Hi
These last days, and this is a joy, a few new/or not developers are beginning to create roms on ICS.
Each rom has a difference with others, and i noticed some roms has qualities that are not found on others, but need the advantages of some others.
A few users asked it before, i offer today with this thread (i hope this is not a mistake, and that it will remains clean), to vote. The target is to ask to our developers to create a sort of developing team, around a "unic" rom.
Their competences put in common should be awsome, don't you think?
If you want to help me to make this thread known by developers, do not hesitate to link it in your signature, by this way, dev in the development section could see the result of the vote, that i hope to be YES
Thx for your responses, and please take this thread clean
Want a good idea !
Google is doing this. Wait for the official release...

It is called the CM team.... facepalm
FYI, Koush is an integral member of that team (not that they have been working on ICS as a team yet)
This is a terribly biased survey. Where's the option for "No, we'd like to see a diverse selection of Roms"
With all due respect, "Nope, i prefer lot of partially working roms" is a very suggestive option, that says you're critical of the current work, or just impatient.
Seriously dude, ics JUST CAME OUT. Teams will form, and work will get done in due time.
Patience, grasshopper.
Have you no humour?
If you say no, indeed it can be for other reasons..
In fact, the target is to reach an almost stable and fully functionnal BEFORE the official release...
after this, no need to have a team, on a official base, a dev can do something good alone.
As you like to call me grasshoper, and with all the due respect , i would like to call you embittered cod-fish.
Does it fit enough to you sir?
We could possibly convince the CM team to cook CM for our device too. We need to request them in their forums.
Please add your requests to these threads.

I don't think it's gonna make much difference. None of mods/devs have ever answered to any of those threads.
I think that our guys will port it faster.

The reason is the requests are too few for anyone to notice.
The Devs wont make a ROM for just 5 or 6 people. We need to have a mass request.
Let us give it a try
You may be right, It doesn't harm to try. But I don't think creating new threads is a good idea since we already have....nine of them. Opening new threads will just make mods pissed. We need to chose the one major thread - in section Unofficial Ports (that's the place for unsupported devices), and write there.
I agree with you 100%.
But the question is, which thread do we support?
From what I've seen, the cyanogenmod team won't just take on a new phone like that. Maybe after we have a stable unofficial port, but not til then. Look at how the huawei ideos 1850 progressed, it got a lot of attention after someone ported it for themselves, and now it has official CM. keep going guys but if you really want CM then I think it's better to help get AOSP for R than to spam CM forums...

I absolutely agree, that none gets cm just like that: "-please give us cyanogen!" "-Ok here you go"
(There are already nine threads - every new user seems to want to have his own thread Even I opened one in donators lounge )
Another example. I don't remember what it was for device, but users contacted directly one of cm devs and then created a donation thread, collected money and bought him a phone. Once they got CM development started for real.
I think the max what they can do for us is welcome a new developer from us with this device and let him do CM for R :/. Thats could happen with LG GT540 and there was a veeeeeeeeeeeeery big spam about CM for it.

CM is the beast..
I guess after our device gets ICS it will step into the world of real dev'ing.
If someone has good experience with repos and AOSP + CM7 stuff please help me with my git repo here:
http://github.com/EmoBoiix3/android_device_samsung_galaxyr
Although we don't have many devs who own this device, it feels very nice that we have a couple of members who are willing to put their best efforts to port the ROM.
We could show our gratitude and support when they bring out the early builds by donating. Please show your support friends.

Must need cm7

And regarding the ICS for our phone, I can sense some delay. Samsung leaks firmwares frequently during development. Probably because they know that we guys flash it and report bugs here. It would save them time on testing.
Couple of builds have leaked for Galaxy SII.
None for ours yet. Same with Optimus 2x. The users from O2x forum say that the OEMs are waiting for NVidia to release the sources.
We can expect ICS for i9103 in Q2
^^
thats a sad bit of news
ICS
Official ICS for SGR is due Q1 of 2012. I think only after release of the official rom, devs will start working
Good news as the first Tegra 2 device running Android 4 (ICS) will be on sale starting 15 Jan. 2012.
The device is Acer Iconia Tab A200 and it will be a milestone for a ICS port for all the other devices sharing the same CPU/GPU.

What about CM?
Hello,
Is anyone still developing of the cyanogenmod for Galaxy R GT-I9103?
I'ld like to offer free allocation for your builds on cyanogenmod.su or any new domain you want!
I have over 1K users, who will be happy to test CM7 or CM9 builds, make bugreports and donate.
Maybe you know someone else who develops cyanogenmod, I'll be grateful for any response.
We have few devs that work on AOSP and CM7. Check these threads:

Yes , that's good . If someone in the CM team is good with kernels maybe they can help me
Defy-ing all limits.
Dear All,
Excuse me if I start a new thread here but it is my understanding that certain questions are not to be made in the development section.
I know much has to do with personal taste, your own experience and research, but I am coming from an HTC Aria, and I am looking for a custom ROM for my Inspire.
There are many ROM's posted that I know and appreciate have a lot of hard work and dedication from developers and unconditional testers and followers, as for instance the specific ROM thread for BinDroid's ROM itself alone has close to 900 posts, so please don't be offended by my questions, as for what I have seen and managed to read it seems to be that this might be what I am looking for:
Is this a stable ROM for daily use?
Are there any trade-off's / sacrifices (camara, video, flash, sound, buttons, gps, etc? that don't work or have limitations?)
I can understand that for many long time users and followers there can be "known issues" , but please understand that for newcommers these are not, so your kind comments will be most welcome.
I thank you all for your support and look forward to your answers and any recomendations that you may have.
Cheers!
I would say this Rom is stable for a daily use. For awhile I was running this Rom for little over 2 months. It's very clean. Its one of the handful of roms out here that works form start to finish. The support from the inspire to the desire hd threads for this is very quick if you had any issue that you may come across. I couldn't remember the last time I.had any major issue when using this. Battery life is great if you do a lot of Pandora browsing uploads like to fb etc. Works for me with my inspire. So would differently say flash this sucker.. its worth it.
If I remember right the only thing I did was a different kernel and a uv script lite other then that bad ass.

