Baseband and connection problem - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
So I mainly opened my account here because of this problem, and I need to fix it as fast as possible...
I rooted my phone, that went fine. Then I tried to upgrade the baseband to the ICS ROM, which didn't really work (I followed all the steps but when the phone turned on it was the same version..) so I skipped that step to install a new ROM. Installed the ICS ROM on my phone, but then I wanted to install the new baseband (P500-v20G) so I will have my network back. I ran LGMDP-v1.5.exe but it didn't detect any ports. My computer doesn't detect my phone either. And on a different computer my friend tried to help me, it connected but the baseband upgrading still didn't work. Also now I get plenty of errors when my phone is on about processes closing (didn't happen after the first time I installed a new ROM, but after I tried different other ROMs it did).
Please help me :crying:
So my two problems: phone not connecting to the computer (I'm sure it's a problem with my computer) and the baseband problem.
Problems solved.

I can say only one thing.. Please search and read all important and sticky threads before experimenting with your phone. Atleast have proper knowledge. These kind of dumb issues are already been answered a thousand times.
Temporary fix for your Baseband.. use the first link in my signature.
Flash it. AND Due to old scripts.. it does work with new recoveries.. so in that case use root explorer.. unzip and paste in /system/libs.. set permissions right.. thats all.
About how to upgrade Baseband and computer problem.. search and solve it yourself.

I love you. You saved me
By the way I looked around and tried everything that's why I made this thread.
Thanks.
One more problem- I don't have 3G internet. I can call and use wifi, but no internet. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Check you APNs ( Access Point Name ). Setting is located under Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names on CM7. I think on ICS and JB it's under Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names. You mentioned a P500, so you're carrier should be listed as ATT under the APNs list.

Back to stock - Issues.

I have a I9020T, I was on CM7, Oxygen etc.. for the last few months. But i had some stability issues, SOD's , reboots, freezes etc.
So i thought I'll go back to good old stock. i downloaded the stock rom's from the general section, and flashed them
Now i notice that i lose signals, phone's display is messed up during incoming calls( I can only see the the status bar, Below that everything is black, But i could just answer the calls by swiping the screen), Losing signal happens almost every alternate day.
So all i wanna know is, Are all these known bugs or is my phone screwed up due to too much flashing?
I am totally unrooted now.... I wiped everything including sd card and have tried atleast 3 different stock roms already.
Anyone else having these issues? Any solutions or fixes.
Hi,
Have you already try ODIN ?
He's able to put your device as it was before all changes.

I thought odin was not safe? That's a last option right because its the same as flashing the stock rom through recovery?
I've already use it a lot of time. I was using it on my spica by thé past.
With thé good files and the good tuto it might work.
Here, in France, we use Odin to restore a clean phone.
If you decided tu use it, you will put your device like ait was new . And you will have to flash thé recovery and root him.
I late you search for some comments from over users.

can you supply links for the nessesary files for i9020t???
I'll find the folder to download here (need to register for DL) : http://www.samfirmware.com/mobile.htm
I'm looking for link for ODIN download.
I just talk about a way to might resolve some issue, use it a your own risks.
Be careful with your device version. Save your data (SMS, Pictures, Music...)
Using Odin shouldn't remove data from "SD CARD" but might be safe...
Edit : The link of download ODIN is in the same line. (FLASHER).

Can you give me link of proper instructions for ODIN, I searched here and the thread in Android development doesn't seem to have the necessary files for I9020T.
I don't know what kind of difference there is between i9020 A and i9020 T.
I'm running a i9023.
In the website I'd give the link, you'll find a FlashGuide with explain what is necessary to do in order to use Odin.
If you register there, you'll able to download the guide and more informations about the way to use.
I can't give you more answers, sorry.
Try Matr1x v11.0 CFS ;D
Do you think i9023 & i9020T are running the same build ?
I wonder.
Because, I've just get a look on the following thread and the two devices seems to work with the same baseband.
Look here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056062
I let you wait for another feedback from users. I just should want to give a way.
I hope you'll manage to get back to Stock.

