[Q] Unroot method

Been searching for a way to unroot my samsung galaxy s 4g. Tried the superclick method and the universal galaxy s tool wit no luck. Can anyone help, or guide me towards the right direction please?

you can odin a rom that is prerooted. or you can odin bali and flash from there. i would suggest odining ravers KC1 first and then bali and you should be good to go. let me know if you cant find it in the bible or through search and i'll help you out

He's trying to unroot. Are you unrooting on Froyo or GB? Froyo should really be as easy as SuperOneClick > unroot. GB would probably require a new flash of GB.
I'm curious though, why unroot?

Tried hookn her up with GB through odin but got a lil confused, roms werent being flashed and was stuck with bootloops. So than i tried flashing thru CWM, with the vodoo lagfix, and once i got them to flash phone was pretty unstable. so I tried reverting back to froyo using odin. Got it flashed back but now her phone goes thru some serious glitches. I figured if i can unroot, i can start all over from scratch. Im no professional but have experience on other phones, but this phone has been a serious beeeeotch from day 1. Any ideas bro?

my bad. misread that. it sounds to me like you messed up the bootloaders. search for ravers kc1 and flash all 4 or so files in odin and that should give you a fresh start. once there, format the sd card on the phone and reboot. then reinstall your drivers (uninstall, reboot computer, reinstall) and then try superoneclickroot and try unrooting again.

I hope that phone was purchased from a credible source and it wasn't stolen. That would suck if someone reported it and her phone got blacklisted.
Unrooting the phone won't help make much of a difference though. Odin'ing RaverX3X's KC1 will already remove your root and give you the cleanest slate you can possibly get on this forum. From there, you can work on getting GB on the phone. I hope you have experience flashing with this device though. Reading is VERY important for this phone. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as other phones out there.

[Q] stuck on reboot, not able to go into recovery

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I have yet to find a solution.
I recently rooted my Infuse with SuperOneClick. I flashed the Serendipity 7 ROM. I decided I wanted to unroot my device because my phone began to not be able to receive calls. SuperOneClick does not support 2.3 software, so I tried to flash a Froyo rom so I could use the program. My phone is now stuck in reboot. I can't even get it into recovery mode, no matter how many times I try. I have no idea what to do, I need my phone to work. Does anyone know any way to fix this? Thank you in advance.

if the three button combo doesnt work (u might have soft bricked your phone)
u get always unbrick your phone and get back to stock rom following this method

Great site and forum you guys have here. I've been lurking in the background for about a month now since converting to Android from Crackberry, studying as much as possible about rooting my new Skyrocket.
I've narrowed down the method that I'll be using shortly to the 3 subject options, and was just wondering, what you recommend and why? I've also watched videos on each, and they all seem like they work and I can handle the task. But I want to avoid tripping the flash counter or getting myself in other more complicated trouble that I'd need your help with.
My plan is to root, flash CWM, do a Nandroid backup, then just freeze some things up using Titanium Backup to start. I think I said that right. Maybe not. But that's the plan for now, without new ROMs or kernels. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and I apologize for the rookie questions. Again, great forum.

I can tell you a little trick that might save you from ever having to trip you flash counter. Use the odin method of rooting, its in the dev section. After you push cwm with odin, boot into cwm and make a backup of stock unrooted. Then proceed to flashing the superuser zip and rooting. Take the stock unrooted backup and save it to your desktop or something. Now your rooted with cwm . If you ever have to restore to stock you can restore the unrooted stock backup, then push the stock recovery with odin and presto your back to stock without tripping counter. Only works if you backup stock firmware before rooting. Also I've noticed that usually when I softbrick I can get away with just flashing cwm in odin, booting into recovery and proceeding from there. If I could start all over that's how ide do it I think. Just an idea. Also this method gets you farmiliar with odin, which you'll desperately need someday, if you already know how to use it you'll be set. A good thing to do is know is how to fix your phone "before" you break it lol(cause you surely will at some point). Then there's no panic when it happens cheers and good luck!

I'm no expert but when I updated from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 using S.O.C was no longer an option. I had to use the all power ODIN. link
But I suggest reading, googling, and rereading steps until you're confident of what to do without guessing if you're doing it right or not.
BTW, don't discount ROMs, they will make you love your phone more than you thought possible. And with the initial Nandroid bup you can always revert...

After a few days of research and trying to figure out how not to trip the flash counter, this is the best way. Huge thumbs up for the suggestion!

Wow. That is really great information. Thank you! I had written off the Odin method, as it seemed a little complicated for a rookie like myself -- hence why it wasn't included in the subject options.
But after reading what you had to say, it makes complete sense. The Odin method is the only way to make a complete backup (using CWM) of my truly unrooted device, where the other methods, the mirror (backup) would be of a rooted device so a restore back to stock would be more difficult. Correct?
I just read all 20 pages of the link you supplied, and it seems I've got a pretty good understanding of what to do and what not to do. Will give it a whirl today and let you know. By the way, someone posted a video which talks about how the superuser.zip file is not necessary -- this is not true if you aren't putting on a new ROM. Which I am not. Just a heads up for anyone else out there looking at it. Thanks again man, you nailed it.

