Impressive on Galaxy S4 new features and apps, gotta transfer from my GS3 soon, also will choose a protective case to cover the sole disadvantages of the plastic battery cover, Galaxy S4 back cover and flip case could both do good job on the protection, yet the back cover don't protect the screen or you need another extra screen protector and which is not sure of a good protection on unexpected shocks(it's a good idea if your screen protector is only for dusts, fingerprints, scratches),if comes to flip case,it brings some extra convenience for the daily cards and offers perfect protection on both battery cover and screen, yet sometimes seems the flip cover a wired one esp. talking on the phone, all the others' could be a good solution besides of this such as this side flip case...

Hey, buddy, i will strong recommend the flip leather case for you brand-new S4 i9500 which provides the full protection for your gadget. haha, but i still bought a back cover case from DSstyles as i think more convenient for me to use. seems i have no idea which one do you prefer? haha http://www.dsstyles.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-cases.html
Flip Cover case will do. It will completely protect your phone.
If I get the S4, it's my favorite so far, I'm going to get the S Case with its window.

I'll get a Nilkin or Poetic flip, I expect for under a tenner the flip will save any need for a screen protector thus making my phone nicer to use.
Had the Flip Cover on my old S3 that past away. I am definitely getting the S View Cover for my S4!

Apparently the flip case will do better job, which protect on both battery cover and screen, the flip cover seems a more fashion style...yet here I'm meaning of the cheap fake leather case which even makes the high-end GS4 a cheap one, even ruin your GS4 impression....get to know a case brand named HOCO and there is a duke series leather flip case sounds of some classical impression, yet no reviews on HOCO case so far and not sure of the real performance .....

To the OP, I like the pictures of the last flip case because it is a full case.
Flip case protect screen better than Back cover...

Is there a leather full case out there (from the OP) that has the Window cut out on the front? That would definitely get my money.

Not sure if third party companies will be able to utilise the S-View functionality (window showing notifications) which is integrated with the official Samsung S View case otherwise it wouldn't be worth the £45 Samsung are selling it out.
Flip book with Indication window open (Smart Cover Function) is ideal case for Samsung Galaxy S 4.

Yes, the smart cover function seems a must feature for Galaxy S4, yet sorry to know that many flip case don't have such functions so far even include some popular brand such as HOCO,iCarer,Kalaideng etc.
Yet according to the news from market, flip case from Nillkin,ROCK,Benks,Baseus,Momax, have great smart cover function.
HOCO iCarer Kalaideng may be of smart function yet now have no latest news from them.

Hello 8.9 users . I know a lot of people prefer leather cases or smart covers, but what i am looking for is a good soft neoprene case that will protect my tab against eventual drops or scratches, when i'm carrying it around. I don't like the ones where you have to stretch them to get the tab inside, and i much prefer the ones with a zip on the side.
I was thinking of getting something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Slim-Ne...ltDomain_0&hash=item337143b173#ht_1152wt_1396 but it ships from USA and i don't like the shipping costs and delivery time. The other thing, it lists as a case for tab 10.1 too, that means the 8.9 will probably "swim" in it a little bit. Can anyone confirm this?
Has anyone found something similar to this one (or better), that is preferably shipping from Europe? Please do share what kind of neoprene case did you get for your 8.9.
Can't be that no one likes neoprene?
Yah...most cases are leather or pleather. =) Here are a couple links that might help.

iLuv ISS2102 Case for web Tablet:
http://www.amazon.com/iLuv-Padded-Neoprene-8-9-Inch-Samsung/dp/B005JK62T4
I am planning on getting the Belkin Leather case. They make a neoprene one though too. I don't think you will have too many options other than maybe making one for a DIY project. In the long run though it maybe cheaper just to the pay the shipping and get what you want. Time is money!
Make your own tablet case:

What is the shipping like for you over seas?
I just picked up this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/29064036495...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_5130wt_952
It fits perfect. The Model is the A7s. Ignore the models specifically labeled "8.9", they're too big. The A7s fits perfect with no stretching. It's not neoprene, but a kind of pleather. However, it has a memory foam layer that makes it very cushy. It zips all the way open on three sides. I also got this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Case-for-Ga...Accessories&hash=item45ffdeff77#ht_2358wt_814 which also fits perfectly. When the plastic cover is on, it still fits great in the memory foam case.

Looks good. Can you post pictures when you get everything all set up?
Here's an ebay post with a different colored plastic cover, but is the same thing. More pictures. www.ebay.com/itm/Galaxy-Tab-8-9-P73...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item3a702df2dd. As far as the case, it looks pretty much identical to the pictures in the listing. The fit is exact for The 8.9. There is no extra space, either height or width.
I might be a lil late here, but I just recieved the following case, and love it.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006WBVU50/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/192-3119395-3706453
most of the cases i picked up were for all galaxy devices so my tablet has a lot of free space to bounced around.
Just wanna let you guys know that i recently got the iLuv sleeve for my 8.9. If you want neoprene and whole lot of protection and soft materials, stop looking, because this is the best one. It fits perfectly, no bouncing around. Payed 24 euros for it, but it's worth it.
Has little triangles on both sides, that add to overall rigidity and extra protection if it accidentally drops, since they soak up the impact. It also has a pocket on the outside, where you can put your smartphone or other accessories. All in all, it's a very nice and high quality sleeve, i'm very happy with it. Here are some photos:

