[Q] Jelly Bean MMS / SMS (SecMms) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I messed up... I failed to back up my Mms and lost the apk that I like. It was the Jelly Bean SecMms. I'm running Embryo 6.8 and can't seem to get any version to work that I like. The one I'm looking for is what I believe is Jelly Bean, that has the black background and no balloons. It's really clean.
I have found a couple of Mms.apk files I may like, but I can't get them to work as SecMms.apk. What's the difference and what do I need to do? Any help is much appreciated... I've already spent a few hours on this with no luck!
Anyone have an apk I may be looking for?

Try downloading 4shared and searching it for SecMMS and see what ya find...

Secmms.apk is touchwiz MMS. Mms.apk is for aosp ROMs...like cm10 aokp pacman. Download this and move it to your system folder and then set permissions to rw-r-r and you'll be fine.
*note* may have to reboot after you set permissions.

Stock mms.apk, mod to split long messages?

I am totally stumped here. I have spent the last 4 hours trying to modify stock Mms.apk to ONLY allow 160+ char split messages (but remain otherwise stock). There are other apk's available that fix the split, but they all combine other visual/theme mods... and I like the stock app just the way it is (other than the lack of split).
I don't know what I'm doing, obviously. Mostly I've tried modifying the mms_config.xml file, and the setting I have says it should be working... but it's not. :-( Any tips?
Just for test, I've set:
enableMultipartSMS true
maxMessageTextSize -1
smsToMmsTextThreshold 4
maxMessageSize 307200
(these appear to be the same settings used in the MIUI mms app that work properly there, but not for me!) :-(
Now I am able to send a message over 160char, and it DOES split it into multiple messages, however each message is still gibberish. Aggh... this is driving me crazy.
http://www.theslacker.org/~s3v3n/ns/ns4g/Mms.apk
This gives you the OPTION for visual themes, you can disable/enable the black background; gives a few other options.. but this is pretty much a stock APK to fix the splitting issue
I would try that out, but your post says Deodexed ROM is required, and I'm running Odexed.
Plus I still want to get to the bottom of how to modify the stock mms.apk. :-/
No ideas? Still stumped here.
Bump. Also want to know this.

system/app from Galaxy Nexus (AOKP ROM)

I still have my Galaxy Nexus for a little while so I figured I'll upload the system/app folder from it.
I'm running AOKP rom on it so I'm not sure if that causes any issue or if it affects the system apps
https://www.box.com/s/8fe8698b7cc74dbbd1b6
EDIT: I'm posting this because I see lots of people asking for stock ICS apps...
??
I think he's posting it in case some people want to try swapping out some sense apps for aosp ics ones.
I miss AOKP

Hi thanks man i have installed some off the apps from this but not all off them work..
Like >.
1. Contacts
2. Calculator
i copied and pasted them in to /system/app/
and know i copied and pasted them in to /system/app/app and see what it dose ill update this post in few
i pushed Calendar.apk (renamed it to Calendar1.apk so it wouldn't overwrite the stock version), GoogleCalendar.apk, GoogleDeskClock.apk, Email.apk and Exchange.apk to /system/app. i also made sure the permissions were set as rw-r--r--. all were accessible after reboot. unfortunately, i couldn't edit/modify all of my calendar events with the ASOP calendar versions. email and Desk Clock worked on my device without issue.
How can we install the stock ics phone app?
Is it possible to have ICS folder instead of this HTC customized one?
The folders are built in to the sense framework. The only way to change them is using a different launcher.
Yes,I suppose So.
Has anyone tried the email and exchange apps from this?

Hey is this working for us any tricks etc If I change to 260 just gives me a blank screen? Using CM10.
Works on all ROM's but jelly bean at the moment, and I'm not sure why. Try editing the system file manually and see if it gives you the same problem. I'm running 240 DPI on all my ROM's because the screen looks much better to me that way, but when I flashed jelly bean and tried it didn't work for some reason.
With a quick google search I found the solution. The other apps are outdated. Use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marutian.dpichanger&feature=search_result I will flash CM10 now that I can change the DPI!! Don't worry about the foreign language preview, it runs in english.

