What happens when you try to go to recovery? Where did you get the ROM? Did you full wipe (system, data, cache)? Can you reboot into the bootloader? What is shown there?

I believe there's a fix for that over the desire hd section. Not sure about that over here. It's an issue with the rom itself.

Issue with AOKP/CM9 ROMs

I'm having a problem flashing both the AOKP (rohan - milestone 6.2) and CM9 (vinvinvinster - alpha 5) builds to my phone. I appear to be experiencing the same issue with both so I was hoping someone could help. I managed to flash both properly, but when I try to start my phone, both get hung in the boot animation forever. No restarts, just plays the boot animation on a loop. Has anyone else experienced this, or is there some way I can gather more info about what is happening? Any ideas? Thanks.

Just a few questions about your situation...
1. What carrier are you on? I just have to get this out of the way first to rule out that you don't have an international version.
2. Did you do a factory reset before flashing?
3. Bootloader unlocked? (again...this is just to rule this out)
4. What recovery are you using? CWM or TWRP?
5. Have you tried flashing any other roms? CleanROM? Nocturnal? If so, have you had any issues with those booting?

2. Did you do a factory reset before flashing? Yes. Have gone through several installs of the stock RUU in between tries.
3. Bootloader unlocked? (again...this is just to rule this out) Yep.
4. What recovery are you using? CWM or TWRP? TWRP
5. Have you tried flashing any other roms? CleanROM? Nocturnal? If so, have you had any issues with those booting? The only one I got to boot was the RebelROM Senseless one.

Darn you for not having the international version and making this super easy =P
Just for clarification...since you have to relock your bootloader to run the RUU, you are definitely unlocking again before you try flashing, right? Again, not trying to patronize, just rule stuff out.
Maybe you could pull a logcat from hboot and see if it contains any information? I'm not even sure if you can do that but maybe someone else can chime in on this.

When you go to install CM or AOKP ROM do you wipe /system before install? When I came from a Sense Based ROM I had to wipe /system before installing a AOSP ROM or it would hang at the HTC screen.
So steps should be
1: load into recovery
2: do a factory wipe and then manually wipe /system
3: Install CM or AOKP then reboot
4: after the ROM loads up reboot to recovery again and install GAPPS
This is exactly what I did when coming from CleanROM to a AOSP ROM.

[Q] Stuck on bootscreen after flashing [JB]Unoffical MIUI 2.9.14 Skyrocket[PORT]

Hello Pros! First post, semi-noob here.
I tried flashing the newest [JB][CM10Based]Unoffical MIUI 2.9.14 Skyrocket 9/14/12[PORT] today. I followed all instructions; I wiped wiped wiped, factory and Dalvik, and flashed the kernel.
But I am always stuck on the MIUI bootscreen, and can never fully load up the ROM. I've tried wiping and re-flashing several times, to no avail. I have not had any problems flashing roms before this. Any help or ideas of what causes this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Yes, I formatted both system and data. And I'm using the recovery that was recommended in the rom thread, Sk8er's Cwm v13.
Thanks for your reply!

Try reflashing. But when u get into recovery go to extras/darkside tool. And click on the super wipe(idr what's its called but there's only two options.) When that's done factory reset format data/system 3x if u want.( Couldn't hurt) then flash ROM! All should be good... if not keep this thread open. Lol and well try something else. But hopefully that works. Good luck!

Really? Damn. Are u on the latest recovery? If not try flashing the newest. Then do the steps again in my last post. Can't believe your having all these troubles!
Oh also u could try fixing permissions. After doing all the wipes and after flashing. Go to dark side tools again and do the cashe wipe! Then go back to advanced and fix permissions again.
Can you boot into recovery or not? If you can, just flash the rom. If you can't, yank the battery, replace it. Then, hold down both volume buttons, the press the power button, release all the buttons, you should be able to get into recovery.

Wow, still stuck on the boot screen even after the darkside cache wipe. I flashed CWMR Touch v6.0.1.3 by sk8erwitskil which is the newest CWM recovery as far as I believe, and the recommended recovery for this ROM. I EVEN flashed TWRP 2.2 just for the heck of it and flashed MIUI with that and still the same result; stuck on bootscreen. So I'm pretty sure it's not the recovery.
I did a darkside superwipe, and a darkside cache wipe, along with factory reset & format data/system 3x. The rom installs in recovery just fine. It's just once i reboot, i get the MIUI splash loading screen indefinitely. I'm not sure what could be causing this since I do all the important wipes (plus the darkside wipes now) each time. I think I have BAD LUCK!
You'll have to use odin, and reroot your phone.
Have you checked the MD5 of the ROM? If it's a bad DL it could flash just enough of it to loop you.

I had the same problem, but while my phone was stuck on the MIUI boot screen i pulled the batter, got into recovery again and simply did a factory data reset just once and then it booted up, but my issue is that i get no data at all no mater what version of MIUI I try to flash.

