Enable SCH-I535 (galaxy s 3 verizon) to use 2100mhz - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi everyone, I know there is a thread already open to unlock the radio for the sch-I535:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1895684&page=30
So far nobody was able to enable the 1900 or 1700mhz
Here in Brazil Claro network uses 2100 Mhz and I would like to know if anyone was able to enable this frequency into the sch-I535
Thank
Israel Leite

I am using Claro as we speak right now. I receive HSPA+, 3g, and EDGE. How can I verify if one is 2100mHZ?

The 2100mHZ Band is unlocked out of the Box as far as i know!!

no it´s not. as you can see the 2100mhz is not enabled and there is some people trying to unlock it . It works in Brazil but some antennas don´t use only this frequency

Well, I´m with Galaxy S5 now.
I learned the lesson to only buy models with ALL frequency supported.
At the time when I was with the S3, I had a work around. There is a software called phoneinfo (really hard to find it cause they don´t have it on playstore anymore) that manually you could put it to 2100mhz, it was a pain in the ass had to change it all the time depend where you at, cause not all antenas of CLARO uses the same frequency.

Changing Radio Frequencies

I know I've asked this before but i've never got a solid answer. Can I change the Radio frequency or add it to what the phone is capable of doing so I can hook onto Telus's new HSPA network and not worry about them catching on to what i'm doing?
No, you can only use a phone on frequencies which it has hardware for. If it is not equipped for the HSPA radio frequencies...... you cannot use it.

Then explain to me this. The frequencies this phone is capable of doing according to the telus website are:
3G EVDO Rev A (800/1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA (2100 MHz)
GSM/ EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
This means my phone is capable of doing it. That means the frequency control is completely software. That being said I should be able to change it so the frequency can include the 2100 MHz as well. The only reason my phone doesn't right now is cause it's about 6 months older than the hspa network and on the CDMA system.
But if it is all software controlled I should be able to do both. Is my logic wrong on this??
Is this against the rules or something is that why people won't talk about it? Cause it's can't be impossible. If no one wants to talk about it, PM or point me in the right direction so I can know where to start looking.
The HSPA network is gsm not cdma as far as I know. So that means you would have to use a telus sim card to get that network.

well either way youd need a sim card, and youll probably have to get that from telus, so call them up and ask

T-Mobile have different UMTS frequencies (UMTS 900, UMTS 1700, UMTS 2100 instead of AT&T's UMTS 850, UMTS 1900), therefore only edge will work.

Hi,
I recently unlocked this phone and have been using it on Tmobile. My data is EDGE only and its frustrating. Yesterday, however, I left Brooklyn, where I live, for Great Adventures in New Jersey. As we were approaching the theme park my signal changed from EDGE to H+ and stayed that way for 10 hours. It returned to EDGE when we left the park. So, its possible to get more than EDGE if there's a concentration of mobile towers, which is what I am assuming happened.

No. What matters is frequency used by T-Mobile. Currently they are in the process of refarming their 1900mhz to 3g. Their is no way of knowing where they are testing and or activating the 1900 band. The only known place was in the bay area during the last apple event. You must have a found a spot. Its one of those you have to wait for tmo to reach your area

edge is really slow. it slower then 3g. why do you use an AT&T phone on t-mobile. is it the prepaid plan. if so their are a few prepaid that run on att network. If you went att prepaid you would get 3g minium if not more. i'm using a company called red pocket mobile. its not bad but it 55.00 a month i get unlimited talk text and 1gb of data. might wanna look into it. hope it helps.

Nexus S aren't locked to any carrier. They are however frequency restricted, depending on the model (tri-band, unlike Galaxy Nexus which is pentaband)
What does it mean? You can put any SIM in it, but you won't get 3G unless you have the right model for your network.
Here's the specs:
i9020a/t

i9023

so 2g will work with any company or only companies with compatible frequencies of GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
if a company's frequency is 1700 and its in the 3G section, then it will work perfectly, correct?

For example Koodo only offers 3G as their GSM service, no 2G.
So if no frequency the company uses is compatible with your phone (none of them matches) then you will not get any service.

Make sure you are actually holding an i9023. Check the model printed on IMEI label on back cover under the battery.
If gsmarena spec is correct, i9023 should work with Wind/Mobilicity but not Koodo 3G, same for i9020t.
i9020a works with Koodo 3G but not Wind/Mobilicity.

Most unlock website perform SIM(Carrier) unlock. They won't unlock additional frequency support.
Nexus phones came factory SIM unlocked. Should work in India. The quoted site will take your $16.90 and do nothing

It's not a worst thing though. I got this one for only 100$ off craiglist and it works just fine. It just does not work right with a data, remind me of few years back when 2g was a fastest data service lol. Thanks again for let me know this issue.
AT&T runs on GSM band while Verizon runs on a CDMA network. I'm surprised your SIM even works. What other said is correct though, you are restricted to the slow 2G Edge speeds.

Right it does. But they use different bands in other countries. Our phone isn't capable of using any and all bands. Only certain ones. If somehow these bands were unlocked, then you could get 3g here.

How do I get more frequency working on an Indian version of S2?

So as y'all know, s2 and y2 is the exact model but differentiate from where it sales.
I got my y2 from India, currently back to Taiwan.
I wonder if there are any ways fore me to enable 900 MHz 2600Mhz LTE or 4G bands, as those two is what my cellular company provides. (Whereas my phone supports 850Mhz, 2100Mhz and all, but just not 900 MHz or 2600Mhz)
I have only found a thread with galaxy s5 I suppose, but I am a newbie here and I have absolutely no Idea what I should do.
Currently running Unlocked version MIUI 10, Android 9.
Btw, rooting wouldn't be a problem, just help me to get it working <3
