How to remove ClockWorkMod Recovery?

Several months ago I purchased a NS4G on Craigslist. I wanted to use it as an iPod touch without the data. It came rooted with SuperUser. The phone keeps prompting me to OTA to 2.3.7 (it's currently on 2.3.5) I used Gingerbreak to unroot and it worked, SuperUser is now gone. However, ClockWorkMod Recovery is still present and 2.3.7 won't install. The phone reboots, goes to about 1/3 of the progress bar, and then fails. I just want to get the phone on completely stock 2.3.7, in preparation for the coming 4.0 OTA.
Hopefully the solution doesn't involve flashing a custom ROM, I've never done that before. Thanks!!

No need to get it OTA, you can just flash the stock ICS ROM found in the stickies of the development forum of this phone. Of course follow instructions closely.

You want to use fastboot to flash a stock recovery. Peter Alfonso has them all listed on his site.

Thanks. I'm really not familiar with fastboot, and is there any way you could give me a link with instructions or the files I need? My build number is GRJ90.
And if there's anyway for me to avoid a rooted stock ROM, that'd be great. Just pure stock 2.3.7.

The stock image on Rom manager has the recovery bootloader included.

Flash a stock gb rom from cwm. You will find a list of them in either general or android development threads, not sure which. Completely stock, unrooted and as far as I remember the stock recovery is included. If not then the person will never know anyway as if someone doesn't want any non stock features then they won't know how to get to recovery anyway.
Actually I don't think they have stock recovery. Just flash the stock rom and then fastboot flash the stock recovery like was mentioned above. All you need to type is:
Fastboot flash recovery xxxxx.img
Xxxxx.img is the name of the image file you download.

Don't cheat the buyer...Tell him exactly what he's buying...And that you returned thedevice back to stock again.It's just not worth it.

HELP! In Rooting

so i need some help in rooting my tab 7+ p6200
so basically i dont know anything about rooting and all the other stuff about android..
so can someone explain to me some guidelines about rooting
is it safe? if ever i brick my device, will there be a way to unbrick? just some questions about rooting
and please kindly explain these terms that i dont understand
1. flashing
2. CWM
3. Firmware recovery
4. kernel
5. and so many more stuff
so if someone out there who can help me.. it will be a big help..

I don;t have a 6200 so i don't know how to root it, it could be the same as the 6210 but I'm not sure. Look in the development section.
I can answer a couple of these other things but you could really get the answers quickly by googling them.
CWM
Clockwork Mod Recovery, a custom recovery as opposed to the stock recovery. You have to have a custom recovery installed in order to flash custom ROMs.
ROM
The operating system (OS)
Kernel
Facilitates communication between the OS and the hardware.
Flashing
A general term for installing a custom ROM, the stock firmware, a mod or an update. There are many ways of flashing and not all devices do it the same way. Samsung uses Odin and also certain files can be flashed in the stock recovery if it is unlocked. With HTC you can flash certain files directly in hboot if the device is unlocked otherwise you need a custom recovery.
Recovery
This is a software layer that you can flash to your phone that allows you to boot the phone into a utility state where you can install roms, flash things like patches or modifications, backup your rom/kernel, etc. When people refer to a nandroid backup, they are referring to a backup made here. It's a snapshot of your phone that lets you mess with things and restore back to that point in time should you screw something up. You pretty much can't brick your phone at this level - it's all just files and filesystems. You can also mount your SD card to reader mode for connection to a computer, do a factory reset of data, and a few other fun things like root your rom here. You should only root your rom if it is a stock rom that has not been rooted yet. Rooting a rooted rom will usually unroot your root so you don't have root. I should also add that Rooting (root) is just adding the superuser binaries to the system/bin folder and nothing else. Its pretty much the same thing as an administrator in windows, it allows you access to system folders. Rooting and installing a custom recovery are not the same thing, two different animals, though some devs will included both in their method for rooting a device. I prefer to do mine separately as I don't always want to install a custom recovery.

Restoring to stock

Some months ago I followed guides here to SuperCID, s-off and install a custom ROM. The past few days my touch screen has become unresponsive, at first this was fixed by reflashing the ROM, but now, nothing will fix it, and the touch screen is completely unresponsive. So it seems I will have to return it to the shop to send off for repair. Of course I don't want them to have any reason to say it was the custom ROM that has caused it, warranty void blah blah so need to restore it to stock.
So far I have re-flashed with a stock ROM and changed the CID to what it was, and s-on. I can't remember whether I changed the MID, currently it is PG58*****, though I believe it should be PG5813001, and I'm not sure how to go about changing this (or if it needs changing, will they look into that?)
Another thing I'm unsure of, I downloaded the ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559 I don't know if these ROMs are rooted or not? Is there any way to tell? Or is it a safe assumption they are not?
And finally, hboot, before flashing the stock ROM, this was 1.17, now it is 1.18. Is there anything in here that might suggest the phone has been tinkered with in ways they don't like? I just want to make sure I have covered everything so they don't immediately refuse to repair. If I have missed anything else please let me know.