In searching Amazon for an official Samsung book cover case I found what appears to be a knockoff or perhaps it's made by the OEM that Samsung uses: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1KNZ8FERCP30DDYXKP98
From the pictures I've seen of the Samsung case, this seems to be functionally the same. Without having seen the original in person I can't say if they are identical. I was lucky enough to have gotten mine for $18.99, but even at its current $34.99, it is a bit cheaper than the Samsung branded version. I'm not quite sure if I would be happy with it at the higher price point. I'm gonna try it out for a while, then decide whether to switch back to my Vipertek case.
One thing to look out for at the Amazon page: quite a few of the reviews for this product appear to be for a different case and in fact the seller first sent me a case that was identical to my Vipertek. The seller quickly rectified the problem, but I'm curious as to how many people may have received a product different from what they actually ordered without catching on.

I have a ViperTEK case, and I think the Acase is identical.
The pictures on the first ebay link are definitely not from a 8.9 or 10.1. The camera location looks like it would fit an original Galaxy Tab.
B
Yeah I asked the seller about that. He said the first two top pictures are the right one and the rest of the pictures are a mistake. He said it is definitely for the 8.9. How is the vipertek case? Is it real leather or at least feels like real leather? Newegg is out of stock and amazon won't ship to Canada.
The vipertek case is fine. It is not real leather, but I have no complaints with the presentation. The multi-angle viewing works well, and is a nice feature. My only problem is that it is quite thick when closed. I also have one of the iPad smart case knockoffs, and while much thinner, there is nothing to keep the cover closed and it tends to flop around.
I think I am going to get rid of both to get the MoKo or the OEM Samsung book case.
B
Here's my opinion on the Moko case after some use:
Pros - it's thinner than the Vipertek type cases
- it holds the tablet only at the 4 corners, as opposed to the 2 extra clips on the V-tek
Cons - flap must be left open for charging
- when fully closed the power button can be accidentally pressed or held down. Would be better if it had cutouts like the Samsung case
- cheaper looking and plasticy
- doesn't feel as secure in my right hand when held in portrait
It was cheap, so I'm gonna try cutting out for the power button and possibly the charger.

Do you prefer the moko case over the vipertek? I might get the original samsung book case if it is better than the acase even if it is pricey

It looks very similar, except for the earphone cutout (the original lets you open the cover while the earphones are still plugged in), and the cutout for the power button.
The power button cutout is quite important I think, not to turn on the tablet when it's shut, but to avoid the case from turning the tablet on. When this style of case first came out with the Tab 10.1, it didn't have a power button cutout. Some reviewers commented that when they put the tab into their bag, the power button would be pressed and held down causing weird behaviour, like the tab not turning on unless you long-press it to reboot it.
After making cutouts for the charger and the power button, I'm gonna stick with the Moko case. I definitely prefer this style over the Vipertek/A case/etc. style. I would have preferred to not have to make modifications that the Samsung case has out of the box, but for the price I'm happy now.

Looks like it comes from the same build house as Spigen's wallet case. Like previously said, if it does the trick, I think it'd be a great case. What concerns me, though, is the mention of a magnet. That's never a good thing to have around credit cards which looks exactly like what that little insert was intended for.

What then causes the view that appears in the window to work. I am aware that a magnet over the Hall sensor on the side of the phone causes the S view to appear, what then in the S view case causes the reaction?
The S-view function certainly DOES require a magnet. It's not a magnet to hold it closed, it's a relatively small magent mounted about 1cm in from the left side near the volume down button. I had to fit one to my case with an s-view window which came without a magnet (and didn't therefore work).
A credit card mag-stripe will almost certainly be corrupted by the magnet, but then again mag-strips are dying out in favour of chip and pin or nfc. Some banks are starting to issue cards without mag-strips.

i'm wondering how strong the magnet is at keeping the case closed? i don't want to drop the phone and have the case open and the phone land on the screen and break
I have the official Samsung flip cover (basically same as S view) and after three days with it on, I no longer had any issue with it not staying closed. Once you "break it in" it remains closed just fine. A month later and it stays shut on its own no problem.
I originally ordered one of $12 "Samsung" versions off Amazon. The front of the cover was the same quality as the OEM from Best Buy, but it said "Galaxy SIV" rather than "Galaxy S4" (not a big deal, maybe even a plus for some users) however, the back cover was junk. Didn't match the phone, didn't fit properly and was thicker than the OEM. I ended up selling it on Craigslist a few days later. Very happy with the OEM version and the discount I got with a Best Buy coupon. I'm considering the S view version when it drops in price a bit, but probably won't risk the "Samsung" versions on eBay and Amazon.

I wouldn't recommend the case in my picture (not the one being discussed by the OP, I have no experience of it) to anyone. The label saying "premium leather" is a plain old lie. Even gluing a magnet to the cover to enable s-view mode is only partly effective as you can't answer a call with a swipe because the window is too thick.
See my thread about it here
I wanted to mention that B&H Photo Video has the Samsung Booklet Case for $43 where it retails elsewhere for $59 and Samsung's simple case is $24 that retails for $39.

