

Hi,
My explorer has some kind of heating problem.Well its summer now and weather is very hot in asia okay...... But usually when browsing(opera mini) video playback or gaming(medium) the temp remains in 40s C.Its okay it remain below 45C.But when I make a hotspot and use my phone internet on pc with wifi. The temp goes up to 52C! which is really hot.So i guesd I should not use it like that cuz such a temp can damage the battery? multi-tasking also rise the temp.So does the explorer really has such problems? or its just me?

So I guess HTC phones usually heat too much.......
Everybody have this, but here question is: Battery getting hot, or the phone, if it's battery, it's not a biggie, if it's the phone, there may be something wrong with yours. When I use it like you, back metal thingy is getting hot but that's not so scary.
re
Well, if the temp goes above 50C, battery stops charging. The dangerous temp for battery is 60C(written on battery). While my one went up to 52C yet.
However, I noticed that the front part of phone also becomes hot.Even the screen becomes hot.It is then when battery is @50C+.
Well, sharing my experience....after listening songs and playing games i.e. continuously using explorer for 2-3 hrs..my temperature reaches to 44-46 deg F. dats max. screen doesn't burn, only the backcover feels hot.
-using stock rom.
overheating
as in my case i when i swiched over to a class 10 memory card my problem was solved
but when i installed sd boost app the problem started again .. unistalled  no much difference in performance ..
Temp. of 52 C is normal for phone,
HTC's Innovation Wins again by providing a Heat Sink at the back panel of our Little pico which really looks premium and maintains the temp. of Internal hardware...
Don't worry, just try to keep it cool in this hot season by sacrificing the overload on processor (Dont multitask !!!)
Do you have overclocked CPU? That may cause the heating. Anywhere near 40 degrees is normal in summers, where the air temperature itself is around 40 degrees. I take my phone to bed, and it usually goes very hot when it goes below the pillow, so hot that i remove the battery and keep it aside for a few minutes.
And yes, the metal on the back cover tends to get heated, nothing to worry.
I would probably quit multitasking, and get a battery saver app that will switch off components like wifi when not in use.

Even if it's overclocked,
most of the time it's working on lower speed.
I overclocked mine to 800 Mhz but it almost never run at 800, only in some games.

Few recommended tips:
1.Off your GPS, WIFI, DATA CONNECTION and BLUETOOTH when not in use. ( they are battery suckers)
2.Use original Samsung charger to charge your tab.
3.Watch your apps which consumes much processor and Ram, after that if they are not important just install them.
4.See your screen brightness, try to increase in daylight and decrease in nights.
5.Use power save option in your tab.
6.Try to charge your tab in switch off mode.
7.While charging don't do task, let it be only charge.
8. Charge only once a day completely without interrupt, rather than always keep on charging for few minutes and then few minutes and so on.. ( You will loose its original capability if you continue doing charging)
Edit: Make sure to uninstall apps which consumes more Processes.
You have to do it manually, no other Magic to keep your tab unheated. Follow above tips.
Underclock your gpu to 307Mhz or 153 mhz (through next kernel) , it will clearly reduce overheating amd battery consumption

Hello Dear XDA Users, I have been using this phone since it first came out in 2013, I only noticed this problem 2 years ago where the battery drains incredibly fast I have to charge it only 30 min after using it I also noticed that, and just after a 10min use, the area around the camera at the back becomes so hot you can't hold it (exceeds 80 degrees) I've resorted to changing the battery but it just added a new problem which is that the battery percentage when it hits 40% suddenly drops to 0%.
