Infrared. - Galaxy S 4 General

Finally getting this feature back. I miss the days when I was in school with my pocket PC. I was constantly messing with the teachers by turning off/on the TV and changing channels. I also used to jack with friends by copying the ir in their garage remote and open and close their garage. Anybody else happy to see this return?

Yes! I was so disappointed when ir was removed from devices. I understand there are better alternatives for most thing you use it for, but its like everyone completely forgot about the ir being used as a remote control. Whoever realized this and put it back in phones God bless them.

I'm so happy about this, too!
are there any apps that can take more advantage of this?
or does the stock S4 app really handle everything?

There will be plenty of solid apps, count on it.

I use touchsquide remote app on my Nexus 7 working with an IR blaster for devices hidden in a cabinet.
Having this on the S4 will be great :good:

IR!! Finally!

So I presume there'll be an app that will allow me to control my LG and Samsung TV, even though these are not Smart TVs?

U have to set it up like a universal remote

AW: Infrared.
When I was a kid, I had a watch with IR, and I was switching off every TV I came across.

I'm sure there will be an automatically program function where u point it at the TV or take the TV remote and point at the phone. Back in the day on my ppc all I had to was point the remote or the garage door opener to the device and it was ready to go

You'll have the option to select the TV's make and model from a list and it will auto tune the frequency for you. It will work with all kinds of TV's smart, dumb, HD, 4:3, etc... Can't wait for this one!
Hopefully cable providers will take advantage of this and offer apps that can control the cable box as well.

[Q] First mobile 3D Scanner for Android

Hi,
I've developed a mobile 3D scanner app for Android and could use some exposure and feedback.
This is my first Android app release and since I'm a single developer I still need some more experience in regard to the huge variety of different phones (and problems that come with such variety).
So, I'd be very happy for either buying the app ( ) or some general advices and feedback.
Thanks in advance
testing... just use this app. lol

This sounds good and i am definitely gonna try it. something new out here.

I just came across this. I'm doing a research project and am in need of a really basic cheap 3D scanner. Has this been updated at all in the past year? The app on the Play store shows the last update as Sept 2011. Did you just stop work on this all together? Are there any alternatives that will give me an .STL file?

Vehicle inspection app needed

I am looking for an app that i can use to do vehicle inspections, i am in charge of inspecting all the used cars that my dealer group buys and right now i am just doing it the old fashioned way i would like it to be a full blown software that will allow me to input pictures and then make a final report that i can email to the next person.
i have found a few things but no luck
i like this but the company has yet to get back to me
www.inspect2go.com/inspection/vehicle/
how hard would this be?
can anyone help?
thanks
matt
can anyone help out or direct me in a way?
I don't think you will find such an app in the market at the moment i'd suggest to use oldschool methods but i do know there is a few app to test torque and such

I think this is a great idea more generally. If there's a developer out there I think automotive support apps would be tremendously useful for a lot of people. I would pay for something that let me keep track of what maintenance I need to do and how to do it.
I was considering developing on MiUI styled messaging application for non MiUI roms. But at heart I am a data driven developer. If you want, contact me by inbox and we can see if this is possible and how easy it would be to implement. Obviously the clearer the specs, the easier it is to get started on a project like this

Perhaps he wants free online and a better multimedia console. Perhaps he is intelligent and realizes the added cost of the PS3 is more worth it because you end up paying more for x box live and you get more in a PS3. Perhaps he likes to customize his device instead of being anal about how smooth the settings menu is. Perhaps it takes more to fulfill him than a bunch of tiles thought up by a microsoft employee's small child.

Or perhaps he likes speed, fluidity, and doesn't have to make it out as though icons are something profound opposed to tiles. I don't have to make excuses, my OS fulfills his need, yours does not. That answers the thread.

And what if he has a PS3? Then your idea is pointless.
Edit: and android has widgets, not sure where you got the idea that icons were the best we had.

You seriously love anything from microsoft. I sometimes wonder if your bill gates
But no all your post does is say an xbox is better (I have had both and if you use a platform specific game rather than a ported one ps3 easily beats xbox 360). The answer to his question is to use a media streaming app.

MirrorOP app

Guys and Gals of XDA, I think I've found the Holy Grail for the Xperia Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.awindinc.sphone2tv&hl=en
A little app called MirrorOP Sender. Fully functional Android display mirror to PC and it runs fairly well.
Just played the first level of Super Mario Bros with only 1 death...Streamed from my Play to my PC connected to my TV through HDMI
All you need is the MirrorOP Receiver for the PC and you're good to go:
http://www.mirrorop.com/product_Windows_Receiver.html
The sender app is only a trial but it's worth a test. I'm not sure if the framerate is connected to how good your internet connection is. My internet isn't that good and it displays fine (portrait and landscape) but from some American speedtests I've seen maybe some of the Americans in here might have better results
Going to give ago. If works, extremely good find
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
Not bad, not bad at all! Excellent find!
Just found out you can also do it the opposite way as well if you get the MirrorOP receiver for your Play and Sender for PC
Runs brilliantly and means I can still access my desktop from the comfort of the toilet
Root only.

lags, dont know why

Not worth paying for yet as just to slow for games. Can test out first as the apps are free for demo time. But this does have lots of potential in the long run. Still early days yet but if see how good splashtop is, this app good just be as good and fast with some more work done to it.

photoshop is a great app but the problem is that that for most basic users it does not have all the features or its very difficult to acess or too cumbersome
I use photo editor.. Good, fast and have plenty of features for quick edit
Other one i use is picsay pro photo editor which was free from amazon app store sometime ago...
There are many others too.. You can try a few and see what fits u the best .

I guess im looking more for a drawing app than a full blown editor.
Lets say I have a pic of a cat and I want to doodle a top hat on its head. With PS Touch its buried under a whole bunch of crap. With paint, I just start doodling.
I'll just have to google around. Or bust out the SDK and code something but I have other projects im working on right now. Moving, work, etc.

I totally agree. Especially for the tasks mentioned by the OP.
Actually I use ps touch a lot more than desktop applications now, because it is so simple to use, and the s pen gives you better feeling and accuracy.
Get PhotoDesk... open a pic, click edit and start doodling,.... plus it's got a bunch of built clip art and stuff
I think it's exactly whst you're looking for... really easy and it organizes your photos really well too...
