Inspire 4G on T-Mobile - HTC Inspire 4G

Well im about to root the phone using this tutorial-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952352
And my phone is unlocked already will i have to unlock it again after the root? Also if i root the phone will i be able to get 3g or 4G speeds on the Tmobile will the frequencies be right? Because i heard if the phone is just unlocked the frequencies are different.
Please reply ASAP!
Thanks

All you will get on tmo is edge. Also you can't have root without being s off.

T-Mobile have different UMTS frequencies (UMTS 900, UMTS 1700, UMTS 2100 instead of AT&T's UMTS 850, UMTS 1900), therefore only edge will work.

Hi,
I recently unlocked this phone and have been using it on Tmobile. My data is EDGE only and its frustrating. Yesterday, however, I left Brooklyn, where I live, for Great Adventures in New Jersey. As we were approaching the theme park my signal changed from EDGE to H+ and stayed that way for 10 hours. It returned to EDGE when we left the park. So, its possible to get more than EDGE if there's a concentration of mobile towers, which is what I am assuming happened.

No. What matters is frequency used by T-Mobile. Currently they are in the process of refarming their 1900mhz to 3g. Their is no way of knowing where they are testing and or activating the 1900 band. The only known place was in the bay area during the last apple event. You must have a found a spot. Its one of those you have to wait for tmo to reach your area

edge is really slow. it slower then 3g. why do you use an AT&T phone on t-mobile. is it the prepaid plan. if so their are a few prepaid that run on att network. If you went att prepaid you would get 3g minium if not more. i'm using a company called red pocket mobile. its not bad but it 55.00 a month i get unlimited talk text and 1gb of data. might wanna look into it. hope it helps.

I doubt it, once unlocked it will work on all GSM carriers is true, but it is specifically built for T-Mobile frequency, AT&T has different frequency.
Similar to the situation we have in canada, Rogers Fido Bell Telus work on similar frequencies but Wind and Mobilicity work differently.
As Galaxy S 4G is meant for T-mobile, it will work 2g only with AT&T and for that sake with 4 major canadian providers too...
I would suggest to check what phones arw im at&t and check their specs and bands. Once you do that you will know wether it will work in at&t or not.

Yes, I can confirm that it does indeed have UTMS band 1900, just like the Vibrant. I'm using it right now on AT&T and I do get 3G...now if only I could figure out how to enable 4G.

I can confirm that it works on AT&T 3G as well. You in fact get faster 3G speeds in some areas because AT&T has some different coverage than tmobile.
I unlocked the SGS4G for my Father In Law who is on AT&T, and it immediately connected to AT&T 3G. 4mbps/3mbps
It won't work on 4G though.
thats becuase at&t dosnt have 4g yeat eventhough they have 4g phones
Why not just get the vibrant instead of all it works on is 3g. It has much much more roms than this phone ever will especially with the release of the g2x and galaxy s2.

Because AT&T hasn't made any tower upgrades to increase speed.
Technically, you are on 4G, but receive 3G speeds.
With T-Mo, you WILL get 4G speeds (10mbps+), because they have the necessary tower upgrades to make that possible.

Anyone know where I can find a detailed (and updated) map showing which frequency is being used in specific areas? I'm [] this close to switch to AT&T and wouldn't mind using this until the iPhone refresh. But if I'm in 850MHZ area, I'll either trade it or sell it, as I originally intended to do.

I'd skip out on switching to AT&T- they're terrible.
The 3G upload speeds are a joke, and coverage (at least in my area) is terrible. And don't even get me started on their Tech Support department.
As for the map though, I don't know of any public ones available.

With the upload thing, I may be wrong, but it's probably because they don't have HSUPA on.
And on the download thing with your iPhone, remember, your iPhone can take advantage of both 850MHz and 1900MHz, the GS4G can only take advantage of 1900MHz, so there will most likely be some variation in speeds.
Ahh, I never even knew that it was only 1900mhz compatible on 3G D:
So, does that in turn mean that my phone will not work on AT&T's "4G"? Because that's the main point of me getting this phone over the Nexus S.

Pretty straight forward if you are used to ADB or any other file managing software.
To disable shutdown just rename
/system/media/video/shutdown
to be like /system/media/video/shutdownbackup

If you are in an area that supports AT&T's 1900MHz frequency for 3G, you may me able to get 3G speeds on AT&T with an unlocked Sensation 4G. At least according to the box the phone supports the 1900MHz frequency. No one has reported using an unlocked Sensation 4G on AT&T's network yet, as far as I know.

Confirmed: US Tmobile.com Sensation 4G works in Europe.

This question seemed to come up a few times in the past, not sure if it was properly answered.
Got a Sensation 4G from TMobile Store in NYC last week. Brought it to the UK, and it is able to connect to the 3G network here no problem.
It did not even need un locking to connect to TMobile UK Network.
Funnily Enough, it never says 3G / H, it always says 4G on notification bar.

The "3G" and "H" symbol doesn't exist on the US Sensation. "4G" is the same as "H", HSPDA.

Could you clarify that?
You don't unlock a phone by using a different SIM. You have to unlock the phone by entering an unlock code. Only after it's unlocked can it use a different brand SIM.

Any ideas of why this isn't working would be appreciated ... of course more appreciated would be any ideas for a solution.

1800 is a GSM frequency, not 3G. 2100 is used for 3G in Germany.
http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
http://www.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=GERMANY
According to the specs the MT4G does support the 1800 GSM band, although it's not used in the US. In theory it should work at 2G speed.
If it were me I'd be asking them why I'm not getting 3G on the 2100 frequency, but that may be a coverage issue.
