About S4
I had the chance to do hands on this device. And the screen is superbly crisp! :good: Do custom roms happen to work well with this device?

This would be my last choice. The current ICS version is plagued with issues, I'd wait til Samsung takes it and fixes it's shortcomings.

It isn't allowing the CPU to sleep, Verizon users are having serious signal issues, some users aren't getting multi-touch, also the fact that the gs2 is smoother thanks to Sammy's work on it. The only amazing thing ICS really brought was the ability for devs to build across phones and tablets more easily. GB was just as well off.

Actually it wasn't a signal issue with Verizon phones. The cpu sleep issue is fixed, and the multi touch doesn't affect everyone, and has also been fixed with the software update...but ok. I would hardly call that "plagued".
completely agree with u
it had some launch issues but now 99% has been fixed so go for galaxy nexus
do NOT get galaxy s 2 because number 3 is around the corner (March hopefully)
nokia lumia 800
what about htc sensation?
By software, Galaxy Nexus
By hardware, i THINK it's the Galaxy S II
I prefer the Xperia Play though,
And maybe you would want to wait on the Xperia S
(Yes. I'm a Sony loving guy )
Out of those 3 choices I'd say the Galaxy Nexus solely because its running stock Android and will get official Android updates first.
As for the issues, meh I dont care coz I dont even own the phone.

Actually it is not trolling. You can't argue that the hardware is not old technology. And my opinion on the software is in line with the majority of this forum. Trolling would be going into the WP7 forums and starting threads praising android.

Pakistani Galaxy S4 Owners Thread - Discussions, PreOrder, Reviews and more

Hey Guys, i am starting this thread for the Pakistani Samsung Galaxy S4 Users. I will be updating all the relevant information, pricing leaks, previews, reviews and all sort of stuff which will pertain to the Great Galaxy S4 users in Pakistan
Re: Official Pakistani Galaxy S4 Owners Thread - Discussions, PreOrder, Reviews and m
First...!! jk
I'm curious as to how much this will cost here at launch... I heard around 75k from a few shopkeepers who are generally right. I remember when the S3 came here and was officially brought in by Samsung they really helped the price drop down from the import price to local with warranty... If I remember correctly it came for about 65k via Samsung...
Sent from my Nexus⁴
It'll be expensive here. Then, they'll lower the prices oh-so-slightly after a couple of months. Typical.

Even if s3 got all the software features, it won't be that effective. The low ram and battery is going to make things worse. Hope for the best.

So apparently its official, Team Hacksung / Cyanogenmod won't support the S4... That is a really big blow for Samsung from the Dev community... I think it may very well be the deal breaker for me and I'll end up sticking to the N4...

If you dont want to enjoy samsung's version of android experience then why even consider galaxy series? I am sure N5 will have equally powerful hardware and would give best stock android experience. I know its about choice but choice of running half baked or even 100% functional stock android on a non nexus device when both have equally powerful hardware doesnt click.

Because samsung didnt release the source code for their exynos processor in s2 and s3 and developers had a hard time trying to make CM fully functional on these sets. So, same might happen in S4's case.

2/3 of SGS4's shipped are S-600 and the i9500 is only available in smaller markets without the prospects of LTE. If devs in major markets (EU, US, Asia) have access to LTE it shouldn't be shocking they'd want to own an LTE-capable phone. So it shouldn't be a surprise that Octa has less dev support just based on fewer being sold and the markets it's available in.

In terms of non-stock ROMs (CM, AOKP etc.) that's only part of the reason though, and not even the main one. The primary reason for a lack of ROMs is the Exynos chip set and the devs refusing to work with it thanks to Samsung.

You'll be waiting a long time. So far no maintainers have expressed interest in touching another Exynos device.
There's always the possibility someone new will do the bringup, but so far, it's not likely.
It is normal! Nobody want to devote time and resources to a device that has a defective SoC! Even Samsung have acknowledged that there is a serious flaw in the core switching logic of Exynos 5410 that can't be repaired with a software patch and they have began to build the newer fixed Exynos 5420
I'm a owner of a gt I9505. Flashed a dozen roms already and kernels. Can't decide what I want. So many to pick, just wanted to tell you that.

for anyone on the fence regarding 9500/9505, I would highly recommend i9505 if you are planning to mod.
There is already an active community of 9505 modders, and is growing daily. However there is no guarantee the issues with the Exynos chip will be resolved in the immediate future.
Any speed/power savings in the 9500 octacore chip are neglibile IMO and with a dearth of frequently updated roms for it, I think the 9505 is the way to go.

exynos chip will be rsolved? resolved what ? The difference is only with cm/aokp roms to which maintainers are reluctant to start(thank u ****shung). The rest of the development/mods is a different story, both are similar.
If there is a mod available for 9505 alone(which is unlikely since all the rom mods will be common for both)its just a matter of time before someone do it for 9500.
There are already a bundle of stock modded roms available for 9500.

They hate it because of Samsung! There is no complete documentation for the SoC, no compete sources, and the fact that the Exynos 5410 have a hardware flaw (that can't be fixed) doesn't help either!

hardware flaw? explain! , you can call it a missing feature/implementation. the term "hardware flaw" will always mislead the users in general. a feature which was never promised to be available for end users cannot be called as a flaw. It lacks one of the implementation/features of big little architecture and thats it.

Canadian S9+ thread (Waiting room)

Its this time of the year guys! This thread is to discuss pre-orders across all stores and providers in Canada. To compare notes and ask ROBELUS related questions. I personally pulled the trigger for an unlocked (no subsidy) phone through best buy, delivery scheduled for the 16th and then I went back in an through Telus the pick up is on the 9th for some reason so I pulled the trigger on both. What did you order from where? What did you select? Pick up or delivery? Please share.
It seems the Exynos s9+ has 128gb of memory and the Snapdragon only 64gb. What gives?

Hola
I am still on the fence about getting this device. One unique thing that I need is VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling features and currently you can only get these "advanced" functions by buying a phone directly from your carrier. I would be more inclined to get the Exynos version primarily because you can get decent third-party custom ROMs that, for the most part, provide a cleaner experience than the bloated full stock firmware.
Ah boy first world issues indeed...

I just went over my emails and it turns out they sent me an email telling me to disregard the shipping notice and that my phone will be ready for pick up on the 16th. Oh well...
Just placed my preorder online with Samsung.ca. SES is not too convenient for me and having read about some hassles with using the $150 credit against the phone, I figured online was easier as the credit is already applied and I may get my phone before the 16th.
But why you guys not worried about the Snapdragon processor, i mean locked bootloader. Are you guys okay with that?
Also the benchmark scores are drastically higher on Exynos (3600, 9500) as compared ro the crapdragon(2400,8500).

Bro the geekbench scores are drastically high on exynos but yeah the the other scores are pretty low.. i think in real life, Exynos will still be faster than the Snapdragon.
People still pay attention to benchmarks? I have no issues with my SD835 S8+ and I only expect the S9+ to be even faster. I'll take real-world usage over benchmarks any day. Plus, I like being able to use VoLTE and having proper Carrier Aggregation support for LTE, something that I can't use if I import an Exynos version.