To Flash stock recovery read 2 in HERE I believe these ROMs are not rooted, to check just look for SuperSU or Superuser app, if it is not installed you are not rooted. Don't worry at all they'll never find out you rooted your phone, usually they never check. Read THIS guide it has the answer to all your questions regarding revert to stock

Thanks, though unfortunately I can't check what apps are installed due to the touch screen being unresponsive. But if that's not something they'll look into then fair enough.
The second thread doesn't quite answer everything (whether the ROMs are rooted for example), however, the first thread details extracting stock recovery from an RUU, so I guess that means I don't need to worry about that as it would have been flashed with the ROM.
One other thing - do they require the SD card to be sent also? Is there anything on there that should be removed? Any data relating to apps that use root privileges might raise an eyebrow; is it safe to do a reformat of the SD card? I'm not sure how much is on there that is vital the system.

No the ROMs in the second post are not rooted they are stock. The whole point of the post is to restore stock( read 3. RUU to restore stock). Stock recovery is smth else from stock ROM. You also need stock recovery to install OTA updates from google. Use Android Recovery Manager to download and install your stock recovery. Than in fastboot the stock recovery.img. I can't assure you that they won't notice you were rooted, but they usually don't. Keep in mind that when you unlocked your bootloader you accepted to void your warranty, and your serial number is in HTCs website. (theoretically) you can never be sure they won't discover you, but practically installing stock ROM, stock recovery, locking bootloader and getting back to s-on is enough to not get spotted
And you can format the SD Card if you want, you made a fresh install so there shouldn't be any files regarding it, just the files from the old system, but do a backup first just in case

Thanks again. If I recall correctly I used revolutionary, not HTC dev so I don't think they'll have my imei? Android recovery manager doesn't have the correct version for my phone, but further down the post it another method is extracting the recovery from the RUU, which is why I assumed stock recovery would have been installed when I flashed the RUU. I guess there is no harm in manually flashing the recovery to be sure though.

No HTCdev is not a recovery, it's the only way of unlocking your bootloader, which you have done for sure. But don't worry I assure you they don't go so deep. There's nothing wrong in flashing manually the recovery. Good luck

[Q] Upgrading to new OTA update with rooted phone and TWRP

Hello everyone. I'm somewhat of a noob still and I would appreciate any help you could give me.
I'm trying to install the new OTA update that came out today but I'm having issues. I have a rooted One S with TWRP recovery, and everytime I try to install the OTA update it brings me to the TWRP recovery screen. I'm pretty sure this is because I don't have stock recovery. I've even tried "unrooting" with Voodoo Over the Air root, but it keeps bringing me to the TWRP recovery screen.
I rooted my phone with the All-In-One root kit, and I really don't want to lose everything on my device (or have the pain in the butt of restoring everything). Is there another way? Or is there an easy way to reinstall the stock recovery with the AIO kit? I know the AIO kit has the option to install other recoveries, but I'm not sure where to get the stock one.
Please help! I really want to upgrade.

Scroll half way down and you get a list of different steps you may have to do in order to get it done.
Most include installing "OTA RootKeeper" from GooglePlay
Steps vary from how your phone is setup. Stuff like do you have Root, Custom or stock Mod, or CWM or stock recovery. Check it out. I'm trying it now.
(adding more to it so I don't double post.)
I tried the method with Root Keeper, it doesn't seem to work for me. It also seems as though a few others are having the same issue. Someone recommended use an RUU to go completely stock, therein losing all your data unless you back all that stuff up.
I'm going to avoid an RUU at all costs, I hate having to reset up my phone. Plus I just got a XOOM I need to work more on and get setup so I don't want to put more time on the phone than I have to as to take away time from my XOOM.

Hello. Any stock recovery for Ville C2 (One S s3)? I'm looking everywhere and I cannot find. I want to update to JB with OTA

Lockedbootloader tablet

I have a locked bootloader but I rooted my tablet. I wanted to do a backup but realized that CWM is asking for the recovery. It has been a few years since I rooted my last device and I am trying to look to see next steps.
Am I supposed to reboot into recovery or something? I believe with my locked bootloader I cannot install roms?
Any help is appreciated and I will continue to search for my answered as well.

Do you have a custom recovery (e.g. CWM, TWRP, etc.)? If you want to reboot into the stock recovery I'm not sure that'll help you with backup options at all. To install a custom recovery you do need to unlock your bootloader. A quick search will give you quite a few how-to threads that have been started for this device. Cheers
