What'sapp restore woes msgstore.db.crypt is damaged. - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I had the Whatsapp folder on SD with msgstore.db.crypt, Whatsapp even recognizes it but when it restores from it, Nothing.
I tried this tool. But it says there's problem in the file.
Thankfully, I had a CWM backup from my prev. phone (GSIII) So I managed to get the 'msgstore.db' file from "Data/Com.whatsapp..." folder
Which is the decrypted version of the same file which seems to be in proper shape. So I wanted to know how can I turn it into a 'msgstore.db.crypt' So I can restore it back. (I have a new phone not yet rooted). Thanks.

Please delete this!
Just pasted the 'msgstore.db from CWM to databases folder in SD and deleted all old files!
RESTORE SUCCESSFUL!

[MOD] 13 Toggle quick panel

Just wanted to confirm that the mod for the 14 and 12 toggle quick panels found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295965
work for the skyrocket. Just follow the instructions for rooted stock odexed ROMS.
Thanks! Just did this and everything seems to work fine.
Note that this also replaces AT&T's 4G icon with LTE and up/down arrows in the status bar.
Worked fine. Kept getting a FC though upon replacing the systemui file so I'd recommend people do that last and then quickly rename the .odex file and reboot. Either way, upon reboot all was good.
Sucess! Nice!
Need some help here, did you guys flash the mods via ,cwm, then you used root explorer to move the files? Or you just moved the files and renamed them and rebooted? Thanks in advanced...

Just extract the files and move them to the appropriate folders with root explorer, then reboot. No CWM needed

Hopefully it replaces it with another LTE icon and not a 3.5G one?
Just to report on my findings...
The mod worked well but I did find one discrepancy. When connecting a USB cable to the device and choosing "USB mass storage" the Green Droid that's usually there now is not there. It just says "Connect USB storage" in gray and underneath that it says "Set" in white. This "Set" dialogue is just that and not a button.
Can anyone else confirm this same result? Or did I do something wrong?
---------- Post added at 05:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:03 PM ----------
Tried to push the files again... same result. Not a huge deal but really wondering if anyone is experiencing this. I'm on rooted stock.
Anyone? Or else how can I go back to stock?
Hm, you're right. I didn't notice this because I haven't connected it to the computer since I applied it. It seems that this disables all USB connections to your computer accept for allowing you to access the internal and external sd cards. This also seems to only do this in USB debug mode. Taking it out of USB debug mode will only let it charge when plugged into the computer.
Did you backup the files that the new ones replaced? Just take out the new files and put the old files back and reboot.

It replaces it with LTE and it also switches to H+ when you have 3.5G signal only.
Nandroid backups are your friend friend
I renamed the file as specified in the directions but I did not back it up. I renamed systemui.odex to systemui.odex.Bak. Can I use that .Bak file? If not, would you mind attaching your backup file? I'd like to go back to the stock if possible.
ALSO... when toggling Airplane Mode I see a code at the top of the pull down menu. It says "Via %1$s". Does anyone else get the same result?
Thanks in advance. And yes I am an idiot for not backing the file up.
Yes you can rename the systemui.odex.Bak back to systemui.odex but I think you need the original systemui.apk as well.
I also get the "Via %1$s" text as well.
Would someone be kind enough to attach the original systemui.apk to this thread? I'd greatly appreciate it.
Here you go. Delete the new files you put on there, rename the systemui.odex.Bak back to systemui.odex, reboot, and you should be good to go...hopefully.
I used the "THANKS" button but I really did want to actually say thank you. It worked. There was a little drama during the process but ultimately it worked.
Just for anyone else reading this post, know that when I deleted the lidroid-res.apk (which I deleted first), process after process crashed. The phone was pretty much useless. I rebooted and then was able to rename the the systemui.odex.Bak back to systemui.odex. I pasted the SystemUI.apk, deleted the QuickPanelSettings.apk, rebooted, and now everything seems back to the way it was before the mod.
Lessons learned:
1) Don't 'just' take someone's word for it that a mod is gonna work without a little proof and research.
2) Nandroid backups ARE your friend
3) People here on xda rock.
You're welcome

If you're moving it manually you don't need to do anything with any files in the META-INF. Those are used when flashing the .zip via CWM (which doesn't work for the skyrocket). Just move over the 2-3 files, reboot, and you should be good.

