[Q] Notification Keeps Going Off - What App Is It? - General Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I have an AT&T Inspire 4G in which the "Notification Sound" is going off ALLLLLLL day and this morning, like it does it about 10 times with a 3 minute quiet time, then it sounds off again! I've gone in and changed all of my ringtones (email, texts, alarms, etc.) so I could pinpoint which one is doing it and it's the "Notification Sound" feature. What application is attached to this sound, as in, what does the alert mean?
I'm afraid to turn that notification off totally in case it's something I need to read. Can anyone tell me which one this is, and why it keeps going off?
Thanks a million! Starr

App to one touch silence notification while SOUND IS ALREADY PLAYING.

Sorry for the Caps, but I asked this question a few months back, and all I got were apps to set up profiles. I could care less about those.
I want a process running in the background that will allow me to silence an incoming notification (MMS, SMS, Email, FaceBook, Battery Low, Connected to computer, etc etc).
Example: Sitting in surprise meeting, and forgot to silence my phone. If I were to get a phone call, I can mash the hard buttons through my pants, and the ringtone goes silent, just like that. I want that functionality for a notification sound. Say, somebody sends me a text message, and for that individual i have "Bye Bye Bye" from N'Sync as their ringtone.
If that were to happen in the meeting, I would have to adjust, pull my giant phone out of my pocket, wake up the screen, unlock it, then pull down the notification bar. By the time I silenced the phone, the song would have through the second verse, and my reputation shattered.
So, if theres any apps like that, I would love to know about them.

Any one?

[Q] No vibration on notifications

Hello, I have a SNS since four days and I notice a bug (I believe): when phone is in Silence mode it not vibrate on notifications. No on sms, no on gmail, no on every notification types.
I tried to set "vibrate always" in every application, but the issue remains.
Can you hel me to resolve my issue?
Thanks in advance.
Meph
Hey, try with this...
messaging>menu>settings
all the way down at the bottom check vibrate
I have exactly the same problem. Every setting (main, in apps) is set to "vibrate always" but the phone never vibrates in notifications when the sound is on.
I have been hoping it is a bug in 2.3, but there don't seem to be many threads here about it. On the other hand, how could it possibly be a hardware problem?
it vibrates when i get SMS
and all other alerts when my phone is in Sound ON or Vibrate Only
It doesn't vibrate for me with Google chat, Gmail, pretty much anything other notification wise, than SMS, and my storm8 notification systems doesn't vibrate.

[Q] No notification sounds during phone call?

Is there any way to turn on notification sounds (for new text msg or email etc.) during phone calls?
I find myself constantly taking my phone away from my ear during calls to check if there are any new notifications since the sounds get muted during call and find this kind of annoying. Seems like this should be a standard option, no?
Turn on pulse notification light in display.
You really talk on the phone so much and receive so many notifications that this is a problem?

Notification pulse is turned on - that has nothing to do with sound. It bothers me because notification sounds worked just fine during calls on my Galaxy Nexus.
If I talk on the phone for 40 minutes but I get an important text message 5 minutes into the call that needs a timely response, yes, it is a problem.
Anyone have any ideas? This is an annoying issue.
+1. I'm looking to see if there's a solution for this.
Yes , I need to know the answer to the same , because missing out on important messages are a fear when I am on long calls . Thanks .
Anything new on this? Just got my Nexus 5 and I'm having the same issue.
Use tasker. Make a profile that makes a short vibration upon receiving a notification. You could use a sound instead of vibrate, but imo that would be annoying for you and the person you're on the phone with.
Nexus 5 issue.
There's a simple solution for this., just go into your settings>sounds and notification >interruptions. Here you can edit what notification will interrupt you while being on a call.

[Q] Random Notifications

Love this phone, with 1 exception. For some reason I periodically hear my default notification sound, but when I unlock the phone there is no visual evidence of a notification. Sometimes it repeats the sound the sound for about 30 seconds too.
I downloaded "Notification History" app and it doesn't show anything either.
Any ideas what I may be able to do to figure out what is causing this issue?

I've read on other threads that other people would have this happen, with random chargers. So if yours is plugged in this could also be the case for you, but i have not ran into this at all..

clearing all notifications, notification sounds ??

hmm, if i have several notifications, gmail, stuff like that. from the lock screen, if i clear them all(button at the end of the list) i hear my notification tone after they clear.
ideas or anyone else ??
Has anyone found a solution for this problem.?
Here is a better description of the problem.
When I clear notifications that it makes the sound for the notification that is being cleared. For example, if I get 5 Gmails and I clear the notification for them it will trigger my incoming Gmail notification 5 times.
Anyone figured this out?
I have the same issue!!! Is it a setting somewhere? I also have the S3 Watch and it makes the notifications on it too...
I have this problem too. I *might* be related to having a setting in GMail that I have turned on to notify for every message. But if this is turned off, I don't get new notifications for emails if I have an outstanding notification already, which sucks for getting notifications on my watch.
Same here, its pretty annoying.
