Hi,
I am trying to install CM 10.1 on HTC One X and seem to be stuck in the last step. Need help.
I already have:
1. unlocked the bootloader following instructions at htcdev
2. flashed clockworkmod recovery ver 5.8.4.0
3. transferred CM 10.1 & gapps to /sdcard
I am able to:
1. boot into clockwork recovery
2. wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache
3. install CM 10.1 & gapps zip from /sdcard
Everything seems to be fine so far. Next, when I reboot the phone & it remains stuck on the white ('quietly brilliant') screen.
I then:
1. get into fastboot (vol down + power key)
2. transfer the boot image taken from CM 10.1 zip (./fastboot flash boot boot.img)
3. reboot the phone
It still remains stuck on the white ('quietly brilliant') screen.
What could be the problem? Tried multiple times but no luck.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately I seem to have lost the original backup so the phone is essentially bricked if I cannot get out of this!!!!
Regards,
Sachin

I should have updated the post.
It turned out to be a bad zip. I switched to another ROM & it worked.
So try out some other ROM & let me know if you still have a problem.

Hi to all! I did a big mistake and now don't know what to do. I had cyanogen mod 7 RC1 installed, but wanted to go back to my original froyo. I did all these steps
Install ClockworkMod recovery (using fastboot is the easiest way).
Boot into recovery using the 3-button combo
Do a backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
Install the ROM from the SD card using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon

, but when I tried to install the old os, my ohone showed something like "bad" and didn't want to install it. Now I'm stuck with no solutions. When I try to boot into recovery it just shows "update failed" and cannot proceed. Now what?
Thanks in advance!
Well, I was able to boot normal finally. I think I'm going to repair it now!
Was trying to flash the ICS ROM V5 but it got stuck on the boot animation. I did a factory reset, surprisingly it was still there. So i used "Team Win Recovery Project" aka "twrp-crespo-2[DOT]0[DOT]0RC0[DOT]img" in nexusshacks.com. I went in there to do a factory reset but i wiped the ACTUAL system instead. So when i reboot i am stuck on Google. Unfortunely i only had 1 back up which is in ClockworkMod, but i cant access that. I dont mind my lost files because i can recover that but i want my phone to work again. Can i copy the nexus s contents from another nexus s and place it in my SD and will it work? If you guys have ideas please do reply because i need my phone fixed asap. Bootloader unlocked and rooted using superuser.

okay,am not very familiar with TWRP but your problem doesn't seem that big,you wiped the /system which should not affect your USB storage data (even if you wiped the USB storage it's not a problem),try to boot into the bootloader (volume up + power button) then go to recovery, mount the USB storage and put a ROM on it,then just flash the ROM and your device should boot up normally,i think you weren't stuck at the bootanimation since when you flash a new ROM the first boot could take from 5 to 10 minutes.
i usually do a clean install before flashing a new ROM (format system, data, cache, boot) and the device just boot up normally after flashing the new ROM so it's not a problem if you wiped your system just flash a new ROM.

I did this same thing a few weeks ago. I just had to reinstall everything (including the recovery) from fastboot. Worked like a charm.
I used the nexusshack tut to root my nexus had no problems.
You could go into recovery, mount usb storage, find the clockworkmod directory and copy that to your pc..
do a full data wipe and flash a new rom, then install rom manager flash CWM recovery . move the clockworkmod directory back to your phone. boot into recovery and restore you backup.
Just an idea .. not sure if it could work..(take no responsibility is it doesnt)
I have a rooted phone, with flash cwm recovery (latest), and used the proper boot.img file for that ROM.
I have tried wiping everything (date, cache, dalvik, etc).
When I turn on the phone it goes past the HTC logo, but it stays on the current ROM's logo. It just doesn't go past that.
Any way of fixing this? Thanks in advance.

