Cleanrom tf700 - Asus Transformer TF700

Hello so I was going to install the TWRP clean rom for my device, however on the download link my device was not avalible, can someone suggest any other clean rom for me?
Ps: One of the main reasons that I want to try a clean rom is that i hope that the micro hdmi cable will work again, I dont completly understand what the clean rom does so does anyone think this might help?
(the micro hdmi worked fine before, but the next day the device didnt find the cable, however the TV finds it. The day before it stopped working I added a few roms for my emulator)
thx in advance

TWRP is a custom recovery.
CleanROM Inheritance(CROMI) is a different firmware or ROM for your device.
You need to install TWRP if you want to flash a new ROM like CROMI.
In order to install a custom recovery like TWRP you need to be unlocked. There is a sticky at the top of General waling you through the steps as well as guides.
Here is a link to the CleanROM thread where you can download the latest version

It sounds like you indeed are mixing up "custom ROM", recovery and CROMI. Be sure to read up on those and DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING until perfectly educated. You might end up with a very expensive paperweight otherwise. We'll gladly help you in preventing that, rather than cleaning up the mess afterwards.

Sv: [Q] micro hdmi cable
I have indeed already flashed my device and am about to instal clean rom, however as i said there s non for my device apparently, atleast the download link doess not show for my devce. So back to my original question. Are there any other i can use and do you think it wil fix my hdmi connection problem?

I think I now understand where you're getting at: the original CleanROM is no longer available for the TF700. Scrossler ended support -- sbdags picked it up and called it CleanRom Inheritance (CROMI for short). Go to the Development forum and pick it up there, and flash away.

Lightbulb moment! Thank you Marty! :good:

Tf300t with usb modem

Hi. I have my asus tf300t only with wireless. I have at home hsdpa usb modem huawei model e220. Does anyone know if i put my sim card in modem and plug it in tf300t, is there any chance to get internet acces? Tnx
as far as I'm aware Android does not support USB modems - So no it isn't possible.
Unless someone can correct me (Which would be great as I'd like to be able to do this).

Android does support USB modems.
It just needs an USB port that is in host mode. Also some kernel/ramdisk modification needs to be done.
I am using a huawei e153 USB modem on my advent Vega tablet. No problems.
But as I said, it will no work on stock kernel, it needs the correct RIL, references t the ril and a recompilation of android with phone features enabled.

most chinese tablets comes with included drivers for usb modems (generally huawey 3g sticks) so it is possible, at least in theory.
dunno if they are linked to some framework or if they are easy to port to other roms.

[Q] Recovery error

Hey sorry i am new to the forums not new to rooting phones but i guess a tablet is all new ballgame i just received the asus transformer tf700t on ebay and tried to root it and it wont root as after i click into RCK it goes to installing system upate and then the red triangle android guy shows up saying error (i guess i cannot recovery mode the device either)
ok i was able to root my device but i am unable to install custom roms as my recovery boot im assuming is corrupt
Please note as i received it this way
Try this:
Boot Loop/No Boot Version (Can also be used to downgrade but always backup all apps and data.)
1. Download the latest version of Android for your tablet. Make sure you download the correct SKU version.
A. To find the SKU, go into settings, About tablet, and look for your Build Number, There are two letters (such as US,WW, TW, etc.) that is your SKU. When downloading the zip from ASUS', you must download the correct SKU zip.
2. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
3. Rename it to:
A. For the TF700: EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
4. Make sure your MicroSD card is formatted Fat32. It must be Fat32 Format or it will not work.
5. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
6. Insert the MicroSD into the tablet
7. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
8. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
9. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button (on RCK, this is your recovery which should already be selected) until you see Android logo and process bar
10. Give the update process 5-10 minutes. It should not take longer than that. If it happens to run for more than 45 minutes to an hour, force shut down the tablet and see if it boots. If it does not, try rerunning steps 7-9.
ASUS - Tablet & Mobile
The zips are under Tablet(your model), Downloads/Support. then under Android.
Also, they removed the 4.2.1 zips from their website. Here are Mirrors.
TF700 Zips (10.6.1.14.4)
Stock 4.2.1 US
Stock 4.2.1 US Mirror
Stock 4.2.1 WW
Stock 4.2.1 WW Mirror
Stock 4.2.1 TW
Stock 4.2.1 TW Mirror
I'll explain what your seeing a little bit more. The android guy on your back IS the stock recovery, it is not an interface. 10.6.1.14.4 is your your android version. 4.2.1 is the base, 10.6.1.14.4 is the package that ASUS creates and names it, so nothing is incorrect. Just try this method and it should get the tablet up and running.

Error how? The android guy laying of his back? That is not an error. The stock recovery has NO interface, so you CANNOT go INTO the stock recovery. All the stock recovery can do is update if you have a ROM on your sdcard.