Ya I agree try downloading it again. Check the md5 and flash that ROM again. If it doesn't work your gonna have to Odin!
There were a lot of complaints of boot loops when flashing, so I pulled the DL link. I actually stopped using miui and moved back to CM or AOKP, depending on which one is most stable at the moment. Every once in a while I give miui a try, but I never stick with it. If you want miui, I suggest you follow Lithium's thread. His version is the officially supported miui rom.
I can confirm heres what i did to fix i had the boot loop.. all i did was run DARKSIDE Superwipe x2 Times. Then i installed MIUI Rom. Then i Factory Reset. Try booting wait a little bit. If still not going threw remove battery and boot to recovery and factory reset one more time then reboot. So once again.
1. DARKSIDE SUPERWIPE x2++ 2. Install MIUI Rom. 3. Factory Reset. 4. Boot. 5. (If still looping) Remove battery Then recovery. and Factory Reset and boot again. Your welcome
Can we move this to q and a?

[Q] Codename Lungo CM11, stuck at android logo first boot.

Hello,
This is my first post. I have searched throughout for an answer but nothing seems to point me in the right direction. So here it goes:
I have an HTC sensation Z710e with:
Kernel : 3.016-ga462f5f (stock)
Unlocked bootloader
CWM 5 flashed
Rooted (obvious i guess, just to be thorough )
S-OFF.
So far so good. I followed the rules/tutorials to the letter and managed to flash the Codename Lungo CM11 version on my phone. On first reboot (before going for the GAPPS as instructed ) the device passes the HTC logo and gets stuck on the android loading logo. Tried it twice with the same results, had to revert to my recovery to get back to working condition.
Is it/could be a kernel issue?
Any tips/advice would be more than welcome.
PS: I wanted to post it in the related thread but no access for me yet :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930403

Format the data partition along with system/cache and dalvic cache before flashing the ROM.
Edit: Data partition can be formatted by factory rest operation. Not sure though.

The first boot always takes longer as it is setting up, but no longer than ~5 minutes.
Anyway... If you've waited and it is boot looping, try these steps:
Make sure your recovery is up to date.
Wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache.
Flash ROM, gapps, and any addons
Wipe cache and dalvik
Reboot. After first reboot is complete and on setup screen, wait 5 minutes and reboot into recovery.
Wipe cache and dalvik again. Reboot
This reboot could also take ~5 minutes, but the others shouldn't as long as you don't wipe cache and dalvik.
You should see an "Android is Upgrading" screen. After this is done, complete setup and you should be good to go.

Back to stock rom for now, prepare (charge until full).
Re-root, then reboot to recovery to try again flashing the rom.
Always format /system, /cache, /data/media first when installing different roms. Good luck

Stock rom is working fine? Is root working on stock?
Did you get any errors while flashing costom roms?
I remember a folk here got a same problem as you, and i think it's not resolved yet..
Maybe you and him have a "special" devices.
Don't worry, it's not a problem with your ext-sd because i use it all the time. and if it was ext-sd problem, you'll get an error while flashing.
I suggest messages devs in developement section, maybe they can figure out what is wrong.
And of course i think it's not safe to restore others nandroid backup, so don't mind find it.
God speed, wish I can help you more

Like I said earlier, you should have flashing stock rom first to remove root via odin/hemidall.. you can find it at sammobile, com
then re-root with link i gave earlier again via odin/hemidall, and format in recovery like i said earlier. no wonder you still fail..
you should have philz touch recovery instead cwm if you succeed.

You dirty flashed it over CM11? You didn't wipe system, data, cache and dalvik? I always do that, even when I'm flashing an AOSP-based ROM over another AOSP-based ROM.
The only time I won't do this is if I'm flashing say CM11 over CM11.
If you dirty flashed, that might be your problem, but I don't know for sure as I don't use PacMan ROM.
I didn't dirty flash. Cm11 was on there before. I used philz wipe forfor new rom like I always do.
I can get into the fastboot menu. Is there something I can do there to reflash cm11?

Not sure then. I always use TWRP to wipe and flash. Could be an issue with the ROM itself or you got a bad download. You might want to try and download the ROM again to ensure it wasn't a bad download.
figured it out. must have had something happen to the recovery file.
in fast boot i flashed a new recovery image and was able to boot into recovery.
Maybe you have the JB bootloader and you flashed a KitKat bootloader based CM11 build... That could explain why your phone is not booting properly.
If nothing works you just can flash a STOCK FIRMWARE to begin again.
The phone has stock kitkat. How can I confirm?

That's a no-go. You won't be able to flash a KK-based ROM on a system with a JB Bootloader. The device will abort the installation immediately with a friendly reminder. At least the XT926. Been there, tried that.
^ agree. My atrix HD has a jbbl and I can Confirm this
