I'm usually able to solve any issues on my device with the great info here @ XDA, but I'm stumped and hoping someone can help.
Every 4.2.X ROM I flash has a voicemail notification issue. The voicemail notification icon will not appear unless I reboot my phone. It won't disappear after listening unless I reboot or go into app info and close it. Currently I'm using the latest Hellybean, and I love it. But it has this same issue.
Also, on this ROM I cannot change my voicemail number from *86. On some ROMs (I.e. SlimBean 4.2.2) the vmail is changed automatically on install of rom.
Any thoughts or fixes for the notification and/or vmail issues? Any direction is greatly appreciated!

I can only give a me too. Icon gets stuck (and not even turned on right away). Cannot change voicemail number from *86. Also using Hellybean.
Sorry, no answers, but at least it's not just you.

Yeah, I'm hearing that same issue on a few 4.2.2 threads. So u guys r on alone.
Try Google voice if want. It doesn't fail me ... It actually saves me since I'm always changing or updating ROMs so my voicemail & SMS are never missed.
Good luck

As the title says I'm having a problem with receiving text messages. But here's the thing, I will get most of my messages. For example yesterday I didnt receive two, and the day before was the same thing I didnt receive one message. I noticed this about 2 or 3 weeks ago. The reason why I know I'm not receiving any is because I told a couple friends about my problem, and if for some reason I'm not answering back or I ask the question again, they will say they sent me a message.
But its not like I'm not receiving any messages, it just happens to be 1 or 2 every now and then. I dont get whats wrong.
Is it T-mobile?
My nexus S?
My ROM? (NS Collab 1.0.12)
My Kernel? (Netarchy 1.3.0.0)
Anyone else experiencing something similar??
I had this same problem. Was never able to figure out what it was, but flashing to a stock rom or near stock rom solved it.

What ROM were you running before? The ROM I'm using is based off of CM7 nightly #28 right now
CM7 or CM7-based.

Are you running any task killer? If so, uninstall it from your phone and see what happens next

In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information.
You need to re-enter the SMSC Carrier number for your carrier in Hex.

Sorry. I'm not to phone savvy when it comes into this detail.
So I am running the latest release of Das BAMF 2.0 and I got a call from my supervisor the other night during a TV show I was watching, so I let it go to voicemail. Well he left me a voicemail, but I didn't get a notification for it until some 12-15 hours later. Thankfully I texted him to ask what he wanted, or I would have been in a lot of trouble . Anyone else have any issues with this?
Yep, I have the same issue.
I had that happen but seems it was only a one-time thing. I have been getting my voicemail notifications right on time after the call comes in ever since that one time.
Does this seem to be a consistent thing or was that the only time it happened? Might be isolated like my experience. I've had this happen on other phones to, I just assumed it was a glitch on VZW's network.
I'm on BAMF 2.0-4.01 with the "modded test7" kernel and the GB radio
voicemail issues
I have similar issues, I received the voicemail after restarting the phone, I didn't even know I had a voicemail...also, after listening the message, the voicemail icon doesn't disappear. It happen the last two days, consistently.
Same problem here. It will show up or clear after a reboot but no other time.
Running BAMF ginger sense preview 4, and the MR2 radio. I have tried a few roms and it seems to be an issue with the radio.
just go to stock verizon voicemail no problems there
Not quite sure what you mean. I'm not using visual voicemail or anything like that, thanks.
I just posted this same problem on the Bamf 3.0 RC4 thread. I have had this happen several times where I don't get the voicemail notification until after I reboot, and then the icon never goes away until after a reboot.
Same issue on GingerRemix 2.1

It happens on all GB roms. You can either pay $6/mo to use the vzw voicemail app, or reboot phone when you miss a call. I'm cheap, so I'll settle for the latter

Or use Google voice

Or instead of rebooting you can just manually check your voicemail if you missed a call. That is what I do

You should ask this in the CM10.1 thread since it's a ROM specific issue. No sense in making a new thread on this. You will probably get a better and quicker response there.

Hey all,
So I'm wondering what everyone (that is using cm11) are using for their voicemail as Cyanogens don't come with an app for it. I know there are 3rd party options like Google Voice etc but I really liked the one sprint has. I've downloaded several of the sprint APK's (possibly not for my phone model though) that have been posted and while they do install and work....sometimes.
All too often though when the voicemail ends and i press the back button my phone makes incredibly loud 56k modem-like sounds including long high pitched tones and just plain crazy ass ****!
This will continue for about 15 seconds until I hard reset the phone (or possibly forever but I've only been able to take 15 seconds of it before I'm forced to shut it down or smash it).
Does anyone know why this could be happening?
Does anyone have an APK for sprint VVM or just the plain stock voicemail app?
I'm willing to try another apk if it is specifically for the xt897c but now that my model is xt897 because of cm 11 would that cause an incompatibility?
Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have tried searching the forums for a few weeks now but haven't been able to find a resolution.
Youmail does the same thing

If you look in the theemes and apps section you will find tthe sprint vvm apk ,I am useing cm 11 and the apk from there and it is working great

Hmmm... alright i'll take another look there. So you don't ever get the high pitched tones and scratching sounds bug thing with that? Would you mind linking me the one you're using? I would really appreciate it just so I can be certain i get the right one.
Here you go

Thanks bud. Appreciate the extra effort! Installed it but getting FC with it so far so I may need to do a fresh cm 11 when the next nightly is out.
Sort of on topic question, when you use this vm app do you receive a text from a 4 digit number telling you to call some other number (verified through sprint tech on the phone that the area code isn't used by sprint so it must be 3rd party but I've tried 4-5 completely fresh/clean rom installations and everytime I get a version of sprints apk I start getting those strange texts instead of the regular vm notification.
I definitely don't need a text telling me to call some 10 digit number everytime I get a vm lol. I'm asking you guys because I think its probably something on my account and not the phone but so far none of the tech support staff I've spoken with can figure it out.
Btw did you qr, apk, or zip install the app?

i have the exact same issue as slim brady high pitched modem sounds and annoying notifications and i also used the file found in the thread referenced above for install and also am running cm11 nightly. there has to be a fix for this ???????????

Yes I get tho strange texts also.

Has anyone got Sprint VVM voicemail working on a kit kat rom?
Has anyone experienced the following with their N5?
When phone is in deep sleep calls go straight to voicemail. Sometimes only a reboot can enable incoming calls. I'm on Sprint, custom ROM cyanogenmod 11.

I would flash cm again. Be sure to wipe cache first, people forget to do that sometimes and it causes problems with cm.

Thanks I will try that, but I've read from another forum that it's a software issue with the device itself and Google is aware of it.
Its the sprint LTE handoff. I have the same problems in certain LTE areas.
If u need it to receive calls u can toggle it to 3g and it will work fine

Most of the times when it occurs I'm on WiFi.
I also read that users from other carriers are facing the same problem, which leads me to deduct that it may have to do with the phone itself.
