froyostone with sense no ringtones?

I'm new and tried googling and all for this problem. I installed a custom rom (miri) and froyostone android and for some reason I can't select a ring tone or any other sound setting.
My phone calls work fine and all other sounds do to. What is the reason I can't select a ring tone?
I tried to download the media folder and still nothing.
go to the app store and search for free ringtone programs. install one and pick a ringtone and it should let you pick it then.

Didn't work.
If I go to sound settings, click on phone ringtone, there's nothing there. I can't select anything either.

Yea, I got the 1 ringtone I downloaded to show, just not the others. I will try the other option. I'll post back.
sorry, I don't play much with android. Looks too much like ios to me and didn't really have any advantages for what I use the phone for everyday.
That second option did it. I read you had to put the media folder in the root. I didn't know it meant the root of android folder. Thanks for the help. It's much appreciated.
its a folder titled media that you have to put in the android folder when you start it up.

[Q] Sound

Changed sound notification whilst assigning an notification sound and selected file manager" Always" instead of my normal "Just once" option, now all my sound choices for any app go to file manager, I assume I just go to settings and change it back, but which one? cant find sound in Application manager to change it, probably stirring me in the face but just cant find it.
Search for your file manager and click reset standards.

Thanks quick reply, sorted just cleared defaults in file manager, I was looking inside out at the problem, did not think to look at the app causing the issue, was looking at the system controlling the sound. lesson learnt.
Thanks again

Ringtone assignement

So here's my issue with my HTC One SV :
Ringtones assigned but default ringtones ringing, I have assigned my ringtones (call, sms, email, calendar),all works OK, except calls where the default ringtones(the one for general ringtones) ringing instead of the assigned ringtone?
Have other two phones(Samsung & Sony) and no problem at all with same settings. Had tis in the past, never had any issues... Now remember, had this with my HTC One...
Before questions asked, here's the settings :
On SD card root created folder media and subfolders audio>alarms>notifications>ringtones.
As mentioned before, all tones are ok, except call/phone ringtone.
changed memocard, but same story....
Any idea?
Mine are on root of sd card in folder
/system/media/audio/alarms
/system/media/audio/notifications
/system/media/audio/ringtones
All works fine.

But you know what is strange?! Everything is OK,except the bloody ringtone. Getting really pissed off with HTC. On my Samsung and Sony have no problem at all...

Ringtones work well for me, but I had a similar problem (don't know if this is the same reason) with special tones for my contacts using "Textra" (special SMS-app). I could solve this with a third-party app called "Rings extended".

I don't think I need an app for this. All my previous HTC's had the same settings and worked, only this SV is a trouble maker...
Did hard reset, but no joy... Giving up and downgrading it to back up phone position...

Try putting your ring tone in the /system/media/audio/ringtones folder then set the permissions to rw-r-r this is what i do with all my ringtones/notification tones. See if that works by making it a system ringtone. Also in settings then sounds then phone ringtone in the upper right hand corner theres an add button try adding your ringtone that way if the system one fails.

I am not rooted, so system/media ... access isn't possible. Switched back to Samsung couple days ago (nice black S3 GT-I9305), and have no issues at all with my personal ringtones & notifications.
I am going to sell that HTC as it failed me . If anyone interested let me know.

I had them in ringtones. I tried moving them to notifications and it was of no help.
what file extension are you using for your ringtones?

In my experience, Android always ignored the Ringtones and Notifications folders as music. Maybe you just need to refresh Google Music. Go into the setting and try syncing it

Most of them are mp3 or wav. Just tried ogg to no avail. I moved them all back to ringtones from notifications and it actually shows more now...

if you have root, move them to /system/media/
Create a empty file with name ".nomedia" in the same folder as ringtones. It will be not shown in play music

no no.. dont just stick them into /system/media/, put them in the right category(ringtones, notifications, alarms..) within /system/media/.

To be more specific, its system/media/audio/notifications and system/media/audio/ringtones. And if you put them in there, I believe they NEED to be .ogg files. Change the permissions to match the others in those folders and reboot.
That is the ticket. Change the permissions.

I just go into play music and select "not interested" on the ringtones, and it takes them right out.

Dear @hendrikbez,
1) go to settings>>applications>>application manger>>ALL>>one drive>> click on clear (data & cache & defaults).
2) now try to add your ringtone
