Hi All,
This is my first Thread/Post in xda-developers. I joined this forum just today since I was getting a lot of Helps from the Forum Discussions.
I would also like to actively participate in helping others here.
I am currently facing a problem with my Htc Explorer . Any help is appreciated.Description in short.
When there is a low/no network area the mobile Network goes off(naturally) and later on it is not able to connect to the mobile network even after i come back to a better network area.
Only solution at that point is to restart my phone and the Mobile Network is back again .
Firstly I thought this is a OS issue. So I wiped memory and installed CM9 #8 but problem pesists.
Currently I have installed CM9 20130304-UNOFFICIAL-pico still the same problem.
Anybody, any clue ? Is there a post already with similar problems ?
Thanks in Advance ..
Not everyone but many users have faced this unstable mobile data problem!! For now u can on/off airplane mode(it sometimes help) or flash the latest cm 9 build that is #14 by immortal_ yash

Thanks for Reply.
I forgot to mention that problem persists even when Switch ON/OFF Airplane Mode.
To be precise. When Network strength is Full and for some reason if I deliberately Switch ON the Airplane mode and try Switch OFF Airplane mode again - my mobile doesn't get any network after that.
I have to restart the phone to make it work.
Its really frustrating ...
Using Wiping User data option - does it totally wipe/format all internal data ?
If not Is there a way to completely clean the Phone memory and install everything from scratch ?

If airplane mode doesn't do the trick with the latest build of cm9, go to settings>more>mobile networks>network operators. That'll automatically search for available networks or you can do it manually. It's better than restarting the phone every time. If that doesn't work, try going to your phone dialer, dial up *#*#4636#*#* (google up the android secret code if you don't believe me). It'll open up a new window, go to Phone information>turn off radio>turn on radio. That should work.

After installing MIUI I can`t enable data transfer (2g/3g internet). Data transfer is turning on, but there is no 2g/3g logo and internet. This happens after installing all MIUI stock and custom roms. APN settings is correct, before it was ok. I`m installing via Clockwork recovery v5. Device is G2x (P999)
What should I do? How to enable it?
I believe for the g2x you should see an H next to the bars, that is if you are in a good service area.
Otherwise I think it also shows G, and E.
If it doesn't have anything at all, then I'm not sure.
Does the internet work when you go inti the browser?

I`ve tried SINGH UI too, as I remember wi-fi is on by defalut, isn`t it? So, I turned it off, and use my phone few days. Rebooted it few times, but data not worked ((
I had this problem before, go to ur APNs and go to authentication and make the authentication "None" instead of "Not set". That will enable ur data

Hey go to SETTINGS->MOBILE NETWORKS->ACCESS POINT NAMES-> in here select option button in your android phone, in the menu select NEW APN, you will get the APN settings as seen in this. In the link ACCESS NUMBER = SERVER in mobile.
As I am not allowed to post link for first ten TIMES! will guide you through
google search -> "vodafone apn address" the third result will be GPRS APN Settings with Username and Password - Modem Unlock. Click it and follow the method above mentioned.

EDIT: RIGHT AFTER POSTING, MY PHONE RANDOMLY STARTED WORKING. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I DID BESIDES POST HERE. MAGIC.
I installed Cyanogen version 7.2.0 just fine using the guide that was found here: http://www.mrmuh.com/2012/01/update-a-motorola-milestone-from-motorola-firmware-to-cyanogenmod-7/
However, the next morning I think I enabled the 2g/3g switch widget - and then my phone entered into a constant and continuous loop of "com.android.phone has unexpectedly closed" - and couldn't connect to cell service.
In a panic, I searched everywhere for fixes. I then tried a few of the fixes which instructed you to download "sqlite editor" and do some edits to the settings file. I did this, along with a couple of other network edits, resetting them to "0" instead of the "1" they were currently set to. No help.
Finally, I went into the Open Recovery system and did a full reset on cache/factory reset/etc. and then rebooted into cyanogen. Now my network won't even connect for a half a second and then crash like before - just straight up NO CONNECTION.
Now I've went through and attempted changing back some of those settings I messed around with in Sqlite - but to no avail.
Anyone with any ideas on how I can get an operating phone again, please let me know. I noticed I still have all my apps from previously, so I don't think I'm really factory resetting the phone. That could be part of the issue, I'm sure....I am very depressed and hoping for a miracle!!
Look into installing minimod recovery and then flashing the correct radio for your location after a full wipe.
If you do a google search you should find minimod. I'm on my phone or I would just link you.

OK Thanks for your reply.
However, randomly, just after I posted this - I looked down and my phone had a full 2G Connection. Went into baseband settings, enabled 850 band 3G, and now I have full 3G connectivity.
I have no clue how this happened. XDA forum is magical?
Thanks again for your reply, but thankfully I don't need the minimod suggestion as of now!!
You're welcome. You might want to go ahead and install minimod though. I made the mistake of not having it installed and flashed a new rom without the ability to select bands and was without a phone all day. It's better safe than sorry.

im having the same problem here :// i only can get cellNetwork if i restart with airplane mod.. then after i rebooted i go back to normal 3G/2G mode but otherwise i dnt get cell signal// also seems like wifi has some bugs im using HOHO CM7
Do a fresh install of HONO through minimod recovery.