Let's first start with, welcome! Secondly, while you're correct dev threads are typically (depends on the dev team or individual developing the ROM) are reserved for development, there are Q&A's for each respective ROM that you should use to ask questions regarding a specific ROM. If everyone created a separate thread about each question they had for each ROM they use you can see how chaotic the forums would get.
The best way to figure out what "issues" a ROM has is to read some of the recent posts in both the Q&A and Dev section, you'll see there what most people are dealing with. Most ROMs here are pretty stable and I would say fine for daily use (ICS has some minor bugs due to source issues but from what I'm seeing there are a couple of somewhat stable ICS builds).Remember this is a development site, so some independent searching and reading is expected on your part.
As for Bindroid, I used it way back when they firsant started with sense 3.5 and loved it. Danny and the team are real nice guys and do great work. I would say that ROM is more then capable of being a stable, daily driver. Just remember, only you can decide what you can live with and c live without. All ROMs come with trade offs, some users don't mind them and don't even consider them trade offs or issues which is why you need to decide for yourself. Goood luck man!

PLEASE! DO A SGS+ FORUM! WE DESERVE IT!!
p.s: For this i will get an big advertisment but it's ok
AW: I guess for that we need an separate forum!
anyone should Start a Petition that we can sign and Hand over To the mods.
And op's please leave this thread in dev section althoug its not directly dev but its only about splus
We should have our own forum idd. Why? Because the i8150 even has his own forum. and we have more development then the i8150
Let's all post as much curse words as possible so we draw the attention of the mods so they will see this thread.
Okay I begin I guess....
No just kidding! You are right we need a seperate forum for our device we always argue with ppl posting **** in the wrong thread

This is true that we have more development but I don't really see why that would be a comparison.
It would be great if we had a separate forum but in the mod's and admins eyes, we are only an extension/upgrade of the i9000. I can't fathom how many times I have seen this kind of discussion in these forums and how many times the mod's just simply said "No." Well, they have made many changes recently to make sure spam stays minimal so it might be possible if we approach with the fact that having no separate forum creates an unbelievable amount of spam, which is actually pretty damn true.

Well, I think you're actually right. but it's justa pity that we don't have other forums. although it doesn't slow down the development at all! it's only increasing and increasin
But I must admit that asking a Q in the i9000 Q&A forum is just terrible. since it's so i9000 orientated.
But idd the mods just won't change it ever. period

If i9001 had a separate forum or had a dedicated section in the i8150 one we would eliminate lots of spam threads or "which ROM is better?" ones
Inviato dal mio frigo a pedali.
i don't think having a separated forum will have any use . we have 1 gb rom still active , 3 ics roms and maybe 3 or 4 jb roms . 4 kernels focused on jb , 1 on ics and 1 on jb . a separate forum for 14 topics ? the only use of a separate forum would be that modders and app devs like brood can get more organized , but brood implements everything he does into his rom forums and modders are getting fewer by the day . and our device is getting old .
probably , after the release of klp most people will move to another device and the forum will be dead . having in consideration that a phone's life is , by industry standard , 2 years ..well we're basically getting a separate forum for a few months afterwards we all would move onto a new device .
it has no use . i9001 has an amazing developing team for a niche device , but all this fuss is not worth it seeing that this is a close knitted , close to a thousand user community .

Already asked several times to our moderators. Whiskey01 answerd back that they would take it in to a count and they would let us know if any thing changed.
Sure..This will be..ahm..
Never?
R: I guess for that we need an separate forum!
No, the day after never.
Inviato dal mio frigo a pedali.
the real problem is that i9001 is seen as an upgrade of i9000, but they are really different, i discovered only few weeks ago that our Q&A section is in the i9000 one.... and i think it is nonsense, why i have to go in i9000 Q&A to make a question for i9001? it is so confusing, people risk to brick their phones by misreading i9000-i9001 (some i9000 users answer i9001 questions thinking is the same thing.... but even button combination to get in recovery is different)
It could be better if we at least we have a new separate general section :fingers-crossed:
So that development section would be spared from unnecessary threads.
Let's ask the moderator about this

I9070 has a few ROMs / kernels but it has a separated forum !!!!! I'm agree with new forum
I also agree the idea, normal S is completely different phone than our plus.
Yep we need a separate forum.
+1
s and s plus are totally diferent... only have the same appearence
There are a lot of phones out there which have way less development than our great device and have their own forum anyway. I mean come on, our great dev community managed to port kernel 3.4 - and it's as good as bugless! We have a close to beta version of CM10.1, and there are coming up new devs all the time.
Furthermore, the thing with the Q&A thread in i9000 Q&A forum is confusing as hell. Our device has f*ing nothing to do with i9000! And this is also a reason why the dev section is being spammed all the time (I gotta admit that I also once spammed because I was so confused)
So I agree, PLEASE GIVE US OUR OWN FORUM!
I know I just said a lot of things that were mentioned earlier in this thread, but I just wanted to sum it all up.
AW: I guess for that we need an separate forum!
They think that our device is just an other version of the i9000 but the i9070 is just an other version of the i9100, too and the i9070 has his own forum.
And withe an own forum we won't have so many Q/A in development died or how its called