You guys had the clockworkmod bootstrap installed. Uninstalling it does not restore two files that were changed in the system partition. This has been discussed many times in this forum. The bootstrapper backed them up when it changed them so you just need root (I use Root Explorer) and restore the two backed up files. Once you do that the OTA should install.
[Removing CWM Recovery]
1) Delete file /system/bin/logwrapper
2) Delete file /system/bin/hijack
3) Rename file /system/bin/logwrapper.bin to /system/bin/logwrapper
4) Delete directory /preinstall/recovery
If you had the boot into recovery hack then you need to restore this file also.
[Removing CWM on Boot]
1) Delete file /system/bin/mot_boot_mode
2) Rename file /system/bin/mot_boot_mode.bin to /system/bin/mot_boot_mode
Hello guys... I have never had clockwork mode recovery but I have some custom recovery, busy box, debloater that I have used to get Google Now on my Leaked 1 ICS Android... I receive error after rebooting and I don't know why and don't know where to find the logs... Now I uninstalled all these applications that could have caused some changes in the /sys folder and I am trying it again? What should I do?

First off check last_log in cache and look what error it is giving.try a factory reset from the recovery.if you removed bloatware to install google now that would probably do it.you gotta replace them.but first check last_log

1.root your phone
2.download es file explorer from market (free)
3.open es file explorer, enable root explorer in setting, go to cache/recovery

Simple answer, no.
You need either find and install DLNA.apk or fxz back to 2.3.6.
Sorry my question was not really understandable... The last question didn't have to do with the rest of the thread... I was asking for the backup cause I didn't want to lose them... I FXZ back at 2.3.5 and now I am at 4.0.4... I made a full backup when I was in the Leak #1... Now when I restore it back, will I have all my configurations or it is not worth it to restore it? And also will that restore the damaged file of DLNA as it was or nothing to do with that!!

You can not restore a backup from a different release, it is not wise and can cause a boot loop..... What are you worried about losing? Do you sync mail, and contacts and such? If you do you should be ok. The ONLY thing you will have to do is reinstall apps, and that is easy in the play store, just go to the my apps tab I think it is, and install all the ones you have in there that you want back on the phone. Yeah it is a PIA, to do an fxz then ota, then reinstall all your apps, but that is the price we pay for "hacking" our phones sometimes.

Try a different root browser (like root explorer) - I think ES has issues with actual root operations.
Other options might be adb or terminal emulator - but need to know a few commands for that..

did you managed to root phone?
actualy you cannot install those recovery zips because you do not have a recovery allready installed, easyest way, download rommanager from market and open it and flash clockworkmod recovery(beware what version of phone you flash, lg p500 or cwm 5.0.2.7) from it, after that you can flash any .zip files after you boot into recevery, custom roms, kernels, mods etc
I use an app from market named QuickBoot because my p500 is a little old and have some issues with hardware keys, need to push them realy hard to work
---------- Post added at 10:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:02 PM ----------
after successfull installed recovery, UNINSTALL ROMMANAGER, all you need you will do it from recovery, Rommanager is no longer needed because it doesn't work too good with p500, do not boot into recovery from it, do it manualy, do not backup rom from it, do it from recovery, Rommanager mess some things up in our phone
first thing after first boot into recovery is to backup your original rom(it will take few minutes) and after that copy that backup into your pc, you will find it in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/ folder named with date you did it (use ES file explorer)

oh, forgoted, after rooting install Superuser, Busybox and TerminalEmulator from market

TWRP puts backups in a folder corresponding to your device's serial number. Two devices, two serial numbers. Two different backup folders under /TWRP.

This is the prevent damage.
Like flashing a backup with the EFS also checked will ruin your device rendering it wifi only.

