Just to be sure - have you plugged it in to check if it was just the battery dying?

in recovery it says 78% ima redownload and check back in

You're clearly not bricked if you have managed to open recovery. Although highly unlikely, it might have just been a bad flash. Try flashing it again. Did you remember to flash the boot.img beforehand as well? That was where I kept cocking up.

No, you cannot. You will need the boot.img that came with the ROM that you downloaded. If it hasn't come with one, then go down the the stable ROM, you'll have to wait until you can get the boot.img for the version of the ROM that you are downloading.

Right, try a different ROM. A recognised stable one. Try cyanogenmod 10. If that still goes tits up then I recommend getting the stock RUU, relocking the bootloader, S-OFF, so your HBOOT says ***LOCKED*** instead of ***UNLOCKED*** and does not say ***TAMPERED***, then ask HTC or your network for a repair.
I can only think that the ROM has done the equivilant of the BSoD, but obviously with no error message, but instead does a really dim screen to tell you that something ain't right.

Try and go through the setup process to the point where you can put a power strip widget on the desktop, and then try to adjust the screen brightness.
Can you get an adb shell?
I can get into the same 'really dark screen'-thing by doing
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlight/brightness
..and get back to normal by doing
echo 100 > /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlight/brightness
You can check the brightness value by doing
cat /sys/class/leds/lcd-backlight/brightness

i just gave up and just RUU to stock its all better now hopefully :silly:

Hi,
What exactly happens:
Mobile start, I enter my pin, wait briefly (1-2 minutes) run app or listening to music, mobile phone comes in the boot animation and is contrary to the input pin. I disagree, wait, start app or music and get reflected in the boot animation and enter against my pin and now my phone is running without problems and very fluid. But when my phone goes out ma, because the battery is empty, the same happens.

Kernel swapping
I would suggest that you try different kernels.
you may also need the right flash order as most suggested.
Right ROM> right addons> right Kernel> (optional) reboot to bootloader> (optional) install radio

can you find out the stock kernel you are using? if from insertcoin thread, try other from either faux or bricked.

What i mean about Bricked ones is the Beta 1 528 and install camera fix 1.4
before installing these you should do the flash order rightly then do the above.
let us know if it will boot.

Aha, you may need some combination, try ARHD 4.1.7+ amaze cam+ bricked kernel.
I think you might need to try this method as i mentioned on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348766
if you need the extra add-ons be sure to put it after the ROM flashing then bricked kernel mentioned from the link above with it's camfix.
Add-ons like beats, battery are mentioned.
if you need them i will post you the needed links.
i will be right back for doing some father work x), will respond later.

You might need a task killer, try system panel 1.1.0
use it's widget button to kill tasks in one single tap, also you can go to it's program to exclude some programs you want (like whatsapp) from being ended by system panel.
at each time you wake your phone from sleep, PRESS the button, will let your phone to sleep, Press the button, whole beginning to play heavy games, Press the button.
easy than any other task managers

Hi i flash with 4 file what video show i download from the link who made this video it can flash fine but just stuck on Samsung logo
I may just be talking crazy, but i think i read or seen in the video where it says that you do it 2 times. back to back. Like after you flash it, then go and select the exact same files again. kinda like in the video. Dont close the program just yet after flashing, go through each of those 4 and select the same files again and flash. not sure if you disconnect the phone tho, i would try it both ways. I think thats why that video was made to show that you reselet the SAME files again, instead of hitting flash 2 times without selecting. sorry it took me a while to respond back
Hey pls help, i have the same issues, followed the forum, the post and the guide but still i couldn't get the phone to boot... pls help me... any news ideas... Thanks...

[Q] Viewsonic VSD220?

Hello
I was wondering if anyone has been using the Viewsonic VSD220 yet? It's the 22" tablet/screen running ICS.
I went to manufacturer's site to download drivers to use as part of Bin4ary's instructions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 in trying to root the device but there are no drivers available.
Anyone has any ideas on how to go about getting drivers or find other means of rooting the device? My intention is to overclock the OMAP4430 from 1Ghz to maybe as high as 1.2Ghz.
TY

I would like to root the device as well in order to change LCD density as the default seems unappropriate for a screen of that size.
I'm looking for an answer here too ...

