AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)
0A.68

Was you on 2.3.6 GB or the ICS Leak? This is extremely important to know.
If you was on 2.3.6 GB you have to use the patch in the fxz. If you was on ICS, you HAVE to use Jim's utility script to get back to GB from ICS.

Please see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
Read on how to fxz back to 2.3.5. Since you were on 2.3.6 you will need to patch the file. There are instructions in the thread on how to do that also. Read carefully!

I have my original ROM backed up, with cwm its about one GB. Its not a zip file. Can someone tell Me
how to flash that. I am able get into fastbboot and recovery. The only Thing is I can't change my phone anymore.
I had 2.3.6 on the phone. I need to patch for 2.3.5? I'm not understanding.
Please help those is my only phone.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
If you can't get into CWM, you CANNOT restore your CWM backup. It will not work in stock recovery.
You need to fxz back to 2.3.5, and then ota to 2.3.6.
I'm not gonna give you detailed steps as its all laid out in the link I gave you in my previous response to you. Please read it thoroughly and you won't have an issue.
The link will explain why you need to patch the file and how.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Can you help me find the fxz file. All the link don't work.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Assuming you are on AT&T, download the AT&T file from the link you posted in your original post, then patch it with the patch file in the noob thread.
Follow the instructions carefully. If you don't patch the fxz file, it won't flash. Let me know if you run into problems

When I used the file from the site it stop and fails. Or Do I install the patch first. It RDS failes.
Thanks for the help

It's failing because you haven't patched it. Patch it, then flash it.

my phone was 100% working 2 day ago. I tried to flash android jellybean using this site: http://androidrays.com/1007/how-to-update-motorola-atrix-2-to-cm10-jellybean-rom/
now my phone is bricked.
i tried the noob guide,
1) download the FXz file
2) download the replace.zip ( which is the patch)
3) unziped both files.
4) Coped the replace file into the fxz file.
5) use RSD LIght to flash.
every time it failed. I tried most of the fxz files on the site but no luck.
one question , when i choose the file for RSD i get two options to select from 1) file from the patch (InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID285) 2) the FXZ file. which one should i use
please help
thank you
Bring up RSD lite, drag the original inline_flashing xml from your desktop to RSD and drop it, then drag the patch into RSD and drop it, it should ask if you want to replace, say yes. Then make sure your phone is in AP Fastboot plug it in via usb, verify that it sees your device, then select start. Let it go until it says pass.
That is all you have to do. However, if you didn't have USB Debugging checked on your phone before all of this, that may be a problem.
It's the same thing Fall has been telling you, but a bit dumbed down so to speak.
I'm sorry if this doesn't help man..

Oh man.
Oh man.
That link couldn't be further from the truth George, and he is going to cause many users issues like yourself. Two very important things about that link: one, you can only flash stock Motorola images through regular recovery. It is impossible to flash things like cyanogenmod in stock recovery. You need a custom recovery to flash custom ROMS. Like bootmenu boot strap, or safe strap.
Second: to flash cm10 (which is based on jelly bean) you MUST be on ICS first.
Gosh, that link is going to cause some headaches.
That being said, let us know how the flash goes man.

As long as you can still get into AP fastboot, you still have a chance. Ill see if I can figure out something else to try.

Dang, here's what I'm thinking and I've seen it before, where for some reason PART of the ICS/JB system gets flashed but part doesn't. So one last thing.... George, there should be a number in RSD lite where the flash is actually failing at. Example: 3/18
What part is it failing at?

Hey guys,
Tried installing ICS with my rooted ATRIX2. It failed so I did some reading found out you had to unroot to update. Went back unrooted and still the update fails. I rooted with casual public beta. Unrooted using the one click method. No idea how to flash my phone to a different rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Trying to update and root again.

So you was rooted on 2.3.6 right?
If so you need to just fxz back to gb 2.3.6, and then try the ota. But beware, the ota has no fxz to save you in case of a screw up.

Even if you have unrooted, if you deleted any of the stock apps, or still have a custom recovery set up at boot, then the update won't work. Like previously stated, you need to FXZ back to completely stock gingerbread, then run the update. I had the same issue.

question about update to ICS
Noticed a lot of people having problems with Battery( not charging) going dead quickly due to media files. any comments would be helpful and Thanks.
Ok i followed all the steps loaded my phone into fastboot flash, installed the drivers, download rsd lite 5.7, and I cant get RSD Lite to recognize my phone. I uninstalled and re installed the necessary drivers and still nothing. I also noticed when picking a file in RSD Lite when I go to select a file there are two. (edison-user 2.3.6 5.5.1-175_EDMR1.25 5.51.175.25 release-keys2011-11-16 23:52 Off.Bld LUD_EDISON_R1D7_PATCH_36_111116_2336 crh1090280_M570_PC_CARD_RAIN) or (ndp). I am assuming that I need to flash the first file.
Any help on where I went wrong or why it isnt recognizing my phone would be greatly appreciated. Sorry I am a noob to modding phones. I promise I learn quickly and appreciate your patience.

