Hi
What ROM?
And do u mean just for notifications or literally entirely.
(I could see ur point if u do since I use the navigation bar for everything now)
But yes to both:
For notifications use NS tools app.
For "entirely" ID have to verify what to do so let me get back to U.
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2

But i wanna use pie or nav bar control, and really irritating the soft keys light

Did you even try searching for one? I remember someone posted the exact same question and I responded to them giving them the files, so if you search for one you'll find it.

Just download the NSTools app from the Play Store and turn on backlight dimmer and set the delay to 0 ms.
For notifications turn on the backlight notifications too.

Everyday im finding out maybe samsung didnt do too bad on this phone.. i have a vibrant and swore to never get another samsung phone.. but im ordering this next week i hated the button layout cause in portrait hitting home at the top is kinda funky but with the holding back button feature im feeling okay about this phone. Thanks a ton

Ya that was my one thing I didn't like. But once I figured out the back button I don't have any problems with the phone at the moment. Samsung did a really nice job on this phone

Holding down Home will open the notification panel (good I guess if you are using apps in full screen?)
Make sure you set up your jump shortcuts! They are awesome to have
Something I missed at first: There is a small arrow on the right side of the universal composer in the notification panel (where you'd update your twitter/fb) -- if you click the arrw, you'll get toggles for wifi, bluetooth, gps, silent, and auto rotation.
JUMP + R!
My favorite feature! The JUMP + R combo! If you haven't tried it, check it out. I don't know what it will do for you, but it frustrated ME!

Jump + R opens up the Jump menu screen for me because "R" isn't a previously assigned shortcut.... ?
Did you try assigning JUMP + R to anything? ;-)

Thats what I am saying, I dont have anything assigned to it, so it doesn't do anything. You made it sound like it was going to do something hidden!
Since you don't get my humor, and obvioulsy haven't tried it yourself, I'll spell it out for you... there is NO JUMP + R. They forgot the 'R' in the jump menu list. I guess you can say it IS hidden.

LMAO, sorry. Too much vodka? Too little sleep? I'm just like "seriously it wont do anything until I actually assign it, geez!"
But you're right - how weird. I wonder if they did that intentionally?!
Hope I'm not ruining a joke or anything, but when I hit Jump + R, my phone reboots. And I definitely didn't set it up to do that.
More specifically, it vibrates, then does 2 quick vibrations after a moment, and then after a few more seconds reboots.
I have a similar problem but mines not with JUMP +R it just randomly does the vibrate and reboot thing.
Haven't set jump keys yet. But just found the toggle switches on the notification bar. Haven't found ay other "hidden" features yet.

Anyway to disable the capacitive button lights?

I read that CM7 will supposedly let you turn off the button lights (back, menu, search, and home), but is there a way to turn them off without it? Thanks.
Are you using a custom kernel with backlight notifications? Or do you just want the lights off all the time? If you are using a custom kernel with BLN you can use BLN Control from the market to disable backlight notifications.
I'm using it stock and want the 4 cap. button lights to turn off after a few seconds so I can watch videos in the dark (or have an app that I start that turns off the lights before I watch a movie).
Does BLN also disable capacitivte button lights (not just backlight notifications)? Are there other non custom rom solutions?
Backlight dimmer (BLD), one of Ezekeel's mods does this. It disables the capacitive buttons after x amount of time (variable you can set freely). But you need a custom kernel for this to work, not a custom rom. Check the developer section, most new kernel versions support BLD. Then, you can download NSTools from the market to set and configure the functionality.
BLN is only for notifications and blinking normally so it's not what you're looking for.

