Win 7 has no problems with the K701.
But i dont know how to root that darn thing..........................................

@Ikkuh007: Hi! I'm assuming you are Dutch and you've got your tablet at Veronica Magazine. Me too!
I have found the solution to install the driver:
I have been google-ing for a little while and I found THIS website.
1. Reboot your PC with the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"-option.
2. Download your version of the driverpack over here and install it.
After the installation you should be able to root the device one way or another. I have been trying with SuperOneClick2.3.3.0, but it's constantly failing at step 2 "Starting ADB Server...", with as report "Daemon not running. Starting it now on port 5037"
What application are you going to use for rooting?

Oké, yet an other owner....
Perhapes you can write a tutorial here......
In "jip en janneke's" would be nice hahaha

Yea ikke, but don't bother.....

A few weeks later and I still can't update this damn tablet. I hope someone else allready did it and will share it with us?

How to HARD RESET the K701
Hi there,
I bought 2 of these K701 tablet (1 for us and 1 for my parents).
And now my kids entered the wrong unlock pattern to often! I can't get in the damn thing....and wifi is off...so Android can't verify the emailadres and password. So...my question: how to hard reset it but to the factory default settings?
When I use "Volume +" and the "on/off" buttons and let go of the "on/off" button when the Empire-Electronix logo fills the screen I get a Android robot with it's belly open with "!" in a sign sticking out of it.
But I don't get to the Android boot screen!
Can someone help mee to get further??
I contacted the Empire-Electronix support and they say to send it to them.....but I don't want my parents to wait for it!
I just need to set it back to factory default so I can re-install the apps and give it back to my parents.
Thanks in advance!

Oké
I understand that you don't want your parents to wait.
So wy don't you clean your own tablet and give that one to them and sent the locked one tot the manufactorer?

????????????
Is that how you do it always? Even when it's...let's say...your car??
Why would I clean my Galaxy Tab and give it to my parents while the Empire-Electronix K701 is in repare?
I'm still using my Tab....so....why this reaction?
I'm asking a normal question and hoping someone here can help me out.

Aha....SORRY!!!!!!
Now I see what you mean! Giving the other K701 to my parents!
I could do that, but I think my kids and wife would not like that idea!
It's my wifes tablet because I already have a Galaxy Tab 7" (and no....I'm using that one for work so I can't give that one to my wife and kids)
But it's something to think about.....
Still....I would like to know how to set it back to factory default in case my wifes tablet lock's up to.

If it is for family use only,
why don't you let it "open"?
Or show the kids how to unlock it .
I locked mine, but all the familymembers know my unlockpattern.
Don't know how old your kids are, but they are quite handy with those things.
So why dont you give it a try.

My Tab is "open". I don't have any screenlock on it.....it's just that I got the Tab from my employer and have a unlock code for the simcard.
It's mine but need it for work. At the same time it's my mobile phone for work.
So I don't want my kids (age 3 and 5) on that thing playing games.
I don't mind my wife on it but during the day I'm at work / on the road. So no tablet at home for my wife.
But this "tablet-swiching" still doesn't bring me closer to the key-combination to unlock the K701.
Does anybody here know it?

I ment your k701 not your samsung.
Anyway there are two methodes.
One is through your mail ( gaymailaccount )
Second is by some hardbuttons combination.
I do believe that if you use Powerbutton / volume up is when you try to flash a firmware
And the volume down is the recovery.
When my son is back i wil ask for his tablet, he got the same one.

[Q] Help rooting S Galaxy S2 (noob)

Hi
first off, if I am braking any rules by posting this here then pls direct me to the correct forum (very sorry if its in wrong place)
anyhow, I just got a new contract with a Samsung Galaxy S2 on virgin mobile (UK) & am hoping to root it so I can "maybe" install a new rom etc but the main reason I want root is because of the bloat that came with the phone. I don't really want to damage the phone, so I wont try until I know I am confidant in doing it without killing my baby.
can anybody either tell me how search works here because I cant find any info, or failing that tell/show me the easiest safest way to gain root on my baby.
if I root will virgin be able to tell if I ever need to send it in for repairs. I've heard of yellow triangles & flash counters & USB jigs & am very, very confuzed. pls help
I believe your model is the i9100, if so follow the guide below.

You can root via kernel which is the easiest
Sent from my LG-V909 using Tapatalk
if I root using this method can Samsung find out if I have to send it back, or is my warranty null & viod if I root?. thanks
I believe any method of rooting will void your warranty, so its best to return it to stock before sending it back to Samsung.
So again ill ask, is there any way for sum one to connect to my pc & root it for me pls? I don't want ics flashing, I just want root.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
It's not that difficult, invest some time and you can do it yourself.
There are even youtube videos guiding people how to root their device.
If you have trouble or questions about a specific step ask here.
I wouldn't recommend giving a random person access to your computer via teamview...
Its usually:
- Find out what ROM version you currently have
- Look for the right kernel with root matching your ROM
- Get usb drivers for your computer
- Reboot your device in download mode
- Use Odin or Heimdall to flash the new kernel
From a quick glance, this looks pretty solid:
http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-s2-50004972/
Edit: was bored looked around some more.
So this actually is okay too:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693
And this was the one i used to root a friends sgs2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Most difficult part was actually choosing the right kernel fitting the ROM, too much choice
thanks for the info.
can you tell me exactly which unsecure firmware to go for pls?
these are my kernel version etc on my phone...