I bought the one made by Samsung for the 8.4 and it is by far the best case I have ever had for a tablet. Barely increases the thickness compared to other cases, extremely light and very easy to use for propping up and installing. Granted it is more expensive than the others but I think it is worth it.

The Samsung covers looked great but I think they don't provide the protection I would want for a device that does a lot of traveling. I have decided to buy two generic cases. I chose styles that I have used in the past and have found the quality to be good and the prices are right
1) A generic fake leather cover for rough travel.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L6MGAH8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
2) A slim style for around the house. I like these because they consist of a plastic shell that completely protects the body of the tablet and it's easy to remove (Unlike the Samsung case)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L6M1UNW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Now I just need a tempered glass screen protector and I will be all set.

I looked at both of those. I got a Samsung cover for my Note 10.1 long ago and it was wonderful, so I got the book cover for the 8.4, despite the hefty price. I thought the flap might be a nuisance, but it's not been a problem. This is the all around best case for fit, weight, protection. Handy to have the screen cut off when you cover it.

I received a free Samsung case when I bought the Tab S. I really think it looks great but what I didn't like was how stiff it was to attach and separate. I also felt that the case seemed flimsy unless the cover is latched around the front. If you dropped the tablet, when attached to the Samsung case, and it's not securely closed the cover would open and the table would be exposed. The cheap cases I ordered may not be as classy but they completely protect the tablet body (within reason). I I'll just keep the Samsung case for when I eventually sell (or give to a relative) this tablet. For under $20 I was able to buy both cases and when they wear out or get dirty I'll spend another 20 to buy two more.

I picked up the book cover and it seems like it will work well. I may return it and go without a cover. I honestly do not have much use for a cover. DirecTV accidental damage protection covers my tablet with a $50 deductible. Cheaper then a Samsung case in the fist place.
Just picked up the titanium book cover. I haven't like Samsung covers in the past but this is a very nice case. I agree it's way too expensive, but I had a 50% off from Samsung from my note 3. It's very slim and fairly light(though definitely adds weight). The magnets are super strong, and the folding positions are nice. Yes it's hard to unsnap, but I found if you stick a finger in the middle and sludge left or right it comes out ok. No issues snapping in.
my only gripe is the flap when closed actually isn't tight across the screen and if you squeeze the edges it opens a bit. Not a big deal.
Top Case
Fits perfectly! Far better "Book case" than the ones for the other Samsung Tablets!

I bought the Samsung Book Cover at BestBuy and at first use it was real slim and nice. But after having it in my backpack for school it didn't last long. So I took it back and bought this one on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/19124865001...49&var=490380980404&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT I think this will hold up.

Excited for the Galaxy Note 4, its specs are good the Quad HD and the fast charging excites me so far it has received positive reviews making me want to buy one from my Note 2 jumping to Note 4, already picked a great case for the Galaxy Note 4 here it is
SPIGEN Tough Proctive Armor Case for Galaxy Note 4
But still thinking of other brands also any suggestions of the best brand?
My Number 1 is Spigen
iBiason is also good
and SUPCASE..
I am going to be changing my battery alot. Whats a good case to take out quickly n easily often?
Verus Iron Shield!
I'm going to buy a Lifeproof, Otter box or Seidio one since they are featuring water resistance
waterproof cases will take a long time, but if it is the identical size as before you can just use the note 3 siedio obex. ....thye take forever to develop them so note 4 waterproof wouldnt even be out by next summer
That's actually a great idea thank you for that, hopefully it works. If not I'll buy something from Otterbox or Spigen till waterproof ones are outthere.
I always buy a Spigen case & screen protector (glass) for my mobile devices.
How much thickness do the Spigen cases add? I've never seen one in person but it seems, from the screen shots that I've seen, that they might be a bit bulky.
OtterBox

Yeah Spigen adds a little bit of bulk to your device, but it has awesome protection. I personally only use a case outdoors and I must say the extra bulk never has bothered me in the slightest.
If you want a Spigen case that doesn't add too much bulk and still protects your phone in a great way check out the Spigen Neo hybrid (here's the one for the Note 3: http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-note-3-case-neo-hybrid.html).
My dad has one for the s4 and he's very happy about it. Besides that I think this case looks great.
Ah yes, I remember seeing that case a while back when the Note 4 news was circulating around. That might be the way to go although I really would miss that kick stand.

You can always use your s pen as a kick stand http://galaxy-note-3.wonderhowto.com/how-to/attention-your-galaxy-note-3s-s-pen-works-as-built-kickstand-0155669/

I also have the Neo Hybrid for the S4 and it's awesome. I plan on getting that for the Note 4 as well, although I'm kind of hoping they have some what of a curve on the back of the case like the Note 4 has. The S4 Neo Hybrid is boxed off like an iPhone.
Then there's the issue of getting a temporary case, as I'm assuming Spigen won't have the Neo Hybrids out for a few weeks after the phone release.