Haha Bonus that worked!
By chance know how to recenter the lock screen mine is showing up as follows?
haha you ninja'd my edit. I'm glad it works! I'll try it soon. I'm having such good battery with CM9 I'm not sure if I want to switch yet
I'm getting awesome life with the cm10 don't think I'll go back to cm9:good:
Somebody edited the framework apk and got the lockscreen to be centered. However this was on the galaxy note, I don't know if it'll work on our phones. Flash at your own risk http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30121522&postcount=546 Worst case scenario will be reflash the ROM, or restore to a backup.
Or you can download HOLO locker.. up to you.

AOSP/AOKP MMS.apk with Quick Reply Working on Touchwiz based ROMs!!!

Stumbled upon this recent discovery and just wanted to share the wealth! I extracted the MMS.apk from AOKP build 4 to see if it would work with Touchwiz and it does! Quick reply in the notifications window and all. Install it like any other system app; you'll need to be rooted and have a root explorer:
1. Download MMS.apk from below
2. Move to SD Card
3. ***Backup Touchwiz Messaging App "SecMMS.apk"*** by renaming the file to "SecMMS.apk.bak"
4. Move the downloaded MMS.apk to system/app
5. Fix Permissions to rw-r-r
6. Reboot
7. Hit your dougie or other victory dance of your choosing
I've attached screenshots to show that this is indeed working. The ROM I tried it on is incubus' JellyWiz RLS7 but it should work on any rom. I'm not responsible if you brick your phone or mess up your messaging app but it's pretty straight forward! If you're scared, go to church... or just nandroid :silly:
This is my first "helpful" post so if it's in the wrong section or if I've done something else that may cause WWIII than just let me know and I will fix it. I didn't see any other threads like this one though!
Edit: Didn't test thoroughly enough and as other users have pointed out, it FC's when trying to send or receive a picture message. Still, for someone who likes the quick reply, emoji, look and feel of AOSP, I think that it's a small price to pay. Also, this will ONLY work on Jelly Bean Roms!
Thanks

Where you able to send a pic message
Edit: FC when trying to send a mms
You should probably add that this will only work on jellybean based roms.
Edit: i'd like to point out that this isn't the most recent version of CM's messaging app. It's missing a lot of the things that they added.

it crashes when you send or recieve mms
Would love to have this though! Its a start...
I've been trying to get this to work since the day I bought the phone. I was using (and still am on my work phone) an inverted AOSP MMS.apk that I just absolutely dig. I was sad when it didn't work on Touchwiz ROMS.
I dug a bit deeper. I got to where you guys were at, I managed to get it to install on a JB TW ROM but it crashed on MMS, just as you all are experiencing. I dug deeper.
I next tried a logcat to see if I could sniff out the issue. Nothing was glaringly obvious as being the issue. I even went so far as to Pastebin it for a well known dev on here, and he pointed it to it being the Gallery as being the issue. Since it's an AOSP app, it was probably looking for an AOSP Gallery. So I tried that. I replaced the TW Gallery with the AOSP Gallery. Still, nothing. The dev hasn't had time to really help me out since, he's a pretty busy guy and isn't even supporting the device, he was more helping me since we're more friends than anything else.
I'm going to see if I can get ahold of another dev on here and see if he can spare some time to help. Problem is, he doesn't have this phone, but I do believe he has a Galaxy Note, or the Skyrocket. I PM'd a few devs supporting our phone with ROM's to ask if they could help, and I didn't receive a response. If anyone knows anyone who can help, I'd be glad to pass along what I have.
I would REALLY like to get this working on TW ROM's. I'd settle for the old school AOSP inverted one I'm using, but the CM/AOKP one is probably pretty similar.
I managed to get an ICS, AKA non Quick Reply version, working with TW builds. Should work with any ICS/JB builds. The file is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1921429
Can someone tell me wat im doing wrong or wat exactly im missing...i followed the instructions and the app itself is working but it's not popping up

Thanks. Seems to work fine on stock/rooted TW. No QuickReply, but I think QuickMessage doesn't woked that well in CM10 anyway. I use SMS Popup from the Market.