A comprehensive guide will be available if you take your time and dig the sub-forums for the S2.
hey man ,
take a look at this , it's a one click thing. super easy super safe. your warranty won't work anymore , you have to be aware of that. so here you go
(i'm a new member of xda so i'm not allowed to post links)
there is a website called galaxys2root you will find a root galaxy s2 guide .

Try SuperOneClick. It's literally 1 click to root...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
You'll need the drivers for your phone already installed (Kies installs them for you), and you'll need to kill all processes that are related to Kies. Just read what to do on the above mentioned thread and you'll be rooted in no time.

OK so I found the insecure & secure kernel for my fone (XWKI4) & I'm pretty sure cf-root is the way to go to gain root, but now I'm confused about the custom can in cf-root, I've read that in ics USB storage don't work, video record don't work etc so my question is this, should I root it at all as ics official will be out very soon & that has everything working except flash so should i wait? The 1 thing that's pushing me towards say CM9 ICS is the lack of touchwiz UI, if i choose a custom rom I get the full ICS UI experience which is what I'm after, but as this phone is very expensive I really don't like the idea of voiding my warranty 2 weeks into a 12 month contract. Suggestions welcome (& yes I've spent 6 days reading ALL sections & posts.)

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
you got it wrong man , you don't need the secure and insecure kernel anymore , look for the superonclick method. all you have to do is download a couple of stuff , plug your phone and click.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
everything works on ICS , it depends on the ROM you choose. so far the only incomplete ROM is the Cyanogenmod 9. but i'm currently on Resurrection ICS Remix v1.0 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854 )
and it runs great. it's blazing fast and super stable and everything works great. including camera and sd storage.
Cheers so if I root with SOC how do i then install Clockworkmod so i can flash ics resurection? Thanks for all the answers

Hey, I'm in the same boat. I found a blog that seems to imply that you can use cydia impactor but I was not able to get it to work. I can't post the link but its on asus-zenfonedotblogspotdotjp. The reason I'm trying to root is that my phone came with the chinese firmware preinstalled, meaning that I cannot use google sync or google play store. I want to root to flash the rom or to simply be able to install google services. Please let me know if you make any progress. good luck.

Please feel free to reply and maybe together we can make this phone great. I will monitor and update this thread with the latest news involving this device.

Everyone that's honestly willing to donate to this man ask him for help on this device he worked the galaxy avant when no one else would he's awesome! But he's busy and I'm not affiliated with him in any way other then knowing his work on the avant! So not like he's asking me to say this I just got this device I've messaged him about it and I know I'll donate if he can get it going! Ppl come on here and think these roots and rims magically appear they don't these guys take there own time to work these things and it's nice of them yes there not doing it with the promise of a pay check there doing it because they like the challenge I believe and to help ppl out the least we can do is give a donation to thank them for the time I'm not a developer I'm anyway don't know any except from here and other sites but I'm just saying we want someone to take time away from what ever else there fling to help with our phone let's make it worth it!
Get ahold of SHABBYPENGUIN he is good!
Scratch that can't be done ZTE patched the way it used to be rooted can't do it any more and good chance this phone will never see root that sucks but I opposed to donate to hey him to work on it and he says can'tbe done!

Will pay $$$ for a Grand X Max + Root!
I wish I knew how to figure out the root process for this phone, but unfortunately, I do not. However, I will also pay $10 to anyone able to figure out how to root this device. So far, that's $20 ($10 from previous poster [Muhff], $10 from me) that is offered to find a way for us ZTE users to root our phones! I'll sweeten the deal and pay $30 myself if I see a post in this thread that contains the solution before August 2015. If you know anyone on the site who may be able to figure it out, please spread the word about this. Thanks!

i believe you can do a full backup with adb/fastboot by opening cmd and saying
fastboot boot twrp.img
for example. then, you can open the backup file and find the recovery img in there as long as you still have the stock recovery.
I found it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310682
It would be very very helpful to me (and anyone with this phone) if someone with the stock recovery and fastboot + adb on their computer could upload the stock recovery image to the internet.
Im not very expert in it myself, im sure if someone with real knowledge swoops by they could do this in a second.. provided they have the phone.

Thanks for the video! It worked. I'm a happy man.
@smilesintears77
You will need to install the TWRP.apk then boot into it. Via the power and vol. up buttons at the same time or use the TWRP.apk to boot into the recovery panel. Once booted into the TWRP recovery panel you will be able to install the su file.
I am working on a stock recovery image.
I just followed your video and it worked out. no problems.

