naybe use a goldcard and downgrade?
i don't know...
Currently the Desire S can only be unlocked by the XTC Clip, however i dont know if the software is public yet (dont have one). Since the release of the Incredible S alot of people have tried breaking the code, but at the moment of writing no-one has gotten trough.
Downgrading is not usefull, since there are no older builds which have the wpthis exploit in it. If you got a signed rom that has an Eng Hboot in it, it will be possible but currently its not possible....
does any dev have Desire S?
None does as far as i know, and there are few with a Incredible S so testing is also hard to do...
But i can assure you if the IS is s-offed, the DS wouldn't be that hard to port to

If you live in London then read this thread and visit one of the xtc clip owners that are in London (there one in West and East) that offer the service for a reasonably low cost.
Have a look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042997

Above link fixed, my apologies...
once you have a S-OFF phone then root can be achieved by following this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042419
You can root it with Gingerbreak once S-OFF its easier. lol

But my question is how to check my phone is s-off? Volume down + power doesn't helping. Only fast booting.
Does anyone has XTC Clip in Peterborough, UK?
If not, then I have to buy one for my self.
Hi all,
As there is no separate box for HTC Explorer (A310e/pico) I post my thread here
Do you know if there is a RUU for the HTC Explorer A310e? I am not able to find it with google...
ruu number should be: 1.17.404.2 (htc sense 3.5);
but the only one I have found is the RUU_Pico_HTC_Europe_1.17.401.2...
Do you know the difference between HTC Explorer Pico and HTC Explorer A310e?
Thanks in advance
Check in the hero cdma development forum there's a thread for that ruu.
Edit: I think that one is the one you already have. Sorry

Disadvantages??
You can easily hard brick your phone.. If you dont know what you are doing..
Other disadvantages are really dependant on perspective..
But this is the main disadvantage..

Advantages of S-OFF..
You can resize the 'system' partition.. So you can fit a larger ROM into it, without having to delete stuff from it..
You have complete control over your phone..
You can change SIM lock..
Right now you only have read/write permissions to the 7 partitions..
If you have S-OFF, you can duplicate someone's IMEI number, if you know what to do..
And do some other cool stuff..

The "S" refers to NAND storage security, so "Security On" and "Security Off". It has a number of effects, but the most obvious is that if you have both S-Off and root you can write to the /system partition while running Android, so easily remove system apps (device changing the sizes of the internal storage partitions is the main use).
I can write to /system/ while running Android without S-OFF.

How?? If you're talking about flashing ROMs, and removing or adding system apps, then we are saying two different things..
If not, then please elaborate..
I mean adding and removing files from /system/.
For example, I can remove Trebuchet.apk from /system/ with some kind of root explorer after installing Nova Launcher.

Yes that you can do from the OS.. You have unlocked bootloader, so you get access to these partitions.. But not to radio.. And also, you cannot write to any other partition, except /system and /recovery..

Download an RUU.. It'll be a *.exe file.. Run it.. Then, while it is running, go to Start > Run > Temp folder(the command should be "tmp" or "%temp%" or something like that, I've lost touch on windows)..
In that folder, you'll find all the files that the RUU extracted.. There should be a ROM zip, an HBOOT file, a DIAG file, etc.. Bring all the contents except the ROM zip itself..
Download the asian RUU.. I'm almost done with the European RUU.. And PM me the files.. :good:

And can we recover from burnt NAND????

NAND is a type of flash memory.
Don't know what happens when it gets burned. Never experienced.
But I think you'll have so many force closes.
Yes, you can recover your NAND. Check it how....

I burnt my nand because of oc kernel. It's like when you install cm roms you get fc's at startup
But I was able to install sense roms.
Here is the thread which contain video of burnt nand on which I tried to install minicm10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38243022
I used cute prince method and recover the nand.
Recovering Burnt NAND
How about keeping a backup of your old ROM when you flash a new one.. And if you do get a burnt NAND.. Simply restore the old ROM using Recovery .. No need to do any wipes.. The recovery will do it for you properly.
I'm just learning right now. and this one seems too simple for me.. Maybe I missed a catch?
Anyways.. If this gives you some ideas.. The Thanks button is where you should take your mouse pointer to qqqqqqqqqqqqqq

If you're learning, you've got a long way to go.
And if it were as easy as that, no one would be concerned
Tell me, if you burn a paper, can you bring it back to it's original state with exact letters?

Everything working fine on cm9 on my pico. But when I install jaggy desire 2, WiFi hotspot and USB tethering don't work. Hotspot gets created and my laptop connects to it but no internet access.
Danceoff says it may be a band burn. Is it possible?