They can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8OH6sFjVE1ldGNjN29KX19zZm8
RUU_HIA_AERO_UL_M60_SENSE7GP_ATT_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.12.617.6.zip
This is an extracted zip of the latest HTC RUU.
This file will wipe everything on your phone EXCEPT External (SD) Storage
The easiest way to flash is to download the file, rename it to 2PQ9IMG.zip, copy it to your SD card, reboot to download mode and press volume up when prompted to flash
Otherwise, you can flash using htc_fastboot in RUU mode
fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip RUU_HIA_AERO_UL_M60_SENSE7GP_ATT_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.12.617.6.zip (what is htc_fastboot? it's HTC's very own fastboot utility that allows you to flash larger files than regular fastboot. where can you find it? it's not hard)
HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_SystemImageBackupAndBoot.zip
TWRP system image backup. This file will restore your system to an unmodified state and should allow you to take an OTA Update if you're rooted or otherwise modified your system partition
This is NOT a flashable zip. It is a regular old compressed zip file.
Download it to your computer, unzip it, and copy the contents to the TWRP backup directory (sdcard/TWRP/Backups/.../...) on your device.
Boot to recovery
Go to Mount Menu and set System to Read-Only
Go to Restore and find and select this backup folder
Optional - I've included the stock boot image in case you have flashed a modified boot image and want to restore this as well
HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_boot.img
stock boot image extracted from the 1.12.617.6 OTA update package
flash in download mode (fastboot flash boot HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_boot.img)
HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_recovery.img
Stock recovery for Unlocked edition (1.12.617.6)
Save this file in your fastboot folder
Boot to DOWNLOAD mode
Flash using fastboot (fastboot flash recovery HTC_A9_2PQ9IMG_1.12.617.6_Stock_recovery.img)

The system image backup. Download it to your computer, unzip it and copy the contents to the TWRP backup folder on your device
I tried to install xposed framework on my phone but it got stuck at the boot screen after installation. I copied the system image backup files into my SD card slot and booted it in recovery (TWRP). I've done everything the instruction says and i'm at the point where I've mounted the "system" folder as read-only. I go to the restore option but i don't see any files or folders to restore from. Please help... Thank you.

Did you copy my folder (2015-11-14--01-18-44_MRA58K_release-keys) into your TWRP backup directory?
Edit: if you don't have a TWRP backup directory, the easiest way to create one is to just run a backup of one of the small partitions (boot/recovery).
It worked... You're the best!!!!

Ok, maybe I'll just try it. I have nothing to lose at this point.
Thanks for the response.
Thanks a a million!! Helped me out of a pinch with mine. Mine would just reboot as soon as any app got root permissions. Restoring your system backup fixed it!
Can you upload recovery_signed.img again Thank !

Mine wasn't correct. @Captain_Throwback posted one in the root thread in the dev section last night that works.

I was able to do a backup of system_image in twrp, but now when I try to recover, I get unable to mount /system. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

That's the message when you try to restore? Did you go into the mount menu and mount system as read-only (there's a check box underneath all the partitions)?
Hello, somehow I've managed to delete my OS. I'm still unlocked and s-off but when I try to restore with your file it crashed. So I wiped everything and started over. Here's my issue now. I downloaded your file and extracted it to put onto an external sd. Once I did that I made a small backup in TRWP and moved the file to sd/TRWP but when I go to restore its blank with only the small back up showing. I can't put system to read only, it think its because I have no OS. I can click/unclick everything else just not system.

You moved the backup folder under external_sd/TWRP/YOUR_SERIAL_NUMBER/ ? That's where it has to be for TWRP to see it. And that shouldn't prevent you from being able to mount system read-only (unless you're getting an error on /system, in which case you should wipe/format it).

Each time I hit a dead end, I wipe and format. I am getting an error saying unable to mount system. I sent some info over to @jcase about my device and he said that HTC sent me an engineer firmware version. Does that make a difference at all?

I also appreciate your patience with me @Captain_Throwback. I normally don't have issues with stuff like this.

Can you upload a copy of your recovery log? And please confirm where you're putting the backup folder?