A common error is to download the file and rename it without extracting it first. Its a zip in a zip. The one inside is the one you need to rename, not the one you downloaded.
The other common error is not having FAT32 format for your MicroSD card, which is the Removable one, not the internal sdcard. When you get a MicroSD card out of the box, the standard format is exFAT which does not work for recovery (flashing ROMs or firmware).
The dead android means that your recovery cannot find the update.zip file in the root directory of your MicroSD card.

Looks to be he installed a custom recovery. However in the OP, he never mentioned of being unlocked. I thought he was fully stock, so it is an entirely different situation. So my answer to him was for people who were purely stock.

Gotcha. But he did mention in the OP that he was trying to install a custom rom, and that can only be done if unlocked. But it also looks like he added that statement as an edit after the OP. Weather or not he knew that is unclear. Makes it hard to help someone when you only get partial info from the user about their problem I agree.

I had the same problem with my tablet. I was on 4.1 and updated to 4.2 the bootloader was still unlocked but root was gone when 4.2 loaded. The developer options turns off when you update the OS so you have to go back into the settings, hit about tablet, then go down to the build number and tap it 7 (seven) times. Developer options will then become available. Go into them and make sure that the options you need for rooting are enabled, i.e. USB debugging. Then run motochopper and root will be available again.
This info is posted elsewhere on the forum but as this topic is not closed I figured it would be good to make sure it was posted here too.

Same issue here. Had it rooted under 4.1.2 updated to 4.2.1 and now the chopper can't root it. Pushes the SU app, but failed when it try to root.

I'll just bump this to say I have the same issue. EVERY root method I've tried does not work. Motochopper, trying to flash a custom recovery. Nothing....
See this post. Assuming you are bootloader unlocked and on 4.2.1 this will work. It worked on my TF300T with an unlocked bootloader and 4.2.1 firmware. I even ran it *before* I got TWRP back on the device. BTW, make sure you use TWRP 2.5.0.0. 2.6.x.x doesn't recognize the boot partition on the 4.2 firmware. This is documented elsewhere in the Transformer forums here on XDA.
What about the newer method mentioned in the later parts of the motochopper thread?

I gave it a shot, to no avail. My bootloader is unlocked. I'm not sure what's going on here. When I opened up the program it says no device connected, though my Transformer is connected. Asus Sync also says it's not connected. But when I check my computer drives, "Asus Transformer Pad TF300T shows up... but it's not listed in my usb connections. Then you need to update your drivers. The easiest ones to use are the ones in the google sdk. I never had any luck with asus ones. The set I eventually ended up with work really well are attached below.

Great, thanks for posting that link! I'll give it a try when I'm back in town and post an update.
I'm also having trouble rooting, same build and 4.2.1, and the main problem is that SuperSU won't install properly, and manually moving the file won't work due to the fact that I don't have permission...
Anyone find a good solution yet?
I've rooted and installed custom roms on all my HTC phones, never had this much hassle getting it to work.
EDIT: Just got TWRP recovery installed, and SuperSU, using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982
I followed the "installing TWRP-recovery" part a bit down, and that's it.

Root or custom ROM?

My TF300T was updated to the recent OTA stock ROM, and thus lost the root that was previously gained through motochopper.
The tablet has recently become so slow and unresponsive sometimes that it's almost unusable when surfing or playing games.
Now I'm torn between two options. First, downgrade it to the previous version of stock ROM, and get root again. The second option is to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and then flash a ROM that solves the lag problem.
For downgrading, which stock ROM should I get from the Asus website? And what is the downgrade procedure?
Would factory reset solve the unresponsiveness?
For unlocking/recovery/flashing, what procedure is safe for the stock ROM (build no. JOP40D.US_epad-10.6.1.27.1)? Which custom ROM do you suggest that would have reasonable responsiveness?
Thanks!
I've read if you downgrade to. 1.15 you can use motochopper to get root back.

Downgrade to at least 10.6.1.15 - I've read that motochopper still works on that version for root access which I believe is required for any touchscreen driver reloads or refreshes.

Actually no, unless you are rooted already. To gain root you have to use your computer.
Download Asus Sync (you can disable it right after installing) that should install the latest Asus drivers on your computer.
If you are firmware 10.6.1.14.8 or earlier, you can then use the Motochopper tool to root. If you accepted the recent 10.6.1.14.10 update you would have to downgrade to .8 to be able to root.
We cold help you better if you would describe in detail what your situation is: Firmware version on your tablet, what are you running on your PC, which video are you trying to follow etc.
The more specific your question is, the better answers will you get.

Yep, you have a driver issue. You may have to uninstall/reinstall the drivers in Device Manager. Sorry - other than that IDK why your PC doesn't connect.

Your camera version looks very weird - never heard of an official update breaking the camera...
But if you are unlocked anyway, I see no reason why you should stay on stock!
Head for the CROMi-X thread and use Scott's tool to install TWRP on your tablet.

You may run into the same problem as earlier - you do need to have the correct drivers for this tablet installed on your PC. If the Asus drivers don't work, uninstall them and try the Google Universal Naked Drivers.