Relock your phone and Fine your RRU Update after that
Use this Tool to ROOT!!:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604677
Then Root your phone again and you should have no problem after that
If I was you ill use TWRP Recovery its better then CWM
[SOLVED]
I solved the problem using another method! Thanks everyone for answer this thread though

For those searching for a solution of this issue this is what I did to solve the problem:
You need to download twrp boot img ...fastboot flash recovery (recovery name)
wipe factory reset, system, and both caches all x3 then proceed to install
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
Go into twrp recovery
Flash ROM
Erase both caches (Cache and Dalvik)
On your CPU go to the zip, open it... right click on boot IMG choose extract to where you have your fastboot.
Go into fastboot
Fastboot flash boot (your boot IMG)
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot
Wait a few mins... if no boot put back in recovery erase both caches manually then reboot system....this will work
Thanks to $droyd$. All credits go to him
Hi,
This is the first time i'm installing a custom rom on my One X (international) and every rom I tried takes too long (15min) to boot up and then i actually give up and try something else
I've tried:
CM10
ICJ 1.6
and some others but they keep getting stuck at htc logo screen
Can somebody help me out and tell me what i'm doing wrong?
This is what I do:
I've rooted and unlocked bootloader
1) go into fastboot
2) flash boot.img
3) go to recovery
4) wipe cache and dalvik cache
5) install rom with recovery
6) wipe cache and dalvik cache
7) install gapps
8) wipe cache and dalvik cache
9) reboot
That is the procedure i saw on many threads and sites.
Problems?:
One thing i noticed was that when going to HBOOT I get the following: failed to open usb master mode
Roms that did work
Android Revolution HD 18.1 and 9.8, I think that's because of the aroma installer and I don't have to do anything
Any help is greatly appreciated. Have been searching everywhere for 2 days know and can't figure it out
Wrong forum that is not our phone

My galaxy tab was rooted and i Just installed clock work mod recovery and i tried to flash a custom ROM that was proven to work and now its stuck in a boot loop were i just see the galaxy tab logo on start up, then it shuts off. I have tried at least 5 different roms with no success. Does anyone know a fix to this? One of the roms was a aosp ROM and it got the furthest. it got past the galaxy tab logo and to its android loading logo, but it froze and restarted. This is really frustrating and i would just like a fix. anyone?
Thanks,
Zach

my brother almost rom for proper functionality before flashing requires you to wipe cache and factory reset and dalvik cache wipe
i think you did not perform it
also as now you are on boot loop if you are able to boot into recovery you can try to do these things it may work or you may boot in rom
also if not possible you can then flash stock rom through odin
also after flashing stock rom you will stuck o samsng logo so dont panic and reboot into recovery and wipe factory reset and cache partiiton and reboot { just these two things }
hope i helped and you tab gets working again :good::good:

Hi, I whenever i perform a factory reset and device wipe, it restarts the tablet. Im not exactly sure how to flash a ROM through odin, I have used it tho.
Also, all the links to my tablets (p5113) roms are broken. Do you know of any working ones?
Thanks,
Zach:laugh:
For P5113 you can use P5110 Rom´s - IR included to support P5113
For KitKat-Roms you need to use one of the latest recovery´s - else you´ll get "Error 7".
And don´t forget
"format /system" before flashing too

Am i suppose to format the system in CWM? whenever i do this, the tablet shuts off.
Is that suppose to happen?
Thanks,
Zach

Sorry if I'm intruding (I own the P5100) I have the same problem of bootloop, I've done the reset (also the / system) but as soon as I install the latest nightly of CM 11 7 gives me this error (Error 7), what should I do?
All of this has happened to me for a simple update to version

Error 7 means your recovery needs to be updated. Look at Android-Andi's signature, he has links to proper recoveries.

Help
Hello, I have been trying to work with formating data and stuff but whenever i do cwm crashes so i tried switching to TWRP and it also crashes when trying todo anything with storage.
Any fixes?
I just want some type of android back on my tablet.
Disregard above. I am now able to format and install roms but whenever i reboot it goes back into TWRP. Any ideas why?
Thanks,
Zach
What device do you own?
Wipe Data factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvic cache
format /system
flash rom
reboot