[MOD][BETA] Advanced Reboot Menu for Tab 3 10.1

Hey folks,
I tried to modify Tab 3 10.1 Wifi Frameworks to natively enable Advanced Reboot Menu
WARNING:
- This hasn't been tested => I don't own a Tab 3 10.1
- This is a very earlier build => It may simply break your tablet or may not work
- This is a ported feature from an ARM CPU to ax86 CPU => It may just freeze your tablet every reboot :silly:
Do you accept all these conditions ?
If yes
Download the file from Mega.co.nz (290Kb)
Reboot to Recovery
Flash It
Reboot,
Long press power button and see if it works.
else,
Do nothing
Tested in my tab, but when I tried to flash the zip with TWRP an error flashing occurred! So for now it's a fail. Sorry.

@ Nonta72
I know I may sound s7up1d but what is "modify Tab 3 10.1 Wifi Frameworks" to natively enable "Advanced Reboot Menu"
What is the relation of "Wifi Frameworks" with "Advanced Reboot Menu"?
I bet you that is why you do not get reply. Another approach is like a Video or Picture of what you are trying to achieve. I have the same situation on my thread. But In my case I do not have anything to show yet. I am just testing various methods and had no real results. Good luck.
Carefully read OP before asking -_-

I am sorry you feel that way. And yes I TOTALY understand, "No one who care". Just because they all are selling this TAB3 10.1 x86. No it is Not because of it. It is a nice and acceptable device. It is just because everyone sooner or latter got tire of not able to do Mods. Source is incomplete and to many proprietary drivers. SAMSUNG, INTEL & GOOGLE please read this fact and learn for the future.
I hope to see you around.

jdeocares hi I guess it is first time we chat. I do not think I was rude with him. First my English as a second language made me read wrong message. I ask my apologies to him. Then he express there is nobody left to test. I totally agree with him.
Regards this project, I do not see what he is trying to accomplish, What is this "Advanced Reboot Menu for Tab 3 10.1". I ask him for and explanation and suggested he post a more graphic method of what he is trying to accomplish.
So the only I could do was to opened the package to get a glips of his work. And found all is store in a "android.policy.jar" that I can not look at. I see his work is base in 4.4.2 KK and I have 4.2.2. So without more explanation or a reason as why I want to pass all the work to backup and install KK, I left.

Like I said I do not see a gain for me. Now without installing I look again inside your zip file. I can only imagine that you are using the wrong "update-binary", my best guess is that that one is for ARM!. Just a guest. I say this because it size is 168kb. The size of that binary usually is around 521kb!!
So try this one.
Here you have a friend. Keep the good work.
Note: Can I see the source of that "android.policy.jar".

Thank you.
You're right, I used an ARM update-binary sorry
You're also right, It's for Android 4.4.2.
About the source of the .jar files; well, I downloaded Tab 3 10.1 KK Firmware from SamMobile.com then deodexed it. Now I'm trying to mod its frameworks without even having the tab on hand!
> Note: I can try to mod JB 4.2.2 frameworks if you're interested in testing.
No problem guys It was a misunderstood, all friends.

Root !

Why is it so impossible to root the vs987 ?? Where are those Android experts ???it's been one year and me and many people stuck on the marshmallow + locked WiFi hotspot with the unlocked Verizon G5s !! Is there a hope ?

This platform was dead before it started. Sorry to say. They can't get root with a locked bootloader. Verizon won't do it.

There are many Android experts that could unlock the bootloader Right ? Is it how it works ??? If yes that means they could unlock it ..
Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
My understanding, not as a programmer by any means...is that the phone needs to have an unlocked bootloader prior to even having the ability to gain root. If the service provider (Verizon) doesn't unlock this, root cannot happen in a traditional sense. Carriers such as T-Mobile have a root for this phone as they come with unlocked bootloaders. You wont see root on the Verizon variant.

no there isnt hope unless u figure it out the "experts" have tried time and time again
the bootloaders arent locked they are signed with a very special key that would take ever computer together in the worl roughly 200000 years plus to brute force into. verizon and att are the worst
now you all know. as said before if u wanted to root you should have studied before buying a "locked" device
if u want root either get a rootable device or figure it out on your own
as with the g4 there will more than likely never be root for these "locked" devices
not being an ass just the cold hard truth

they cant unlock the bootloader or it would have been done
lgs verity key prevents this through qfused motherboards highly encrypted partitions that the bootloader verifys and if one thing is off bam lg secure boot error.
which again is basicly hardcoded into the device.
no one is going to waste their time trying a 99.9% impossible feat
The phone is just not popular enough the Verizon Galaxy S7 I believe is unlocked for the bootloader. If the phone is popular enough a developer will work on it.

You need to be on marshmallow or have anti-rollback to be 0 which <1% of ppl have. Also, it's not a complete root, so although you have root permissions, it's unstable and you have no root manager (SuperSU/Magisk/etc.)
