Nice , Did you know that actually there are ZERO tutorials about this? I haven't found a real tutorial on this so far (since I own the i9001), it's either always an instruction how to apply a patch or it's just a commit (commit = sort of tut tho). So that's the reason I posted this. How strange actually that there are no tutorials about this.

Thanks for your tutorial, really appreciate it. But additionally, I miss a little bit a place where the base (source) can be found. For example you linked a example-github link with a SmartassV2 source patched into a kernel. But there are some stuff missed whats also needed (f.e. earlysuspend.h).
So the question for me is, is there any place where the basis source of the governors is stored (with all what is needed to patch a kernel source) ? I searched with my friend google, but he is not really helpfull

tun.ko for Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #2

I just found out tun.ko needs to be compiled for the specific kernel version. Anyone can help me with the binary or point out where to find the source for the tun and kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #2? Thank you.

any reason for using this kernel? tun.ko is included in decad3nce's kernels.
kernel source can be obtained from HTC if you don't want to take the easy way and use decad3nce's kernel.
p.s. We have a Q & A Forum for this.

This is Zenulator's ZenKernel. You might get a response by posting in his thread here, but fyi he's not actively developing anymore.
Thanks both of you for the great info. I think I will try the easy way first and use decad3nce's kernel.
I tried decad3nce's kernel and the battery mod in the same thread and the tun driver worked fine. However, I felt I liked the instant screen wake up of the ZenKernel. And the battery lives of both kernels seem to be almost the same. So I went ahead and grabbed the source and compiled the tun.ko. Tested working fine and attached in case anyone needs it. Thanks for the help.

No contribs, yet more 'thanks' than you, in less time. Let's ask the people in aosp's IRC room as well who contribs.
Also, you must be reading wrong, I haven't been asking for help for much of anything. But, that's to be expected from someone who can't even spell loser right.

Source Code of Galaxy 3

This morning I received a mail message from Samsung containing the following :
"We're pleased to provide the source code from the site below :
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/reception_main.do?method=reception_modal "
ALTERNATIVE DOWNLOAD LINK:

I think the time has come to develop some awesome roms for this little device ;-)

It's only source code upload, not official Samsung Froyo update (JPF isn't official)
So now someone with expirience in kernels download sztupy's kernel building vm and get started...

If you don't mind I'll add the link to the first post as well
of cource i don't mind that's why i registered here. to help and get help, to share and get stuff, to ask and answer questions
Someone should give gsam101 this info...so that he could do kernel compiling...
I got it via twitter .. I'm downloading it boys, except something coming... ^^.
And no, i don't need a VM, I use Linux every day.
Gsam are what you knew "play" with the source code? And if so what are you know if you could put a support for the ext4 partition? or overclock? I saw the performance of your core Jpb which was not bad, so I think you're going to make a beautiful ring =)
As far as I can see, there's the .config file missing. Looks somewhat like a text adventure to me: The one who guesses Samsung's configuration the best, is the one who wins.
I already wrote Samsung about the missing file. I tried with the old .config from Eclair, guessed the new options, and so far had no success.

It's as for the 2.1 kernel source, you just have to copy the source file from arch/arm/config
Thanks for the tip. Looks like there's a matching file in the configs/ directory. Compiling again and hoping for a better result ...
It seems that i finally got a working kernel build by myself. I do some tweaks, and i upload it here.

FanTasy ROM Ver.1 - Diabolic Green is coming soon. We are looking for ideas. Apart from basic features such as root, deodex, jit etc, we would like to have suggestions from your side.
Current Features include -
Rooted, Deodexed, Samsung Bloatware removed, Added useful Apps.Comes with 9 lock screen MOD and GingerBread Theme. Some Apps are having Themed Icon and are themed also. The ROM is Blazing fast as it delivers Fantastic Performance at stock frequencies . The ROM aims for you to get performance without OC.
Plus some unique MODs coming too (hopefully if i get 'em working, I'm trying hard to)
We are looking forward for your suggestions. We would release this ROM as soon as testing is completed. Hopefully the ROM will come with G3Mod final 2.0 kernel if it is released. It will support Multi-Boot in later versions after G3Mod Team adds support.
ETA-----> This ROM will be released soon. Till then we need suggestions.

I know that bro.
I recommend App2SD, and various other init.d scripts. Just make sure when you implement them that none of them conflict each other. Check what each script does before throwing it in there.