Awesome, that's actually even better. One question though, once the buttons/lights are disabled how are they re-enabled? Simply touching the screen? Thanks.
nope they'll stay off if you touch the screen. you have to touch the buttons themselves to get them to relight

Oh ok, perfect. thanks
Can someone point me to the correct file to download here for installing BLD:

As a clarification, the feature is not available on 7.1.0.1 but only in the nightly later nightly builds. However, if you're running the stable mod, a workaround is to use Spark Mod Manager.

same question, any app cant wake up phone by volume button ?
i used LightLock to light on htc chacha proximity sensor, but it's not convenient.
Good question that, my keyboard is always going dark just when I don't want it to/when I'm typing.
sent usin' tapatalk innit.
I found Keyboard Backlight Controller on market but it doesn't work on chacha
nobody care about using another key to wake up htc chacha ????????
Solution~
you can just hit the app icon to switch keypad backlight between
off mode
and
system control mode
The application works!
I'm always a bit suspicious of these kind of things coupled with Chinese writing when it's run-but avg was happy and when it asks for root I've allowed but not "remembered" the permission. Yet.
Thanks

the best way is holding finger on sensor...:cyclops::good:
The best way is to decompile framework-res.apk and edit /res/values/arrays.xml
There are stored backlight settings and you can edit them to stay on all the time, or on any level you want.
And then compile apk and push it to system/framework

[Q] wake up screen when notification arrives

hi, there is an app or a mod\tweaks that allow to turn on the screen (without unlock) when a notification arrives and when the screen turns off (after 5/6 seconds) the led continue to blink until the notification will read?? I use ROM based on 4.2.2. I found SCREEN NOTIFICATION (on play store) works but... when the screen turns off the LED stop to blink!!!!:crying:
thanks for the advice! :fingers-crossed:

I know there's options in Tweaks when you have a custom ROM on a rooted phone. However, give this a whirl! It's completely free from the play store: look up SMS WakeUp it sounds like what you're looking for, not sure if it does the notification light like you wanted, but i'd imagine it would. I haven't posted more than 10 posts here, otherwise I'd post the link here.
Let me know if it works.
With Tasker you can do that, I think, in Secure Settings plugin there is an option to wake up the screen, and as I remember, there is also a function to let the led blink.

There isn t any ROM tweaks. And SMS wakeup doesn t let the led blinking when the screen turn off.
Profile is activated when notification comes in, then if Screen is off -> Secure Settings Screen on, wait 5 seconds and Notify LED. Maybe you can add something that the Notification will be deleted when read. This is just created on my mind, if I knew how to export a profile I will try to do one for you

[Q] Control touch key backlight effectively?

Hi all It might not sound wise but I just got myself an second hand Infuse 4G for a nice price, and like every device I've owned, got CM running on it in hours. However, there's something that bugs me for a bit, and that is the touch key backlight.
On other devices I have, CM's Settings-Buttons part controls touch key backlight well, leaving it on for whatever duration or turning it off. But on all ROMs I've tried till now (CM10, CM10.2, CM11), either this option is absent (CM10's Infuse Settings is incomplete), or the option doesn't work properly:
1) When I set the keys to light up, they don't light up automatically when I wake the phone up from sleep, I'll have to press the keys to activate them.
2) When I turn the light off, the light indeed goes off immediately, but when I press any of the keys, they come back to life again and simply stay on, ignoring the settings.
I remembered that on many HTC phones there was a way to manually control button backlight behavior by altering values of a certain file in /sys/class/..., so after some work, I found the file: /sys/devices/virtual/misc/melfas_touchkey/brightness, and indeed, setting it to 0 will make the light go off. The thing that doesn't work out is that it won't persist - pressing any of the keys still make the light come back. I've set the permission to 0444 and even made a init.d script for that, and I can guarantee that the script itself is working properly, but still it can't keep the light under control... And now I'm stuck.
1) Is there a way to make the option in Infuse Settings or Settings-Buttons work as they should?
2) Any separate app that could also do this?
3) Why won't my manual adjustment persist?
Answering any of these questions would be of help, thank you in advance!

As far as I know, the Infuse hasn't had effective backlight control since Gingerbread. If you wanna go back to that, it should work fine. Otherwise, all of the newer ROMs are using an outdated kernel that doesn't support backlight control. I highly doubt we will see it working again since very few people are still using the Infuse.

The Infuse supports backlight control in gingerbread. In order to use it, you'll have to download a third party app in the play store. I don't think CM7 will support it either.