What exactly do you mean by pixel density?
I had some issues with the screen as well but worked it out through configurations.
Video card drivers plus Windows text clarity tools improved things a lot.
I would also like to root it, as it seems not to support mass storage out the box... Other than that, I am quite pleased with it so far

With LCD Density I mean what most (windows) users would refer to display resolution. It has a native Full HD Display with 1920x1080.
Unfortunately, by default everything is scaled up in an 1:2 factor. This means that a webpage displayed in the browser that has actually a width of ~950pixel takes the full screen width on the VSD220. This may be good if a 10" screen with full HD does that, but not on a 22" screen.
Anyone found recovery mode yet as well - usually involved another button as well as power on a phone/tablet but there only is the power button!
This can root, just don't do the 1.1 OTA update!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
As long as you don't have the 1.1 update this will work to root the vsd220...
If any of you have the firmware or know how to recover to 1.0 I'd love to, I miss using titanium backup and droidmote amongst others...
The google generic adb drivers worked for me btw...
Ah, sorry just done the update. Took ages, messed up my config and stopped sleeping etc so had to fully reset! What a great update!!
Not really noticed any fixes - still very slow, can't use most apps on play etc etc.
Probably going to swap to a Minix Neo X5 and an old Acer T231HL Touchscreen that I picked up and have been messing with, works pretty well, much faster!
adrenalize_: Yeah update was a giant **** around :S You can get to recovery mode though, just have to use adb and send adb reboot recovery... can't access the recovery menu at all or anything like that though and there are no firmware images available for the vsd220 anywhere :S
OP and people trying to root the VSD220, I have accomplished root on both versions 1.0 and 1.1. Please go to my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38438216#post38438216 and feel free to ask questions or if you need better instructions.
Thanks sk8tingusmc, although I had to use fastboot boot recovery.img instead of fastboot flash recovery recovery.img I finally managed to get my monitor rerooted (I'm not allowed to post on the topic you created though, sorry for the mislocated post) and now I've frozen system update so I shouldn't have to worry about that pile of stupid again Now if only they had actually released either the original firmware or a better update that fixed some problems (I hate having to restart my monitor just because it got froze in sleep or the touchscreen no longer works for windows or... ).
Yeah the locked in sleep is a real pain! Silly silly Viewsonic!
I'm onto customer support at the moment, trying to tease V1.0 out of them so I can restore it at home but they are saying it needs to be returned to their service center for it to be done. You'd kind of hope they would release a very quick update to fix it - I'm assuming it affect all units?

Hey no problem, that is odd I could have sworn I used fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. Maybe the install-recovery.sh flashed the stock recovery before you had a chance to reboot into recovery. I will try to compile some custom roms but I have very little free time. Also I haven't used my monitor for long periods of time and have only had it for a few days so I have not had any of those symptoms yet. How long is it asleep before freezing?

I made a nandroid and image.zip of version 1.0 if you are interested.
It seems that if the device sleeps itself - or if you quickly press the power button to sleep then when you press the power button to make it wake up it turns green for a few seconds then goes back to amber.
I've just found that if I leave an app open - like Tune in Radio the sleep works OK but if you go back to the home screen then sleep - well sleeps forever. I have turned off the sleep option to stop it happening then but we usually just sleep the screen when going out etc especially as it takes so long to boot.
Thanks for an offer of the image.zip I guess I might give it a go to save returning the hassle of returning the display! (I've used 4shared for things like that in the past)
Should the image be flashable using fastboot (after oem unlock and rebooting to the bootloader) or can it only be done from cwm?

Actually the nandroid backup is the only way I can revert back to v1.0 is the Android, the boot loader/kernel does not allow modifications to just the system. The best thing we can do is try to do a safestrap. Since there is only one button flashing a kernel or bootloader would be to risky, if you can't boot in you can't adb reboot recovery. I have been able to boot a boot loader from an sdcard but I haven't found a bootloader/kernel combination that has worked yet.
I had to edit my last reply, I posted from smartphone and it auto corrected my words.

Either go here and follow the steps starting at the device manager step if SDK is already installed. If not start from beginning. Or set up an android environment on a Linux distro.
Got this rooted now. Any advice on best lcd density, tweaks, overclocking etc to make this thing more usable? What app can I use to hide the status bar?

I'm looking for this firmware, after the update my screen is totally out of sync.

Ugh... Assisntance needed..