Ultimately what I am trying to accomplish is to install SlimBean ICS on my friends Froyo Galaxy. (I am a Motorola Guy)
From my understanding you need to go to Ginger first. Easy enough, use Kies.
Next I need to install CM, this is where I am getting lost. Do I need to install 7 (GB) before I can install 9 (ICS)?
How do I install CM on this device? Totally lost because there are so many extra steps.
Lastly there is install SlimBean once CM is installed which is easy enough via CWM.
First question is, are you using a Galaxy or Galaxy S 4G? They're different.
Second, skip KIES, use a one-click. Flash once, reboot, Linda, Flash with bootloaders.
Then you can move on to the fun of ICS.
Please remove the battery from the phone and verify that the model for the phone is either
SGH-T959V
or
SGH-T959W
Those are the only phones the files on this forum are meant for! Reply with the model here so we can direct you to the right forum if your friend's phone is different than the Galaxy S 4G

Ummm, its a little more complicated than Flashing.Lol
You are reverting system files and such. Grab you a STOCK image from Sammobile than flash in Odin following the steps outlined in konanes thread in the dev section. Don't ever flash backwards between versions of android in cwm, you'll soft brick your phone. Bad advice ^^^^dude

more options, less bloatware, runs faster, and more stable, actual suupport that you dont get from motorola.
along with a cleaner look, but thats all opinion.
Basically the same reason for all devices. Stock just sucks.

If you like stock ICS, but are considering a custom ROM then you should try NUMA.
It's still ICS, but it's a huge upgrade from the Motorola ICS, and because it is stock based it's the only custom ROM that has all the hardware features working. That said, since the breakthrough with Kexec, I have flashed every JB ROM here and they're all great in their own respects. My advice to you would be to try them all. You're sure to find one that suits your needs.

Couple of more questions, first up: what's Kexec? Next: if I flash a custom is it possible to go back stock? Last up: does flashing a ROM effect your unlock status? I would hate to lose that.

My knowledge of Kexec is limited but my understanding is that it is a way to load a custom kernel on top of the stock kernel. This is needed because the locked bootloader prevents us from simply overwriting the stock kernel.
Yes you can flash the FXZ via RSD lite to return to stock. You'll need to find the FXZ that is specific to you're phone ESPECIALLY if it is an AT&T branded phone. Just make sure you know your phone's model number and firmware version so you can find the correct FXZ.
No, flashing a ROM will not have any effect on your carrier unlock, and neither will flashing an FXZ.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.
Just did some looking at numa. Looks good on paper, I like Ics so I don't think I'll upgrade to jellybean anytime soon. So numa it is when I decide to flash. But it looks like I need to do my homework on flashing the Atrix 2. that locked bootloader seems to be a pain. I don't need a bricked device.
Sent from my MB865 using xda app-developers app
Honestly if you follow flashing instructions in the op of rom threads, chances are very slim that you will brick. Soft brick, maybe, but those are easy to recover from. My rule of thumb, titanium backup everything before flashing a rom,

If you can not answer these types of questions on your own then you have no business flashing anything as you will most likely get yourself in trouble. What you need to do is read, read, read, read, and read and learn the answers to these questions for yourself. All the information you need is readily available and easy to find you just have to look for it. Step by step instructions are listed in the op of every ROM so there is no need to repost them all here. The only short cuts with this phone almost always lead directly to bricked phones. Also, "best ROM" inquiries not allowed because the answers are subject to user experience and therefore varies from user to user. What is good for me may not be good for you.

You can only flash GB ROMs if your stock firmware is GB. If your stock firmware is ICS, you can flash any ICS or jb ROM. That's probably what your issue is. Just reflash your FXZ, root, install Boot Menu Manager and try one of the ICS or JB ROMs. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly this time to avoid any more problems.

I doubt it. If you're on GB then you probably need this instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606257
And if you are on GB, then you can only flash the ROMs that are meant for GB. They are kind of old, though, and no longer supported.
