[Q] Want to replace SD card , (JaggyRom) - HTC Pico (Explorer)

Hey , I am using custom rom (Jaggy Rom) on my HTC explorer, its working perfectly. I am using 2GB card, but where is my 512 mb gone i mean , apps are automatically installed in SD-card but in FAT partition, so question is what is ext-4 partition for? Where it is used?
And 2ndly i am also planning to change my sd-card from 2gb to 4gb, can u help plz. Thanx

if you have created a partition in the SD card you need to use a memory increasing script like Mount2SD or Ungaze...when you install this script the 512MB of the ext-4 partition will show up as your phone's internal memory.

Thanks for reply, mount2SD is preinstalled in jaggyrom 4.1, and will you help me on changing my SD card?

and how can i confirm if apps are installing on SD card. Mount2SD is installed, and i think script is working , because my phone is showing constant internal memory on installing apps (i.e about 160 mb even if i install apps or uninstall them)

changing your SD card as in? what are you asking, please be clear...
and in Mount2SD it usually shows the partition memory added up in the internal memory.I haven't installed Jaggyrom anytime but i have used Mount2SD and it always showed me the partition memory as a part of my internal memory....so not sure what's wrong.
Download disk usage app from play store..it will show how much memory is used in your SD card as well as your internal memory..just so you will get a clear idea

Changing my SD cards mean i want to switch the card, i m using 2gb currently and i want to replace with 4gb or 8gb

If you want to replace it make sure you buy a class 10 SD card..because most of people using sense based ROM are experiencing random reboots with class 4 SD cards...class 10 SD cards are much faster while transfering files...I would recommend 8GB class 10 SD card.

Alright but i have installed custom rom. When i take out my card from phone it dosn't works, and i want to copy previous sd-ext partition data to new card can u help how can i

I don't think so that any of the CWM or TWRP recovery supports the back-up of SD-ext..I would rather recommend you to use Titanium back-up to create back-up of all your current apps and than transfer the titanium back-up folder in your SD-card to your PC/laptop and than insert your new SD card and paste that titanium back-up folder which contains the back of all your apps (including apps in SD-ext) and download the titanium back-up app via play store and restore those apps.

Well thanx, What if i clone/copy my old ext partition to my new card's ext partition?

I don't think that will work. the best option you have is to make a titanium backup. if you don't wanna do that then save your sd card data ( data in fat 32 partition) and paste that in your new card. it will save you game progress, but titanium backup is the best way to go.

Well, that means i have to make a titanium backup and thn again install the custom rom i wil lose my settings

help Backing up Sd to a bigger sd card

I did all the steps to move apps, cache, data to my sd card for the G1 phone and everything is working good but I want to backup everything on a bigger sd card and I also noticed that even if I use a new partitioned fat32 and ext2 sd card it wont boot, can any one tell me how to backup all my sd card please thank you
Hi,
When I upgraded to a bigger card, I did this:
1-copy current sdcard to computer.
2-backup your apps with astro
3-delete all caches on phone.
4-move apps and caches back to phone.
5-format new sdcard with a ext2 partition.
6-copy sdcard data from computer to new sdcard.
7-transfer apps and caches back to sdcard.
8-reinstall all apps with astro.
You should be good to go.

miui v10.4 apps not moving to external sd HELP!!!

Hello everyone...
this is my first post on xda since i couldnt find any solution if i'm at fault kindly bear with me
1. i flashed my gt i9003 with miui v10.4 a week ago and everything was going fine
2. but today i suddenly got a notification that my storage was full
3. when i checked i noticed that the apps i installed were on internal sd card which is just 2gb(1.7gb usable)
4. i tried moving some apps which were installed on phone memory only to see them move to internal sd card.
5. i have a 32 gb external sd card which is visible in file explorer and i can browse the files but the apps when moved from phone memory doesnt move to external sd card.
6. kindly help me out with the above issue where i can move the apps i installed on phone memory to external sd card so that i can use it for installing games and not limit its usage to just songs and videos.
7. thank you
As much as i have used miui-gb i think external sd sometimes stay as external_sd folder only...try to format or reflash the rom.
As phone is having 1.85 gb of internal memory why dont u use it until it doesnt get full ???
U can use sd swap which will interchange internal and external sd.

[Q] phone internal memory full. How to move apps to sd card ext. partition?

I have partitioned my sd card in ext. format for more space. And have the internal memory full but there is still a lot of space on the sd card ext. Partition for apps. I just want to move the apps from internal memory to this partition so that my apps work fine and i have my internal memory with free space.
The problem might seem easy to solve. Just by deleting or moving apps from internal memory, but for me its complicated because i don't know which apps are stored on the internal memory and the sd card partition for a2sd... In the apps storage all the apps are shown together without showing which is on the sd ext. partition and which on phone's internal memory. i don't know to move the apps from phone memory to sd card partitioned memory. Any help is appreciated

Use app2sd from play store

Either do as suggested above, or download ROM Toolbox and under App Manager, you can move apps to the SD card and set applications as system apps aswell.

I tried them but my prob is i need to delete or move apps from internal memory... And when i delete any app there is more space freed on sd ext not internal memory. I need to know which apps are stored on the internal memory. Which i can't seem to know

[Q] how to manage internal space, phone space and sd card

I have a 1GB RAM + 4GB ROM phone, and I added a 16GB sd card. I heard the backup/recovery cannot include the sd card. So that means all programs should be installed in the internal space and phone space, which is where that 4GB ROM is. 4GB seems not enough then.
I know may people move apps from internal space and phone space to sd card. If we cannot backup/recovery the sd card, how can we restore to the original state when something bad happened?
How do you manage your space of your phone?
I think some ' file manager ' from Google play store will help you
To be honest I store all my backups on my SD card using astro file manager then move them I us titanium backup to then create a update zip file just in case ever other week, then on top of that I sending all backups and update zip file to dropbox so I have easy access anywhere I go.. reason for the backups on dropbox is I always have a friend looking for an old copy a program

Could someone explain why my phone is not utilising its device storage?

As you can see in the attachment, it is very problematic for me, I do not understand why I am not able to use the device storage and why everything that I download goes to internal storage, is my device storage actually just RAM?? It makes installing apps nearly impossible and I keep getting constant reminders that I have low memory

Use Total Commander as file manager. It will give you a better overview
Your apps are stored on the internal storage. Thats only about 1GB. Internal and external SD CARD can not be used to install apps on it. For using SD CARD to store apps use Link2SD. For using Link2SD you will have to spli8t one of your sc cards. Must beformated as followed:
1. partition Fat32
2. partition Ext4
Both partitions must be primary. Use Partition Wizard to prepare your sd card.