Okay... I don't know what to do anymore.
Every Jellybean ROM I flash on this phone is far from buttery smooth.
Okay hear me out.
I turn on the phone...
Drop down bar is stuttery... Scrolling is very Skippy...
I give my phone 5 seconds charge..
All the lag stops.. 100% smooth.
I turn off the screen..
Turn it back on.. And the lag is back.
Its getting on my nerves and I've tried EVERY ROM in here...
They all act the same..
I've done kernels and overclocking...
FSC... Blackhole...
I've flashed.. Reflashed and flashed again...
Nothing...
Can anyone PLEASE tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Can grab logcat thru adb or via an app like alogcat. Either will do the trick.
If you use adb, the command I use is adb logcat > XXX.txt . Run this when you reboot the phone and it will get the info needed. You can then attach the txt file here or on pastebin. Good luck

Can grab logcat thru adb or via an app like alogcat. Either will do the trick.
If you use adb, the command I use is adb logcat > XXX.txt . Run this when you reboot the phone and it will get the info needed. You can then attach the txt file here or on pastebin. Good luck

[Q] looping TF300T

Hi All,
Searched the forum but couldn't find the same problem.
Tablet starts-up and goes to the starting screen.
After ca. 10 to 20 sec's the tablet reboots.
Sometimes I can read a mail or google for about 10 secs.
It is an original tablet, no unlocking or whatsoever.
Problems started after the latest update (firmware... I think)
What to do,
I am a noob not a nerd.
All help welcome !
regards

Have you tried factory reset or reflashing your stock firmware?

Thanks for your quick response :good:
No, I don't get time enough to do a factory reset or back-up.
How to reflash stock firmware ?
When using the start button/volume down I get this message :
bootloader <1.00> released by "ww_epad-10.6.1.27.5-20130902" AO3
The screen says : "RCK" "ANDROID" "WIPE DATA"
When using RCK I get a dead Android with a error message
When using ANDROID I get a cold booting, a startup and I can read 2 E-mails and the looping is back.
I obviously do not use the Wipe out command.
I am using the TF300T with dock for nearly 13 months and was happy with the performance.

You do this with the Stock install zip for your bootloader:

1. Download the latest version of Android for your tablet. Make sure you download the correct SKU version.
A. To find the SKU, go into settings, About tablet, and look for your Build Number, There are two letters (such as US,WW, TW, etc.) that is your SKU. When downloading the zip from ASUS', you must download the correct SKU zip.
2. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
3. Rename it to:
A. For the TF700 and TF300: EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
4. Make sure your MicroSD card is formatted Fat32. It must be Fat32 Format or it will not work.
5. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
6. Insert the MicroSD into the tablet
7. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
8. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
9. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button (on RCK, this is your recovery which should already be selected) until you see Android logo and process bar
10. Give the update process 5-10 minutes. It should not take longer than that. If it happens to run for more than 45 minutes to an hour, force shut down the tablet and see if it boots. If it does not, try rerunning steps 7-9.

Thats annoying of Asus... the only versions that are available on XDA are older ones like 10.6.1.27.1. But idk if it will work to flash back like that, and I wouldn't recommend doing it unless someone else has already tried and been successful.

Do you have a copy of the install zip for the stock firmware? You need that to reflash it, and you can if you have it for 10.6.1.27.5-20130902

Hi Fransoos,
seems like your recovery is sorta borked. In a even worse situation (nothing booted up at all) I followed two guides:
1. Complete reset you device and update to the latest stock firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44244313&postcount=12
You should be able to get the latest firmware from this thread, I tried to download the 4.2 WW, working fine
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949758
2. A very nice script that will install the latest CM11 nightly and Google Apps on your device, including a working recovery and everything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579922
You only need to have the drivers installed and an unlocked Bootloader. Maybe this is the way to go for you.
At least it's what I did and I am very happy with my decision.
Cheers

In the newer versions of the stock firmware there are only the three icons (RCK and so on) you described. A line at the top of the screen will say something bout fastboot, so if anyone tells you to select the USB icon ... than that is outdated information. Kept me on my toes for a while.
Cheers

Hi guys, dumb question, but why not just let Francoos install the not latest firmware? It should at least fix his issues. If not, the lean wipe of the tablet should resolve this, but then his data is lost.
Any 4.2 stock firmware should give him better results than a reboot every 10 seconds.
Cheers

The OP's bootloader is locked and he is on the latest firmware: 10.6.1.27.5. So upgrading to the latest firmware is the same as reflashing the firmware. So he has to download the 10.6.1.27.5 firmware from the forums or Asus website and upgrade it manually using the quote I gave a few posts ago.

You can probably get the firmware from here:

Still can't reach Asus for the file.
Is possible to use the usb port on the dock to reflash or must it be the miniSD ?

You can reflash though fastboot or through the microSD card. The USB port cannot be used.
You can also download the ROM here though: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227

Did you see it reflashing and did it erase all of your data? It looping should not continue after a factory reset unless it is a hardware problem.

The android is belly loading and after reboot no data is lost.
Did open the tablet to see if the on/off button is stuck.
All seems alright.
Can you backup your apps using the Asus app and the factory reset?

No, I do not have time enough to backup; after 10 to 20 secs it goes in looping.
If I want to use an older firmware, do I have to rename it too ; wich name ?