Did you install the correct radio?

Go download a apndroid.apk Google it.
that happened to me too
Let me try to explain... Tmob US rooted new HTC one S.. Running trick Droid 4.3..
For some reason I have I will not be able to connect to data. The indicator still says connected sometimes I see the 3g up arrow go solid. Other times it trys to send some stuff on HSPA but does not work.
I have done the research.
I have flashed the latest radio. TMOB one not EU
I have reinstalled rom with full data, cache and dalvik wipes.
I know there is some sort of radio problem from HTC.
But this problems happens a many of times a day and there is no indication when it is broken until you see that there is no notifications and / or you go to use your data connection.
The only fix that I have found that works is to turn the mobile network off then back on....
Stats: 4.03, Baseband 0.16.31501s.16_2_10.22.3150s.10L, Build number 1.78.401.2.cl58751 Kernel 3.0.8-01136.....
What is the best way that someone has found to fix this....
Thanks in advance...
Look in the forum for the fast dormancy fix.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
I have tried many things and still have the same problem...
Attempts:
- New Micro sim not one that was cut down.
- New Rom (TrickDroid 6.1) Full wipe, cache, dalvik
- Fast Dormancy comes as a tweak in Trick Droid. Did not help.
- Update the radio to the latest one for tmobile.
Now sometimes I also cannot make a call or get a incoming call.
The fix is to put the phone in airplane mode then turn airplane mode off.
Has anyone else seen this.....
What is a way that I can diagnose / debug....
I would reformat sdcard, maybe even with sdformatter--copy to pc first and have nandroids on pc too
Wipe System 2x if you don't already
Try Axiom or LeeDroid

Don't have that answer--sorry
If all this OP mentioned is done including the ones I listed, there may not be a solution atm--barring return/exchange. I have never had the wifi issues, so not sure why some do and some don't--
Well I am trying everything now..
I will update soon.
I am re-installing TrickDroid 6.1. (Fresh Download) (Tmob version S4)
- Wipe cache, Data, system
- Format sdcard, data, system, cache (This is the first time I have ever formated sdcard)
- Did wipes and formatting more than once.
- Made sure that I format everything...
- Made sure boot.img is correct. by downloading and re-flashing
- New Micro sim from Tmob - NOT one cut down....
- Made sure all data from SD card is gone...
Once I get back up and test it out some more I will let everyone know if it worked...
I am not sure what is the problem... Maybe something was left on the sdcard???

Since I did all of the actions above... I lost data once.. But that may be because of my location at that time..

Well,
I have to say it is a little better but it not fixed.
I cleared everything as seen above.
Now I only lose my connection maybe once a day.
I am not sure what to try next.
I see HTC released to source for the HTC One S.
So maybe the next version will have some other improvements that will fix this problem

Also has any one tried a different Kernel instead of the one that comes with TrickDroid 6.2??
anyone having problems with thier data after flashing these 2 ics roms
Giving more detail other than anybody having data issues will get people to answer.
Explain what is happening or not happening.
im working on that right now
I had problems with this previously - data was working right after I flashed CM9, then it stopped. IMEI was fine, and the phone recognized Tmo as the provider - just no data.
Here's what I did to get data working again - go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Mobile networks > Access point names. Hit the menu button and select Reset to default. See if that helps you out.
Guys there is an Q/A thread

You should not have to do that. Plus those are two different animals. Your service data is just internet. Data that you mount in recovery is all the stuff on your phone in a folder labeled data.
alright thanks again man i was freaking out so much because of this do you think they are gonna make fufture updates to fix this?

Heres the deal, if this is a issue head over to github and report the issues. Be detailed and provide logs, max, bhundven and others will see the report and address the report. This is the only real way to make sure issues are getting addressed.

That sounds like a problem with the wifi service you are using.

yeah, so check your wifi provider.
Also,
if you are having awkward issues, then wipe data.
When I started CM9 the first time, this is what I did. wipe, data, cache, system, boot from CWM, then flash CM9, then factory reset from TWRP.

Hi!
Due to the fact that i can't post in the developers thread i have to open a new on in Q&A.
This problem exists on 2 HTC Sensation both with CM-10.2 AOSP 4.3.1 Jellybean[KANG] [Oct-28]
If I (or my wife) leave our home the device looses wifi and should switch to mobile data. But sometimes it doesn't work. The only way to get mobile data working is either to restart the device or to switch to flight mode and back to normal mode. Switching mobile data off and on in the properties has no effect.
So can anyone help me, or is it a feature?

from reading the comments, it persists with a few other users, did you do a full wipe before you flashed it? most of these problems are caused by not fully wiping it.

I did a full wipe before installing the custom rom on both phones. My phone has also the latest versions installed as an update (but without doing a full wipe).
But the problem exists on both phones.
Btw: i did a search in the forum but i didn't found something about this topic; maybe i used the wrong key words
