How to Downgrade JB 4.1.2 to GB 2.3.6 on Galaxy S Advance(16gb and 8gb)<works 100%>
read it carefully before doing it n remember iam not responsible for any bricked phones, brain strokes, heart attacks etc etc...so jus be careful and follow the instructions
Requirements:
1)Follow the instructions carefully. This tutorial is applicable for Galaxy S Advance phone (GT-I9070) running Jelly Bean Android 4.1.2 OS.
2)Make sure you’ve charged your phone to its full capacity.
3)Backup all contents on your phone including contacts, messages, apps (if you want to), images, videos, personal files as downgrading process will wipe everything.
4)Proceed at your own risk as your device might get bricked. So, do not downgrade unless you desperately want to. If you really want to downgrade to GB, you can even approach Samsung Mobile Service center to do the job for you instead of taking risk yourself. The author and this website hold no responsibility for any damage.
5)USB Data Cable
6)Computer/Laptop
How to Downgrade JB 4.1.2 to GB 2.3.6 on Galaxy S Advance:
1)Download this package from (http://d-h.st/sA3) just copy and paste the link on ur address bar.
2)This is compressed file. Use 7-zip or winrar program to extract the archive.
3)Open Odin3 v1.85 version.
4)Turn off your phone. Go to download mode on your phone by pressing volume down + home+ power keys together. You’ll be asked to press volume up key to confirm entry into download mode.
5)Connect your phone to computer via usb cable.
6)In ODIN, a box will turn colored with com number and in the log window, there will be a message – Added.
7)Now click on PDA button in ODIN and select CODE_GT-I9070_I9070DXLD1_CL1068093_REV00_user_SEC_KEY_LD1_ 8G.tar.md5 file.
8)Now hit on CSC button and select CSC_GT-I9070-MULTI-CSC-OLBLD1_SEC_KEY_8G.tar.md5 file.
9)Hit on PIT button and select the PIT file extracted from the downloaded package in first step above (GT-I9070_EUR_XX_8G.pit).
10)Now, make sure Re-Partition, Auto-Reboot, F. Reset Time boxes are ticked in ODIN program.
11)Click on Start button.
12)Let the flashing process continue.
13)After some time, your phone will reboot. It might take time to start so have patience.
14)Once your phone starts successfully and ODIN displays PASS message in Green colored box, you can then unplug your phone from computer.
15)Go to phone settings to confirm if you’re successfully back on GingerBread OS.
(note:the below steps are only for 16gb s advance users)
16)Now, if you’ve 16GB Galaxy S Advance phone, your internal memory might have shrunk to much smaller size.
17)it must have now shrunk to 3.9gb from 11.5 gb
18)to fix this, just download your country's official GB from here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014516).
19)using odin 3.07,flash the official GB with auto-reboot and f.reset time ticked and RE-PARTITION UNTICKED(it should NOT be selected)
20)after flashing(go to-settings--->storage----->Format USB storage)
21)congrats,nw ur phone is perfectly running on official gingerbread(2.3.6)
DON'T forget to hit like b
utton:angel:

You can flash Bam Kernel via Odin. I'm using it. Download the latest fix version and flash it in pda. It has CWM & it will root the device.

Or use the CF-Root for DDLF2 from here. The procedure is same.

Read this post. If you follow it to the end you'll have CM9 (ICS alpha build)
Stop at end of ddlf2 root step and you should have a rooted ddlf2 build.
PLEASE NOTE, you'll lose all your data. Make sure you take a backup or everything that you'll regret losing later.
Make sure you backup all your contacts to your google account.

can i also do these steps as I already have a ddlf2 firmware on my GT I9003....
1-Root phone and install cwm.
2-Do full nandroid backup.
3. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
4. Go to Advanced -> Reboot Recovery.
5. After the Recovery restarts, Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
6. Mounts and Storage -> Format dbdata
7. Flash Google Apps.
8. Reboot
Are these steps also correct or I would be messed up..........

Can anyone tell me how do I completely unroot my phone? As in, bring back to normal stock rom condition
Easiest way would be to flash stock rom(of your choice) using odin.

Hi and welcome to the Galaxy SL Forum, if you want to root update first to Gingerbread, try searching 'General Guide for i9003 Noob'
And for your questions:
1. No, you don't need internet, you only need it when you download ROMs, tweaks and CF-Root.
2. For downloading ICS apps on Froyo, no you can't . You can run ICS apps if you install custom ROMs that based on CM9 or CM10
Good luck with the phone mate

Yes. My procedure to go to ICS or JB based CROM is
1) flash xxkpe as per guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787 .. download ROM file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
2) flash ddlf2 per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741370
3) Use CF-Root to root ddlf2 per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253
4) Flash ICS or JB ROM of your choice, ONLY AFTER READING THE PARTICULAR THREAD
I'd still prefer you do more searching and reading before attempting something that you dont understand completely.

I'll answer your PM here.
As per what I read here, it is advised (by people's experience) that it's better to flash xxkpe(using ODIN) 1st then to a gingerbread valuepack firmware(i used ddlf2) of your choice, then to root it. Then flash any ICS/JB ROM of your choice.
Also, you need to understand you'll lose everything on your phone when you flash xxkpe using odin. Also, once rooted, you'll be unable to use Kies to restore your data. So, before attempting all this, make sure you backup everything that you'll regret losing.

there are many youtube tutorials and you can easily search for them and choose what is best for you but the thing you need to know about is that for upgrading your firmware from froyo to gingerbread you dont need rooting.. you can do it officially by downloading Samsung Kies or by following the simple steps from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894737
Now after upgrading to gingerbread you can root your phone by following the simple steps using the link as above.
its okay to get confused the first time but follow the amazing simple steps from the above link and it should be just fine

I'm pretty sure they'll see it if you send it in rooted - just un-root it for now and redo it when it comes back

? I thought the root is gone when I just flashed with Odin a new Rom. Aint that right?
U r right when u flash through odin ur root will go..but the custom bin counter will show 1 so make it 0 by using galaxy tool box app..otherwise ur warranty will not b there..

God damn it. I just did the entire process and yes it shows 0 on custom binary count now. But I didnt check if it showed 1 before clearing. So it wasnt that much fun. But probably it was 1 before, right?
Anyway. Thank you VERY MUCH. I wouldnt want to loose the chance for a brand new phone because of a stupid number saved somewhere deep in the jungle of my phone memory.
What I liked very much that i had to root my phone again in order to be able to disguise the fact it is rooted. Its like committing a crime to conceal a crime. Very criminal!
Anyway. What do I do now? Do I have to flash through Odin again to get rid of the root? Because it is still rooted now, right?
u just flash the unroot.zip using following link it works for b5512..no need to flash through odin if u flash through odin then ur custom bin counter will change again.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25140479

OMG that message I got 30 minutes too late. I just flashed with Odin again. But I thought flashing a original Samsung stock Rom is perfectly legal. Isnt it? Also they can figure out easily that I flashed a ROM because the phone is from Greece and came with a Greek keyboard and a greek ROM. I had to flash a European ROM in order to be able to write in normal letters on the keyboard. I dont even have the original ROM any more and its not on the Internet either. So...
Don't you think its fine if I just send it in like it is now? Unrooted with a original Samsung stock ROM?
thanks! i hit the thanks button as well

thanks but not on the list. I think the name of the greek ROM ends with XXKL8. I will call in at Samsung as soon as its business hours and ask them again about it. But I know a Polish guy who asked Polish Samsung about the same thing and he got the answer that flashing a original Samsung ROM does NOT void the warranty.
just do the unrooting process.above...then there you go ...your phone is not rooted now..
