Another dumb question from a newbie
Can I flash a different radio on the OTA jelly bean update and be ok with S-off and unlocked, touchscreen downgraded also. If so would I need the ones with RIL or any radio? Where I live never did have good luck with a signal and seems the .HTC O2 2.29 (0.19as.32.09.20_3_10.107.32.25): was the one I had the best luck with. For some reason I tried to flash a kernel or something and the System UI stopped working and had to restore , don't want to do it again.
You should be fine just flashing the radio. If I'm not mistaking the ril is for aosp/aokp.

At&t hasnt even announced their plans to update the Inspire 4G and i was thinking, since the Desire HD is pretty much the exact same phone, can i flash the Desire HD official gingerbread rom? im asuming ill lose the 3g/4g capabilities but that can be solved by flashing the AT&t radio after i flash the update, right?

Radio firmware doesn't have to do with 2G/3G loss on the Inspire/DHD, it is the software in the the ROM (RIL combined with APN). If the ROM doesn't have the correct settings it will not have a data connection at all... Also, flashing a pure DHD ROM will cause major sound issues on your Inspire. I would just recommend using one of the 2.3 ROM's in the dev section, most of them are based on the official 2.3 release anyway.
You shouldn't have any problems, as long as you match your radio with the RIL and apply the dhd to inspire patch somewhere on these boards.

I've flashed Desire Rom's without any problems just use LeeDroid DHD to Inspire Patch to apply turboliniums tinny audio fix.

The thing is there's no stock 2.3.3 on these forums :/ , so the trouble is the ril, ive had no problems reactivaating the apn in the past

Use the steps in my method in development after flashing, it basically resets your radio to AT&T specs on any Sense-based ROM's. RIL, Radio, APN, telephony.db. All there.
Edit: make sure to to a rooted stock ROM, NOT THE RUU!!
Re-Edit - Use this one. It is pretty darned stock.
im getting more confused , the gingerbread roms on the inspire 4g development forums are based on the desire hd roms but already have the ril and the at&t raido and apn? or are jsut the desire hd roms and we have to flash the ril and the radio after we flash the rom?
And the screwed sound you mention is no sound AT ALL or the tiny audio?
Chad-
Slow down. Do some reading. Don't jump into it too fast and you will be fine. Read-Read-Read.
Chad, this as close to stock GB Sense as you can get. All you have to do is flash the rom nothing else. And your phone will actually think its an Inspire 4g not a Desire hd.

I saw a similar thread but it wasn't very well described... The issue I'm having is after installing Android Revolution HD 3.0.0, I attempted two methods to update the radio image, but it appears that it has not updated to the suggested version...
I went from stock TMOUS to this rom, everything is working fine, but I would like to ensure that I have the proper radio installed for this ROM.
After flashing it shows my radio to be 10.56.9035.00P_10.14.9035.01M , the suggested radio for this ROM is 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01
Maybe I'm missing something, but the P instead of the U is making me question things, can anyone shed some light on this.
Thank you in advance!
The P and U doesn't matter. You successfully updated the radio.

That's a wrap! Thanks for the speedy reply!
US,Europe and HTC(carrier independent) stock Roms are all regarding integrated specific packages, but what about the radio versions that vary in each ?
will it affect the device if i installed radio 2.08(europe) or 1.58(us) on my sensation 4G ?
and if am installing a custom roms which radio should be installed(if not recommended in the rom thread) ?
what will happen if i installed a US stock rom with Europe radio ?
also which is the best STOCK RUU ?? US,Europe or the HTC (Europe,Asia, carrier independent)

hey yacbos as far as i have seen a lot of the roms are EU based so the developer suggests the specific EU radio to be used with their rom ie 10.15.9035.x.x. a lot of US users have confirmed that the stock or TMOBU radio works better here in the US. i have used ARHD roms since rooting my Sen but have kept the original radio 10.14.9025.01_m and recieve better service using it. just look up the specific radio for ur area and flash the corresponding RIL with it.. there are posts in the development section with radio and RIL zips info. hope this helps a little can be confusing[ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200403 look under radios/U]

Just to chime in, I found the 10.15 radio + Ril 169 combo to give me the best combination of speed and reception on TMOUS here in Philadelphia after weeks of testing.

From another post it said that the baseband version you changed to is hidden behind the original. You would have to go settings>about phone>software information>more and the baseband version will be there.
Hope that helps.
I have just flashed the stock ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529941) coming from an Android Revolution HD ROM, an old Gingerbread one, 3.6.2 I think. I am now having people say that I sound really muffled on the phone and I am wondering if it could be due to the radio file that I flashed with the Revolution HD ROM and if so what would be the best solution, thanks in advance.
You can try flashing a new radio and see if it helps at all. Or flashing back to the one you had before you changed it unless ROM requires it. Best of luck hope you get your issue solved.

I was wondering if there was a specific radio that would match this ROM in the same way there was one for the Revolution HD ROM. I came from stock that was installed with the Sensation when bought, so I don't know what the radio was.
Ive had more dropped calls using jellybean. Can I use a ics radio with jellybean . Thanks.

Yes. Radios and ROMs are two totally separate beasts. I've run the stock radio (F2) on JB just fine. In fact, I find F2 and G7 to be better in CM10 than the latest releases.