Strange efs/imei problem, wont flash to stock

so I have a SR I just put a new (used, off ebay but new to me) motherboard in, and it works fine except for no imei/baseband, so obviously no data/voice/etc.
the efs folder seems to be fine...imei folder is in there, keystr file is there...I don't understand what the problem is.
the worst part is, only certain roms will flash...I cannot flash to stock, I've tried with odin and from recovery, a couple different stock versions of GB, ICS, and still no luck. It actually flashes, then does the "android is upgrading" screen, but then bootloops on the optimizing apps part. I've tried to flash to stock probably 20 times now, wiped everything, fixed permissions, etc...without fail it bootloops every time.
the only roms Ive gotten to flash are slim and jedi...no stock rom will flash, nor avatar and a couple others I've tried. but slim and jedi flash and boot right up...just have blank imei/baseband.
I've scoured threads for days trying to figure out what to do here...nobody seems to have my exact problem, and everything I've found about restoring efs/imei/baseband has involved flashing to stock...which I can't do.
anyone have any ideas?
Have you tried flashing different radios (baseband)?

Take a look at this thread, it may help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25172599#post25172599
thanks for the replies...
I've flashed UCM1 and UCLL3 radios, they flash fine but no change...still can't flash to stock and no imei/baseband/service.
That fix thread was one of the first I found, but as I still have my keystr file in the efs folder, I didn't think it would apply to me...I suppose I could make an external backup of my efs, delete it and try one of those methods from scratch.
read through the restore to stock sticky http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398 and go through the trouble shooting sections, if that doesn't help u could have bad hw

Hey, Im facing the exact same problem! just that my imei turned to 0 and basband to unknown after i upgraded to cynogenmod 10.1-rc.2.
It was working fine till suddenly one day i lost network. I tried everything like you did. So far ive had no luck fixing my efs!
What you can do is download QTPS and in it there is a RF NV Item manager to rewrite your efs. For that you need to put you phone into DIAG mode unfortuantely i cant get to that on 10.1nightly cynogenmod that im using.
I m stuck. I know for sure flashing roms or radios wont help at all. the same boot loop problem happens when I flash using odin, it use to work perfectly fine earlier.
Some how the nv_data.bin and such files are missing from my efs>imei folder that contain the imei data.
If you find something please lemme know too [email protected]

will do.
also, you may know this already, but just in case, be aware the skyrocket doesn't use nv_data.bin...I thought it did too when I first started searching around about this, and when i couldnt find it I was pretty freaked out...but then i found out the skyrocket actually uses 3 encrypted partitions rather than a nv_data file. so if you have at least some files in your efs/imei folder you may be in a better spot than it seems. of course if its totally empty, you'll likely have a lot more work to do.
I'll update if I have any luck.

Yes I have two files in my imei folder i,e keystr and mps_code.dat!
I tired changing them from root explorer! pasted someones else's efs folder! but still I cant fix my imei is stays 0.
i donno how to get to diag mode with this rom, otherwise i could have tried my luck with QPTS.
Incase you have broken your imei without backing it up, there is another way. And yes it is legal.
Here's the tutorial http://goo.gl/wtW29 and here's the needed tools (software & hardware) http://goo.gl/54mtk.

I actually have octopus box as well as the z3x samsung tool installed, however, they're both server activation based...the software is useless without an $89 (octopus) to $120( (z3x) activation.
I'd rather not spend that kind of money for something I'll likely only need once, so I'm gonna do as much as I can in the way of free solutions, and if I have no luck there I'll probably just send it to mobiletechvideos for their $40 efs/imei repair. I'm guessing they use one or more of these repair box programs themselves anyway, and will do the same job for only $40.
thanks for the suggestion anyway though..

There's this polish guy who probably also has all the same boxes and he takes €10 for imei repair by remote desktop.
http://forum.samdroid.net/f70/repair-imei-s2-5729/
And finally you could try helping the op of this thread to add compatibility for skyrocket, this would be free.

Isn't there any way to fix my imei on my own ?
Mt efs folder also looks good now with all the files it should have but still the imei remains unaffected.
Also i'd like to know that the qualcom nv tool showed my esn as dead and mied as 000....000 does the dead thing mean it isnt repairable ?
I tried using QPTS but this is where I get stuck.. (img attatched)

People want money for it because it's mostly used for making stolen phones work again.
That means real life risks like fines, jail etc.
Of course there are lots of examples when people experiment with this or that and delete their imei accidentally, or want to change the imei for some other reason. But these are more rare.
An update...
I managed to finally get flashed to stock...still null/null imei & baseband unknown. Efs folder is still there with files, keystr file is on...not sure what else I can do myself at this point so, I guess its time for the Polish dude or mobiletechvideos.

so, i just got a broken SR with a cracked lcd off ebay for $50 and used the motherboard from it.

