So, about a month ago I wrote an app that notifies users about the free app of the day on the Amazon Appstore, one that works for Amazon App Stores outside the US (the first of its kind, many does the job for US account). And I released it to the Play Store.
For the app, I used this icon:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It went ok till last week, when I was contacted by an Amazon Trademark Paralegal person, saying I am using the "A Smile" in my logo, which can confuse users about the origin of the software, etc, etc and that I should change it. I thought it was because I used the Amazon arrow, so I changed it to a normal smile:
But also this was not ok, as the Smile in the logo will still remind users of Amazon, and I should not use it. So, I went ahead again and made a complete change, making this logo:
And just now I got the last communication from Amazon saying still not good, as the Android robot has an "a" on its chest, which is not good (for no reason). it is getting a bit too far. Amazon never uses the Android robot
What do you say? "a" stand for Android, not only Amazon, they can't trademark a letter?
Can I say that I will not remove it? the logo is very different from an Amazon? or will they sue me? I don't want to get into troubles, but not also be so weak in my choices.
Any recommendations?
I'd use similar colours to the amazon appstore as in the first icon with your 'daily app' cross text, highlight the a in black and have the remaining text much paler/more transparent. Copyright can cover symbols, fonts, and recognisable shapes amongst other things so it needs to be a pretty subtle similarity.

Been checking for this daily since a rep told me it was coming out sometime in November. Easily check your account, make payments, transfers or deposit checks!
sorry to cross link but a nice write up by Artem Russakovskii at androidpolice if you dont know what this is

Thanks for the post! I've also been waiting a long time for this.
works great.
Like the note said, it needs to be placed on a dark surface, that was my problem apparently. First try on my dark bed sheet and it worked vs my light-ish brown counter-top.
Yeah took a few tries for the check deposit to work. I had to get the check on a black background too, and make sure the edges are visible in the picture. I was positioning so the check edges were right on the border and it wouldn't work until I moved back a bit.
sweet! installing now
App was a breeze to get it up and running on my TMO-US HD2 Android baby
This is awesome, thank you for posting it.
I have been waiting for this app ever since it came out on the iPhone. Of course now I have no checks to test out the app with!
Thanks for the heads up! I had there original app on my G1 and then they discontinued it so I've had to suffice with SMS account activity and a bookmark.
Don't blame me, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.
In the Samsung Apps there seems to be an offer. Apparently, if you download all of the apps that they have for free in this particular list (some are quite good), you will be sent a voucher for an additional gift.
I have downloaded all the apps, but have received no voucher so far.
Link for details?
Just open Samsung Apps and you'll get the Valentine's offer welcome screen. But you'll have to download all featured apps in the period of time (7.2. until 27.2.)
tap*talked via GT-N7000 (GB.XXLA4)
@jeromepearce: As far as I remember it said the voucher will be issued afterwards, around the March, 6
Maybe this is how you get ICS
We might get ICS very soon
you WON !!!!!!!! free apple iPad 2 !

Hi everyone!
A few months ago I reached out online looking for a chance to get into Android design, and met a fellow online who had a simple app idea he was working on.
We began our work, and after a few weeks I'm finally able to post here for once instead of just browsing!

MARKET DESCRIPTION:
Don't be an Awkward Turtle.
Have you ever found yourself in a conversation without any idea what to say next? Then Awkward Turtle is the thing for you! Awkward turtle is a free app that will supply you with one of over 150 random facts to get that conversation right back on its feet.
Awkward Turtle has a multitude of facts ranging from the interesting - "Facebook has increased it's revenue by 2400% in the past five years", the thought provoking - "A compressed spring weighs more than a relaxed spring", and also the down right weird - "A donkey will sink in quicksand but a mule won't".
MARKET LINK:

This is our first app, so please give it a try and perhaps a market rating on your honest impressions with our effort. We spent a lot of time trying to polish it, and plan on adding new features and content in the coming weeks.
We're also coming across some issues where certain phones should work but don't. It seems to be a market issue, so if you come across such a thing please let us know, or if you're also a developer who has come across something like this your advice would be appreciated. For some reason people find their phone incompatible, yet installing the .apk directly works.
Thanks for taking a look, and I hope you our app can entertain you even just for a few minutes.
Funny app
Great job.
I got bored one fine day and decided to create a hidden book case for the HP touchpad, which I bought ages ago like so many others at the firesale prices.

I followed directions on how to do this here: https://heatherrivers.com/how-to-hollow-out-a-book
It took a little running around, getting an appropriately sized book, gathering the glue, clamping everything together, cutting out the center, sizing everything properly, and so on.
The result speaks for itself. I got a lot of compliments for it, however, and I suppose that makes it worth it.
I don’t really use it anymore, since the touchpad now resides on the touchstone, and is used for occasional news browsing and primarily as an active photo frame, randomly displaying assorted images I’ve loaded onto it.
As an amusing aside, I let the nieces borrow this along with the touchpad for a while, and a friend of the sister-in-law’s dropped by their place, where she was initially thrilled to see the book itself, being a big fan of Fleetwood Mac. Her pleasure upon finding a good book about her favorite band turned rapidly to surprise and ultimately dismay upon seeing that the center of this book was hollowed out to receive a tablet computer. :crying: (*Sad trombone sound*)
So what are your thoughts on this nifty little item?
I'm not using this anymore, does anyone here want to buy this?
(My touchpad largely resides now on the touchstone as a animated picture frame)
Has anybody successfully done this yet? I received and installed my Gear VR, but the instructions on the scratch off card don't seem to be relevant. I did exchange my S8+ on release day (due to a fairly Red screen) and Samsung has my updated IMEI registered but I'm not sure if they have that and my new WiFi MAC address for promotion purposes.
Two days of calls to support are just a waste of time; I just get transferred endlessly between departments. I can't even find out what the free titles are to see if it's worth chasing down.
If anyone could provide a step by step, that'd be great!

I did with no problem. First get vr and phone set up. Launch oculus app and hit the more button. Then go to redeem code and type in the code. Then you cam choose 1of 2 bundles, entertainment or gaming. I accidentally choose entertainment and not gaming. It does show what's in each bundle

That did it....searched all over for the app named "Oculus" and couldn't find it. Finally got that sorted and then it was smooth sailing.