A restore to stock wouldn't necessarily be any more complicated because we have odin files for that too. But it will trip your counter. Sometimes tripping the counter is unavoidable, I pretend like mine doesn't even exist. Let us know if you need any help
Remember to make the nandroid backup of stock unrooted before you flash the superuser.zip.
When you do flash the superuser zip, it might throw up an error and not flash, this is ok, happens to me everytime, just keep trying to install it and eventually she will take:thumbup:

Perfect success! Couldn't have gone any better. From the driver installs, to the Odin launch, CWM backup, and finally the SU flash -- each step was flawless. It took 3 tries on the Superuser.zip file before it installed without errors, which was expected. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I just updated Superuser to the latest version, but now I'm seeing that Busybox seems to be an important add-on now that I'm rooted for some apps to work properly. Agreed? If so, is the popular version on Play the one to download?
Also, whats the best way for me to send the backup I just made from my phone to computer as you mentioned? Where is it located on phone? Thanks again. You've been a huge help, and I'm stoked to be part of the club -- maybe just a junior member still, but learning more each day.

The cwm backup will probably be on you external SD under clockworkmod>backup. If not on external use internal. Just mount USB storage on your computer. After you get the stock backup off your SD , boot back into recovery and make a backup of your rooted stock firmware if you already haven't. You want to always have atleast one nandroid on your SD in case boo boo's occur.
As for the busy box thing I'm not exactly sure. All I can say on that is if any app request you to update it just allow it to. Maybe try the market app you mentioned. I'm not entirely too sure. Also maybe consider flashing a rom. You'll have that rooted backup on your SD you can restore whenever you'd like.

Thanks again for the help and props. More success yesterday; moved the full stock ROM (unrooted) Nandroid to my computer, and then made another Nandroid of my rooted stock ROM. That too I put on the computer, but also left a copy my SD card.
Installed Titanium Backup Pro, and am now studying up on which .APK files I can safely freeze. Found a spreadsheet from the SG2 forum, and I'm guessing it's applicable for our device. Would post the link, but I'm not allowed to yet.
Lastly, I picked up the Nexus 2100 mah battery for which I'll be installing shortly as well. Starting to get more tuned up now, but you are right, once all this is complete I'll look at some custom ROM's as well. I guess freezing all of these files wouldn't really be necessary if I put on a new ROM anyway. Oh well. Baby steps.

I have just updated to ics on my sgs2 via kies,was previosly running rooted g,bread 2.3.5(ORANGE).I obviosly lost root after update! Anyway just tried to root using cf-root on odin,and it said sucsess after flashing but my phone w'ont boot up now,the only thing It can do is get back into download mode. My stock kernal is BVLPB(Orange branded) I did use a matching cf-root kernal.
Can anyone PLEASE help me totally gutted......

[Q] MrRobinson root method on a brand new phone?

I have a brand new stock verizon S3 and am wondering if I can use the MrRobinson root method to root for the very first time. I swear someone in one of the forums said they did but it sounds like most people are using those images to just update. I originally tried this 4.1.1/4.1.2 method and it bricked my phone on flashing the VRALEC bootchain step, everything looked good in odin, the phone looked like it tried to restart, then went black and never came back. I got a new phone and am wary of trying the same method again. If that is the method I have to use any thoughts on what could have went wrong?

There should be no problem using the Mr. Robinson file in Odin. I have flashed the bootchain that soft bricked your phone and had no issue. Your following the Odin instructions exactly, right....just checking. Everything needs to be installed using the PDA slot unless it specifically says to put the file somewhere else....I have not run into that yet. You had problems with Odin before so that makes me a little apprehensive advising you to use it again.
The Mr. Robinson 4.1.2 file is not the ota. Use the 4.1.1 ota file so you can grab the 4.1.2 ota. Before installing 4.1.2 ota install ota voodoo rootkeeper....temp unroot, take ota then reroot. Pretty sure that's the only way other than flashing the bootchain that will get you on stock rooted 4.1.2

I actually had the video demo they have linked open and was watching that then pausing and following the directions and making sure everything I was doing was identical. I really have no idea what happened, I've read over the directions a few times watched the video again and I can't see anything I may have missed. But it hard bricked my phone, I couldn't turn it on or get back into download mode or anything.
If I can just use the MrRobinson method on a brand new unrooted phone I will do that. I think the phone was already on 4.1.2 when I got it, so that won't matter using the 4.1.1 ota file? I've been flashing roms and toying around with my Incredible 2 since the day I got it basically and have never had any problems. Now that I had this issue with the S3 i'm scared to try anything . It seems the S3 has a good community though which is the main reason I went with it over my other options.

I would be scared to use Odin if I had your experience too. I've used Odin several times without any issue but I have not used it since the 4.1.2 update....although I'm sure many have without any problems. Yes, you can flash any OTA via Odin even if your going backwards . I can't say you won't have any issues because I don't think you should have had an issue the first time.......maybe wait to see what others think?

idk why that happened. My best guess is if the battery was low prior to you using Odin then it may have needed charging. But that VRALEC/Odin method is proven working countless times and those files linked in the OP have been used countless times.
Just know that with mrRobinson's pre-rooted images, you'll still need to unlock your bootloader with say EZ Unlock v1.2 (available on Rootzwiki so google it) before you decide to flash custom roms/kernels.

Like I said above, may have been the luck of the draw or it could have needed charging.

If you want to have a 4.1.2 rooted stock version, you need to download MrRobinson, K3 full wipe image with root (http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390214368362234355), unzip it first, then use Odin to flash this, then install Voodoo OTA root keeper from the market to preserve root, then let OTA update back to 4.1.2, finally use OTA root keeper to restore root. Done, simple and risk free.

As a followup for anyone that may stumble upon this thread in the future, I used the method provided by buhohitor and it worked like a champ. I flashed the mrRobinson image used ez unlocker to unlock the bootloader then used ez recovery to flash the latest version of TWRP. I'm now running this Paranoid Android 4.2.2 Rom and it is fantastic!