Ohkies.
Did you ask the polish guy about the reason why he was not able to fix your mobile. Coz, I'm just having similar problem like yours. I tried working with all the local samsung service centre guys, nothing worked. One guy said that my mobile IMEI is locked in some database, so it is not picking or detecting my SIM, hence locked. I know that my mobile is unlocked and is valid, I ignored his comments.
I assume you changed your MotherBoard of the mobile with the new cracked SR's, so that it could take new IMEI instilled in new board. Is it so?
Also, please suggest me about any alternatives on how to fix this problem.:crying:

No network

First of all I wanted to let you know that I've tried everything in my power before I post my problem here. I found it very difficult to understand some solutions that are discussed here. But after 3 days I have decided to try it here.
I just bought a LG P920 for my son (can't afford a new phone now) and he got a present. A car you can control with your phone, but it didn't work because I thought the android version wasn't sufficient enough so I flashed a custom rom:
CyanogenMod -version Android 4.1.2
10-20121227-NIGHTLY-p920
After several other roms, and I tried a lot, I still have no baseband. It says: unknown
Which rom can I flash to get it back? Or is there an easy way to get the baseband? I saw some tutorials but I found them very hard to do. I really hope somebody has a solution for my son and me. Excuse my english, I'm from Holland
You may simply need to set up your APN; my tutorial covers that, and also flashing baseband. I have not tried CM so I am not sure if there are any issues there, however.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195753
Thank you very much for your response and I've looked at your tutorial but I have really no idea what I'm supposed to do. Rooting and flashing a custom rom is easy but this is something out-of-my-league.
Wich flash tool do I have to use for flashing a baseband? How does this go? I'm really sorry about this but this is completely new for me.

I post it twice accidentally ...:silly:
You would set up pc drivers as in part 1. Then use Flash Tool to flash a baseband (.fls file). There are a few included in the download files, or there is a link there to other basebands for different countries. You do not need to install ICS or the custom ROM if you do nit want.
You may not need to do all that; you just might need to set up the APN for your particular network and SIM if you have not tried that already.

You're right and it worked. It all went well and I got the complete green line at the end, so I thought this is it. I'm back to stock!
But now it says when I check
Android-version:
2.3.5
Baseband-version:
L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00
Kernel=-version:
2.6.35.7+
and still no possibility to make a call ... it still says: No service
Did you set up your APN?

How do I do that? I also checked my imei number and there's isn't one. So that was the issue all the time. I've searched a way to retrieve it and tried it. But I got stuck at point 6. Got this from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734330
Restoring IMEI
1. Connect phone by USB
2. Activate USB debug mode
3. Enter 3845#*920# in dialer if that doesn’t work try 3845#*925#
4. Select Port Settings -> Select CP Image Download
5. A new device should appear at let it install
6. Open Tutty and select serial protocol. Click on open
7. Type AT if response is not OK, change port number (it is possible that when typing you don’t see any letters)
8. Type at%imei, it should display a dummy IMEI
9. Type at%imei=x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x where x,x,x... is your orginal IMEI number (found under the battery of your phone). It should response IMEI WRITE OK
10. Reboot phone
I have never lost IMEI so dunno there. APN is in system settings, more...

WiFi sees networks, won't connect to any...

Hey all, I've looked all through this forum, and can't seem to find an answer.
I have an unlocked bootloader. If I use any custom rom (have tried various 4.3 and 4.4), WiFi will see the access points, but will not connect to them no matter what, or where.
If I go back to stock, wifi works fine.
I've messed with all of the wifi settings in the phone. I've found a couple of posts in the forums here, and tried one suggestion of replacing a file in the /persist foler. Doesn't help.
Has anyone seen this before and/or know what to do to fix it?

Help! EMEI problems

ive been searching around and cant get this thing to connect to a network. i was on mm and i wanted to go back to kk so i tried just doing a full wipe and flashed the fastboot 44s rom (i had a bunch of useless crap saved on my phone and i wanted to get rid of it anyways).
the phone booted up but it says audiofx error and then just reboots. ive tried the msm coloros download tool but its not recognizing my phone in fastboot and neither is the cm11s version of it. i can flash fastboot cm11s roms but i can not get this thing to stay on for more than 3secs.
i have an efs backup from a year ago when this happened but it says the files are corrupted but they shouldnt be. they were iso and i changed their file types to bin (not sure if that makes any sense at all)
could someone please help. thanks in advance
